amen well hey guys have a seat it was awesome where spin with you guys welcome to the roots community church you might be like who's that guy with a microphone well my name's tyler i serve on the kids ministry i serve on the youth ministry and in case you haven't heard um pastor russ tore his achilles tendon this week so first of all ouch doesn't sound like fun but just because of uh well first he's doing okay he has a surgery that's scheduled let's definitely keep him in our prayers for sure but just because this week was a little spotty he asked that i go ahead and preach today so it's just gonna be you and me is that okay awesome thank you for that so we're the title today's sermon is no signal hdmi one if you're taking notes i'm just kidding we're going to continue through the book of philippians in the bible which is a letter that paul wrote to the church of philippi philippi being a roman colony filled with roman citizens and roman veterans these guys were romans down to the bone and they loved it but sitting in this roman colony was a group of people that would worship jesus christ as king in a world where people would worship caesar as king and because of that they were a little bit different from the world that they were sitting in the world that they were sitting in had different values the world that they were sitting in submitted to different things but the church submitted to god and because of that they faced a unique form of alienation they faced a unique form of persecution and a unique form of attack and paul is able to write them a letter that's a true heart to heart because while they are being persecuted and attacked for their faith paul is writing this letter from a jail cell he is actively in prison for the very thing that they're being attacked for and paul says to be honest it's not that bad all the guards are hearing the gospel greg you're a g all the guards are here in the gospel many people are being saved the church is being encouraged and people are growing in their confidence because while they're being persecuted they can see paul in jail and they can see that hey in all things whether it's the highs or the low we can endure it through jesus christ who gives us strength thank you greg okay cool nice and so you know we didn't even need it because everybody brought their bibles today so we're going to open up our bibles to philippian uh chapter 2 and we're going to read verses 12 through 18 together but before we do that i wanted to do something a little bit different today sometimes we just interact with the bible so much that we kind of forget the origin of what is in the bible and what we're reading the book of philippians is a letter and i want you to imagine that you are a member of the church of philippi at the time that a letter from paul arrives that's the paul that you watched get arrested this is the paul that helped plant your church this is the paul that you've seen and you can't wait till you see him again and you know that he's in jail and a letter arrives from paul can you imagine just the excitement in that congregation we got a letter from paul i can't wait to read it and what would happen is whoever it was that was leading the congregation there would just read the letter he would just get up on stage maybe there's a stage who knows but he would get up in front of everybody hey guys i got a letter from paul let's read this thing but in the modern church we have to kind of break up the verses first of all they're super dense so it's worth it to spend an hour on six verses but also what happened last week that we read hinges heavily on what we're going to talk about today which is why what i want to do is just read the passage from last week because again today what i'm starting off on starts with the beautiful word therefore and if we have any english teachers in the room they're going to say you can't start off a new paragraph with therefore has to follow something and what it follows i heard somebody say right that's hilarious uh what it follows is a hymn that paul is one of the greatest writers one of the greatest leaders of all time this dude can do metaphors this guy can teach amazing smart things and also he does poetry and he does this hymn that's a presentation of the gospel so i want you to imagine that you're sitting in the church of philippi dirty dusty and you hear this hymn being read to you about your lord and savior paul writes in your relationships with one another have the same mindset as christ jesus who being in very nature god did not consider equality with god something to be used to his own advantage rather he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant being made in human likeness and being found in appearance as a man he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross therefore god exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name that at the name of jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue acknowledge that jesus christ is lord to the glory of god the father man if i was sitting in the church of philippi and i just heard that him being read first of all i'm like can we sing that jam let's all stand up and sing that thing i don't even know what it sounds like in greek i just read it in english it already sounds beautiful but it was written in greek that could have all rhymed and been beautiful who knows but i hear that him and i'm hungry for whatever comes next because i know that the next thing that paul's going to do is he's going to take that him and now he's going to push you to move on it he's going to take that him and now he's going to give you an exaltation here's what i want you to do knowing what jesus christ has done very nature of god did not consider that nature as something to be taken advantage of but rather he laid down that nature to take on the nature of a servant all of that so that he could die for you and then be lifted up to the highest place like okay that all sounds wonderful now what do i do well that's going to be what we talk about today today we're going to talk about what we do in response to who christ is the way that we act in response to the gospel which i can't wait and the direction that paul is going to push it in is paul is going to tell all the church of philippi he's going to tell them to continue to work out your salvation because you are