All About Switching Up Your Planner Covers & Dividers | Tip Tuesday | Planning to Prosper |

[Music] hey guys welcome back to my channel and welcome to today's tip tuesday video today i'm going to share with you how to change out your planner covers and your dividers i am also going to share with you how to create a cover so for example if you're using a prosper you add-on like the budget add-on journaling add-on and all that if you want to use it completely on its own and you want to create a cover for it to make it a little bit easier to find as you're scrolling through everything i'm going to share with you how to do that it's super super simple so let's go ahead and get started the first thing i wanted to go over was how you receive your planner covers and dividers when you purchase them from my etsy shop i do have multiple sections in my shop dedicated to covers and dividers you will want to be careful about selecting the correct orientation for your covers and dividers so if you have a portrait planner like this one you'll want to get the portrait covers and dividers if you have a landscape planner like this one you will want to get the landscape covers and dividers so make sure you're going to the correct section check out the title of the listing the description of the listing as well to make sure you're purchasing the correct orientation and once you make your purchase you'll be able to download your files from etsy you'll do that by going to your profile your purchase history and then there will be a download files button right next to your order and the planner covers and dividers are delivered as a zip file so you'll want to download the zip file unzip it and then you'll get access to all of your covers and dividers inside the folder that you unzip you will find png images and that's essentially all that the covers and dividers are are png images and to change out your covers and dividers you just lay that png image right on top of the existing one and you're good to go so there are two ways to pull in new covers and dividers if you have an ipad like i do you can do split screen and you can also save the png image to your camera roll on your device and pull it in through the photos tool so i'll show you both ways today i do recommend too by the way always always always saving your downloads i mentioned this in a previous tip tuesday video but whenever you download a digital file in general on etsy i always recommend saving it to your files as a backup i feel like that is really important just in case anything ever happens to that file or you just want a fresh copy of it you will always have it handy without having to dig through your purchase history on etsy redownload the files and all that fun stuff so let's go ahead and get started i'm going to start out by sharing how to switch out a landscape cover so one big tip that i have is to resize your covers or switch out your covers rather in the opposite orientation so i have a landscape planner but i'm going to flip my ipad into portrait mode and i'm going to go ahead and pull up my files and i'll share with you the split screen option so i've got my kit for landscape planner covers let's see right here so if you have split screen available to you it's super easy you just hold down pull it on over and then you just drag and drop it over and the reason why i like doing it in the opposite orientation on the ipad is that it allows you to zoom out and it makes resizing it and layering the new cover on top super super simple so you're going to resize i always recommend using this diagonal button versus the vertical and like horizontal ones because those kind of distort the image as you can probably tell let me go ahead and start over real quick so if you just pull the diagonal one it's just going to keep that image intact it's not going to look wonky or anything so i'm just gonna resize that over and that is literally how simple it is and now when i flip this back into landscape mode i'm gonna go ahead and close this for now you will see that i now have my new cover and if i go out to my thumbnail section you will see in the thumbnail it has the new cover on it very pretty cover might i add i love i love this kit and the roses and everything now if you have a title on your cover so let's say i just have we'll make it simple i'm just going to label this my planner let's say i want to have a new cover on my planner but i want to keep my label on there super easy all you'll want to do is tap on your lasso and this is for goodnotes specifically but you'll want to tap on your lasso make sure images is selected off and then just circle this and cut it and then if i want to pull in a new cover let's see i'll show you the saving to the photo one so let's go ahead and save the balloons to my camera roll so this is a different way you can pull in covers so i if i went a little faster but all you have to do is when you have your file pulled up you're going to click on this little rectangle with the arrow sticking out click on save image and that's seriously how simple it is to save to your camera roll and then when i click on my photo tool in goodnotes it's going to be right here as one of my most recent images so i'm just going to resize it real quick we'll close that and again i prefer to flip mine into portrait mode because it just makes it really easy to resize in my opinion and then i'm going to tap on my lasso again and you're going to want to hold down your apple pencil or your stylus outside of this label area because when you hold down on this area it's going to think that you're trying to open a link because when you layer a new cover on top of the existing cover the links will still work which is really really nice but what you'll want to do is make sure you hold down outside of that area click paste and voila now we have our label all set and ready to go and like i mentioned when you tap on the label here it's still going to take you to the home page the links still work when you layer the covers and dividers on top so that is how to switch out a cover in landscape for portrait it's exactly the same process for that but i will show you the dividers for portrait mode so i'm going to go ahead and open up a portrait planner let's go ahead and open up to one of our dividers this is the farmhouse planner so i already have my ipad in landscape mode even though this is a portrait planner because again it just allows you to zoom out more which i feel like really helps when you're layering the dividers and the covers on top so let's say i want to change out the whole theme of my planner i purchased the farmhouse planner but i want to switch it up and i want a boho theme now i'm going to show you how simple that is there is a section in my etsy shop for planner design theme kits where you can actually purchase the entire kit to switch out the theme of your planner there are going to be six new themes per year three for the academic year and three for the traditional year and instead of buying a whole new planner say in may when i release the july to june planners you are in love with one of the themes of the planners the design and everything you won't feel super pressured to purchase the new planner just to get the new design there's actually kits available so you can switch out the whole theme of your planner without needing to purchase another planner so that is very exciting i am really excited i started kind of shopping around for new themes already and it'll be really fun to switch out themes whenever you're feeling like it and it kind of helps with like any sort of commitment issues you may have with like committing to a specific design because you can very very easily switch it out so anyways let me go ahead and show you how to switch this out so i'm going to go ahead and pull up my portrait dividers we will do split screen and then let's see i've got my kit one through three dividers my oh you know what i saved it on my desktop i think it's up here somewhere yeah boho portrait