Question about movement, two different examples:

  1. Orc is prone, PC moves away. Does the Orc get an opportunity attack? (I think yes, but not sure)

  2. Orc is prone and crawls away. Does the PC get an opportunity attack? (I think yes, but also not entirely sure)

welcome to roll initiative where the rules from Dungeons and Dragons fifth edition become clear this week's clarification actions in combat movement we start with our hero Corwin once again there is a goblin attacking our hero we're going to go through several situations in which movement plays a large role in our hero's turn we're going to talk about moving between attacks difficult terrain how being prone affects movement and moving around other creatures we start with moving between attacks movement can be split this means if our hero has the extra attack ability he can move up to attack this goblin then move over to the next goblin and attack again next we're going to talk about difficult terrain combat often takes place in areas that contain difficult terrain for example : wants to get over to the Goblin but there's a pile of rubble in the way in order to get over each square with rubble it costs double the movement as a normal square notice the movement counter drops by 10 for each five-foot square of difficult terrain next the prone condition the prone condition applies any time our hero is on his back or hands and knees on the ground in this situation Corwin is already prone in order to stand up he must spend half his total movement speed in this situation his total his 30 feet so he expends 15 feet to stand up he may then move as normal if he chooses to crawl towards the Goblin each square costs double the movement if he chooses to crawl through difficult terrain each square costs triple the movement this is generally a bad idea next we're going to talk about moving around other creatures Corwin can move through an allied space with no penalty however you can only move through an enemy's face like this dragon if there are at least two sizes larger or smaller than him and that swear counts as difficult terrain you can also move around a creature without provoking an opportunity attack if you do not leave their reach if you would like to see more hints and explanations of the rules subscribe and send me your requests also be sure to follow us on twitter at D&D roll rules and click on the link below to visit our website which is your one-stop source for D&D 5th edition rules clarification thank you for watching
