welcome to soab Bond Express this is a puzzle game about chemistry here I have a hydrogen atom with a single electron and I guess another hydrogen atom I have to draw a line that basically acts as a train for the first hydrogen atom to go down then when you press play it'll move down the line bond with the other hydrogen am and get to its goal oh you learn a little bit smartphones are stuffed with elements one device was estimated to use around 75 elements 2/3 of the whole periodic table here we got an oxygen atom which has two electrons I think on its outer layer so I want it to bond with two hydrogen atoms and you can actually see how the whole molecule move this is quite literally H2O so I've made water and it has to get there some chemical elements are considered endangered the IND we use to make smartphone touch screens work is one of them and now we got a funny little nitrogen atom so I think this almost like a trap right cuz I assume you can't build the path backwards it will bond with all three hydrogens as you wanted to but you're stuck so I guess you got to go the long way yeah so I guess one would Bond on the left side I have one Bond on top and if I go around like this can it go off the edge of the board cuz I was thinking i' bond with the right side and then get to its goal but I don't know the limitations of this game so Bonds on top it can hang off the edge of the board and obviously they can't physically overlap with each other helium was one of the first things to exist in the universe humans use it in hospital scanners deep sea diving party balloons and to give themselves squeaky voices the carbon atom four electrons on the outside so I got to bond with a hydrogen in each of the four cardinal directions I'm already bonding with below I assume there's Collision like if I go this way there's actually an X that comes up I got an achievement it says predicted Collision so I guess I just want to also show it it's going to physically bump that's cool so I'm going to say we connect with the right side and then loop around since we know it can hang off the edge of the board I could connect with the left side get out of the way and then connect with the top actually that is very nice at showing so you may have played the original Soo Bond and I'll talk about that later but for now helium is rare on Earth but abundant elsewhere in the universe some people believe that mining on the moon could be a viable Alternate Source I actually had no idea the moon was expected to have helium at all and now we got three different types so if I go carbon into oxygen before I do that I'm going to do a fun little thing where I actually hit the bottom of this Loop the hell around hit oxygen to the right then there will be a collision so don't do that oh I can't avoid that right now okay this was a bad path well if I get the oxygen I'm getting a collision no matter what so how do I get the oxygen without having a collision but what if I get this this hydrogen first and then loop around then get the other hydrogen so I got a top and bottom boy and then I can get the oxygen and because the oxygen has two electrons on the outside I think that will take up the last two of the carbon so one for hydrogen two for oxygen then one for the other hydrogen not in that order and you can see it's a double bond most chemical elements are formed curious about this is that I can't just touch the first Hydrogen that's a bait cuz then I'll run out of bonds to bond with oxygen so I got to bond with oxygen and then make that bond with hydrogen but I have to connect with the other line through there so I guess I'd come around like this now the hydrogen won't bond with the hydrogen cuz it's run out of atoms to do so not atoms electrons but the oxygen will and actually that shows that very cleanly I guess we'll get to see it in action cool natural rubber doesn't just come from rubber trees Soviet scientists discovered you can extract it from British it's based off of two games made by a different British developer which is a excellent puzzle designer the original Soo bond which I never made videos on and Cosmic Express which I did and I thought that was a great time but right now I got this funky little molecule here which is going to grab onto the H and actually I do just have a successful molecule and here two chemists walk into a bar the first one says aome H2O the second one says aom H2O2 the second one dies the end bacteria can do more than just make a sick metal absorbing species could help clean up metal pollution or recover valuable metals from electronic waste oh yeah aren't there like also microplastic eating bacteria right right please please don't let microplastics become my generation's lead now we got a nitrogen atom so the bait here is to go straight to O2 but that's going to cause a double bond it even shows up as a double bond dude the visual communication on this game is on point cuz right now I just want to take these guys B the other oxygen with the nitrogen I think it is satisfied cuz has like a green ring around it but nitrogen has two electrons left and so is the oxygen so I can make whatever compound this is dude cool by coating a boat hole in Copper you not only protect the wood from destructive shipworms but the boat will go faster because it's free of weeds and other Hangar arounds oh that's a big one two nitrogens four hydrogens so I would suspect that each nitrogen is going to bond with two two hydrogens now I guess that's actually a good way to do it and then of course it'll also bond with the other nitrogen maybe this is just like good enough cuz top one can bond with a left hydrogen and a right hydrogen it's just now I don't have space to win I have to win you have to understand well I could go around like this then back there is a collision that's a problem and I assume if I go hydrogen then nitrogen I have a double bond here and that's going to