thank you to skillshare for sponsoring this video wait until the end of the video for a little Goodie and surprise more on that later enjoy what's up guys I'm Ozzy from Ozarks hardware and I show you how to save money when building computers so a few months ago I was browsing Amazon and I found this 100 video card and as I was analyzing the listing I thought to myself wait a damn minute you're telling me this is a 100 new video card that is suspiciously faster cheaper and has more vram than any other equally priced competitor there has to be a catch but no there isn't this is probably the best budget video card that I can recommend right now and here's why all right there are definitely shortcomings with this set of cards but I still stand by my statement I mean for one the sub 200 video card Market is not completely ideal right now there are some major sacrifices you have to make with pretty much every option for some you need a newer motherboard and processor to really take advantage of the video card's full potential like the rx6500 XT and 6400 from AMD there are some that actually perform well and they have a solid set of features but they still need some work in the driver Department the Intel Arc A380 and then there are cards that are solid overall but man they are completely and utterly overpriced and kind of old as well in video you really need to let the 1650 series die with dignity or if you're going to milk it at least lower the price let us have a little bit more dignity here but for the first time that I have been in the computer space other companies are actually doing something about this lack of improvement one of these companies is acerix or at least I think that's how you pronounce it and they manufacture older video cards on newer pcbs and sell them at good prices I bought the RX 580 2048 SP for 120 it's a cut down version of the regular 580 about 15 slower with 8 gigs of vram a 150 watt CDP and with full 16 pcie Lanes hard to believe that that's a feature nowaday but that's just the world we live in I then bought the RX 5500 XT for a hundred and forty dollars it has eight gigs of vram and is a full 5500 XT without any compromises with a 130 watt CDP and lastly acerx sent me the GTX 1660 super it retails for 170 at 6 gigs of vram and operates like you expect and considering this is one of the more popular video cards budget video cards on Steam Hardware survey I imagine that this will be a crowd favorite now our sirix touts their video cards is new and I was immediately doubtful because the 580 which is like what a six-year-old card at this point is no longer in production so the GPU chip itself cannot be new when I asked them about it they said that they do make the PCB themselves they buy the electrical components which I'm assuming includes like the capacitors and the memory chips from their suppliers and then they do make the GPU backplate and the Shroud so according to them everything outside of the GPU chip itself is new and I've seen my fair share of use cards from dust to rust to hair to a nasty funky Smoky Aroma when you open the box but these cards didn't have any of that it is hard to measure but I do think based on what I've seen there is new as a card of its age can be now manufacturing your own pcbs is not a simple process so there are definitely some quality control issues I've seen my fair share of Amazon reviews stating that things like the fans were way too loud or the GPU was artifacting I imagine a cerix and any other companies in this realm are having to kind of iron out their manufacturing process it'll improve over time but where a company like MSI or Asus might have two out of 100 video cards show defects they might have like seven or eight video cards show problems I personally haven't experienced anything crazy my Rx 580 does take a little bit longer for it to be detected by the monitor but in case you do have problems there is a warranty you are buying these cards through Amazon so Jeff has you back for 30 days and during your Bezos grace period as I like to call it I would definitely recommend running these video cards through a stress test just to make sure you get any chinks in the armor visible I'll have a write-up on my website on exactly how to do that so don't worry about it and if Jeff's Insurance runs out then you do have a warranty through a cyrics and admittedly it's just okay it's a three month warranty and it costs anywhere from six to Fifteen dollars for your card to actually get replaced or fixed it does include one year of technical support and they are implementing an extended one-year warranty program for a little bit extra money but they're still hashing out the details so they couldn't give me any more than that so compared to a normal two to four year warranty that you get with graphics cards they are definitely on the lower ash a lot I also contacted support about two months ago two different times and I still haven't heard anything back so I wouldn't expect five star service ghosted by my customer service rep and here I thought it could get any worse but apparently again on the bright side these video cards functioned like any other video card I installed them in the computer I download the official drivers from AMD or nvidia's website and I was able to tweak them with MSI afterburner thermals and noise were okay temperatures ranged from 70 to about 82 degrees Celsius 70 degrees with a case like this one that has more space and better airflow and then 82 degrees on smaller cases with less space and less airflow even the most power hungry card the RX 580 was totally fine during the stress test even after an overclock and the cards aren't noisy you can totally hear the fans but they're not going to bother you but the best part about these cards is undoubtedly the performance I use the modest test bench a ryzen 5 3 600 and 16 gigs of ddr4 memory and all of these cards worked really well at 1080p they were playable and offered solid performance but the cool hoping was that each of them matched or beat their equally priced competitor the RX 580 handedly beat the similarly priced rx6400 the 5500 XT matched the 6500 XT in most cases and handedly beat it in the Rainbow Six Siege Edge case and the GTX 16 super completely wiped the floor with the GTX 1650 and you can see all of this a lot more clearly in the performance per dollar graphs so this next graph shows average dollar per frame which means how much are you paying for each frame that shows up on your computer screen the less you pay the better so the lower number the better with the current market video cards you're paying about 29 cents per frame when you average the amounts across the three video cards but when you compare it to the Amazon video cards you're 8 cents less per frame about a 38 better value it is weird to talk about incense because eight cents does not seem like a lot of money at all but if you look at just the price of the video cards the 580 5500 XT and the 1616 super are the same price or maybe 10 to 20 dollars cheaper than their competitors and they offer worst case scenario the same performance more than likely it's going to be better so while these video cards don't offer the greatest warranty and they're not technically 100 brand new I still think they are the best option they're well made they work and they're not scams and to be completely candid with you guys I do hope that they continue on this trend of taking older gpus and repurposing them for more budget-minded people the way that the video card Market is going if it continues on its current Trend it doesn't seem like AMD nor Nvidia are going to release affordable by affordable I mean like sub 200 sub 250 cards right out the game they're probably gonna lower the price of the previous generation and then those are going to be considered the budget segment so I'm imagine with time methods like this will only become more viable and as I was looking at the viability of these acerix products it got me thinking about the viability of the products that I eventually want to sell by this time next year I want to create my own digital wallpapers prints and arts that evoke the calming temperate and grounded vibe that I try to show in my videos and although I'm not very good with a pen around November last year I discovered that I can make a lot of this art just through code I have been improving my creative coding skills since November of last year but one of the biggest improvements actually came just a few nights ago when I followed the skillshare course called abstract art by Ashraf whoa that looks so cool and within just 15 minutes I was able to create some really cool pieces and I already have so many ideas on how to expand on them and incorporate them in a product in the future with all that being said I'm very happy that skillshare are sponsoring this video their courses on Creative coding have been extremely helpful for me especially when there aren't that many in-depth ones with projects online and as I focus on YouTube more over the summer I've combined the creative coding with Nathaniel Drew's creativity Unleashed course where he talks about how to fuel your creativity sustainably and consistently sometimes people want more than a traditional nine to five and as someone with a day job I totally understand that so I think now is a great time to give that passion project or that side hustle or that idea that you've had a little bit more TLC through skillshare because the risk is so low and I think the benefits are pretty high and to make things even better the first 1000 people to use the link in the description will get a one month free trial of skillshare that way you can kick start your journey without spending the dime anyway thank you guys so much for watching this video thank you again skillshare for sponsoring it let me know what you guys think about taking an older GPU and then putting new parts around it kind of like refurbishing it but with new parts and then selling them off I don't think we've seen anything like this the closest thing is probably those old Xeon motherboards that we used to see on AliExpress but so far I think I dig it all right I'll see you guys in the next video peace
