hey guys and a very warm welcome back to forts 14 and today I'm going to be making through its coins because you guys have bought a product and I'm also going to be showing you her put my usual afternoon tea together because the mother-in-law is coming over this afternoon so we're going to sit down our weeks gone and a sandwich and a bikini can't a cup of tea so I'll show you her put that together as well now scones are you know they're so common in this country you can meet them with fruit you can have them plain you can pick cheese on them you know it really has sky's the limit I'm just going to be using some air currents today so I mean you can use sultanas or you you know pop and whatever you like but this is what you're going to need if you want to follow along with my recipe okay first of all you'll need a teaspoon of vanilla extract five grams of baking powder that's just going to help you know Gavin 1/8 we rise 125 grams of butter 500 grams of self-raising flour 185 mils of whole milk 90 grams of caster sugar 80 grams of salt saunas 1 free-range egg and a good pinch of salt 3 so let's go over and more Seba do next so you want to start off with your Fleur and a bowl and to that you just want to poop and your butter make sure this is nice and chilled and then a good pinch of salt and then your baking powder just robbed everything together with your fingertips and that's it take about five minutes and then at the end you know everything should be lovely and combined you wanted to resemble sort of a fine breadcrumb and just smoosh everything together and that you like you might like to pop some glossy cherries I know you know but even cheese if you want to make cheese scones now you want to start real weight your weight ingredients so start off your milk and to that you want to add your caster sugar then your egg I gave her everything that could whisk together [Music] I just making sure you're a kiss nicely you know distributed native poppin your vanilla let's just helps to get the money sort of vanilla flavor obviously stating the obvious again amicably well or hole in the middle of your dry ingredients and pop n your way ingredients and they just want to mix this all together just use your hands because in the end when it's all combined you know it won't really be sticking to your hands anymore and that's up to buy another five minutes again case don't over hurt that's though I mean once it started to come together you know you can kinda let it cool you don't want to overwork it because and when you put it in the oven I'll turn it more like a biscuit then I scorn and this is what you're looking for until it's no longer stuck into the bowl and then just turn it out onto a floured surface we just went to grab your rolling pin get our we just in a flour and slowly start to roll your doorway and as you can see I mean it's not stuck into little wind pen so this is their consistency that you want so you want to leave up an inch thick don't do them to Thun or you know the weren't rise they'll just come out like we best kids [Music] then you can grab your cookie cutter to the many size you like my pecker you do them the less you're going to get so I've just used a medium one here and never ever twist your your cookie cutters because you're going to get a very odd sheets going then press it straight and give up your wiggle and that's good enough there's no need to trust these now once you've cut your your scones oh you can just go ahead and reshape your do as many times as you like to get the most scones from your dough because we don't like any waste even if it you know you end up with a few scraggly ones that doesn't matter because they're still gonna taste fab [Music] so just keep cutting 2-year outdoor basically and that was enough for my purposes I got probably done another two or three boats but tree wasn't big enough just pop them on to at least proof be my sorry please proof a baking tray with greaseproof paper on the top it can you know you can glaze the top for these with some egg or milk I feel like I don't usually bother now you just want to let these rest for about 10 to 15 minutes it's just too late the baking powder work with the cell freezing Fleur you don't have to do that's it's just something I like to do if I'm pressed for time I don't usually bother but I had time to diesel in went to Parliament here often gas mark 4 for 15 to 20 minutes just check on them after 15 minutes and see how they're getting anyone and this is home mains turned out today the smell amazing they really do like I said guys I've got the the mother-in-law coming round for afternoon tea so this is this is why I do now traditionally with an afternoon tea you know you'll serve the finger sandwiches and the most traditional is smoked salmon and cream cheese or hammond mustard or cucumber I do actually like smoked salmon and neither does they neither does the mother-in-law so ice kept that so we're just having daily ham with some American mustard cut into fingers or in some malted bread and also the traditional cucumber sandwiches now I heat cucumber I can't stand it but the mother-in-law likes it so she can have these ones and all of the ham so I just like to peel my cucumber you don't have to do this you know you don't have to I just think it's have you bet nicer than sandwiches or so I've been told to even like the smell of cucumber I don't know what it is I mean I like gherkins which is fair to it same as ax I mean I don't like boiled eggs and anything but I like pickled eggs help us out is that so yes once it cuts it quite suddenly or you don't have to I mean do you like it but it can have it like and I'm just using some a bog-standard white plate for the cucumber ones and instead I cut them into fingers I'm going to cut them into triangles adventurous probably about a butter own and then your cucumber slices just like that well I'm going to do these ones and fungus as the next ones I'm going to in triangles just to make it look a bit more interesting on the wheat East and of course just cut your crusts off yeah we forego that one there last one this is just another cucumber one pop butter one and then your cucumber again cut your trusts off and these ones are going into triangles and all you have to do now is assemble traditionally this coins would beat the top and I've just put some Devonshire clotted cream and some lovely raspberry jam the sandwiches in the middle and the bottom layer would be traditionally where your sweet treats would be now I've just got on there some meringue nests with clotted cream and strawberries some we many there cheesecake cupcakes some many Victoria sponges and a couple of strawberry tarts as well this is why I can't lose weight guys but you can of course use whatever you like and you don't have to you know Irene Jane this order us is just quite traditional clotted cream is actually amazing so that was already cream tea and I went down a treat hmm you know absolutely love the combination of strawberries and cream that's fab so hope you enjoyed that guys something about different and yeah so until next time thank you very