in a dark culture amongst just a darkness but in that darkness if you continue to work out your salvation you will shine like stars amongst them as the church and man i think we can relate a little bit that in the midst of our culture we can shine we can truly be a set apart in different people that when people look at the church of god they would see people that are shining like the sun which is today's sermon to shine as bright as the sun do you guys see what i did there i misspelled something i'm just kidding um that we would shine as bright as jesus does and so the text that we're going through today is verses 12 through 18. thank you for bearing with me i think that was important let's go ahead and jump into verse 12. verse 12 says therefore my dear friends as you have always obeyed not only in my presence but now much more in my absence continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling for it is god who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose do everything without grumbling or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure children of god without fault in a warped and crooked generation then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life and then i will be able to boast on the day of christ that i did not run or labor in vain but even if i'm being poured out like a drink offering but even if i'm being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith i am glad and rejoice with all of you so you too should be glad and rejoice with me we're gonna get through this tv thing right remember all things work out for the good of those who love jesus christ so i don't know what this is all about but it's for my good right okay the first point if you're taking notes that i want you to write down is don't press pause on progression don't press pause on the progress that god is trying to make on in your life what we're going to see in verses 12 and 13 and go ahead and pull it up is we're going to see what might be the first compliment sandwich of all time do you guys know what a compliment sandwich is a compliment sandwich is hey you're doing like so awesome like you're the greatest and here's one thing that you're just not great at but don't worry about it because you're an awesome dude that's a compliment sandwich we do compliment sandwiches all the time sometimes though when we do compliment sandwiches if we're being honest it's kind of disingenuous really i just want to get to the criticism but i'm going to smash it between a couple nice things that we i don't hurt your feelings paul here is going to do a compliment sandwich that's genuine it starts off with a true commandment then he's going to have a command and he's going to land on a comfort so let's work our way through this compliment sandwich the first thing he says therefore my dear friends as you have always obeyed paul loves the church of philippi and if you read philippians you'll notice that paul is extremely happy with what the church of philippi is up to the reason that he's happy is because the gospel that he shared with them initially they continue to submit to even though they're in a world that's kind of against them some of the other letters from paul to other churches it reads like he's not so happy with how they're behaving but philippians he's really happy listen just as you have always obeyed i'm so happy that you continue to obey the gospel i'm so happy that you continue to submit to the gospel and not only in my presence but now much more in my absence i am just so happy that you continue to obey he commends them and then he's about to give them a commandment and the command that he's going to give them is a simple one to continue it's not going to show on the screen but if you're taking notes write down continue to continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling i am so happy that you obey the gospel i'm so happy that you heard the gospel and that you submit to it and if i have one thing that i could encourage you to do it's to continue to work out your salvation it's to continue in it our walk with christ is not a one stop shot our walk with christ is not just and praise god for this it's not just hearing the gospel recognizing it i'm a sinner i repent of my sin and i believe that jesus christ died on the cross for my sins receive forgiveness of sins and justification for our sin and then one day go to heaven that is a beautiful gospel that alone is just praise god from start to finish but there's one key thing that's missing in there which is the christianist word if you would called sanctification sounds fun it's a lot of fun sanctification is christianised for being made more holy it is thank you for the gospel and then it's now let's start to take off the baggage that you brought with you into your relationship with christ and let's put on some of the stuff that you're going to experience in heaven let's continue to make you look more like christ if we could pull up romans 8 we're going to see that this was god's plan from the very beginning god's plan from the very beginning romans 8 verses 28 through 30. god's plan from the very beginning was to take you a creature that is turned from god and turn you into a creature that looks like his son that process is called sanctification god wants to not only save you but he wants you to work out your salvation so you come to look more like jesus let me show you what i mean verse 28 through 30 romans 8 if you want homework for the week read all of romans 8 it's a dime starting off from verse 28 and we know that in all things god works for the good of those who love him all things including the tv breaking all the time including when your favorite diner gets torn down and you're like god how is this a part of your plan and then the chick-fil-a sign comes up and you're like oh my gosh but not only that stuff like that that stuff happens in our life for real where like something bad happens then we realize that it's for our good that happens and sometimes we just endure suffering and we're enduring suffering and i'm looking at the suffering and i don't see the silver lining i don't see the golden tunnel at the end of this thing god can you please help this to make sense all things even the long-suffering all things work out for the good of those who love jesus christ you say i don't know how that could be