Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
This and Pneuma are the top 2 so far on first listen.
The whole album is remarkable though.
What a great day to be alive...WE MADE IT!
Does anyone else think the first couple minutes of this song sounds like it could have come off Undertow? Obviously, as it develops, Adam shreds like he really never has before, but the opening riff sounds pretty old school.
Edit: Sorry, I meant the heavy riff that comes in at the 1:20 mark. I only listened to it once at a record store before commenting.
Just based off of one listen to the album, I think this might be one of my favorite Tool songs. I need to give it more listens and some time for the initial new album hype to wear off, but I really do think this is some of the best music the band has put together.
Adam Jones is just going wild on this. That riff around the 8:30 mark is so sick.
That was insane. 15 min felt like 5...
Gentlemen, this is a masterpiece. Itβs like a journey through every era of Tool music while being totally new and original. This song alone was worth waiting 13 years for.
I am enjoying the album. But does anyone find it annoying that they're STILL recycling the same riffs? It doesn't make sense. People were literally criticizing Tool for recycling this riff when 10k days came out. It'd be so easy to change it up a bit so it's not the literal exact same notes.
The craziest part is that this riff shows up in multiple songs on this album. If you don't know the one I'm talking about you can hear it at the very end of Vicarious.
Best song on the album immediately. I'm 3 minutes in and it's totally Aenima-era Tool, and that's my favorite album by them.
God damn this made the whole thing worth it. The album meanders a bit, but I liked the title track + the live songs. But this song? Jesus man, incredible stuff.
This song is certainly in my top 3 tool songs
The only thing I kind of miss in this album is a lead bass song, like schism, 46 & two or sober
