all right guys video you're about to see is getting to go check out a friend of ours 55 gasser that he built and i think 1963 64. uh pretty special it's a really neat car he's kind of like a local hero kind of guy he did a lot of amazing stuff and it's a pretty cool barn find so you'll see it in a storage trailer and i also got a few really grainy old pictures of the chicken coop it was sitting in for probably 50 plus years and it's been out in this storage container for i don't know about six months and i know the car is not for sale and i'm not gonna you know let the location out of where it's at but uh his grandson who's also a friend of mine will you know in the near future be getting that car road worthy or at least you know running and driving so they have the original 389 pontiac the original which you'll see in the video the original cast iron four-speed hydramatic auto they had in it they got the original hillborn injection and i think um everything else that was with the car so yeah sit back and enjoy it's a pretty neat little video with some cool history on the car as well as what uh he did back then so [Music] [Music] so [Music] oh my gosh that's a big trailer so what's he gonna do to get more bees i don't know he lost quite a few all right hear the angels i did now is that is that transmission one of them high dollar power guides that's the high dramatic you said you used right it's a cast iron four feet hydromatic i thought it was that that's a heavy unit i got a picture should be unlocked boy this is in good shape isn't it yeah dang this is cool yeah i like that i love the quarter arches on this thing i think j.r did the fender well did he i think he did and that was this body shop here in sharpsville yeah he worked at weezy's with me okay but i think he done the fender well in what year were you at wheezies i work at wheezies how what years were you there were you there 59 and you raced some of their 442s didn't you yeah man this thing is awesome i can't believe how nice it is too oh he even phil he filled the bumper holes back here too didn't he yeah i think he did that's awesome what do you have in the trunk nothing i don't well it might be full i can't [Laughter] remember there you go guys that's what they did back then when they moved the engine back they put you know well it's all aluminum floor isn't it yeah yeah full aluminum floor little firewall we left the braces in okay left the floor braces yeah wow how cool oh trunks empty isn't it and i'm assuming the battery used to be in the trunk as well right yeah it's pretty damn good shape yeah oh cool look at the steering rind kind of stinks with them that's what i was talking about using the stop steering will you will it clear the yeah it should clear the header won't it yep oh is he happening and here's the forward forward monolith dude look at that that is sick that setup is awesome you see why i was saying i would really like to try to use that stock steering is going to come out a little higher did this have did this have fender well exit headers yeah i think so did i fit the fender wells from this front end was in my basement oh okay because they're not there anymore okay it might be rusted fast yeah probably better be safe not to break it oh yeah it's stuck down the frame jason grab that change there it goes how freaking awesome is that what okay so i see how he's mounting now i don't think we've done it but this has also got a pontiac in it which is similar to a small block so we have a big block in it which does kind of the room wise oh wow man that's crazy how much you guys reset is awesome you resisted a lot well if he's not what 25 25 that's what she's allowed so that's what we set it back now did you do did you do all the chassis work on this as well yeah man it looks freaking awesome well yeah with our whatever you had the tilt front end's what i like i love that the holes [Music] are these uh four inch forward wheels i don't know you don't know i could i was taking cindy baker body rotors i'll get him a studio baker going out of business and i had a buddy that worked there and he was stealing them [Laughter] anything you can carry out under your arms you can carry out you can't put it in a wheelbarrow right so he was carrying out those and hubs and i was taking these ford spindles and welding them up turned them down to make the the body so you made this brakes work on a forward spindle on this and then calipers there's a lot of studio makers those are rotors when he erased this they had this brake front in yeah dude that's freaking sick what year would that have been what's 60 four or five god that's awesome i'm working at wheezies one another now were you driving personally driving the race car for wheezy at the time was that not not yesterday before that okay this was before this i knew you drove for wheezy oh yeah i did all that but that was i love that front end setup that's freaking cool now is that that's this glass windshield and it's not lexan yeah well the guy we had he had a buddy that was making him flex the glass windows and he'd come out there and took him out and he his idea was more so you had to put the glass windows back in let me sneak through here john i don't want to look at this you're all right i've been sleeping by you and sneak by me original slicks that's kind of hard to see that radius but oh i should have brought a ruler to see how wide these ones i think they're 10. no you got a real giant never mind oh always comes prepared you get a ruler on your phone that's true you can measure it which is sitting pretty good right now four finger widths between the tires okay so without attack i think you might be right ryan that we might just should have went a little higher we still can yeah we'll look at it when we get back but he still got he's still got about that much from here he didn't get into the he didn't get into the double let me see your ruler again if you don't mind i'm going to measure from here down i know what ours is yep that'll tell you yep man look at that he's got all the measuring devices he's exactly one foot it's 12 inches oh we're right at 12. we're 11 and 7 8 okay we're we're like an eighth inch difference yeah so we're like right on good right on right on who who got into the side of it john cowell's oh you're kidding oh and had it you could probably first play where money got mad we rented a barn he rented a barn and they put the cows in there that that could probably easily be oh you can pop that right out is nathan going to get this thing going i don't know this guy is actually still alive he just stops by the shop every so often which is pretty cool that's his name still on there that's neat how would you say rich was when he did this 15. somebody said he was he was so young he hadn't had to get brought there because he didn't have his life well he was a drag strip somebody would haul him out there and take him back so i don't know how solid it is 14 or 15 the drag strip when he was out there so where did you get the idea for your tilt front end i don't know i just did it huh just did it yeah i like the chain idea too what i was just gonna say i like how you got a way to you know work on it while you're the hood's not having to be set off i love those slicks see the the offset on these uh steelies are a lot different than what we have on that car in there so you think it's pushing the wheel out yeah i think it's getting that a little bit more oh yeah definitely wow the dashboard this car was opening for a long time i like the aluminum dash actually i mean that aluminum dash looks like it's made that way yeah see this yep because the 55 has the bad the humps oh cool some of the harness is still bolt see seat belt harness is still bolted up in there just a time capsule yeah it's freaking awesome i got to find out how where that pitman arm come up because that's what we're going to need you know you're going to like that i did you see the engine mounts yes it's rigid hope you guys enjoyed that because that was pretty cool getting to do that getting to go in there and open that thing up and check it out and look at all the really neat fabrication they did on that card to to do what they did so it was it was a pretty cool experience i know a lot of you guys watching this love barn finds and love that i mean that car is like a time capsule so it's pretty cool pretty experienced hope you guys enjoyed it and look forward to the next video in the next few days uh getting back on the gas or we're building so we actually used his car to measure some things out and make sure that we're doing stuff correct because that car literally was built in that time so yeah like comment and subscribe really enjoying uh growing with everybody and seeing everybody commenting and liking what we're doing so yeah we're out
