all right moment of truth see what happens here well as you can see it's working like i said there's probably about 70 or 80 gallons in that tank over there all right good morning it is friday and we're still at homework but we're getting ready to leave train going up there so there's your train for today way back there so the project today is i've decided to go ahead and buy another toolbox to add on to the other side to store my other tarp in so what i have done is i took the bracket off and i told you one thing about i like about the the way dorsey mounted those boxes was it's very simple bracket that goes on there so uh i've already bought the stock metal to make the bracket and today's video is sponsored by dorsey i got an aluminum giant it is dirty so the plan is um we're gonna leave probably sunday and we're going over to springfield missouri to get a generator installed um and i'll tell you more about that later but i got an appointment on wednesday to get a generator installed [Music] so all right kind of all over the place today i uh i took the air conditioner off the truck i have not done the aluminum yet i went and bought some hay i gotta unload that well i wanted to show you guys this air conditioner i just did a pretty good cleanup job on it spray it down i think i've had this thing for about 10 years probably longer than but this uh this air conditioner is called a rough neck and it is designed to um for rough environments like trucks and whatnot and the difference is the way the compressor is mounted uh the compressor is mounted a little more secure than most rv air conditioners but now i took it apart and washed it all down washed up in here cleaned all that got all the dust out of there clean the parts so um i'm gonna finish bolting that back together and then we're gonna mount it on the uh the old truck whatever you want all right i got the uh air conditioner all put back together i put a new gasket on right here i got another gasket to go back there but i'm gonna see how it sits on there i can't remember how much sits back off the back top up there but we got it all clean all back together so it looks good all right next step is i got to take that makeshift cover off of the top of that truck right there and then we use the tractor i went got a piece of cardboard to set the air conditioner on so we don't tear up that gasket but that's the next step and then uh probably have theresa come out and help me put it on all right we're up here in the top of the truck here you can see out there i've had people ask me how to put this air conditioner on it's pretty simple as long as you're brave enough to cut a hole in your roof um i think it's 14 and a quarter inches now my cut was a little ugly because it was the first time i did it but you cut and then you need some wood to brace because this piece right here is the ceiling in the sleeper and this wood brace right here is so that you can clamp down between the ceiling and the roof to keep it from collapsing and then you just run power cord up there i know this is a little ugly in here but yeah i was a little nervous when i uh cut that hole in there but uh i'm just cleaning it up real quick and then um we'll get the air conditioner which is over there and bring it over here so we already got the air conditioner on the top up here i got the rear gasket on the back uh i started inside lining it up and putting the brace on and the top cover is pretty easy let's uh let's go inside and i'll i'll try to show you guys how this thing goes together it's not too much light in there so here's the parts wait one second all right hopefully you guys can see so this is the bottom of the air conditioner that's the that's the rubber gasket or the gasket put on this metal bracket like i said i've already put up and these uh got four bolts i got to tighten them up a little bit just snug them up as you can see what i was talking about the wood this is the ceiling this is the roof keeps the wood keeps the ceiling and the roof from collapsing so let me tighten these up and then the next step will be i gotta attach this little thing right here and it'll go right up in there so all right we got the inside mounted so there's that metal piece i showed you the bolts go through there and then this piece screws to that metal piece right there i've got the electrical connections hooked up and then final piece is this thing right here it will go on like this but i have some filters that go right here that i got to clean put that up oh see i bought a new tv so i got to uh do that i might do that uh out on the road oh oh man okay so um now i gotta find the extension cord hook it up it should work and uh the air conditioner that is if it works then i'll put the cover on make sure everything's okay all right i ran into a little issue i had to take everything back apart the fan wheel which is hard to see but up in there was rubbing this bolt this really long bolt that goes up through there for some reason it was touching on it and then i stripped the head on it so i had to cut the bolt out uh so i'm gonna go get some shorter bolts with better heads on there um i replaced that fan wheel probably about two years ago when it was on the other truck so something that's why it's different or why it's rubbing but anyway it's the end of the day i didn't get everything i wanted to do done today but it's all right we'll do it again tomorrow so here's the cutting wheel i'm gonna take this back over to the shop to my little barn sorry about that um i did get the temporary cover on the top of that truck right there so the birds and whatnot don't have to worry too much about uh rain out here