dividers so again for drag and drop you're just going to hold down drag it on over super super simple use that diagonal tool to resize and you can kind of zoom out as much as possible but it makes it really really easy and it doesn't have to be lined up perfectly either and again the hyperlinks will still work so when i tap on this little hyperlink here it's still going to take me there and when it goes back you'll see now i have my boho divider in there and you can just go through and switch all of them out if you would like to and then the other way to pull in a new divider is to save to your camera roll so again you're going to tap on the one that you want to save to your camera roll i really like that one there so i'm going to go ahead and save the image i'm going to tap on my photo tool here and then the first photo you see there is the divider itself so i'm going to tap on that and then again i'm just going to resize you can use your apple pencil you can use your finger whatever is easiest for you and we are all set to go and then again if you want to label it say that this is my budget planner so this is where i have put in my budget add-on and i want to save my label i don't want to switch out my label or anything very easy again you'll want to make sure images is checked off because if it is checked on this is what will happen i will circle this to cut it and click cut and it's going to pull up everything the image behind it as well whereas if i have images checked off and i go to cut it it's going to leave that divider alone so i'm going to cut that and then let's go ahead and pick out another one to use we'll pick this pretty like wavy pink one i'm going to save the image pull it in through my camera roll or you can also drag and drop it by holding it down and pulling it on over and that's if you have this grip split screen capability and then i'm going to resize and then again with my last i'm going to want to hold down the apple pencil outside of the divider versus on the divider it's going to say it's going to think you're wanting to open that link so and that's a little tip by the way for a good note specifically if you are wanting to jump around without having to turn the pen tool off you can always hold down the lasso to open a link so a little random tip there but i'm going to hold down my apple pencil here or my stylus outside of that divider label hit paste and then there we go there's my little label so that is all good to go so that is how simple it is to switch out your dividers and your covers and everything it is seriously so easy you are essentially just layering a photo on top of the existing page very very simple to do so now i would like to show you how you can create a planner cover for your add-ons or any sort of notebook really if you want to um to just make it easier to find or make it more visually appealing or cute whatever you want it to be so i'm going to go ahead and go to my add-ons and i'm actually going to share with you guys a sneak peek of the health and fitness add-on that i am working on right now so this is not a final version but i will show you a little sneak peek so this is the health and fitness add-on let's say i want to have this separate from my prosper you planner i don't want to insert in my planner i want to have it totally separate from everything else what i'm going to do is i'm going to go ahead and tap on these four little squares here you'll notice that the first page is highlighted so i'm going to tap on this little tiny triangle that's right there and i'm going to hit duplicate and that's going to duplicate that first page i'm going to stay on the very very first page and i'm going to go ahead and do the same thing i'm going to pull in a cover we'll go through my photo tool here and let's say i want to use these well that's landscape let's see i think i've got yeah a portrait one right here so i've got a portrait cover because it's a portrait orientation document so again you'll want to be very careful about selecting the correct orientation and everything if you have questions about which one to get definitely reach out to me but i'm gonna go ahead and resize that and then i'm gonna go ahead and label this and i will just label this health and fitness health and fitness and now when i go out you're gonna notice that there is a cover on my health and fitness add-on and i think i accidentally moved it a little bit so let me go ahead and move this down and then i'm going to move this okay so now when i go out you'll see that it is on there a little bit better but it switches it out to where now there's a cover on there and that makes it just really easy to find like if you're searching through things and you want to find it real quick so and little spoiler alert i will be coming out with a health and fitness specific kit i'm thinking about creating specific sticker kits to go with the add-ons so having like a health and fitness sticker kit a reading sticker kit meal planning a faith life sticker kit so this will be outside of my typical monthly releases it'll be the same format as my monthly sticker kits but just more specific so that if you want to use that particular like theme of stickers in your add-ons you can so that's something that i will be working on and there will be covers and stuff to match so that'll be really fun but the one really really cool thing about this is when i'm in here now the hyperlink for the label is not going to work because the add-on itself does not have that particular hyperlink in it but if you just scroll on over you'll hit that first page of your add-on and with my add-ons i kind of hyperlink them all the same way let me turn this over to portrait mode so whenever you're in the add-ons and i go over this in detail in the all about add-ons video if you want to check it out for more information about it but when you tap on a title like this one here it's going to take you back to that first page and same with like if i go to my monthly view sam in february again sneak peek of the health and fitness very fun i will tap on my title here and it's going to take me back to that cover so the only thing that you will need to know to do as far as navigating the add-on is just to swipe over from that cover to access that the add-on itself again you won't be able to tap here to access the first page you'll just need to swipe but when you're in the actual add-on itself and you're on your pages when you tap on the title of any page it's going to take you back to that cover which is really really fun so that's just a really great tip if you want to use an add-on by itself and you want to add a cover again all you have to do is duplicate that first page layer the cover on top of the very first page and you're good to go it is so so simple and it's just fun to switch out your covers and everything like that for the seasons or any particular holidays or if there's just a design that you absolutely love you can switch it out very very easily just another way that you can further customize your digital planner to work for you and all that so it's really really fun but anyways that is pretty much it for this tip tuesday video i hope that you all found this to be very helpful i know i've gotten a lot of questions about how to switch out your planner covers and dividers and all of that definitely stay tuned for every single planner launch again there will be three new design themes that are going to be released in may when i share the academic year planners the july to june planners as well as the january to december for 2023 isn't that crazy to think about there will be three new designs offered for each of those big planner launches and then again there will be those kits that you can get to switch out the theme the design of your entire planner very easily if you wanted to switch out the cover and all the dividers i'm going to guesstimate that it would probably take you like three minutes to do it honestly three to five minutes tops to switch out the entire
