ABANDONED ORPHANAGE CLOSED BECAUSE OF ITS DARK HISTORY - ABANDONED PLACES UK

in today's episode we explore st joseph's orphanage the orphanage was opened in september 1872 and cost 6 000 pounds to build the building was designed into three sections a place for the orphans to live a place to house the nuns and a place for guests and visitors in 1877 a further gift was given of an unknown amount to construct the hospital for the poor and sick in 1905 the children were moved to a nearby location and the orphanage became a full-time hospital during the first and second world war the hospital was used to take care of sick and injured soldiers returning from europe in 1958 it then became a nursing home before completely closing in february 2003. in 2007 the building nearly sold but the sale fell through because of the financial collapse at the time the orphanage now sits abandoned and decaying join us as we venture inside and see what remains [Music] [Music] all right so we are in the east wing of the hospital and you can see where they've still got the old belfast sinks that looks a bit like a baby change doesn't it not really sure about that one guys but if you can let me know we just have a little explorer this part before we head over and check out the chapel and check out the operating rooms and fingers crossed find the morgue because we couldn't find it last time i'm not going to put the lights on at the moment so you can get the vibe of the place it is four stories and we will be exploring everything but this is a bit random this bath in the middle of the room strange like no need for that oh well there you go call the decay and the paint peel like i said this place is very derelict no it's ice isn't it it's amazing with the curtains still there as well let's check out this courtyard the big tower there the rumor is that you can see a nun in the tower but she must be good at climbing because you can't really get on that side of the building the floors have all fell through and everything so unless she's got a big set of ladders i don't really see how she's doing it so like i was saying i'm not 100 on when it was built i think it's late 1800s and it was an orphanage before turning into a hospital and then a care home but this place is awesome it's all emptied out in this part i'm not going to spend too much time in this side because it's pretty much like this and i do want to show the chapel and that because it's amazing but right so let's go and head down and see what we can see here there's lots of stuff in the other part yeah so it'll be pretty amazing let's get that light on now like i was saying guys it's very derelict in this side but you can make out the wallpaper just old tv in here there's a beautiful building there's in my frames here i'll need one of them soon going up and down these ladders all the time what do you think that is it does look yeah strange isn't it yeah it's got the system on the back as well i'm not really sure must be a baby change these look like they could be some of the rooms from when it was a nursing home it must just be a baby change yeah check that out just have a little look over here [Applause] this old dusk side piece look at that it's nice isn't it obviously it's missing the drawer off the front but you can see all the details in it that's nice yeah that's what i mean it's nice out there should we head around this way it's very dark and check the whole fire hoser there's another one of those buffs look at this place man all right we're right in the center now that's just took so much effort to get here but right in the center this place is unbelievable we're now gonna head into that bit where the chapel is and then hopefully up there to where the operating rooms are that's the hard work done now fingers crossed and it should just be a straight up explore here you are look at this from when it was a nursing home now it's pretty well known so everyone's been on there on here saying the name so i'm not too worried about it wow what a place but right now we're just gonna head through that little entrance there and continue our little explore that's the hard work done just had to climb through there all right right now we're beneath the chapel which is directly above us and uh this is the center part and then here's the west wing over there but this is where stuff starts being left behind wheelchair zimmer frame this is the really decayed this part of the building so i don't think we're really going to go that way much just because of the state of the place i love an explorer but i don't have a death wish let's have a look through here see i don't really know my way around this bit much the light on there still got the soggy carpets here now this place is crazy because these long photogenic car corridors i think the place is haunted no me neither i think it's just creepy it's very airy i do want to find the uh the morgue because i've not seen that yet i think it's one of the only bits of the hospital i haven't seen all right so we're just gonna head round this way see what we can find as a basement there seems to open out there i think this was like a service way into the asylum asylum orphanage what do we have here oh my god [Music] [Music] [Music] see i've never seen this bit before guys [Applause] check that out jesus sir that's in good condition but i do actually know the story behind this yeah there was an urban explorer here and he tried to move the table for pictures and it tipped and cracked you can see where they put a flower on there as well but you can still see all the drain lines so where the blood would drain down and go into the uh the plug there that's amazing all them dead bodies on there yeah crazy isn't it wow it's a shame it's broken it's not been broken too long either it's only been broken in six months say not long i still have this one here which isn't not as good like but still look at my boy jesus uh just chilling crazy isn't it got carpet underneath you can see where people have been pissing about with candles his knees gone he's been kneecapped that's amazing though isn't it such a shame looks good with all the paint peel around him as well doesn't he have to get a picture of that before before we go it is huge he's a big boy right i'm glad i found the morgue that's uh off my list now so now we need to see the chapel which is upstairs and operating rooms which i really want to see all right we're heading up now towards the chapel there guys i'm so happy now it was proper on the bucket list tipped off so that's happy days right where are we now we are just behind the chapel there's a few bits of furniture left there you can see the old stained glass window that's been put through and chucked down but check this room guys look at this honestly this is one of my favorite rooms on an explorer let's check out all that architecture i get that excited in here i've got all the details you okay hon no it's a bit uh seen better days on it this room but it's beautiful shame about the windows being put through absolute clowns doing that in it just nothing better to do but look at this all the covings coming down the wall into these archways all around this stage didn't show that let me check this out guys all this detail behind all the glittering gold look really cool if you add the right lighting you talk then pigeon wow see all right let's just see pigeon i hope watch watch i'll stop just wish i'll stop you amazing look at that guys different level this is done in this