what's up everybody Renfield here back again with some more Rogue Trader and today we're answering another question that came up during one of the recent videos which was is there a best class for new players to start and yes and no I mean that's kind of largely depend on your background with crpgs and whether or not you know anything about the Warhammer Universe um as someone who has a ton of experience with crpgs but having never played Warhammer until I started Rogue Trader I think I have a unique perspective on what new players might be looking at for this game so I'm going to approach it from that angle and and and we can discuss it at length throughout the course of this video so uh if you have played other crpgs some aspects of this are going to be familiar but they use different terminology here and there's basically Arch types which break down into uh sub classes later on and and there's some complexities involved it's more advanced but the basic thing you need to know for starting characters if you're starting a new character from scratch is there are four types of arch types or classes that you can choose from which is the fighter the leader the Adept and the Marksman I've got one of each of those in this party here that I've been playing with and I'm going to break down each one of those for you and talk about which one I think is going to be the best for new players coming into warmer 40K Rogue Trader for the first time if this is your first time tuning into one of my videos don't forget to like subscribe and hit the Bell icon so you never miss an update we multi stream every single day at 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. central Time and we play a lot of different games together including World of Warcraft but there's a lot of crpgs RPGs shooter games sports games I play a little bit of everything it's a variety Channel and of course we do movie reviews and tabletop stuff as well so that's the Genesis of everything about me and my channel you'll find all the links below and without further Ado let's get into the guide itself there are two classes in particular I think are best suited to new players I want to talk about these two right out of the gate and give you the reasons why I think this is the case so the Marksman is a ranged character it is probably the easiest character to play in this game because you're doing everything from a distance and the only thing you really need to know before you start playing this game is that in this this particular crpg melee enemies that get within range of you will block you from using your ranged weapons so your objective is to stay back stay way the hell back and just shoot things that move that's literally the core of the Marksman now you can obviously get into the weeds here as you go through how do you spec your Marksman what talents do you take what abilities do you take and I've done some build guides for this character to talk a little bit about why I made the decisions I made as I make my way around the wheel um but the core of the Marksman is just stay at a distance and pew pew pew and you can do little things that will enhance your pew pew ability um enhance your movement rate and so on and so forth um and you can have like high tech use if you want if you want this character to be like opening locks and stuff there's a lot of things you can do in terms of what your character is beyond just a marksman but it is the easiest of the classes to play from what I have found because all you're doing is point and shoot now the fighter such as abelard is if you want something that's a little more Hands-On this would be the next best choice in my mind is the fighter because the fighters have survivability and can wear the best armor and they get toughness and all these other Feats and and abilities like like uh I think it's this one endure no that's sworn enemy somewhere along in here I've got one there it is endure um it's there are lots of things you can do with the fighter especially if you have them equipped like I do with him where he's got um in one hand he's got a sword in the other hand he's got a Deadshot stub revolver so he can do melee or range depending on the situations um but he's primarily a Melee character so when you're going into the combat scenarios um generally your fighter is going to be upfront at the front of everything taking all the damage using things like uh taunting scream and Gathering all the attention on them um The Fighter is all about being up there and sort of controlling not necessarily the flow of battle but controlling the where the enemy is focusing their attention that's generally what the rule of the fighter is while the ranger or the Marksman in this case and the adeps and the leaders stand back from a distance and just either Focus fire or pick off stragglers or whatever they want um the fighter is more Hands-On but it has survivability which makes it I would argue it's it's a little more complicated than the Marksman to play but once you've leveled up I I was saying this the other day in one of the streams I feel like the time you get to around level 6 to8 I think by level eight all of the characters in this game feel pretty powerful and the fighter in particular with uh once you get access to it is always there for you where's it at here not the desperate measure but the heroic act daring breach um fighter immediately restores all of their AP and MP and gains additional movement until end of turn and doesn't lose movement points after performing attacks so normally you move you have movement points you can move up to a maximum points for for your character then you do your attack and then you're done but during breach once you've gained enough momentum to use it allows you to move attack move attack move attack all again no limit on melee weapon attacks during this turn um it's extremely nice when you have say four or five enemies in sort of a central area that you can run around and just decimate you know uh in a single turn uh so the fighter can be really potent like it's not as easy to play as the marks because there are some situational things you have to be be aware of like if you're being overrun by too many enemies you know bracing for impact and doing things like endure um also knowing when to use taunting scream because it might get you killed if you're not careful but there are other times when you need to use it um so I think the fighter is really good it's fairly easy to play and second best to The Marksman of my mind for something that new players would like to try out out now I will go ahead and mention the leader and the adup I've talked about these in other videos a little bit more in Greater detail but quick commercial break everyone to celebrate and give thanks to all these amazing people who keep me on the air full time really appreciate the support all you got to do is join as a member you get access to private videos you can also do super thanks on any upload or super chats stickers on any live stream or Premiere you see and beyond that don't forget we're multi streaming over on Twitch now so you can support over there as well thanks so much to everybody let's get back to the video at hand adeps are essentially your psychers you know but they the adeps are space Wizards that's the easiest way to think of them and there's the ones who focus on magical side of things and the ones who focus on the biomancy side of things this is way more complex than point and shoot it's situational depending on you know do I need to be studying enemies and stacking clue on them and which ones do I want to remove clue off of and which which ones do I want to keep the clue on and expose the weakness over here and psychic shout over here and do I use my lightning ability with my staff because it's Friendly Fire and I don't want to hit my my my colleagues the Adept is way more complicated than the Marksman or the ranger or Marksman Marksman or The Fighter um I don't if you're a new player coming into this just go into it knowing that the Adept is a far more advanced class to play compared to the Marksman or the fighter and finally the leader which we've talked about in another video um the leader does nothing during combat they don't actually have their own they have a melee attack you know you could give them a ranged weapon to do a ranged attack but they don't have any abilities right that are really focused on attack instead it's all about like controlling one of your party members like I'm going to take take them over um and give them it's your time give an ally a turn with full AP and MP um or just do the bring it down version where the target Ally gets a bonus turn with no movement points and action points you know and all these things Notch of purpose voice of command these are all things where you're targeting one of your party members and either buffing them or giving them an extra round of attacks to do something with during your turn um so it's not really a class where it's about you it's about the rest of the people in your party and with five other members in your party it means that it's the most advanced of classes to play because it's so situational and you're like the general who's controlling what your troops do and so always controlling the other uh party members is what the leader is all about which is why I put it at the very last of the list cuz this is in my mind this is not one of the base classes that new players are going to be looking towards like I said the easiest play is absolutely out of the gate The Marksman um and then after the Marksman is the fighter uh between these two The Marksman and Fighters the easiest two to play in the game with my vote going towards the Marksman because of all the reasons we talked about obviously if you dive into this and and you find that the the Adept is easier for you that could happen but um for most people coming in for the first time especially if they've never played Warhammer or if they're new to crpgs either one would be a new player in my mind stick to the easy things pew pew pew or just chew through things with a sword either way uh it's a great way to explore uh Rogue Trader which is an awesome game from Alat games if you haven't played their uh Pathfinder titles you totally should go pick them up in the meantime we got launched just around the corner for this game can't wait daily streams 5:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. this is the main game we're playing for the month of December 2023 so hopefully we'll see you there we'll be doing lots of guides around it multi streaming on YouTube and twitch but YouTube is obviously where all the guides are hosted where my primary content creation happens you can also join our Discord hopefully we'll see you in the next one until then stay safe and happy gaming
