Accuracy in the Mk12? A brand new Mk12 Mod0 upper from PRI.

released our classic review on the mark 12 where we discussed the rifle's development and initial implementation we also included a fairly comprehensive accuracy test where we took multiple representations of the mark 12 from probably two most widely available commercial versions of the mark 12 that being bcm and pri and we tested them with a wide range of match grade ammunition both suppressed with the aem5 and unsuppressed as well we knew that the group sizes that we were going to be posting to represent what we were able to achieve were a bit larger than well what most other people post when it comes down to mark 12 groupings and since that video has gone up we've had good conversations with some very skilled shooters who have in some cases echoed our findings and in other cases perhaps not so what we decided to do was to give the mark 12 just another quick look to see if our test was still maintaining its level of accuracy with a brand new 2020 complete factory pri upper now the thought process here is we're all pretty aware of what henry's shooting skill is and it's definitely my opinion that the shooting fundamentals that henry has weren't the limiting factor in being able to print up the groups that we represented the last time that we did this test and so it got us thinking perhaps the representations that we were shooting before which were heavily shot guns oh maybe they were loosening up with age and we needed to give it another go with again brand new up so henry take it away you ready [Music] let's do it okay audio's on let's go we just finished shooting i just got my audio rolling so this is entirely organic we're looking at exactly what we just saw this is the imi color group what does this tell us suppressed up top unsuppressed on the bottom right now we'll put the group size right here because i don't have my calipers with me what i do see however the a if you're looking at the 80 grouping of these two groups the point of impact did not shift however by using the suppressor slash moderator we're able to tuck in some of the inconsistent uh velocities or projectiles that were coming out so it was able to tighten the grouping without a point of impact shift now this is pretty close to what we saw i believe what we saw with the pri we'll roll some b-roll of what we saw of the pri shooting the color box right here so you can see afterwards now let's go look at the venerable mark 262 this is the pri's grouping you can see suppressed on top unsuppressed on the bottom we'll put the group size on the side it does appear that the suppressor had shrunk down a lot more of the 80 the 80 of the grouping uh it does look like there is a slight point of impact shift with the mark 262 and it does appear that this particular pri favors the mark 262 which by the way we saw 18 rounds of the 26 rounds of mark 262 that i had in inventory i don't expect to have any more of that stuff so congratulations what does this tell us last time the mark 262 i don't think was the tightest grouping ammunition in fact it was not it was quite disappointing last time but this time it outperformed the imi in this particular rifle this this newly built pri upper i could say that for this particular opera it appears to prefer the mark 262 an unobtainium ammunition for us in the civilian world uh but does that mean that mark 262 is the de facto titus grouping ammunition last time it did not appear so online i continually see people post three five shot groupings and um those seem to be the representation of the the mark 12. when i first got my mark 12 i thought that there was something wrong with my mark 12 until i shot a lot more than just my mark 12 a couple different variants mod one mod zeros as well um i think a lot of times sometimes we get a little bit of a variation from inconsistent data collection online and that may skew our ideas on how well these systems perform i think the mark 12 favors the suppressor and shoots a mark 262 well or whatever ammunition that you can test with it i would recommend for you to go test your own ammunition and draw your own conclusions from it however what we've done in the last test in this test i do think is a good indication on the accuracy potential of the mark 12 mod 0 system does that mean that the mark 12 is a good target rifle it would appear that there are other target rifles on the market that shoot tighter groupings however the mark 12 does have one of the most efficient suppressors on the market it does have an ability of engaging targets up into 800 and beyond these are things that we cannot deny from the mark 12. it depends on the environment that you're using are you using it for hunting are you using it for deployment you may not need a target rifle you may want a more efficient sound suppressor you may want um a more compact package because you're in infill and x filling into locations goes down understand that accuracy is only one part of the equation there's a lot more to the system than just the accuracy however it is a very very capable system as we have shown when we were using the the actual suppressor
