god because there is no one else like you you are the unstoppable god you are the ever-changing god you are the loving god you are the caring god and we acknowledge who you are you are this morning as we worship you we adore you god for all the things that you have done we are filled with all every day when we see the beauty of the earth when we experience the nature that is out there in our world we thank you god for thinking of us and for giving us the chance to be a part of this beautiful world that you have created this morning lord so many persons have lost their lives they are not here today lord to experience the beauty of your nature so this morning we are thankful and we find it a blessing to be a part of your world lord we thank you that you continue to heal us of our diseases we thank you god as you continue to renew your love with us every morning we thank you god because you're slow to anger lord when we have forgive when we have done things that are not pleasing unto you lord we thank you for who you are and we give you all the praise and we give you all the glory that's due unto you father this morning as we worship you we ask that you forgive us of all our sins forgive us for the time is lord when we continue when we ignore you when you continue to speak to us when you continue to instruct us we just take things in our own hands and do the things that pleases us lord god we ask you to forgive us for the times lord when we do not allow you to control our thoughts lord god we continue to do things on our own lord god we ask you to forgive us for the times we continue we refuse to communicate with you on a daily basis we do not read your word as often as we should and lord we should be missionaries for you and lord we forget to share your word with others lord jesus we ask you to forgive us of all our things sins lord sometimes lord the tongue lord it brings this grace to you the same tongue that we use to worship you it brings this grace to others lord we come and ask you for your forgiveness lord remove all our sins from us as far as the east is from the west so as we worship you this morning we'll worship you with our whole heart we'll worship you with our body souls and mind so lord as we offer our worship this morning accept our worship and accept our praise as we offer them to you this morning we are few in number in your house but we are here to worship you and to give you all the praise and all the glory that's due unto you so lord we ask you to hear the prayers of our hearts as we offer them to you know those of us here in the chapel and those who are who are online worshiping you just the same hear the prayers of our hearts as we offer them to you know in no other name of the name of jesus christ our lord and where is your god these things i remember as i pour out my soul how i used to go with the multitude leading the procession to the house of god with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throne why are you downcast o my soul why so disturbed within me put your hope in god for i really praise him my savior and my god my soul is downcast within me therefore i will remember you from the morning which means we should be singing and shouting for joy wherever we are it is a beautiful day and we are going to go for it and tell persons about the lord we're going to say you know just stop for a minute and let me tell you what god has done for me and you know whoever is beside you at this point in time i'm going to give you a little time just turn them and say this is what god has done for me he woke me up this morning he put me to sleep last night i'm alive today and i am indeed blessed and that is what god has done for me so wherever you are stand with us as we go to god in praise the things that will lead you astray so that you can focus on god so that he can refine you with the refineries fire yes the pressure is going to be there but the pressure is there to build you up so that you can do his will so refined as fire my heart's one desire is to be holy set apart to do his will if your heart's desire is not to set yourself apart to do his will then what could it possibly be ask god to separate you so that you can do his will in this mission not only in this month but throughout the rest of your life ask him to purify your heart because we all know that there are times when our hearts are not pure do well on things that we should not do alone we start bad mind people we get jealous there are so many things that happen and we become so sinful so we need to be purified every single day refine us fire refine [Music] is to be [Music] [Music] for you my master [Music] ready to do your will ready to do your will ready to do your [Music] ready to do your way amen we continue in that powerful atmosphere as we invite reverend chernake to come with us with the intercessory prayer let us pray god our creator we come to you this morning with grateful hearts we come to you this morning knowing that you are our god we come to you this morning confident that whatever we say to you lord you hear us and you are ready to answer our prayers lord we join with islamists in seeing that we look to the hills from whence cometh our help our help comes from you and so god we even know bring our cares and our concerns to you lord our concerns are so many those things that cause us pain and sorrow lord you know about it but you you invite us lord to come to you and to speak with you to commune with you to share with you the concerns on our hearts and so god we come to you even though knowing that whatever we say to you you are ready and willing to hear us and to offer comfort to us god we live in a world where this pandemic has taken over our lives seemingly so but we know oh god that in all things you are in our midst but there are challenges nonetheless lord that seek to confound us but lord even though we seek your help in navigating our way through this disaster upon us but we pray even now for our children or students who have started out a new school year lord the challenges are many and they have had to adapt to a new way of learning and continue to adopt teachers parents those who are in charge of the education system god as they navigate their way through we ask for your wisdom we ask for your inspiration