[Music] tv10 and wrnr proud to bring you this episode of law enforcement live recorded august 22nd 2020 in the eastern panhandle of west virginia thank you to the berkeley county sheriff curtis keller for allowing us to give you this look into a day in the life of a law enforcement officer this episode will feature two domestic situations a business alarm and a public disturbance law enforcement live is filmed live with the men and women of law enforcement all participants in tonight's show are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law viewer discretion is advised i'm a deputy chronister i've been with burke county sheriff's office for five years i was a school resource officer for two years i head to school and then at musclemen this is mostly recently here airport i'm now back out on the road due to uh covet and whatnot yeah i mean it's that's a requirement for sure i wouldn't say it's my favorite part i mean it's it's nice to you know make a rest i i like doing dui's i feel like it's uh it definitely has an impact on on my community you know that's why i decided to start doing this and feel like you know if i can get a drunk driver off the road saving a family you know kids or even people walking down the street you know it makes me feel like that's that's an actual measurable difference i'm making where i'm where i'm actually working which is which is nice i also like working uh in the schools it's uh it's nice to deal with with younger people who still have their whole lives ahead of them you know try to offer them them some guidance and instruction help them out it's completely different from what we're what we're doing currently it's a different completely different type of policing but it's nice i did like that as well how does that work when you work with the schools and the kids um so schedule's super nice it's uh monday through friday um day shift so you're pretty much there anytime that administration or where the children are and um you go there you're responsible for keeping the school safe um and then of course you know if there's any type of criminal violation in the actual school throughout the school day or sometimes even after hours some of that stuff will get brought back into school um if there's any type of like gun violent threats like that towards the school or any of the uh like feeder schools which are like elementary middle school stuff like that you're responsible for dealing with all that making sure all the administration is informed communicating with everybody making sure that all the kids stay safe and then you know if kids kids get in any trouble you're there to deal with the criminal element of it and try to work with them so that way hopefully they they learn why they're still in school while they're still juveniles to uh make better life choices before they turn 18 and really ruin their lives which is which is nice to have that opportunity but you know sometimes things happen and there's not much you can do you know kids just because you're doom now you're still held accountable so yeah so it's kind of like the same as like being on patrol but you get assigned to a particular school is that how right um pretty much yeah so like last year i was at muscleman so i dealt with musclemen and then all of the south berkeley the theater schools so if any if any of the schools had a call then then i was responsible for it but your your main responsibility is 29th um you know you have you have an office um you walk around between class periods stuff like that you know you can check perimeter doors everything like that um make sure everybody's being safe just have control around the actual school especially during lunches and busy times like that just make sure everybody's being safe yeah you report directly to school every day then uh make sure all your people caught up and head home every day it's just a smaller area of patrolling i would say thinking stuff like that uh to work with whatever whether is that something that all of the officers get a chance to do gonna be threatening to kill her she'd like someone to check on her so we don't get sent to any any special type of training to be an sro stands for school resource officer um it's it's kind of just past like when when i did my first year last year um i linked up with the current esros there and kind of you know learned from them and learned all all the different codes and stuff that deal with the juveniles and the school process and stuff like that um but to actually get to position normally it's volunteer to volunteer position you know if the stock comes open you know they they'll they'll put out uh memo asking you know who who wants to go to the schools um if not then someone will get bomb told to do it for at least a year and then it'll rotate out that way so um usually usually there's position if you really want to do something if you really want to be an sro um you normally won't have to wait too long to when the slots open up to get your opportunity to but but most of most of the units you know want to work the road so sometimes it's actually pretty hard to find find people who want to go into the school slots i liked it though i i enjoyed it was definitely a uh a completely different experience i felt like i learned a lot a lot from it how y'all doing you all involved in any of this are you all just neighbors okay what's going on um the uh the lady homeowner uh attacked my bike um the lady that owns this place here yeah okay it's like your wife she's attacked my wife where are you i live here we live downstairs um