74 year old vintage tractor left in a barn for 20 years... Will it start??

so how long has it been sitting here it's been there at least 20 years I guess being undercover that's a good thing it hasn't got any water on that engine or anything so how much do you want for it I noticed you said offers on the air I've got a price in mind yeah that sounds good to me y'all be happy with that 200 cash as US that's good so I'll try and get it going and drive it on the trailer but I can't start up then I just have to winch it on do you mind if I work on it here for a few hours okay all right thank you I will have bought myself a Farmall tractor $200 it's just got to try and get it going now doesn't look too bad really the tires need a bit of ear and this toy here is pretty uh pretty buggered cracking all around it still holding here though by the look of that see if I can get the engine running get it out of here so that's the radiator and we're still got water in there that's a good sign that caps in better days fuel tanks bone-dry [Music] Cormac farm all must be the luxury model with a phone on the seat so apparently the battery goes on here and that gap and it needs a battery to run so I'll put a better in there first see there's a crank handle so else if it turns over first of all anyway connections will do is take all those off [Music] [Music] right all those terminals were quite dirty and corroded so I've cleaned those up and put some contact grease on them so hopefully that'll do it so we said it's going to start [Music] [Music] all right it's cranking okay so we know the engine is all right well nothing seriously wrong with it anyway so there's no fuel and I can see that bowl is empty so take that off and looks like it's got a bit of crap in there anyways I'll take that off and clean it out and put some fuel in it and see what happens right then the seal was obviously not good it's just pouring toast right out of this I'm gonna get one of those I'm a frog and I found a seal which works so I'll put that back on tighten it up and see if it holds fuel because because the seal is so much thicker than the old one I'll have to try and wine this back a bit but you can see it's quite quite rusty so it's not gonna back off much so I'll give it a quick blast with a wire brush and see if I can get it back a bit further and see there's thread on there but it's just too rusty to to wind on to slightly better yeah it's moving back a wee bit now give it a bit more room this is the clamp to hold the fuel bowl on by the way it hasn't been moved for years by the looks of it so that's all seized up [Music] okay so one that in a bit just put a bit of compression on that seal I believe it'll hold fuel now seems to be holding fill no leaks out run this this I'll pull that out few ribs you see what ins that's promising you've got a pop out [Music] [Music] yeah runs a little bit smoky but you could expect that I suppose 70 year old tractor sweet now that I know it runs I'll change the oil and the oil filter and I will take it for a glass if it still moves it seems to rock back and forward a bit so I think at all I don't think anything seized up there and see that's pretty gunky on the drain plug there what gritty and gray they even have a magnet on there that definitely needed changing [Music] yeah it's the old we'll see it's pretty black and we bit of grit in there but no buts to metal or anything which is a good thing not too bad actually for something that's been sitting there for 20 years or so that's good before I try and move it I'll put a bit of the air on those tires are looking pretty deflated all right seeing all that our oil leaking around the back end makes me wonder if there's anything left and the and the Duff and gearbox so I'm going to try and get this little plug out and poke a bit of wire in there and just see if there is any oil left cuz I don't want to really move it without making sure there's some oil in there also it's like covered with dust and grit so I'm gonna clean the area before I take apart so otherwise it will fall on there that wouldn't be too bad I'll just clean around this foggy but pretty sure that that's we shake it cuz I've had a good look around and I can't see any other little holes or lipsticks I'd say that's the one there looks like just a half inch socket hole she's gone that moved sweet so you can see when I'm loosening that plug there's a whole lot more do it coming out of the air so just scrape that away alright that looks pretty clean now safe we take that out of here there's no moisture on that pug so that's a good sign now find a bit of wire and put in there see if there's any oil in there right yeah just plenty there yeah it's a wee bit rusty that also as soon as I get it home or I'll flush it out and replace that oil because it obviously hasn't been done for many years or the look of it the owner here city's never actually changed the gearbox well so potentially it could have been in there for 30 years or so that well but um that would be good enough to get me up on the trailer and home as long as I know it's got some oil in there going around the gears it's got a lot of grease nipples on it so give those a squirt all right so that's the oil changed oil and filter changed that's got radiator fluid or flush that out and change it when I get home we've greased everything pump the tires up and check the gearbox oil with there's plenty in there so I'm just going to go around get all the moving parts a bit of a squirt of oil just because I can everything looks pretty dry so it'll help give the seals a bit of a wall hasn't been used for years can't hurt just the oil those seals up a little bit I'll check that um steering box well when I get home I see that's been weeping out as well let's see linear it's obviously gone all right I think that's all ready to go now so see if I can start it again and back it out and put on the trailer [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