and your guidance and we ask god that you will help the students to learn even though the environment is not the most conducive to learning we ask that you would help them and even though lord the challenges are there we thank you lord that you have provided a way even in the midst of the situation we thank you for the technology that is available to the students to all of us lord so that we can make do with the situation the place before you even know persons who are who are mourning mourning the loss of loved ones and persons who even know are battling with this disease and other illnesses we ask god that you will be their healer that you will comfort those who mourn that you will strengthen the faint of heart that you would encourage all of us in the midst of this disastrous situation we pray oh god even know that we are in this hurricane season and there are many who have had who have been relocated because of this hurricane that has the storms that have taken place lord we go through physical storms and we go through spiritual storms but we know that in all of this nothing is too hard for you to do and so we ask god that you will just help us your people help us to navigate our way through these circumstances god we ask even though that for those persons who are struggling to keep things together struggling financially struggling in their relationships lord we ask god that you would just be their provider that you lord will be their healer that you will be the guide of all of us lord there are so many difficult situations but we know that we have access to you and that we know god that you will take care of your people you said in your word that we should cast all our cares upon you because you care for us and so compassionate god whatever the challenges are that your people meet even know we ask god that you will hear our prayers and you will answer us and even as we wait upon your answer we ask that you would grant us patience so that lord as we wait we will not wait with anxious hearts and minds but will with confidence knowing that you will indeed make a way out for us and so hear us know oh god and answer the prayers of the hearts of your people now we pray through christ our lord amen thank you rev for offering that special word of prayer for us now it's time for welcome recognition and notices so on behalf of the pastor officers and members of the mouth and in your heart that is the message concerning faith that we proclaim if you declare with your mouth jesus is lord and believe in your heart that god raised him from the dead you will be saved for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved as scripture says anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame for there is no difference between jew and gentile the same lord is lord of all the richly blessed who all who call on him for everyone who calls on the name of the lord will be saved how then can am thankful to god to be here to share god's word with all of us who are here today and those who are sharing with us online how can they call on the one they have not believed in and how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard and how can they hear without someone preaching to them and how can they preach unless they are sent as it is written how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news let us pray bless thy word unto our hearts almighty god and glorify thy name through christ our lord we pray amen within the churches of the jamaica baptist union the month of september is a month that we emphasize mission so september is a mission month among the churches of the jamaica baptist union and mission is about partnering with god in carrying out his will amongst his people partnering with god in sharing the good news of the gospel the good news of salvation to the entire world and what is this salvation we live in a world that is lost we live in a world that is a troubled a world where people experience heartache persons are depressed because of the circumstances that we have to endure and we have to go through there is often a feeling of hopelessness a feeling of giving up a feeling where we wander to ourselves why do we even bother where disappointments are often experienced by persons around you're disappointed with yourself disappointed with the persons around you disappointed in the system that you have to deal with and there are so many persons who in this life are living far from the life that god has in store for them often going in the opposite direction contrary to the will of god going in a different direction a different path taking on a different pathway from what god has laid out for us living a life of sin a life where we have wandered away from god a life where instead of focusing on god and what god wants for us and desires of us we focus on ourselves and satisfying our own selfish desires hurting others in the process and even hurting ourselves and the results of all of this is that there is so much pain so much suffering so much poverty of all kinds material poverty emotional spiritual and emptiness within us and when we experience this kind of emptiness we seek to feel it because there is this void there is this gap in our hearts in our lives and there is this need to fill that void that emptiness and oftentimes we seek to fill it with things that are temporal things that have no lasting value things that only satisfy for a while and those things which we seek to fill our lives with we deprive others in order to feel ourselves people seek to solve the problems the heartache the struggles the wrong way and so many times the the the methods the the ways that we seek to do these things are not often deliberate in terms of trying to hurt others sometimes persons are unaware of the effects of our own actions in the world and we're unaware that there is a different way and not just a different way that there is a better way a superior way that there is a gift that god offers to us the gift of salvation that christ through the cross has given to all of us salvation from sin and salvation from the power or the hold that the sin has over us rescuing us redeeming us from this bondage the things that enslave us physically emotionally mentally spiritually freeing us to live lives that are not centered on ourselves