if you like come in i was just trying to really call and find somewhere because they haven't they just served that po on my life i'm just trying to find a place for us to go that's that's fine if you want to keep doing that man i don't want to i don't want to interrupt you um i'm just trying to figure out what's what's going on um yeah it was it's an unfortunate situation really is what it is okay we had to move out of our house abruptly because uh the police was dominated and you know we relied on them as as we thought they were friends people owned this place yeah i coached their their two sons and youth wrestling for i don't know three four years okay and um my wife and and and and laura the lady who owns the house are really good friends and they got very very well planted um they let us move in you know i've done a ton of work here to try and get the place livable for us downstairs and then uh and all of a sudden they're just they kind of they kind of flip the switch on us and we don't really know why uh the officer the state trooper today he was here he said that you know the only uh working bathroom that they have for showers upstairs on the third floor um we were just trying to get our stuff and clear out of there you know and uh i i my wife was being cornered by the husband and the wife laura and anthony upstairs almost on the third floor and um it was over toilet paper that they came in and stole so my little three-year-old all right i got you we'll keep making phone calls see if you can find yourself transportation okay so um essentially what that was um from what i gathered in a short time there uh there's two separate families living there one family appears to be done with the other family um they got the courts involved an fpa was involved and then today before a paperwork is served or some type of minor physical application between a couple of the residents there but there's two guys there we've got it under control so we're going to head to a threats ball between a male and a female we can find a door way up here yeah all right i'll get you man you got a door or something sheriff's office well i'm looking for whoever lives here man all right you wanna come out and talk to me okay [Music] foreign so so hey man how you doing good how are you doing doing all right man uh what's what's the numbers here at this house as far as i'm concerned as far as i know i've been here since june 7th okay as far as i'm there it's five five three okay now you got a female roommate here i do not belong i do not want their number i'm secure for now i'm still trying to find this fema i mean i don't say i don't know i don't take a breath brother calm down i don't know any females who lives in this house the red house i'm at a house behind this red house i'm trying to figure out i couldn't find a door for the numerical providers is there a girl that stays there yes all right how do how do i get to that house where is the door to that house we gotta get all the setup going on yeah i see that this yeah gates right there are the gate right here behind the shed on the feb there's a gate once last time you seen them you gotta reach over are they okay well that's what i'm here trying to figure out i don't know yet thank you yeah i just started writing i'm nervous almost and that's kind of why i'm writing no problem yeah brought down the plate for craigslist no honestly i didn't know this wasn't their number we cleared for western point so there you go all right i'm gonna go try and find them thank you thank you brother thank you sir good luck guys didn't work you gotta take something wrong with it i don't know man calm down for a second i'll come back drugs it's your girlfriend but we just had to come up here and talk to you guys figure it out and make sure nothing nothing's too bad did you guys argue or anything like that somewhere why would we argue you guys already know when's the last time you guys argued today and i couldn't even i couldn't even call i got you you don't have to train yourself for me okay i got you so what we're going to you have a valid driver's license absolutely it's a street legal vehicle i think that inspection stickers did are the tags good yes tags come back to that vehicle absolutely you know where your keys i'm getting tore up by mosquitoes i know make this happen there's a lot of no you don't think so no okay well just to be safe i'm gonna breathalyze you let's go and get yourself okay obviously make sure you're good to go let's go get yourself oh goodness okay i don't know i know you said don't talk to them correct make this happen [Music] all right get a garbage bags everything in the bag all right i'll just get rid we gotta make this quick i know i know i know i don't know i'll do it the best i can do you're good man we're not gonna do anything like that i wish my wife there's probably two months ago i know i just got to get out of here can i take the cigarettes too yeah yep all right we gotta get moving i know i know i don't know oh yeah and i gotta get and save and get my credit coming to the gulf of mexico it'll quickly ramp up you could even be by tomorrow night be a hurricane but foreign there's a little boy you don't know if you hit it or exhausted how i'm just sitting down here watching tv um don't think i need anything else yes um what the hell with all that [Music] oh throw that in here my phone and car chargers in here and so so right now we have everything you one yeah so like above and beyond no this does that mean it's too high to even can you grab your corner i wouldn't imagine so