leave some hydrogen's unhappy what about bonding with the hydrogen below and to the right then I almost come around and bond with the other nitrogen above no even better I bond with it on the left side this could work cuz then I could bond with the other hydrogen above and on the left this is a functioning molecule it is look at this the beautiful assembly of the H2 and4 other way around n2h4 how did the dinosaurs die well sediment from 66 million years ago contains lots of aridium which is rare on Earth but common on asteroid Space Rock French word here we got an oxgen on the outside I assume it's meant to be rescued so I think if I go straight to a nitrogen it's a trap right cuz that nitrogen bonding with an oxygen just completes the molecule do I get uh can can I just ignore it can I just leave you out of the party no he's mad you are included even though you're outside the box so obviously then I have to start by connecting with the oxygen but again this is going to be about pathf finding so how do I ever attach with the nitrogen cuz I have to grab it from the right or bottom and that doesn't work with what I've just done so what if I come around this way oxygen on top and then double back immediately go grab the nitrogen on the left side I don't like it on the left side side cuz then I can't grab the other oxygen oh no what if then I did this oh nitrogen on top that way our fun little molecule can come over to the oxygen there and fully Bond wow that was uh actually really interesting pathfinding puzzle Mars gets his reddish brown color from the iron oxide molecules on its surface you don't have to go to space to see iron oxide though it's rust now it's time for the blue level hydrogen plus oh it's in need of an electron so how does this work I go and pick up the electron I can't go through it but I did pick it up here so then I would loop back around connect with the other hydrogen and then go I think they had anything like this in the original soab bond an ion is just an electrically charged atom atoms become charged when they lose or gain electrons positive ions have lost some electrons and negative ions have gained some so again a Hy hen that needs an electron and I got to bond with oxygen I think first so I can go past so I can go past hydrogen without bonding with it but I will get pick up the electron then I could grab oxygen down here let oxygen be low cuz that can grab the other hydrogen then into here I was thinking for a second I would be trapping hydrogen but I'm not cuz oxyen can grab it electrons orbit the nucleus of an atom in layers atoms are most able when their outermost orbit is full which is why so many atoms are Keen to lose gain or share electrons that's quite relatable as I am also most stable when full oxygen needs two electrons but I bet I don't need to grab both of them at once but I could and what would be wrong with that um possibly a lot of things actually actually this is a very specific path finding Intrigue see what this level wants me to do or I would love to be able to do is like do this grab both hydrogens I've made H2O but I can't get to the exit but also if I come around this way I'm going to have a collision and if I go this way I'll either have a collision or get stuck again so maybe I'm supposed to come past these at first maybe even come through the center like this would instantly bond with the first hydrogen and then I could grab it here and then bond with the second hydrogen to come around this way oh that is a nasty pathf finding puzzle but very well made also I love how it the path fills up as you go over it positively charged ions are called cat ions and negatively charged ions are an ions not to be confused with onions no literally remember that onions which sound like anion anions make people cry and that's negative so remember cats are positive onions are negative but does that mean a cat and onion would go well together hm H still no negatively charged ions yet but when do I pick up my electrons like I could just go pick pick and then double bond right away and then single Bond single Bond I mean that seems to just be a solution it was the first thing I thought of so is it actually fine enzymes in saliva break down Foods release flavor molecules which are then detected by your taste buds a dry mouth will make food far less tasty that's a lot of oxygen so this is interesting because it starts as a cat ion that allows me to avoid making O2 like I can just connect with a single Bond and then do another single Bond Bring It Around Town do another single Bond well hold on what if I do this cuz we do got to bond them all I'm sure so I'm I'm going to make 04 so I imagine the idea is the the final two oxygen are in place to be bonded but only bind after I grab that last electron and that all comes together that's cool 03 o4 and 04 more about saliva it helps to dissolve food but pineapple bites back they contain Broman which breaks down protective mucus in our mouths raw skin plus acidic fruit equals pineapple tingle that's why to save your mouth you're supposed to grill the pineapple then put it on Pizza this one seems pretty simple right got nitrogen that double bombs with oxygen then single bombs with hydrogen where's the challenge is there a Twist or something or does it just work what excuse me are you not allowed to end on the outside I could bond like this is that I that has to be accepted right just a pathfinding puzzle despite not knowing why it worked ancient civilizations notic the disinfected power of copper and used it to sterilize wounds and treat drinking water well the carbon's back well so the first thing is to bond with the carbon we will get along nicely what if I attach here what if at any point the hydrogen goes out of bounds is that a big deal I don't know well it's going to end out of bounds so oh that means that's kind of funny then that means the first Bond I have to make is on