having just released on Xbox and the Microsoft store The Realm of valheim is sure to have a new wave of Vikings venturing onto its lands for the very first time so for all of you here are 50 plus spoiler-free tips to get you kick-started on your valheim journey let's get into it tree chopping early on can be a dangerous task as falling logs can do some pretty significant damage trees on hillsides to cause the resulting logs to crash into other trees effectively cutting your work in half hitting multiple resources at the same time is not more efficient as the overall damage you deal is split between each Target the same is true when dealing damage to multiple enemies at the same time you can hold down primary attack to continuously swing rather than constantly tapping the Raven increased at night the torch is your friend early game and will repel certain creatures like boars graylings or great orbs hitting creatures with the torch will light them on fire for a period of time healing some extra damage a torch can also be carried in your off hand allowing for the use of other weapons simultaneously a campfire also works the same way in repelling some creatures from the area campfires require proper ventilation and will otherwise extinguish automatically and even cause damage to the player staying near a campfire for 20 seconds will grant you the rested buff the rested buff gives you plus 50 health regen and plus 100 stamina regen basically you want to stay in the rest of the state as much as possible Furniture increases Comfort level resulting in a longer rested buff things like a bed table and even a throne chair meat can burn if left on a cooking rack for too long but this does result in another way of getting coal multiple cooking stations can be placed over a singular campfire 6 being the maximum if you really squeeze them in Foods in valheim serve purely as stat bonuses to stamina and health so don't worry about starving to death as it's not an option but it is a good idea to stay topped up on food regardless be wary of going AFK without pausing the game world events can trigger at any time meaning an invasion could be on the charts and you might find things looking a bit different when you get back if you happen to stumble across this sunny beautiful looking biome well uh get out of there Dodge rolling is the single best way to avoid effective block also consider the quality of your shield and its level as well as the level of your blocking skill these are all factors that will determine your blocking potential against stronger enemies [Music] there are multiple damage types within valheim particular to each weapon which can be more or less effective depending on the type of creature you're fighting the color of the damage indicators will guide you in knowing what weapon is best against each creature gray meaning resistant white meaning neutral and yellow meaning effective attacking an enemy that is unaware of your precise location will inflict bonus damage this can be seen by looking at the indicator above their head no indicator meaning completely unaware a yellow indicator meaning aware and searching but with no precise location and the red indicator meaning detected making noise while in the vicinity of a hostile creature will get their attention useful if you want to lure them away from their post most weapons have a special attack which take longer to perform but deal more damage and you look cool too keep some Reserve gear at your base you never know when you might perish and if you do so in the wrong place it might be pretty hard to get your gear back without any backups you typically want to aim your bows slightly up and to the right of your target to successfully land a hit this will improve over time as you upgrade your bow no hill is too steep to climb despite what it might look like you happen to share genetics with those of mountain goats so get to jumping and use rocks as checkpoints to regain your stamina [Music] logging out of a server with your character even if it is a single player world will bring that character's inventory with you to do with that information