there's gotta be some air with that that's the one that's like the tags going keep going stop yeah we got a lot of bugs out there yep okay so no okay um so you can't drive okay or you're not even clothes are you a little point three three four okay all right which is like triple legal limit well i told you i've been drinking yeah no i didn't tell you you're fine i'm not trying to get in trouble for that so so right now what we can do is i can give you a ride okay all right do you want a ride to the woman shelter or a hotel well i'm gonna have to have a ride in a motel somewhere i just don't know how they on my way in my car what's that hey i'm not these mosquitoes oh i know they are all right um i just don't know how i'm gonna get back up here and get my car where's your family at they're in florida florida yeah well i have no family up here that's who called you i know are they coming up to get you no i'm gonna be uh doing a getting a reservation tomorrow okay tough so then lie down there okay so then what you can do is sew if you have your keys stay tonight rest clear your mind sober up tomorrow all right cold taxi have you give a ride up here all right i'll give you a ride up here you get your car then you can go to whatever airport whatever you got to do after that all right yeah okay is that weird yeah i usually that'll work out fine you can call a taxi you'll come up here you get your car you can take all this you can take all the stuff in the taxi with you okay so that way from the tax drop shop you can throw all of this in your car and you can go right back this is going to be here tomorrow with him being here you have the keys oh i have the keys but he's got a key okay he has a key to the pt cruiser here's the key to the tractor and both of these cars are in my league okay so i'm not quite sure what i'm supposed to do here okay well i mean there's really not a whole lot you can do it okay because you can't drive all right if the vehicle is not here oh i wouldn't i wouldn't i wouldn't want to drive if you come back tomorrow and if it was not here then that might be a situation you have to deal with when you go to court for all of this do you understand what i'm saying so if you take your car or something like that then you can report it stolen you can deal with all that while when you're safe you understand what i'm saying yeah okay just grab your stuff i'm gonna load it in my car oh you've got to go back and get the rest of my cigarettes though please no no no man that's all right okay i got it yep all right we'll figure out uh some place to get a hotel room near the i don't know we'll figure it out you need to see my id yes i was actually just coming back i was going to say you asked me for it earlier but yep okay here's that all right go ahead grab a seat on your seatbelt something yeah jesus i couldn't tell you i think sorry thanks for coming out yeah i would probably get that checked back because that's not that's no bueno yeah no i'll turn in burns yeah we're talking about pbt yeah yeah but he's just as intoxicated as she is if you get worse yeah i would say worse yeah i would agree i would agree with that you good yep sketchy back here i did our part to uh nourish the mosquitoes oh my goodness you are correct got lit up by those things right [Music] as you saw that was it was a domestic situation an ongoing domestic situation um there wasn't any current criminal violation so there wasn't anything i could arrest him or her on she advised that she wanted to leave so as you saw we got her belongings um she wanted to drive but she wasn't in a safe condition to do so that's why we gave her she'll be safe here tonight she's been given our contact information if she needs anything else from us um so she'll be safe here tonight she'll go to the courthouse tomorrow hopefully it's going to be a file for protection order against him so that way if there's any information we'll have a foot to stand on through the actual ports that gives us a little bit more leeway um like no contact orders that way if he violates that actually gives us a little bit to work with to help keep her safe because as it stands right now this is pretty much all i can do is take her from there because there's no there's no criminal offense but with that with the fbo paperwork that gives us a little bit more to work with um to help out in in domestic situations and and keep keep the victims of domestic violence a little bit safer i'm 28 129 i'm not seeing anything she's safe and we're good to go we're available again [Music] okay today [Music] hey um so so [Music] [Music] [Music] no all right all right so this is probably he pulled up we out chilling at that lady in the oil and she too drunk to talk to you okay right all right he pulled up at her house where we was gathering and what are in a honda they did they left me there's two females okay they got theirs we've been left right all right then he wanted proceeded to fight us keep on watching i'm not no [ __ ] because you pulled up i'm still with it yeah you feel me yeah i got you but yo [ __ ] him yo okay i'm gonna get you bro i'm gonna get you bro watch yourself on the threats all right while i'm here all right why is he here he pulled up for no reason no no no no i'll make my knees he has a car okay okay before before we get in all that all right was there was there anybody else here they said something about it yeah they did they did he had a stick he came here with this shirt sir i was looking i'm trying i'm talking to you only okay see i'll talk to you i'm sure i'm not talking to you