so if you're thinking about visiting Thailand then this might be the perfect time I spent the first couple months of my digital NORAD Journey living in Thailand specifically in changai kangan and Bangkok so after living in a different side of Thailand I want to share about my honest thought about living in Thailand as a digital Nomad or as an expert in general Thailand so far has been my favorite country to live in and it's for the various reasons that I'm going to share with you so the first one is the visa requirements as an Indonesian I got 30 days visa extension but I heard Thailand just implemented a new Visa regulations so now they have 93 countries that can enter Thailand without Visa or visa extension it is really amazing because beside of adding several countries that now can enter Thailand without a prior Visa uh requirement they also extended the stay from 30 days to 60 days and I'm so excited about this because I'm planning to go back to Thailand this year and I was planning to get a tourist visa which will allow you to stay for 60 days but with this visa extension now you don't really have to get the tourist visa and I also know I eventually want to stay in Thailand long term so yeah Visa wise like before what from my understanding you can only apply for the elate Visa if you want to stay longterm or you can also get the student visa where you can learn Thai language or um learn my Thai and it will allows you to stay for like three months six months depending on the type of Visa you want to get but they just introduced a new type of Visa it's called DTV Visa or destination Thai Visa that will allows you to stay in Thailand for the period of 180 days and this Visa is geared towards digital Nomad people who want to stay longer in Thailand um for medical reason or learn mu Thai Thai cooking or Thai language so it's not it's not just student visa because with student visa you're not allowed to work in Thailand but because DTV Visa also geared towards digital NAD so technically you can work remotely from Thailand with this type of Visa now what's really exciting about this type of Visa is it's renewable for 5 years so after 180 days once you finish your fiza you still can renew it the cost for this Visa is also very affordable in my opinion so you have to pay around 10,000 tib so it's around 270 or $275 us for 180 days so some of the requirements if you want to apply for this Visa is first you need to be 20 years old or older and you need to have 500,000 TI bought for financial proof now I I'm not sure whether it can be from your local bank or you have to have 500,000 Thai bath um in a Thai local bank some people said it was very timec consuming but I also heard um from some other friends that it was very convenient to open a Thai bank account the other thing that hasn't been confirmed yet is whether or not you can go out of Thailand and reenter again with the DTV Visa because for example here in Bali you can apply for the six months Visa but once you get get out from Indonesia you need to apply for a new visa when you want to enter Indonesia again in that period of time so another good thing is I heard you can also apply from within Thailand or from the Thai Embassy in your home country so for people who are already in Thailand um it will save them a lot of time a lot of money to apply from Thailand instead of flying back to your home country and go to the Thai Embassy and the other part about this Visa is it's very generous because it's not only for you but it also cover your spouse and your children if you have children under 20 years old so it obviously raised a lot of question um one of them is is health insurance required for this type of Visa although it wasn't listed in the initial requirement I still think it's very important to get a travel health insurance if you're traveling to Thailand or any part of South East a Asia I always recommend safety wings for my friends or people around me because safety Wings is the most reliable travel health insurance that I have encountered it is the perfect health travel insurance for a digital Nomad or people who work remotely in Southeast Asia where a lot of people drive by you definitely want to get yourself protected because when you get into an accident and when you have to go to hospital the cost can pull out really easily and it can cost a lot even in s this Asia so having a travel health insurance will give you a huge peace of mind and the best thing about safy Wing is instead of paying for entire year it's a monthly basis if you want to know more about safety Wing I'll put a link down below where you can check it out but yeah if you guys have any information feel free to share it um at the comment section down below so we can share some information together with this type of Visa it definitely makes it a lot easier for people who wants to experience how the life is in Thailand for me before I had to do border run um which mean like I have to get out from the country um go to another country and then when I enter Thailand again then I had another 30 days visa extension or I can also go to the immigration office and extend the visa for another 30 days for 1,900 Thailand but now before I share a lot more about my honest thought um of living in isent I just want to say that this is my personal opinion um when I shared about my honest thought about living in Den for some reason people just take it as like I kind of encourage people to not live in dang which is not the point at all if you listen to the video but yeah take everything with a grain of salt whether it's coming from me or coming from anyone else obviously what I like about a certain place what I'm looking for from certain place is different from what anyone else is looking for the second thing that I want to share about is the cost of living in Thailand the cost of living is very affordable especially compared to other bigger cities or Islands here like Bali the rent there is almost half of the rent in Bali and you still get a good quality of life from there I notice when you go to places like Bangkok or kangan um the cost of the rent can be slightly higher and I was really surprised with kangan because I thought it wasn't it was like a smaller area compared to Bangkok or changai but kangan is an island and I think when it's when you live in an island usually cost the cost of living is also slightly higher because they need um they also have to transport a lot of goods to the island and that takes more time and yeah it cost a lot more more transportation and eating out Wise It's also still considered affordable um in Bangkok obviously you have a lot of option whether you want to D out at a more fancy restaurant or if you just want to eat local Thai food which I highly recommend because they're just so good and they also have the 7eleven oh my God I miss Tha 7eleven they have the best selection so if you if you have been to Thailand or if you live in Thailand you definitely know what the hive is about they also have a big grocery store where you can go um and do your grocery shopping my favorite one is still mro because they have the nicest selection and the price is also very affordable for transportation I use b or grab where I was in Bangkok and changai um but you can also like rent your own scooter and drive around it was like still very manageable to drive in Thailand I'm really excited to check out Thailand again this year um I probably will stay in Bangkok and also I want to check out a different part of Thailand because it is definitely like one of my favorite country it's like on top of there so yeah um I'm excited to go back to changai for the Lantern Festival by the end of this year and I still haven't really decided where I want to stay um let me know if you stayed in a different part of Thailand outside from changma or Bangkok um I Heard kamo and puket is also really nice and I'm excited to check out hin as well but yeah a lot of exciting plans I feel like when you move to a country the environment the community is a huge impact on your quality of life so yeah guys that's my honest thought about living in Thailand and yeah some update about the new Visa requirement I'm very excited about that I hope that we like um it start being implemented today June 1st so we'll see how it goes and yeah and yeah if you have any experience about living in Thailand or you're planning to live in Thailand um we can share your thoughts down below and yeah I'd love to hear more from you guys and that's it for this video I'll see you on my next one bye
