Today I will tell you about a project that took a month of daily work, hundreds of sensors, a thousand connections, a lot of difficulties and problems. And as a result, a smart countertop, analogues of which I haven't seen. Enjoy watching. So, we proceed to making a table consisting of honeycombs. In general, such tables have already been made by dozens or even hundreds of craftsmen before us. And in general, there is a legend that every self-respecting epoxy craftsman should pour a table of honeycombs. We started this, but decided to go a little further and make such a table with smart filling, but first things first. The countertop will be made of oak, and, as you understand, the frames of Andrei preparing oak boards are not accidental here. We will make a shield out of them. First, we pass them through the jointer, and then we bring them to the same size using a planer. When all the boards are in the same size, we are gluing them together. Here everything is simple: boards, glue and clamps. While you are watching the work, I want to tell you about one cool thing that appeared back in the summer of 2020 and instantly became a hit. This is Mozabrik - an endless photo constructor. That is, from small elements of the constructor of five colour gradations, you can assemble any photo in the style of pixel art. And when you get bored - disassemble and assemble any other picture. This is done very simply, and the result is guaranteed to cause a wow effect. How it happens: You buy a constructor, go to the site, upload a photo and choose the layout you like. You will immediately receive assembly instructions by mail, or proceed to assembly according to the interactive instructions immediately on the site. And from 5 colours you can assemble any image. I myself gladly assembled such a picture in one of the previous videos and was really delighted. I will leave a link to that video in the description. Mozabrick.ru is the official website and online store of the manufacturer. They are produced, by the way, in Russia. You can choose from two sizes - S and L. The constructor is suitable for all ages and any gender, making it a cool gift for any occasion. Moreover, according to my promo code, you will receive a 20% discount. You will find the link and promo code in the description, and we continue. The next day the glue is dry and I put the shield on the CNC. I fix it with a vacuum, probably for many it will be news that the vacuum table works through MDF, and the workpiece is held tightly, which I demonstrate in the frame. Personally, I was very surprised when I found out this feature. Well, then a few hours of CNC work, the program is set up in such a way that it does not cut the honeycombs to the end, quite a bit, so that they remain strictly in their places. As a result, we have just such an apiary, which I polish before pouring it with epoxy. Otherwise, the pile and shavings will remain in the fill forever, oddly enough. The next step is to remove some of the honeycomb solely by my own taste or lack thereof. I would like to read about this in the comments. When all the necessary, or rather unnecessary, honeycombs are removed, we prepare the countertop for pouring. As you can see, after milling, the countertop moved a little, so we press it around the entire perimeter with clamps and apply silicone around the perimeter. Yes, yes, I know that it would be easier to cut the end off straight, and then it would take less silicone and the work would be done faster, but we are not looking for easy ways. Therefore, we have what we have. And finally, using the technology patented by me, we finger in a circle. For the first layer, as well as for the subsequent ones, I took the “Crystal Epoxy” compound from Artline, since the fill layer is small, and this compound cures, or rather it would be more correct to say it polymerizes, i.e. turns into a polymer, in just a day, which is very convenient for layer-by-layer work, as in this case. I slightly tinted it in blue colour. As a result, this layer should fill the volume by 60-70%. In the meantime, these 60-70% are converting into polymer, we are engaged in the underframe. The underframe will be unpretentious, also made of oak. We file it in the right size, at the right angle, make a selection, gluing, in general, everything is as usual, Andrey was mainly engaged in all this, so if you have any questions, you are welcome to his Instagram. The legs will be attached in such a simple and reliable way. We attach these mortgages on a pocket hole joint using a Kreg jig. In the meantime, the first layer has cured, I mix the same compound. The second layer should be opaque, but thin, so that the wires, LED tape and other communications are not visible, but so that the light from the tape breaks through. You will understand a little later. This is why I lightly tint the resin and add colour powder. In fact, it is a very fine metallic pigment. And I fill it with a layer of a couple of millimetres. As a result, in the main layer, the light will evenly spread and rest against this opaque layer, so we get the most vivid effect. If we filled the entire layer with a metallic pigment, then the light would practically not pass through it and the intended effect would not work. Since this pigment is heavier than resin, it has to be lifted from the bottom periodically, like this. This must be done just before the resin starts to set, then it will be possible to fix it in the desired position, which is what I am doing. When the 2nd coat is cured I spill the countertop with the final 3rd coat. Since in the end the countertop will be calibrated, part of the resin will be cut off by the cutter, as a result, the 2nd layer may be exposed, and gaps may appear, through which the backlighting elements will be visible, which does not suit us at all. That's why the final layer is transparent and we will calibrate it. Before calibrating the countertop, we cut it to size using a saw with a broach. For the final calibration, we use just such a cutter from CMT, it does its job perfectly, and most importantly, it practically does not chip epoxy, even in such complex fillings. Which is what you see on the screen. And now the original idea of not cutting to the end of the honeycomb becomes clear. The next step is to make a tricky selection with a spiral cutter. After a few hours of CNC operation, the countertop looks like this. It remains to remove the pile and do the most interesting. Before laying out and connecting all the filling, I cover the countertop with a matte varnish. Considering that this is the inner side, it would be possible to do without it, but in this way we will slightly increase the light transmission and, in general, the product will look neater. And of course, I also cover the front side with my favourite matte varnish. In order to achieve the intended effect, we need to build in about a hundred touch sensors, but we decided to go even further and strengthen them in order to make the effect even cooler. Then we make a hundred aluminium rings, on which the address tape will be glued. They will also play the role of a radiator for cooling. As you can see, all the materials at hand and an old pipe of a suitable diameter are used. In the end, we have a hundred aluminium rings, a hundred reinforced sensors, and a week of soldering and assembly time. I ordered all the electronic components in our country, I leave links in the description of the video. Special thanks for the prompt delivery, I can safely recommend this store. The whole circuit will work on Arduino, I don't really understand all this electronics, that's why Lyosha appeared in our team. He made all the “stuffing” for this project, thanks a lot to him. Thanks to him, our projects reach a new level. For all questions in the development of various devices based on microcontrollers and analogy systems, you can write to him, you will find the link in the description. As a result, the project took about a month of daily work. Of course, we are interested in creating just such complex projects. For obvious reasons, this will be possible only thanks to your support, if such videos gain views, they will appear regularly, so everything is in your hands. Like, repost and comments help to promote the video very well. Thanks for watching and catch positive attacks from the Axe.