all right that's what's up all right he has a car that's in my name yeah okay i asked him to bring me the key to that car yeah he told me no he's not bringing me the keys and he's coming up to this house to fight everybody that's there this guy yes okay he pulls up at the end of the driveway with the stick and two other females now the two other females got their ass beat and they left him they left him i need one so it is what it is i just want to keep to my card that's how all this came out the person that always wants to settle everything by fighting i don't i'm not a fighter i'm from pj county i don't if you step to me i'm gonna fight you yeah that's how it goes okay all i wanted to keep watching though together right okay me and him use the date i took out a he didn't come with the keys he came with two other females in a stick okay so is is it is it no they did doing this is the key for the cars is that car here still not here so that's the car they were driving no the car isn't oh and the car is not you have the keys on him or not he says he doesn't have it okay i just want my keys to my car all right that's all i want i'm worried about people leaving behind brother oh sorry you're good detained uh this guy they they were verbally into it um i separated them he's he's calming down now he's in the back of my car apparently all of this is over a vehicle that's parking right now [Music] [Music] so so i rolled up this guy was walking away from this guy i don't know if they had already fought or about to fight or whatever um so i grabbed him detained him because they were about to fight or whatever that's all i got before that's all i know he's not under arrest or anything i just because there was like all these people out here you know what i mean um so i don't have him on anything i just wanted to secure him because i know he was involved with that yeah no i saw no bat i asked him about the bat they said that it was a stick he's dumb ass people are back if you're a passenger if he said he brings forth he's saying he got four more you feel me you need my name john francis curl the third that's my name you ain't got y'all johnny man yeah guys that's my name john curl thank you try dude it makes it easier for me oh because i got a number on it all i got to do is read off the number bro it makes it easier for me because it's a printout you weren't just somebody you weren't very popular with me that one day at least he wanted to fight him that's all he already in the house okay after we defuse the situation he wanted to fight he won the fight and then he put down a stick and i said go get the stick my first mind he put that on stick go get the stick he can't have him huh do we do that so he can't get it no more because i was going to use my smile all right where did all this happen at it all happened on hot on her property that's all the way down that's all the way down we'll make it left make it right all right so y'all walked off yeah we walked all the way up and didn't walk his ass off the property all right um is like i told him i tried to defeat this situation for this man right i got his number right i called him he answered he's like this fat john i'm like yes yo i said what is the problem he said they having beef right i said okay we vote man both from baltimore city we know how to be great you feel me get nasty but this really really it's just like calling me if you if if this officer right sworn in told me not to do something and i go do it who who dumbest in that mild dumbness right right i posted listen right no not that cat not that kid he ready to go to jail he know your paper watch man [Music] i know once y'all i know you're involved he still got it we're gonna leave um there if it was in the city he came here just to start a bunch correct ruckus so yeah he would just go but do you want us to go check out blue sedan i mean i i've got nothing i didn't care of anything i'm i'm going to cut him loose if his if where's he live i don't know apparently his wife is forced to go well yeah the girl the carlo the girl is left his ride his ride is probably gonna be that blue one down the end of the block that's it you got john's id yeah he's looking for it yeah blue that blue sedan down there okay wow that's how i water nah man i'm sorry i should open my this is really gonna be on something yeah tv 10. be on uh comcast channel 10 and uh it's on youtube wr and our tv w rnr wr and rtv and we we'll come on there uh it'll be on sometime this week probably so live beauty is real like this is what you do for real for real yeah i was actually talking to him felicia or luciano over there yeah he's pretty cool i mean i've got nothing all right oh just hang out here we're going to wait for your ride all right all right this is his ride i love how there is like a case of natural light two times we dealt with that kid on center street when his girlfriend basically killed him is that right was that her was that his girlfriend at the time yeah she was she was she had a nice ass car she had two knife on the show car came out fight with a uh bat we were in the area so we decided to uh go ahead and help out city as you saw we rolled up and there were supposed to learn if i caught out there as well don't kill you arguing with each other being the only one on scene and went ahead and grabbed one guy and uh interviewed the rest and then when everyone else got there being able to get everybody separated talk to everybody and figure out what was going on and everybody went their separate ways so nobody got hurt it's another another one
