she's edgy she's cool she's no nonsense and she's Tabatha Coffey from Tabatha's salon takeover hello everyone you all look shocked and surprised I'm tabatha and I'm taking over I mean when I mean takeover mode and when I'm in work mode I'm no different in my salon than I am in someone else's salon that's who I am at work that's tabatha at work but tabatha when she hangs out she's she's different what's the worst hairstyle ever a mullets never right I mean I'm not what's never right but then there are times that I just see people and I the head just looks dry and over-processed or it doesn't suit they tell us a little bit about how you got here well I've been hairdressing 30 years I started in Australia when I was 14 so I moved to London and my goal was to work for Vidal Sassoon and to be retrained which I did and then sheer genius on Bravo which was a competitive hairdressing show I participated in the first season of that I didn't win although America voted me fan favorite so Thank You America yes and we love you after a couple of months brother called me and said you know we'd really love to speak to you how do you feel about doing a show for us your childhood was a little bit unusual well I grew up in strip clubs my parents owned strip clubs in Australia and they were drag queens that worked in the strip clubs nearly everyone was a drag queen regular just like a regular childhood you know nothing different to anyone else and my favorite part my favorite place to hang out was in the back room and in the dressing room with all the girls and I would sit there and just watch them get ready and watch them so their costumes and set their wigs and they put me to work really early and I also just had this great lesson that set me up in life about being honest and being authentic and being true to who you are and you know some of those stories were were really stories of adversity and hate and all of those kind of things because of the lifestyle they were living you're in town for my big gay Italian wedding you know it's great because it has a serious topic which is obviously gay marriage they address the topic of gay marriage but they do it in just such a light-hearted fun way it's all about big old 80s fabulous hair and neon pink lipstick and big nails it's okay to be a little bit of a bi TCH and it's okay to stand up for yourself it's okay to make certain choices for yourself that's not a bad thing
