Actions in Combat: Bonus Action - D&D 5E Tutorial

welcome to roll initiative where the rules from Dungeons and Dragons fifth edition become clear this week's clarification actions in combat bonus action we start with our hero Corwin our hero wants to take a bonus action before he can do this he needs to make sure he has an ability or spell that allows him to use a bonus action if he does not then he simply cannot use his bonus action in this turn our hero knows that the Goblin is standing on a trap and that the switch is behind the wall on the far side of the room in this example Corwin is a rogue with cunning action which is a bonus action ability he's going to use his bonus action for cunning action - - this gives him double his normal movement speed he runs to the far side of the room flips a switch using his action this triggers a spike trap that the Goblin is standing on and he falls to his death bonus actions can be the difference between a good turn and a great turn other examples of bonus actions are provided here but this list is not exhaustive if you would like to see more hints and explanations of the rules subscribe and send me your requests also be sure to follow us on Twitter at DM dear ol rules and click on the link below to visit our website which is your one-stop source for D&D 5th edition rules clarification thank you for watching

Nice video. But...

"Throw a lever or a switch" is specifically mentioned in the PHB as not requiring an action.

So someone could dash as their action and then throw a switch without needing a bonus action.

As for what to do next, I suggest Hiding, which can be confusing. (Or, maybe you've already done it?)

Just want to reiterate throwing a switch is a free action but great video dude keep them coming. May I suggest a video on the various fighting styles. See alot of questions about the duelist fighting style and shields.