good the way that you can figure out whether or not it's good is not to use our measurement of what's good we have to look at what god says is good and if i look at what god said it says who have been called according to his purpose not my purpose my purpose is i just want to be happy if our purpose is i just want to be happy then of course some things are going to happen in our life that don't seem so good but there's this awesome c.s lewis quote where he says that god is more concerned about your holiness than he is your happiness that kind of sounds like a downer but honestly if we live in this space of truly submitting to the gospel even in the midst of sadness even in the midst of pain we can still have joy in our heart because of the gospel i can know that in all things god works for the good of those who love him even the hard things and here's why if we go to verse 29 here's why for those god for knew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his son some of the things that we experience in our life is the hard forming and hard crafting of you a piece of clay being made to look more like jesus some of things need to get picked away and sometimes it's hard but it's good if we keep in mind that the purpose is this image of his son that he that's jesus that jesus might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters that's crazy verse 30 and those he predestined he also called those he called he also justified those he justified he also glorified a lot of our gospel experience takes place in verse 30 but we have to remember to go back to verse 29 here's what i mean i recognize that i've been called by god i recognize that i've been justified for my sin i recognize that i will one day become glorified in heaven i recognize all those things that's beautiful praise god for that i'm so happy that you recognize that and also i want you to continue to work out your salvation i'm happy that you believe this i want you to continue to be conformed into the image of his son it's not a one-stop shop it's a progress you guys with me let's go back to philippians uh verses 12 and 13. so now we know that uh that got this right yeah yeah so now we know that we're working out our salvation okay that's something we want to do we want to work out our salvation now how are we going to work out our salvation well the way that we're going to work out our salvation is with fear and trembling you know what my job is is to read the bible and help this stuff make sense so when i hear work out the salvation with fear and trembling i hear that doesn't sound like a good time but we have to have a proper view of i am dying up here you guys are you guys are seeing me in just the highest level of patience right now um wow okay thanks bro so um continuing to work out our salvation with fear and trembling i can read that and i can like gloss over it or i can help that make sense how am i going to work out my salvation with fear when i hear about god i see the all-loving god i see the all-knowing god i don't see a god i want to fear that doesn't seem like fun well let's make sense of it let's try to understand what it means to fear god it's here it's how we work out our salvation let's help it make sense then you see fear here is not uh the purge forever fear here is not you know a horror movie that we're terrorized terrified of and then we're terrified of god a biblical fear is god is big god is holy god is so much greater than i am and sorry and and he's on our side that's not terror that's god's so big and he's i'm on his team that's a praise god another way to help make sense of fear is a story i love telling stories i talked about this two weeks ago i'll tell you guys a story about a dog i grew up with by the name of zoe zoe is your stereotypical dog that weighs two and a half pounds half blind half deaf all the dog lovers are like oh you should live with this dog dude because this is one of those dogs that like somebody knocks on the door and just a thousand decibels bark at a frequency that would just blow out your eardrum with the high pitch it was horrible so that's zoey combination in my neighborhood we had this woman older woman who would walk her german shepherd without a leash this is one of those situations where i'm not going to look at the spec in someone else's eye because i got a beam in my own eye but we're going to call that dog spec so so she would walk her dog by the house german shepherd no leash and every time this german shepherd would walk by zoey would start yapping at it start yapping yap and yap and yappin and one day the door opened and zoe got out half blind god bless half blind full sprint towards this german shepherd and when she got close enough to see the german shepherd she was what my notes say confronted by reality and the reality was that zoe was a chicken nugget and this german shepherd was a big mac if you know what i'm saying and because of that her demeanor began to change from afar bark bark bark bark bark up close tail went between the legs hair stood up on the back of her neck we can't see her skin because she has fur but what zoe just got is what we would call goosebumps and she couldn't make eye contact because of how big this thing was she now had a proper view of how big this german shepherd was and how small she is and that changed her behavior in this same way zoe's preaching because in this same way when we get near to god we start to understand who god is we start to realize how big and powerful god is how god is omni everything that is that he is everywhere across time and place that he is all powerful he's fully able he's all knowing and what's amazing about the character of god is that it's not just those things it's not just god his big powerful creator but it's also that he's all loving that this great big powerful creator who knows you knows how you're made to function knows what's best for you made a way to have a relationship with you praise god that now if we go to proverbs 9 now if i read proverbs 9 verse 10 it makes sense the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom having a proper view of who god is in his greatness and in his love for me and who i am that's the beginning of wisdom because if we really believe that god is all-knowing and if we believe that god wants what's best for us if we really believe that then it changes