Today we’ll be making a
very interesting dining table, I’ve never seen such
a table on YouTube. A lot of difficulties, experiments
and, in the end, a decent result. Sit back, bon appetite. In general, this photo inspired
me to create such a table, once I came across it and
decided why not make such a table. Well, then it remains to solve
all the technical difficulties. This, by the way, is
my favourite pastime. We decided to start by
creating bowls for spices. To do this, we took an oak glued
board and dissolve it to the desired size. Yes, yes, someone glues
and we unglue, such a job. And we already put strips
of suitable size on the CNC. For the first pass, it was decided to
use a cutter with a rounding of 2 mm in order to slightly process the
chamfer and avoid chipping in the future. But looking ahead, I will
say that it was superfluous, since the next spiral milling
cutter from CMT did its job perfectly. And you could start
working with it right away. Links to all consumables and materials,
as always, are in the description. In the process, instead of bowls,
we decided to make simple rings, since no one will use
them, and after we fill them, no one will understand
whether it is a bowl or a ring. And if there is no
difference, why pay more. As a result, we have just such a
blank; the rings are deliberately not completely cut, and we go to
the calibrating grinding machine. On which we remove half a mm. and safely take out the bowls, or rather
the rings, which will imitate the bowls. We round off the chamfer
on both sides on a router, and we have a finished product,
which remains only to paint. Given the large
number of similar parts, I decided that the easiest
way to paint them is by dipping. It saves a lot of time, reduces costs,
and anyone can handle this way. The main thing here is not to
overexpose the workpiece in the stain, otherwise it may
deform after drying. And in the second step, we do the
same technique, but with varnish, in order to isolate the stain
and wood, otherwise the stain would paint the
epoxy around it in the future. As a result, it took more than one day
and a lot of material to make these rings. I started to figure out how
much it cost me and realized that it was probably easier to buy
ready-made bowls on Aliexpress. At least if you don’t have your own CNC
machine, it’s definitely more profitable. It is especially important
to do this now, since 11.11 there is the largest
annual sale on Aliexpress, during which you can get coupons
and bonuses for the purchase of goods, discounts for which reach 70%,
and sometimes even reach 90%. i.e. these bowls would cost me
really less than making them myself. But God be with
them, with these bowls. Personally, I never miss 11.11 as it’s
the top sale of the year on Aliexpress. Just two days, when you can buy
anything here with real huge discounts. Register at Letyshops, if for
some reason you haven't done it yet, download the browser extension,
since cashback from Letyshops will help you to get the
most out of your purchases. Moreover, during the
main sale, it will triple. To do this, you need to register
using the link. If registered, just activate the Lety-code
lety1111 in your account. And that's not it. Among those who
made purchases from Letyshops on 11.11, can win 12 iPhones 12. One
purchase - one ticket. Go for it. In the meantime, the bowls are
drying, we are working on the countertop. It’ll be simple,
classic from oak. First of all, we pass the
beam through the planer in order to get a
perfectly flat side. And when such a side
already exists, starting from it, we level the opposite one
with the help of marking gauge. Then we cut these
bars at 45 degrees and make a selection
in such a tricky way. As a result, glass will lie
in these grooves on one side and plywood on the
other. We dissolve it in size. And when all the details of the
puzzle are there, we proceed to gluing. We did not make any
additional connecting elements, since this box will be filled
with resin, and as a result, even with a strong desire, it
won’t be possible to break it. In order not to measure
the diagonal, we put correctly cut plywood in the niche and
thereby make our life easier. After a couple of hours, as the
glue has dried, I start grinding. When the workpiece is sanded
and ready for painting - we paint it, oddly enough, in the
same colour as the bowl rings. Now let's move on to the fun
part: we lay out all the pieces. It’s clear that it would not have
been possible to do with spices alone, since I really wanted to make
each bowl different and individual, and, by the way, there
are more than 70 of them. And in the end, we
practically succeeded, only a few duplicate
positions came out. But putting everything in
its place is half the battle. Now we need to make sure that
everything remains in place after pouring. To do this, I pour the first
primer layer, which impregnates all the fillers, thereby
holding them together and minimizing the release of
air from them in the future. For this purpose, I chose
“ArtLine” resin called “Honey”, as it’s relatively thick
and dries quickly. As a result, it created an
excellent primer coat. In the meantime, this layer dries,
we are engaged in the underframe. Everything is simple here: 4
legs that will be interconnected. But first, these legs need to be
glued, which is what we are doing. With the same spiral
cutter, we make a selection using a
copy sleeve bushing. But it is clear that after the round
cutter there is a rounded track, and we bring it up with the
chisels of the Petrograd factory. We have been using their tool for a
long time and we boldly recommend it, everything is really done with high
quality, and most importantly with soul. Links, as always, will
be in the description. In the meantime, Andrei
finishes work with the underframe, I remind you that we were nominated
for the "best DIY blogger 2020" award. In the nomination "in
the carpenter's workshop". Last year we were
quite a bit short of the first place and we took the
second. So every vote counts. If you have a desire
to support us, I'll leave a link to vote in the
description. Thanks. While the underframe is
drying, we’ll do the final pouring. For these purposes, I took the
compound "Monolith 10", and as a result, 18 kg of resin
was spent on this small table. As you can see, the first primer has
worked great and everything is in place. To be honest, I was pleasantly
surprised, as I thought that most of the positions
would lose their appearance very much after
being filled with resin. But in fact, they have
become even more saturated. But this can be said with confidence
after the resin has completely polymerized. And while it cures, we
paint the underframe. Of course, in the same,
my favourite colour. I also remind you that the
authors of the most interesting and liked comments end up
on our wall from the comments. Today it is these comments,
as well as the nicknames of all our sponsors on YouTube
and Boosty are posted here. And we just need to assemble
everything and evaluate the result. To be honest, I get great
pleasure from such difficult projects. And I would like to
show you such content, but it’s clear that they are
time consuming and costly. Therefore, a big request for
help in distributing this video. Like, comment and share the video
on any of the social networks work best. In general, if you liked the project
and you want to see something like this on a regular basis,
everything is in your hands. Thanks! And catch positive
attacks from the Axe. And also don’t miss
the 11.11 sale on Ali, get your cashback and
the opportunity to win one of 12 iPhones 12. All the
details are in the description.
