hey y'all welcome to the crafty Cove where we like to do Farmhouse Decor on a Dollar Tree budget if you're new here welcome and I hope after you watch this video you will consider subscribing we're going to get right into our DIYs today and all of my DIYs are made for my kitchen because my husband and I are remodeling my kitchen and I need some things to go in there so for our first DIY we're going to use three canning caps with the insert and you want to take that insert out but go ahead and save that because you're going to need it I'm going to take three different materials from the Dollar Tree and on this blue and white check and a black and white check I cut strips on the other one you see there to the left on that one I cut a notch at the top of the fabric and then just tore it but that gave a lot of the frillies a lot more than this did so on the last two or this one and the black and white check I decided to go ahead and cut because you don't get as many of the frillies in that sorry that was a long explanation but what I'm doing then is I'm taking one of the strips and I'm just going to start tying it around the canning ring and I'm using two knots on this and then scooting them close together it's kind of like a rag wreath only you're using the canning jars out of each strip I end up getting probably two pieces some of them I can get three and I just leave it the length that it is when I cut it and then I just cut it as I tie it on I used one bundle of this material for each a little less than one bundle of the material on this blue and white check and a little less than one bundle on the black and white check and then about half the bundle on the other material I hope that makes sense but you're just going to continue tying all the way around the canning jars two knots in each piece and then scooting them close together as close as you can on all three all three of the canning jar lids I hope that made sense so I just I didn't want you to watch all of it so now we're just down to our last couple of strips that we are going to go ahead and tie on and once we get that finished and we have all three of our canning jar lids finished with the tine I'm going to go through and kind of clean them up a little bit just cut some of the frillies off see this one is the one that I just ripped and it was a thinner material so there was a lot of the little strings is what I should call them not for really stringies after we get that finished I'm going to take some of the leftover strips and I'm just going to glue them right in the middle of this insert of the canning jar lid and I'm doing this because we're making flowers and these are going to be the center of our flowers and I kind of want it to be puffed up a little bit but I didn't have any cotton or anything like that so I just used some excess material that I had then we're going to take the thinner material and we're going to use this on one canning jar and we're just folding it in half and gluing it together because it is very thin this one is and then I'm just going to start gluing it onto the insert of the canning jar blade now I'm just doing this sort of like a present really no Rhyme or Reason uh yeah this is how I wrap presents too y'all so I'm not a very good wrapper so we're just going to get this completely glued on there on the other two inserts we use black and white Czech ribbon with the material in the middle and that's it now we're just going to take those centers and we're going to glue them right to the front of our canning jar rings and here you can see I'm using the black and white and I'm doing the same thing and on that black and white check again we use two I do two inserts the exact same way once we get that finished what you're seeing me just go ahead and start wrapping this uh black and white once we get that finished I get out my little salt that I love and even though I'm home I'm still using it and I'm going to cut down some dowel rods these are dowel rods from I believe Walmart and I just cut them down to varying sizes I do one will be the longest one and then one a little shorter than that and then one a little shorter than that because I kind of want them to be staggered in my jar now that they're all cut down we're going to go ahead and use some apple Barrel Amber craft paint and I'm going to paint all three of these dowel rods in that color and I just give one good coat it was perfect for what I needed it for so one good coat worked perfectly after we get them all finished and we get them dry we're going to move on and to a glass jar and I'm going to use some of this blue cotton Apple Barrel paint because I wanted just a little bit of pop of color and I'm so glad that I did this y'all I painted the inside of the jar instead of the outside of the jar because I knew I wanted to add a rub on transfer on this and I thought it would definitely pull my paint up after I did this I will always always paint the inside of the jar because I loved how this turned out and again just a little pop of color y'all know I'm not real colorful but I wanted that little pop blue to stand out after we get all of the inside coated with just one coat that's all it needed now I'm going to take this Farm flat fresh flowers rub on transfer from the Dollar Tree and we are going to put that right on there something I didn't show you is after I got all of that finished I did go ahead and glue some Buffalo chick ribbon around the mouth of the jar because you all know me I love buffalo check now you can always use any type of material for the flowers any color paint for the jar any kind of decal or rub on transfer that you have you don't have to make it