anymore but are centered on god and obeying god's will freeing us from lives that pursue greed and wanton lives that do not please god but no freeing us giving us the the liberation the opportunity to be children of god who live the lives that god has for us to live what is required of us is that we live lives that are surrendered completely to god not lives that are partially submitted to him but lives that are fully completely and perfectly submitted to him trusting in him and the salvation that god offers to us is not something that comes to bring us along the pathway along the journey but this salvation that god offers to us is for all of our lives and it is not just for select areas of our lives but in every area of our lives god offers this salvation and the salvation is not just for some people it is not particular it is not just for a few select persons or choice persons but the bible tells us that for god so loved the world his salvation is not just for some persons it is for whosoever will the bible says whosoever will may come and so salvation is for all anyone who will call on the name of the lord because god is not partial he will provide a new life he will provide eternal life for all those who believe in and on his name and so this new life gives a new perspective a new vision a brand new vision that the old way of how we view things the old way of how we operated the old motives are now replaced by god-centered motives those old ways are now replaced by god's way and god's will and when we embrace god's way and god's will we find that we are new persons new persons with a new outlook that perhaps the circumstances around us may not change but the way we view things and the way we relate and respond to them will change and that will make all the difference in the world and so this salvation that god offers to us will help us to chart a new path a new direction in our lives and that is why god sent his son jesus into this world this world of sin this world of sorrow this world that is full of woes that god knows that this is what we have to deal with but he has not left us on our own he has not left us to go through this by ourselves he has provided a way out for us and that way is through jesus christ jesus says i am the way the truth and the life no man comes to the father but by me jesus is the way jesus is the only way but how will persons come to this knowledge how will persons come to this understanding how will persons come to know that they can place their trust in something else other than themselves how can persons know that they can place their belief and confidence in something other than the system that continues to fail them how can persons know that there is a superior way how can they know if they have not heard the bible tells us how can they call on the one that they have not believed in and how will they believe in something or someone of whom they have never heard and how can they hear it without someone telling them without someone preaching that word to them and how can they preach unless they are sent as it is written the bible tells us how beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news brothers and sisters as we reflect on god's mission in this month of september let us be reminded that we have a responsibility as christians not just to absorb the gospel for ourselves not just to meditate upon god's word and feel empowered and feel strengthened to handle our situation and circumstances but we have a responsibility as christians to take this message of salvation to take this message of faith in christ to others around us we have a responsibility to let people know that no amount of human effort no amount of wonderful wise advice by gurus around us can make us righteous can make us perfect before god the only thing that can help us is faith in our lord jesus christ and we can't buy this we can't earn it it is a free gift the free gift of salvation that is to be accepted by faith not in ourselves but faith in the lord jesus christ who died for our sins and so we have a responsibility to share that word of hope with someone and we are in challenging times where we are limited in our ability to to speak to people face to face to congregate with one another to go door to door but god always makes a way for us and he always provides opportunities for us to share his word he always provides opportunities for us to tell somebody about his love to tell somebody that you need not give up you need not be without hope you need not be despondent because almighty god is your refuge and your strength and so we are here and persons are able to hear the word of god not just in a limited geographical space but because of the technology that god has given to us through his wisdom past honor to men and women everywhere we are able to use these technological sources to spread and to share the word of god to speak hope to somebody to help somebody to move from that place in their lives where they feel like there is no reason to go on but yet because of this because of jesus there is hope because of jesus we can still look forward to each day one day at a time the world my brothers and sisters as one song says we are in crisis we are living in difficult times and difficult times is no is not unusual for the human race to endure from time to time personally we have our struggles in our lives and many times it moves beyond the person to the community to a nation and to an entire world and the difficulties that we we face may not be new but they come in different and varied forms but we need not throw our hands up in the ear because god has sent his son to us jesus said in luke chapter 4 verse 18 that he has come to preach good news to the poor for those who are without those who are empty for those who are void of one thing or the other he has come to say to them that this is not the end this is not the final thing in your life that there is hope that through him there is an opportunity for us to rise up above our circumstances he says that he's here to bring freedom to those who are in bondage to release the prisoners those who are held captive and we are held captive not just physically not everybody will be incarcerated but there are different forms of bondages that we find ourselves in and