the way that we behave because the only proper response to who the lord is is to give our life to him to say god i might think i have it figured out i might think i know what's best but in the end you are so much greater so here's my heart here's my mind here's my life here's my job here's my marriage here's my everything every day always because i know that whatever you know is better than what i know right i know and if we go to proverbs 3 versus 5-10 i know that you know more than me so here's everything and for a lot of us this is how we first accepted jesus christ was someone presented this to us in a way that it just made sense the holy spirit finished the work in our heart it just made sense jesus christ is lord i don't know what i'm doing jesus you're sit on the throne of my heart i want to follow you praise god for that and that we would continue in it that that's not just a one time one-stop shop check the box i'm saved i'm going to heaven but that's and every day i wake up today is another day i need to submit to the lord now here's another thing i got this job offer god what offer should i be looking for that it's all all the time we just continue to work out our salvation praise god for that by the way because that means that we don't have to wonder and wander anymore we don't have to wonder what's best we don't have to wander certain thing think from things the world offers us we can just know we can just trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding we can just trust god we can in all of our ways submit to him and he will make our paths straight do you want your path straight me too we're going to submit to him i was just planning on doing these two verses but then i kept reading the proverb and i was like this is money do not be wise in your own eyes fear the lord and shun evil this will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones let's keep going david honor the lord with your wealth with the first fruits with the first fruits golly with the first fruits are you guys still with me chill honor the lord with your wealth with the first fruits of all your crops then your barns will be filled to overflowing and your vats will brim over with new wine what do i hear there he will make my path straight he will bring nourishment to my bones and he will bring to overflowing my brims will be overflowing and the way in which this happens is submitting to the lord that's it i uh i dream when i sleep the only reason i'm saying that's because i know people who don't dream when they sleep and that's what we call suspicious but i dream when i sleep and for a season of my life i had this like reoccurring nightmare um just like once a month but it was the same nightmare whenever it happened my man okay um i would have this recurring nightmare and what the nightmare was was that i had stolen a car and i didn't know how to drive bad nightmare and the way that this car would drive was that it was like i was driving on ice so i would go to accelerate and the car would slowly accelerate until it was going too fast i'd go to break and it wouldn't break i'd go to turn to the right and it would slowly go to the right until it was going too much to the right and i'd look behind me and there'd just be all this destruction that i caused from trying to drive this stolen car that i don't know how to drive if we're being honest sometimes our life can feel like that if we allow things to just be quiet and just look at our life sometimes it feels like when i got my hands on the steering wheel i really don't know how to drive this thing and i'm going to take a weight off your shoulders right now you don't praise god praise god because how many people wander looking for if you have your bibles flipped to john 14 it's not going to be anywhere so you just got to trust me unless you have your bible but how many people wander around looking for thank you for that how many people wander around looking for the way in which they should live what's the way that i should live how many people wander around looking for the truth like what is right what is wrong what's real what's fake what's the purpose of my life that all of these questions these big questions that all people ask because eternity is placed on our heart that all of these questions would be answered in one person jesus christ and jesus christ says in john 14 about himself he says i am the way the truth and the life these things that we're desperately searching for no one comes to the father except through me we are just a creation apart from our creator we have nothing and the way that we get to know our creator is through jesus if you really know me you will know my father as well from now from now on you do know him and have seen him flip back to philippians now we're in verse 13. it's really important that you understand that i am so happy that you put your faith in the gospel praise god for that that he did a work in your life that you just realized i need jesus christ as my lord and savior and if there's a command that's next i want you to continue in that we can submit our life to god but it's every day we continue to submit to god and the comfort is this verse 13. for it is god who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose verse 13 of philippians chapter 2. for it is god who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose that in the end god's the one who's doing the work in our heart and you can go back to that john 14 text verse 15. and jesus said that this would happen jesus said that in your walk with me you will not be alone and the people that he's talking to are people that could see jesus face they could actually touch him and jesus was telling them like just so you know i'm gone here pretty soon but you're not gonna be alone i'm gonna send someone starting off in verse 15 we hear jesus speaking if you love me keep my commands and i will ask the father and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever the spirit of truth the world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him but you know him for he lives in you he lives with you and will be in you i will not leave you as orphans i will come to you before long the world will not see me anymore but you will see me because i live you also will live on that day you will realize that i am in my father you are in me and i am in