exactly like I made it this is just for inspiration so after we get that finished now we're going to start attaching our stems to our flowers the way I'm going to do this is I find that where what I want to be the bottom of the flower I scoot some of those material pieces apart put a lot of hot glue right in the middle and glue my dowel rod right to that after that it has set up a little bit where I can move it I go or I can move I go ahead and just reinforce with more hot glue all around the stem and I'm just going to show you one more time again scoop some of those apart to where you see the actual canning ring and then put some hot glue quite a bit of hot glue glue your stem and then go ahead and reinforce all around the outside of that with some more hot glue and this is how it turned out my flowers aren't the best they are a little messy but y'all that jar I absolutely love it and you'll know that I like to be a little more rustic anyway so the flowers don't bother me I hope you all enjoyed this one [Music] now we're going to move right on to DIY number two so I got this piece from The Hobby Lobby about two years ago and I had an idea for it but then I changed my mind but as I was looking for something to do this project on I found this it says 14.99 but I can guarantee you that I got it half off because that's the only time that I ever buy anything from the Hobby Lobby we're just going to rough it up a little bit more with my Sandy blocks sorry about the shaking and now we're going to take three of these galvanized animals from the Dollar Tree I'm going to start with the chicken I'm going to remove the hanger and then I'm going to take a piece of this material also from the Dollar Tree and just figure out where I want it on this chicken and we're going to cut it down to the size that we need after that I'm going to coat my chicken in a good layer of mod podge this is the easiest way I could find to do this because I did not want like the bubbles from the hot glue so I'm just going to go ahead and get my whole old chicken covered in mod podge and then place my fabric over it and then I'm just going to use my brayer tool and go ahead and go over it to make sure there are no bubbles [Music] foreign after that I'm going to get cut just a little bit closer to the chicken and then we are going to use our craft knife and go all the way around our chicken so we only have the chicken covered with no excess [Music] after that I'm going to go ahead and cover this entire chicken with another layer of mod podge because this is fabric it will be going in my kitchen just in case something were to get splashed on it now we're going to move on excuse me two hour Pig and our cow are going to be done the exact same way we remove the Jew and then we're just going to use some vinyl from the Dollar Tree of course black and white plaid because y'all know me I'm obsessed with it so we're going to do the same thing on both the Pig and the chicken we're just going to put our vinyl on cut off the excess all the way around it with some scissors and then go through with our craft knife and do I guess what's called a fuzzy fuzzy cut to get all of that excess off [Music] foreign now we're going to take a farmer's market or stencil from the Dollar Tree and put it on here and get it stenciled onto our side sign this is the top of our sign I will say this stencil gave me a lot of problems it had a lot of bleeding and I think it's because maybe I didn't have it taped down enough you could see where it raises up and I don't know but it's okay because I go through and I fix the bleeding as much as I can and then we rough it up a little bit anyway so for me this was perfect for you you may want to type it tape it down just a little more you could see where it's bled through and here you can see where I've kind of fixed that a little bit with some white paint but I am just going to go in and go ahead and scuff that up with our sanding block to make it look a little more rustic now I'm just figuring out the placements of all of my animals I do go ahead and glue a tumbling Tower block at the bottom of the chicken and one of these little wood rounds because the chicken didn't have as much stability on the sides as the a pig and the cow I'm going to go ahead and just start gluing down I glue one side of my pig and then I glue the other side and these are actually glued to the outside of the of the sign here where the frame is now that's why I had to add those other two pieces to my chicken because it would not reach enough to glue it down but I go ahead and do my pick first and then my cow that way I can Center my kitchen my chicken right where I want it so after we get those two glued down now we're just going to put hot glue on the tumbling Tower block and the wood round and get our chicken right in there where we want that next I'm going to take some rub on transfers from the Dollar Tree and I just take out like the little Greenery pieces and what we're going to do is we're just going to put these randomly all over the sign I got this idea from Pinterest and I loved the look of these little decals or these little Greenery pieces which even though they're black I'm still calling them Greenery all over the sign I just made it I just thought it made it look more vintage and more I just loved it so after we get them all set where we want them then I go through and I go ahead and start rubbing rubbing them on some of them all the pieces don't come off but again that doesn't bother me because I want this to look more rustic after that I do go through and use my sanding block and go ahead and rough those pieces up just a little bit more so it all