it doesn't rain very often all right um like i said we didn't get everything done today but we'll do it again tomorrow i'm gonna show you my uh my metal real quick and then we'll call it quits before i show you the metal i did put the front door on yesterday turned out pretty good oh man anyway i'm a little frustrated these things going a little tough but i wanted to get that bracket oh real quick i rolled up the tarp that was on the ground right there i got a couple questions of what tarp where'd i get those tarps from that i use they're just my old flatbed tarps that i don't use anymore i just keep them all right here's my metal that i bought yesterday or a couple days ago so i bought some aluminum stock same width and fit thickness of this stuff here as you can see so you can see it's about the same might have to grind just a little bit on this top here because this this is the bracket this bracket isn't quite four inches and uh this stuff here is four inch stock right here you can see there's just a little bit so i might have to just grind just a little bit because this is the tightest spot that it has to go in right there but anyway uh that aluminum wasn't that bad it was a hundred those would for this flat stock uh this 12 feet four inches wide 3 8 thick that was a hundred dollars for that aluminum there and then this sheet here was 20 so i'm not going to have enough to make these big thick brackets are like big washers so i'm going to cut this one it's a little thinner i'll cut that and make those right there but that's my metal oh man all right so i got a couple big things i wanted to do and if i don't get it done it'll be i guess i'll be all right but i wanted to get the fuel tank done and the uh what else was on well fuel tank in those brackets i think that's it on my list i got the air conditioner done today or i'll have it done in the morning all right anyway it's saturday i'm trying to leave tomorrow which was sunday i got the uh i finished up the air conditioner this morning after a couple setbacks the bolts were too long i don't know what changed but anyway i had to go buy some shorter bolts this morning the air conditioner is working good i've already plugged it in what now we're getting ready to transfer fuel from this truck to that truck we're gonna try to empty out this tank and hopefully it doesn't get too involved but uh we might have to lower this tank down a little bit or either loosen the straps and try to twist the tank to get the um the draw tube out now i've already bought the draw tube and i got it so i got it set up here and i've already made sure that it's flowing the correct way so i'll try to find a good spot the sun is shining let's see here let's go ahead and set you guys up over here all right moment of truth see what happens here well as you can see it's working like i said there's probably about 70 or 80 gallons in that tank over there [Music] so all right so what happened was the tube is flipping in the tank so i made a little makeshift thing that i can poke it down in there straight see if i can get it all the way down the bottom like that all right i think we're about here [Music] all right i got the truck over here um it's not going as planned this is what i bought at peterbilt or this is what peterborough gave me um this thing right here cost 130 dollars for this thing right here so i think i know how it's supposed to go in there but it's not what i wanted this is the valve that goes in there this is the part that screws into the part of the tank it's got the same threads as that right there but this part right here these threads are different i'd have to take this piece out put it in there i'm going to take this back and get my money back and i'll come up with something else so this is what it looks like under here um i tried to loosen the bolts this one i could not get loose i put the impact on it and everything i was afraid of breaking it and if i break it now i'm sol so i did get this one loose right here i tightened it back up but this let me see if i can get you so you can see this is the tube that goes into the tank as you see i can't get it out bumps into there so i'd have to rotate the tank that valve screws into the top if you guys can hear me that valve screws into the top right there this screws into the tank right like that and then that valve goes in there and it draws out of there i i really have a hard time believing this tube has a crack in it down further down in the tank so it'll draw a half a tank which let me get back a little bit that's about right there so that's not too much further past this this tube right here as far as i got it um i did take a rubber hose and shove it down into there all the way through just in case there was some kind of blockage or gunk in there so anyway i'm going to put this back together like i said i don't want to mess with it right now and mess something up and not be able to leave tomorrow so i'm going to put it back together um this is the tube i stuck down through there just a fuel tube but it's a pretty pretty good fit pretty good fit fit down in there so we're about ready to leave um theresa is doing my bedding in the truck let me show you this real quick i've been working on these too these are the brackets for another toolbox so i've been working on those this is the original one right here [Music] so that's what i'm doing now that's the aluminum stock it's coming along pretty good it's a little slow with my primitive tools but uh it's doing pretty good all right we'll call it quits for today i'm gonna put that back together and uh we'll get going tomorrow so uh talk to you later thanks for watching