building you can just see our into the courtyard there where we just were what do you think are you talking to the pigeons so wrong with you kid oh you flew at me the birds work for the bourgeoisie so next next stop should be the east wing down yeah next stop east wing where all the medical supplies are and all the uh hospital stuff perfect you ready let's go just walking down these steps now you can see this uh sign for the chapel praise be jesus christ i wonder why they had a morgue in an orphanage a bit strange isn't it why would you have a chapel in there as well so the orphanage was open in 1872 was it oh that's what the sound says 1872 i knew it was something like that all right push the floor yeah after it was an orphanage it was a hospital and then a nursing home yeah i know it's dangerous isn't it lethal this place definitely worth coming though watch lisa's face light up now here's all the hospital equipment yeah so all the hospital equipment that they're no longer using all in here all the office furniture there's beds chairs everything it's just piled up in here bedside table sir there's a couple of rooms like this as well so go and talk me through some stuff earn your money so many strange noises isn't that it's crazy who are pitching us making these weird noises he was saying who who's this you just see this bed underneath here electric bed yeah crazy isn't it i love all the paint peel a strange place it is proper hospital vibes down this end isn't it these double doors into this corridor and there is like a sort of garden here where you can see all the balconies going up where the different wards so the patients would come out and enjoy the garden not much of a garden nowadays though i started dab for the plasterboard oh hey i knew something from my job there's proper classic hospital doors isn't it look at that somebody set shoes up for pictures they've got odd shoes attention to detail with some people is amazing hey is that your favorite room yes there's more equipment in here freezes uh yeah definitely all the wheelchairs these are electric wheelchairs as well no expense bad i love this though check this out belladom oh it's so loud yeah another bad idea with the uh [Music] what would they use that for i did wonder that well there's a road right there so people are walking past all the time check this bad out see him walk past they've got no idea we're in here look at this bed i think that's fake blood isn't it it's got mold on it though blood don't go mouldy does it no have we debunked it does blood go mouldy no there's so much stuff in here though let's check out why would you have random shopping trolleys yeah probably just all thrown together in here yeah with them they'd have the balls on the bottom wouldn't they yeah right we're gonna start heading into north wing i think it is that's where the operating rooms are at the top of that so that'll be pretty interesting it's just there's so much you could spend ages in here just looking at all the like little details but yeah there's just so much in here it's crazy all right show you how that these old brass banisters this place is insane do you like it i love doing this big stuff plenty more to come on the channel look at this going through these double doors so i wanna try and show as much as i can hey let's look on that uh balcony so this is where the patients would come out enjoy a bit of sun look into the garden look how beautiful it is just left for the pigeons now it's amazing isn't it yeah i just want to have a little look through whilst we head upstairs see what we have in these these offices looks like it it's cool it's so strange that this is just dead in the city center as well isn't it but it also explains a lot of damage look more of those baby change things that black in my head them i have no idea what they are i'm sure they are someone let me know in the comments if you uh if you know what they are wow look through that window there that's pretty cool isn't it just looking into the chapel imagine this place in its prime clothes i think around 2000 early 2000s so what's that 21 years ish give or take a few months wow look at that lead paint we shouldn't really be breathing this in but it is what it is i think up to the next floor now yeah it's well ventilated we're all right it was very cold today middle of winter all right so back out onto the narrow stairs brass banister really starting to rain now as well i've got one more floor after this have a check that that's why somebody's really tried to stop people going in but then there's a door so that was in vain wasn't it we'll just have a little look through here a little office oh wow let's have a quick look down here i don't think i've been down this big before oh she's so noisy you know sheepish coming around there sheepish look at that view that is amazing [Music] yeah it's similar it's similar to prague [Applause] just have a quick look through these rooms before we head into the operating rooms hey that's a bit creepy isn't it just a random chair though i wonder if that's where the uh ghost sits because we're up by that tower now but look like i was saying guys you know when there they say there's a ghost in the tower how's the ghost going through there and there's the tower ain't nobody in there just a pigeon i don't know it's just like urban myth isn't it urban legend but there's a tower imagine if someone was in there now though i'd be off i'd be ditching you i'd be gone if there was someone in that tower i'd be gone you'd be eating my dust it's nice though isn't it yeah it's amazing building it's a shame that they don't build stuff like this anymore they just throw bits together now don't they in these like just plain square basic buildings just no thought put into it anymore into architecture right so i'm just going to head down this way into the operating rooms this has not seen them before i don't think you've even seen a picture have you um no i don't think so no this is gonna she's gonna love this all right let's head down to him into the boarded room check this look at this i'm real isn't it i think it still moves did it still move because it wasn't there last time there you go it's amazing isn't it steady on the size of that guys look out these windows onto the city kind of a few rooftops anyway yeah see through here this should be a good shot from the courtyard there you go guys st joseph orphanage but isn't that amazing and check the other one another one head through here what's this you know i'm not really sure what any of that is a bit of a random room there into the next room so two huge lights just left for the pigeons what do you think it is good isn't it this is why i wanted to come back and do a video on it one of my regrets from last year guys is i come to this place and never filmed it but i'm so glad we're back and to be fair we actually got caught last time we didn't get caught today yet yeah yeah so there would have been a table here then wouldn't and obviously the big light not really sure what's up here not been appeared before i know what this is it's the kids rooms look at these best definitely the kids rooms oh wow [Music] [Music] what crazy room this is does the top of the lift there as well oh this is very airy this one guys this head out onto the roof then yeah look at that i'm not gonna stand on that guy's just because look at the state of it and i'll end up on the uh on the fast track out of here wow what a place this is and that room is freaky as i'm