flows together now we're just going to make a bow I'm using some burlap ribbon and some Dollar Tree black and white a buffalo check ribbon and we are just making a messy bow so I cut three strips of each of the fabric and then I just start stacking them on top of each other in an X formation and I take some juice and I just tie it all together right in the middle now this um burlap was very stiff so I had to kind of scrunch it together to get it to tie right so after we get that finished we're going to take some oh I always forget to do my dovetails so I always have to go back and do redo those just to get those dovetails on now we're going to take some Greenery that I just had off of different picks and I'm going to take two leaves and glue those right in the middle of our bow and then take a cotton pod from the Dollar Tree and glue that right into the middle of the greenery I just like how this turned out I just think it gave it just a little bit more of a form house look again you can change colors you can change patterns all those things and make this your own but this is how I like to decorate so then I'm just gluing that onto the side and there is our final piece I love this I think this is something that you would see at Hobby Lobby and I just absolutely love it so y'all let me know in the comments what you think okay on to DIY number three this is so super simple so what I'm gonna do is take one of these home sweet home calendars from the Dollar Tree I took out the pig page and we're just gonna start cutting around this pig and we're going to get it completely cut out and get everything the way that we want it so I'm getting off all of that background that I can after we get it completely cut out we're going to take this black and white buffalo plaid plate that I got from the Dollar Tree it is a metal plate and I am just going to take my pig and cover the middle of it in Mod Podge I didn't do the outside edges for yet because I knew those were going to kind of hang over the edges and I wanted to do that last so after we get that Mod Podge on there we're just going to stick it down to our plate rubbing out all of the bubbles that I can all of the creases the wrinkles it's not perfect but this is probably the best mod podge job I've done and then we're going to go ahead and do the um other pieces like the side pieces the nose and the tail and get those rubbed down also and then I go ahead and use a paper towel and just it's not wet it's just a dry paper towel and just continue to rub those wrinkles out and that did a really good job with this I love how that turned out after we get everything glued down we're going to go ahead and rub it down again with the paper towel just making sure we get as much of the wrinkles out as we can then I'm going to go ahead and use another layer Mod Podge all over the pick because this is very thin thin thin paper out of these calendars and I wanted to make sure that it was going to stay on there and had a lot of stability after that I just take my paper towel and wipe off any excess Mod Podge that I don't need and that you know I don't want to show up now we're going to take more of those same leaves and another cotton pod and this time I'm going to put them at the bottom of the plate and that is it I love how this turned out and I it's going to match my new kitchen perfectly y'all let me know what you think about it in the comments below okay y'all DIY number four this is a longer video but I wanted to get all these DIYs out to you I'm using one of these pumpkin spice and everything nice um cutting boards that I got from the Dollar Tree back in the fall but you can usually find these cutting boards at almost every season so it doesn't have to be this exact one just going to cut off the Jew and take the sticker off and we're going to use this back side and I'm going to end up painting two or three let's see two good coats two good coats on this one of just regular white chalk paint and I do the handle all the way around or all the way on this side of it and then we're going to take some black chalk paint or some Black Craft paint and I'm going to go all the way around the edges and use this black paint to distress it up a little bit I get a little heavy-handed but that's okay we're gonna do some sanding and it's going to really tone that down so after I get all the paint on there that I want on there I'm just going to rub it with my paper towel and then I'm going to take my sanding block sorry about the shaking again and get that all sanded down to the look we want once we get the look we want which you can see right here how much of a difference there is we are going to take an iron Orchid stamp and this is the chicken now if you don't have a stamp you don't have to use a stamp you could use a stencil you could use a decal you could use one of the farm animals from the Dollar Tree any of those things but I decided to use this and I'm just going to Pat some Black Craft paint on this wipe off any excess and then we're going to stick it right in the middle of our cutting board I love how this one turned out this is probably one of my favorite ones and so simple so I go ahead and use my brayer I think that's called a brayer I don't even know and get it really good and pushed down after we get that finished I'm taking some more of that Greenery um rub on transfers from the Dollar Tree and we're going to rub two on at the top again some of these don't come off exactly perfect and I think it's because I maybe my glue was or not the glue maybe my paint wasn't completely dry I don't know but it was okay with me because I like it kind of gives it more of a vintage antique look