you we kind of don't get this but one day we will get this we're not alone whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me the one who loves me will be loved by my father and i too will love them and show myself to them we should not press pause on the progress that god is trying to do it's amazing that we've submitted our life to god and put our faith in the gospel now let's continue to work out our salvation and the encouragement is that you're not doing it on your own but it's god ultimately who's helping you to will that's what you desire and to act that's what you do god's the one who's doing the work inside of you so with that let's continue to the next point if you're taking notes write down persevere in the progress being a christian can feel hard that's reality let's read uh verse 14. paul says do everything without grumbling or arguing everything without grumbling or arguing it's interesting that the specific temptation that paul is trying to steer the church away from is the temptation to grumble and there's a reason why first is because it's pretty hard to be in a world where everything's against you that's a tough place to just be in it's like everywhere that i go there's nothing that's really pushing me closer to god in fact it feels like there's everything trying to slow down what's good for me and point me away from god and when i go to church and i'm extremely blessed because i go to a great church i have a great pastor i have a great team of people i have great friends i have a good community group i'm blessed and also it doesn't matter how good these people are at the end of the day they're people and so when i go outside of the church i'm facing persecution and people trying to point me away from christ and then i come into the church and i got people that are failing me there too people fall short of the glory of god including me with the microphone and so someone might say something to you and it hurts your feelings or they're not appreciating you and that's real that's really happening and there can be a temptation to grumble to god or to grumble with one another or to argue with one another as the church so what's the answer to these things the answer if you could pull up james 1 tyler you're reading a lot of bible today you're welcome is that all right cool the answer is in james 1 for when we face persecution which if you read this it says to consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds the next time your friend comes to you and opens up about something i want you to turn to them be like dude consider it pure joy why would i consider it pure joy because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking anything if any of you lacks wisdom you should ask god who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to you what we see here is when persecution comes up in your life when long-suffering comes up in your life when the devil is just taking shots in your life you are now blessed with the amazing opportunity to practice your faith when i talk to the high schoolers about these verses what i say is it's it's kind of like working out where do you guys know working out and i'm just kidding it's kind of like me either so it's kind of like it's kind of like working out it's like god gives us or allows god allows a weight in our life for us to push our faith against we now have an opportunity for us to actually walk out the things that we say we believe in that when times get hard if you could pull up james 1 again that when times get hard i can consider it pure joy i can consider it pure joy because when i face these trials it's a testing of my faith that will produce perseverance and that perseverance will eventually finish its work so that i can be mature and complete not lacking anything in the moments that i am lacking in that season was like god i understand like i should be able to do my faith thing here in those moments that's when we ask god look you're being a christian praise god for that we now have a chance to actually walk out the things that we're called to walk out and whenever we're tempted with grumbling we have to remember the gospel it's remembering and knowing philippians and you don't have to pull it up but it's remembering and knowing philippians verses 6 through 11 that beautiful christ hymn that helps us be obedient to philippians verse 14. the next point i have for you guys and if i could get worship team up on stage the next point is simply if you're taking notes to shine like the sun that if as a church we actually walked out what i'm talking about here and it's not easy but if we actually walked out what i'm talking about here simply laying down our life before christ that in our world we will definitely start to look different that we will shine like the sun in our world i also want to note that when it says to work out our salvation that is a plural verb and plural means more than one person and that the you there is a plural you paul is writing this to the church sometimes we can hear what i'm talking about and think that i'm speaking to you individually i'm speaking to all of us that we would do these things together it's not just simply praying for yourself but it's praying for yourself and checking in with someone else to ask them what they need prayer for too and praying for them and then telling them what you need prayer for so they can pray for you it's not just reading the bible with an obedient heart but it's reading the bible with an obedient heart and then checking in with your friend on what they're reading the bible on helping each other make sense and be obedient to what god is saying in his word that it's not just my relationship with god but it's our relationship together as the church with god you guys get what i'm saying okay we start to walk that out we start to look different that we would shine like the sun verse 15 through 16. so that you may become blameless and pure children of god without fault in a warped and crooked generation what's special about us here is who we're the child of what's special about us here is not us but it's the fact that we're children of him he's what's special we cling to him then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you as you hold firmly to the word of life if you could pull up colossians 4 for me verses 2 through 6. when i read the verses