hi this video I'm going to show beginner how to Center the clay is very important but it's very fundamental that there are some steps that if you pay attention to it it's easier for you to Center the clay okay first of all I would such as a beginner using the clay that it's Bo I would say about between 2 pounds to 3 pounds not just more not too big and this is about between two pounds of three pound of clay of course that when you start to Center especially for beginner you don't want to use the clay that it's too hard okay so try to use a little bit softer clay if your clear is a bit dry when coming out from the new bag you might want to slice it maybe half inch thick and then you soak it in the water and then you really watch it again so keeping a water ball in above 5 minutes and then take it out and really watch it again and that way your clear would be soft enough right when you are place your clay on the wheel head there are circles on the wheel head so you might want to put your clay right in the middle I mix in this right into the circle but first you don't want to put your clay like this it's a rectangle it's the irregular shape and it's very hard for beginner to sow it so before you put it place your clay on the wheel head what I suggest to try to pound clean and let it become circle the more dr. circle instead of a square or rectangle irregular shape does it's going to be very difficult for beginner to push the clay around and then after that there are some circles on the wheel I so you might want to adjust I put your clay right into the middle part then the more center the better and never that you want to quickly wait till your wheel and try to adjust it so to play the most center the better then you will have less effort to push the clay around but on this again you are going to stick your clay on the wheel head air free steps that I would like to have beginner to remember all the time they are 3 s's s the first one is the speed control when you are centering you wanna spin your wheel a little bit faster I would say about the more power that's gonna be too fast I would say about 80% of infocar you know the faster that's precancerous not only that the wheel spinning speed also your hand moving speed that's when you get to the point to call up your clay how fast you move your hand is very important so of my speed control is not immediate speed of the wheel also the hand moving speed okay the second s is you want to be a slippery all the time when you try to move the clay you gonna have too much friction between up your hand the clay so puzzling at water to your hand Oh add the slip to your hand so that it's suturing all the time and that's a CMS and the third one is strong support or usually you want to have a very good support that you could put you hand your arm right here rest on the splash pan because you have to back splash pan Oh if you don't have space ready to put it on your lips on your laps okay that's a strong support so three SS that's very important the third one are the fourth one is try to use the point pressure that when you are touching the clay you don't want to use the center of your palm to push the clay I want to try to curb your fingers so that you create more pressure on your hand okay here let me explain what what do I mean have a poem pressure this is the needle tool and this is a wooden stick that has different size on the tip when you put this one on your arm on Danny put about 20 pound of clay on top of it okay I'm on also this one and 25 pound of attended 20 pound of the clay on top of it which one you think is hurting you it's a needle tool right why because the touching area this one is smaller so when this surface area is smaller you create more pressure and this one is larger so you have less pressure on the surface so that's why I suggest you to use the poem pressure on top of your clay now let's start first speed control little bit faster I was saying about and there's a parade slippery on your both hand now slippery and the third one is strong support and put your arm wresting arm on the left right and then upon pressure you want to curve your fingers you clean up all right and then the next step is after you have moved it up you want to try to squeeze it down let me use one hand to show you when you push down I'm using my left hand right on top of this point and then push it down what do you see that place become whiter whiter okay so this hand is like this on your right hand sperm wouldn't write you up I create like a wall to guide your clay when you push you click down okay push it down and your right is a wall here and without moving your right hand the guy is nowhere to go from all time you know professor slippery strong support my right arm is resting on the splash pan on it's kind of a wall here so the click is nowhere to go has to go to texture I've come to the direction that he push and he guided on what I'm doing is using this two fingers holding on the very bottom so the click doesn't become white and wider pushed on when my right hand is guiding and the clades nowhere to go one more time tried to stop from here and I'm using my right hand is because the wheel spinning coming thought wise now I think that it is not going to get caught into the clay so that's the reason I'm using my right hand and of course it depending on how people teach you maybe you might want to use the left hand he's a right hand instead but I find out I find that my way up it's a quite natural because it's still the way that we are spinning counterclockwise in my right hand is kind of followed that direction be controlled it'll be faster curved fingers slippery trunk support up on again right hand he had guided without moving at all on this left hand goes to the top and push down whether because my right hand is kind of like wall and the clay is nowhere to go I have to go to the direction or ask to be guided by your hand up on how can you tell if it's tender or not is ratio and try to place your hand right on top of the clay and while the wheel is spinning if you think your hand is moving like shaking that's not sender on if your hand is very stand still stay still then his center my hand is right on top of it without moving at all why we always in it so I know it's tender and what other come on mistake that beginner will make it when they squeeze up they try to flatten the top first and then they squeeze it up they create a little volcano on top of here so that's sometimes you wrap in air bubble inside so it's not recommend any when you were pushing the clay up try to get your clay the bitter part it'll be higher the center part it'll be higher and when you squeeze it up you will not have that the volcano shake none you're moving the right hand got it it's a standard and if you can do it this sometimes then you know that you have the skill of centering I'll try to mess it up you click in see we can do it again please up was done if several thrive you won't be able to do it there must be something wrong either your clay is too hard all too soft or you kind of beginner tend to lose the speed of the wheel I at the beginning go very fast and then later you slow down so that's the one problem my face the third one is that when you move it in and you know and too fast or let go too fast that's the one other problem you could get in clay let go too fast or you move your hand too fast that's one other problem that so other than doctor just keep on practicing you will be getting into the center easy just remember my three SS control the slippery and strands approach is the poem pressure too the clear on you will be able to get it Clayton all right Oh
