four-wheel drive in the son of a rally car that is until you hit something static it'll buff out right well either way if you need a cheap performance car that can plow through just about any terrain you'd be hard-pressed to find anything better than a bug-eye WRX to do the job with a turbo boxer for pushing out 227 horses and 217 foot-pounds of torque it does quick work of almost any terrain that gets in its way and because of that sexy all-wheel drive just rev up that motor dump the clutch and zero-to-sixty comes in 5.6 seconds [Music] just don't do it too much or your axles will hate you for as your ex-girlfriend don't give me that oh you know she was high maintenance which isn't a problem if you have deep pockets and you can consistently throw money at it because they're now older cars common issues that you'll find on the b phi platform are spark plugs coils wheel bearings rear main seal valve cover gaskets chain tensioner and the timing belt and water pump will need to be replaced plus like on mine the turbos like to fail so yeah it can be bought cheap it's extremely fun but even more high maintenance and if you get one promised me this slap some ko4 turbos on it and get the vanity plate adios yeah I have good ideas every once in a while every automaker and their mom would love to have an entry level luxury-car as popular as the BMW 3-series if you've ever been in one you know that BMW has saved committed to building a car that's responsive compact fun to drive and connected to the driver so let's pretend for a second that you're the CEO of Toyota and you want a piece of that entry-level luxury car pie what do you build the Lexus is 300 that's what it has a little curb weight rear-wheel drive a wonderful reliable 2jz inline six inch weight yes I did just say 2jz like the exact same owner that came in the mark 4 supra now the 2jz that came in the is 300 did not have the two sequential turbo chargers and you know what's so amazing about these engines is that they're strong as hell and can handle a ton of turbo boost pressure [Music] meaning your is 300 is a turbo or two away from being a supercar killer ah so much potential but what if we take a step back doc to jay-z's only make 215 horsepower and about the same torque pushing it to sixty miles an hour in a slightly laughable 7.4 seconds but what's awesome is this car hails from the era of hydraulic steering so this thing feels like an athlete in the twisties so you don't necessarily buy this car for stock performance numbers you buy it because it's a good-looking fun to drive car with a ton of potential and when you're ready slap forced induction on that 2jz turn the dial up to 11 and let er rip the Volkswagen GTI has been around longer than most of us have been alive and I don't really know exactly where I was going with this other than they've been around for decades now the mark 1 and mark 2 GTI was okay but the mark 3 it was special because it was the first GTI to house of v6 and if you've never heard one in person well you're in for a treat [Music] now zero-to-sixty comes in 6.7 seconds which isn't bad but the real magic is the vr6 powerplant pushing out 172 horsepower and a hundred and seventy-three foot-pounds of torque and the beauty is that 85% of that torque is available at 2,000 rpms [Music] making it a total blast to rip around and since it's a hot hatch with a Japanese sports car bargain back in 1990 the 300zx was state-of-art it was literally the first car designed completely by computer-aided design or you might be more familiar with the acronym CAD and with other Japanese sports cars of the same era like the mark 4 Supra and the 3rd gen are x7 soaring in price you're essentially looking at one of their competitors that's a sporty GT car and it has both the curb appeal and the reliability to back it up the naturally aspirated 300zx is definitely worth the look the 3 litre VG 30 de v6 makes 222 horses and 198 foot-pounds of torque and although