we need not look firm we need not look too far from around us where we see persons who are held back who are held down who are downpressed who are oppressed because of the circumstances around them sometimes circumstances that they have no power over or have no say in and sometimes circumstances that they have caused or contributed to but god does not hold that against us whether we are the ones who have called it upon ourselves or somebody else or the circumstance god is there to help us and to set us free for those who are oppressed those who would want to make one step forward but each time they make that attempt somebody brings them and drags them back two steps backward somebody says to that child that you have no ability you will amount to nothing somebody who says to you will not succeed because of where you are from or who or what you are god says that he has come to set all of those persons free and he uses us we are his hands we are his feet we are the voice that god uses to help to to share that word of hope to others to share that word that would bring deliverance to somebody to share that word that will bring hope to somebody who feels hopeless and lost and so in this month of september and beyond let us think about and take seriously this mission that god has placed upon us god did not have to do it he did not have to invite us into partnership but we have that privilege to work in partnership with god to share his word and to spread that good news to others we have received that good news we are benefiting from the fact that somebody else shared that good news with us let us not keep it to ourselves but let us in our own way help to uplift somebody in our own way help to to shine the light of christ to somebody and we may not be able to speak eloquently so that persons will be impressed with us but it is not about that it's about doing what god calls us to do in our own way and in our own corner god calls us not to try to be somebody else but to be who he has called us to be and in so doing we will be genuine witnesses of his love and his care and so how we share the gospel is not just in words only but how we live our lives how we treat one another how we talk to somebody how we demonstrate other people that we care that we see you that you are somebody that you are not overlooked and the problem that you have are not see insignificant to you but everything that affects the person's your neighbor your friend your loved ones those things affect you as well and we share in one another's burden so god invites us he invites us to come and as we come to him to go out to others he is calling upon us so that we will be willing to be sent how can they preach unless they are sinned but even as god is calling upon us we have a responsibility to respond to him and god is speaking to us in so many different ways and sometimes we say we do not know what god wants for us but sometimes the truth is the what he wants us to do we are not willing to do it but he wants all of us to partner with him all we need to do is just to say to him here i am lord send me i am willing to be a vessel to be used by you even if it is just the way that i live my life let me live my life in a way that pleases you so that somebody may see christ in me and let us accept this opportunity that god gives us to be a part of his mission to be a part of his mission to the world the world needs jesus whether they know it yes or no they need jesus but we have to be willing the bible tells us that the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few let us be willing to say yes lord to your will and to your way let us be willing to say yes lord i will journey with you on this mission to your people who need you i will share a word of kindness i will give support lend support to those who i know who are in need of support and help me to be a true witness of your love and of your salvation let us submit ourselves to him let us surrender ourselves to him and he will use us as he will in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen let us just take a few moments just to reflect upon the word of god that has been spoken to us today today as we highlight mission in this month of september god has called us to be on his mission there are many times when we want to go about doing our own thing but we need to hear god speaking to us and we need to respond to him and to his leading let us ask god to continue to to lead us to continue to direct us and to continue to show us his way so that we may walk with him so that we may serve him the way that we ought to thank you rev for reminding us that we need to partner with god to carry out our mission here on this earth we respond to the word by the singing of the hymn we are called to be god's people showing by our lives his grace one in heart and one in spirit sign of hope for all the race let us show he has changed us and remade us as his own let us share our life together as we shall around the throne he must respond [Music] let us [Music] [Applause] working in his world today taking his old task upon us all his sacred words [Music] lord for bringing us into your hosts one more time when we can hear your word and we have been challenged to carry out your mission here on this earth lord sometimes we are afraid sometimes we are weak sometimes we make excuses and instead lord we do not carry out your mission here on this earth give us the strength that is needed at this time give us the courage give us the words to carry out to share your word with others lord we just ask you for your forgiveness lord for the times when we can share something with somebody but we hold back we ask for your forgiveness father god so lord we just ask that you take our lives in full control and help us to remember that we need to partner with you to carry out your mission to share the good news to share the word with somebody in a people with a people who are discouraged who are hopeless who are disappointed hear and answer our prayers no lord as we offer them to you now in jesus name we pray amen we just want to say thank you very much for joining us on the virtual space in worship this morning and we just pray that you were encouraged by the word so that you can go out and do good in your neighborhood we close with the