that said a crooked generation sometimes as the church we can look as if it's us versus them that's not the heart this is the way in which we actually interact with them it says devote yourselves to prayer being watchful and thankful and pray for us too that god may open a door for our message so that we may proclaim the mystery of christ for which i am in chains pray that i may proclaim it clearly as i should and this is for you be wise in the way you act towards outsiders make the most of every opportunity of every opportunity make the most the example i like to give is the grocery store clerk am i prayerful in that simple conversation make the most of every opportunity and let your conversation always be full of grace seasoned with salt so that you may know how to answer everyone seasoned with salt seasoned with salt sometimes we're like i just want to throw that salt on that thing and just get it no we are wise we're full of grace and we're making the most of every opportunity that's the way that we act in the crooked generation it's not us versus them we are them the only thing that brought us in was jesus it's not us versus them you would be doing the same stuff too if god didn't change you so what we do is we pray for every opportunity to try to share with them the mystery of christ and pray that god would do the same thing to their heart that god did to ours amen chill let's go to class uh colossians chapter three now just back one chapter in all of this we are not alone we are not white knuckling our way through obedience but we are clinging to jesus we're clinging to the word of life we are letting the peace of christ rule in your hearts since as members of one body you were called to peace and be thankful let the message of christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms hymns and songs from the spirit singing to god with gratitude in your hearts and whatever you do whether in word or deed do it all in the name of the lord jesus giving thanks to god the father through him and now i'm going to spoil the ending if you're taking notes write down spoil the ending we're gonna wrap it up here all of this and this is the church of philippi that's actually like actively being attacked actively may or may not go to prison actively may or may not be killed that paul is writing this to while paul is actively in prison we can feel like we are divided we can feel like we're under attack as a church and we are i don't want to like make that small that can happen but paul is writing this to people that are in fear of their lives and paul says this you know if you hold to everything that i just said if you're obedient to everything that i just said verse 16 then i will be able to boast on the day of christ that i did not run or labor in vain that when i'm serving god and it feels like i'm running on empty and when i can feel like i'm in the midst of some heavy suffering and i do not see the light at the end of the tunnel i'm just going through this thing on the day of christ it'll be worth it on the day of christ paul continues even if i am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith that even if i am just completely emptying myself out and not on my own but also on your sacrifice and your service to god if we are all just emptying ourselves out when we get to the end we will be able to boast and paul says i am glad and rejoice with all of you i can't imagine what that day will look like but i have a feeling that we will look up and see the face of our lord and savior jesus christ i will look to my left i will see many of you i will look to my right i will see many of you and in that moment i will not think about the sacrifices i've had to make for god in that moment i will see that and i will know it was worth it so you too should be glad and rejoice with me let's stand to our feet we made it through some tech issues look at us hey somewhere around you you're going to have a connect card now it's very important that as a church we don't isolate our walk with christ i'm not going through my walk with christ on an island you're not meant to be on an island there is someone who wants you to be on an island and that person does not want what's best for you the god who wants what's best for you wants you surrounded with people who can restore you and remind you of who you are in jesus christ our connect card it is a system but there's a heart behind that system which is to help you be connected in relationship with other believers that you would find friends and also find brothers and sisters in christ those are eternity friends those are friends forever in the truest sense the brothers and sisters where the holy spirit's in me and the holy spirit's in you and so with that you have some boxes you can check also i don't know what god is doing in your life right now i don't know if like all this message with tyler that was great none of it said listen i want you to write down your prayer request because i want to be praying for you so with that let's pray dear god thank you again for the work that you're doing that we can't see but lord i do pray that you're speaking to people and i pray god that we are coming to learn more about who you are know who you are god and that the gospel that we initially believed god i pray that we would continue in it i know that there's things that you want to do in my life i know there's things you want to do in our lives and i pray that we would listen for you and that we would follow what you'd like for us to do god i pray that we would not do so on our own but that we would do so as the church that we would grow in our relationship with one another as we grow in our relationship with you father i pray over people who have been hurt by the church i pray over people who have are currently facing suffering father i pray that you fill them with a faith in you that's just unbreakable god that they would try again not by putting their hope in people but because their hope is in you i pray that you would just help their faith to grow i pray over the one who doesn't know you yet and i pray that by your spirit you would pierce their heart that they would not come to you for anything other than you and relationship with you god i pray that you would do a work in all of us i'm grateful for you lord thank you and in jesus christ's name we pray to you amen