this side of the carbon but that's the only thing that matters it's fine if it goes out of Bounds at a you know throughout its Journey it's just got to end in bounds has that actually been the case the entire time and I just hadn't noticed because the levels were set up so well scientists are genetically modifying cotton to try and produce colored fibers without the need for dye no dyes would mean no need to separate laundry you're supposed to separate laundry just use cold water or at least like keep the lights and darks away wait no no okay so again I can't get a double oxygen Bond and I probably have to be aware of how it solved I can't really have anything to the right of the oxygen well I guess I can have it directly to the right but not up and to the right or two to the right so why don't I just do down and then one that's above here I could even grab it on the left and then try to do something kind of funky oh awkward uh there's always going to be Collision here actually yeah there's like always going to be Collision so let me change up The Path finding a little bit here I've got an oxygen to the left of the main one then then I could go above and that seems to be okay cuz here at least I can grab the hydrogen and then come back down and it seems that all ends in bounds and doesn't have anything wrong that I don't know about sunscreens can be physical or chemical chemical sunscreen absorb absorbs UV radiation turning it into heat that can then be released from the skin the holes are in the middle all that matters is that I don't have anything to the direct right of the hydrogen nor to above one above is okay but a little nerve-wracking not going to lie I actually might be better off going left than left again well then I'm never bonding with the other oxygen so let's hold off on that I go down then what I would like do a crazy weird loop around here where I come and grab the other oxygen like this ah but then there's a collision it's very sad and there's always a collision in another way so that's not the start I got to use this loop around back somehow otherwise it wouldn't be here right maybe that's not true all right what about one above then to the right to the right again then Bond like that that could work and then this wrap around was a bait okay I got too focused on that wrap around the bottom when this works too you know that distinctive just rain smell is called Petra cor and is caused when a molecule called geosman is pushed out of the soil and into the air by raindrops are they bullshitting me raindrops you really expect me to think that's a word that's a weird looking puzzle everybody's outside so nothing can end up to the right or bottom of my starting hydrogen and here's something interesting this is a choke point learn this from Island of insight unless if there's some Voodoo I'm pretty sure I have to start off with the oxygen and then connect with either a nitrogen or O oxygen and unfortunately I cannot make this Bond because that's also below the hydrogen it doesn't even matter if it's directly to the right or below it's just right or below at all is bad well how do I get the upper right hydrogen or the bottom left hydrogen okay that's kind of messed up actually yeah cuz as soon as I have the nitrogen up here there's no way I'm ever getting that bottom one again I wonder if I'm actually not meant to grab this oxygen in the beginning I ignore the choke point but I could instead grab the oxygen from afar wait there's one other way to grab the hydrogen actually even if it is working with on top I would just need something to left of the nitrogen that can extend over this Gap but what I would have to do first is grab the hydrogen okay and that's important so that I don't fully bond with the oxygen but the oxygen can overhang here and I got the 3x2 oh yes very clever got to reach out and Touch Faith the taste of coriander is influenced by your genetics if you have a receptor Gene that lets you detect chemicals called Al hides eating coriander is like chewing a bar of soap yeah but can coriander also be lavender flavored I don't think so and well there's a lot of we've got a lot of restrictions nothing directly to the right of the oxygen nor right and up nor two up nor two down nor three left but I would be shocked if that matters uh so obviously I have to start by bonding with nitrogen I could try bonding Above This can't just be a single chain we're going to need to have some sort of box gimmick what does the overall molecule look like cuz there's two ways I could do this right with one electron left on the nitrogen I could bond with the other nitrogen and that would have two electrons left and that would fully bond with the oxygen meaning the other oxygen is just left out of the party or I could go from nitrogen to oxygen which actually would leave one electron left then I could bomb with nitrogen then I could bomb with oxygen never mind the problem solves itself so going to oxygen means doing something like like this but again I have to be very careful here something feels wrong about this this path I can't put my finger on it I feel like I have to use this space and that way I can actually pathfind like this just right from the get-go it feels better this way and that way I can grab the nitrogen and then can I grab the oxygen surely yes if I just come around the long way I eventually grab the oxygen and all will be good this is legal yeah I'm like I'm not using my space efficiently here I was drawing a dead end and now it's like an oh no it's literally the no molecule oh no no if we're sleepy we often reach for the coffee that's because it contains caffeine which binds the nerve cells in the brain leaving no room for sleep inducing chemicals yeah but if your sleep inducing chemicals got hands then they can just beat the out of the caffeine and make you go to sleep anyway well this game is charming if you guys enjoyed watching