which is what I was going for so that works out perfectly for me so after we get these two rubbed on the top then we're going to take more of those same ones and we're going to do I'm so sorry about the shaking I've got to figure that out we're going to do all around the bottom uh part of the chicken kind of to look sort of like maybe a little Nest I'm not really sure what you'd call that but anyway you're going to see me I will get I show you three pieces but I end up doing five pieces all together after that I'm going to flip my piece over because I want to make sure this is good and finished and we are going to put some Buffalo check vinyl on the back I'm just cutting the piece down to the sides that I need putting it on there and cutting around it with with my craft knife to make sure that there is no excess after we get that finished I didn't realize I was showing you that after we get that finished we're going to take some jute twine and we're going to go all around the top part of The Cutting Board I just glue a little on the back wrap it four or five times and then secure it on the back again with more hot glue and then I did end up putting a buffalo what black and white buffalo check right in the middle a bow right in the middle sorry I didn't show you all that but here's our final project one of my favorites in this entire video so simple but I love how this one turned out okay now it's time for our final DIY this is another one of my favorites I'm taking two of The Cutting Boards uh Easter cutting boards from the Dollar Tree which are out right now and one of these little rectangle signs you can use any of them but this is the one I had in my stash first I'm going to remove the little metal piece that is on the top of the firework there and then I'm going to take my craft knife and I'm going to cut these boards down to the size that I want these are so easy to cut all you need is a craft knife score it two or three times bend it and it will snap right into and then I'm going to cut some of the excess on the sides off we're going to make a flat rolling pin out of all three of these pieces I'm going to do the other cutting board the exact same way after we get those finished I'm just figuring out where I need my rectangle sign to be and we're just going to glue those two together so I put it right where I think it's going to look like a flat rolling pin on one side glue it down turn it around do the exact same thing on the other side and I'm doing this front part of the sign because it has those little grooves in it and I wanted those so this takes three good coats of white chalk paint to get all of that red white and blue completely covered but I do three good coats on the rectangle sign and on the pieces on the ends which are the parts of the cutting yeah the cutting boards after I get all three coats on I decide I want a little bit of more of a punch on this so I decided to go ahead and paint the handles with one good coat of black chalk paint after we get that finished we're going to go ahead and put a decal that I made on my Cricut that says Kitchen on it this is in the font the skinny on default.com I'll try to remember to link that in my description box box below my decal did not want to stick very well and I'm pretty sure it's because I did not let my paint dry completely big mistake rookie mistake I knew better than that but I was gonna make it work so after I finally get this um transfer paper to detach I go ahead and go back through with my paintbrush and just touch up with the white paint all of those little pieces that you could see how much paint came off quite a bit of paint came off but here you'll see me I'm just going to take a smaller paint brush and go through and get all of those uh parts touched up with the white chalk paint after we get that finished I wanted to tie it in with all my other projects so I take some Buffalo check and we are going oh no I'm sorry I go ahead and do a good coat of mod podge on top of that because I know it's not sticking very well because my paint was still a little tacky when I put it on so one good coat now we're going to go ahead and take some black and white buffalo check ribbon and we are just going to wrap it around the top of each side of the right underneath the handle and wrap it around after I get that finished I decided I wanted just a little bit more so once we do that I go ahead and put some juice wine also wrapped around the same exact way that I am doing the Buffalo check ribbon and wrap that around each end also and you can see me here doing that and that is it again this is one of my favorites in this video I love them all and I'm so excited to get my kitchen done and be able to use these in my kitchen as decor and everything I used came out of my stash I bought nothing new for any of these DIYs so that also excited me so here is our final reveal of all of our projects I love them of course you all know I'm completely Farmhouse I love The Farmhouse animals I love the Buffalo chick but again you can make all of these and still make them in your color choices Your Design choices and just use different materials adjust juice not materials just use different prints or colors and make them into anything that would match your kitchen so I hope you all enjoyed this I enjoyed making these I had such fun I can't wait until my kitchen is finished and I can give you all a tour of it we are turning it into a true Cottage Farmhouse looking kitchen and I'm so excited about it so I hope that you all enjoyed this video I am so happy to be back to crafting and be back to seeing you all and hearing from you and I appreciate each and every one of you
