A Sense of Place: The Sugarbush

So the sugar bush is where all of Dartmouth's maple trees are and it's where we sugar crew come every year to have a lot of fun and tap trees. Sugar bush is a magical place. During the winter, it takes an ethereal feel, you know, everything's covered in snow and you're just with your friends tromping along getting liquid gold from trees. It's wonderful. And I love the sugar bush and sugar shack down here. It's a place of community where I've found so many of my actually best friends at Dartmouth. At Dartmouth, there's no place like this. There's no place that one can go with a small group and really be alone. You know, in the sugar bush, it's really just you and the crew. And there's something really wonderful about that community that can exist outside of homework, outside of every social commitment that Dartmouth asks of you, you're just alone in a sugar bush with your friends.
