all right revelation chapter 2 verse number 18 tonight let's read a few verses here this is probably the longest it is the longest that any church of the seven was addressed the bible says unto the angel of the church in thyatira rite these things saith the son of god who hath his eyes like it will flame a fire and his feet like fine brass i know thy works and charity in service and faith thy patience and thy works and the last be more than the first in other words he said i'm focused on your works notwithstanding i have a few things against thee because thou sufferest that woman jezebel which calleth herself a prophetess to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication and to eat thanks sacrifice unto idols and i gave her space to repent of her fornication and she repented not behold i will cast her into a bed and them that commit adultery with her the great tribulation except they repent of their deeds and i will kill her children with death and all the church shall know that i am he which searcheth the reigns and hearts and i will give unto every one of you according to your works but unto you i say and unto the rest and thy tires many as have not this doctrine and which have not known the depths of satan as they speak i will put upon you none other burden but that which ye have already hold fast till i come he'd overcometh and keep my words unto thee unto him will i give power over the nations he shall rule them with a rod of iron as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers even as i received of my father and i will give him the morning star he that have an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches you can go ahead and be seated tonight i want to preach a little bit tonight on this church known as the church at thyatira i want you to notice tonight that we have began this series on the churches with the church we called a declining church that church was a church at ephesus because they had left their first love then we moved on to a dependable church thank god for a church that the lord can say is dependable and then we moved on to a defiled church that church is a church that let thanksgiving and things that shouldn't have gotten in and that church had come defiled now tonight we're going to look at the church of thy tire and we want to consider it as a defiant church a defiant church other words here is a church that is defiant against what god is telling them to do you do find some folk that are faithful in that church but for the most part for the most part those in that church are a defined and one thing god was really upset with the church at thyatira about was that they were allowing a woman by the name of jezebel now some bible writers believe of course we know this is not the jezebel the old testament that was a long time ago but we know that uh this jezebel could be somewhat uh of a of a character somewhat uh of this person as uh what it that that kind of uh uh idea was like that spirit of jezebel or it could have been uh someone a feeling with the church either way it was a woman the bible refers to as jezebel and the bible says that this jezebel uh is claiming to be a prophet in other words she's claiming to have a word from god now what you've got to remember in this chapter is this understand tonight that in this chapter of the word of god we are still looking at a church i think you got to understand that this is a church matter of fact i believe i think like many scholars do that these seven churches pretty much encompass about all of what churches are today so you literally find some of this even in our day in our hour today now i want you to notice that thy tires are smallest to the seven cities and yet god had more to say then why i believe they were on the brink of god shutting them off now the bible tells us the driving force of this church was this woman by the name of jezebel the bible says because thou sufferest that woman jezebel which called herself a prophetess now listen we understand understand that there was no need of a prophet when john was writing the book of revelation why because the scripture been given john is writing the final book and it's going to be settled it's going to be finished and there was no new word that needed to be given out here in the word of god and so we know right off from the back that she was not what she ought to be i want to focus a little bit at that spirit of jezebel that was found in this church at fire tyra tonight first of all i want you to see her boastful title she claimed to be a prophetess the gift of prophecy was over as i just said but she claimed to have a word from god how many of you understand that everybody that claims to have a word from god doesn't mean that they have a word from god amen we live in a day with television evangelists and and people today that say they have a word from god friend if the word doesn't line up with the word of god it's not from god amen and i want to say this to you tonight when we think about this church at thyatira we have to make sure that what is taught in our whimsy classes what is taught from our pulpit what i'm preaching and teaching what is taught from the leadership of this church we have to make sure that people understand that we need to not teach the wrong things but we need to teach the right things to those so i want you to see her boastful title second of all i want you to see her brazen teaching now remember i told you this is in church look back at your bible look back at it in a moment the bible says here the things that she was teaching she said it says notwithstanding verse 20 i have a few things against him because now servants that woman jezebel which called themselves the prophets to teach and seduce my servants what's this to commit fornication and to eat things offer or sacrifice unto idols you notice what she's teaching she is teaching in that church immorality and idolatry she is teaching things that are sexual sin such as teaching things about idolatry and she's teaching them to be right and the bible says she has a seducing spirit and she's trying to get people to believe that those things are okay when i said these churches line up with our day do you realize there are churches today that have no stand against sexual immorality they have no stand against things that are wrong they have no stand against pornography no stand against immorality fornication adultery they have no state i listen they join their churches they sing on their platforms ah they do anything they want to do why because there are those today that just do not it is a spirit of jezebel it is not the right kind of spirit amen what did i say about it if it doesn't line up with the word of god you'll notice her brazen teaching again says that she even said it's okay to eat things sacrifice unto idols i won't get into all that but you know that from first and second corinthians and the idol worship and how you ought to not do anything cause your brother to stumble and here she was saying it was okay it was okay uh to be involved in idol worship of course you realize today there's a lot of that stuff see preacher churches have idols yeah sometimes they're called preachers sometimes they're called singers sometimes it's somebody in the church to say why free listen we ought to not have no one on a higher pedestal and plane than god in our church there are no man listen i'm glad to be the pastor i'm glad to be the leader of this congregation but i got news for you there is one higher than me and greater than me and he deserves all the glory and all the praise and all the honor because there ain't nobody better than jesus amen so she was teaching idolatry her brazen teaching her boastful title then notice her bar of time god had got fed up with it look in the bible verse 21. and i gave her space to repent and watch this of her fornication and she repented not i've learned if you won't stand against it you're probably involved in it can somebody help me if you won't stand against it you're probably involved in it free can i tell you this we need to stand against sin but we don't need to stand against sin we need not to commit sin amen we need to stay away from that amen the bible says he gave her space to repent and the bible says she repented not she's living on board time borrowed time god said i've had enough god said i want this stuff out of the church i want it gone from the church i've had enough notice if you would her bitter torment keep looking with me i got someone to give you here at the end i believe of hell he said behold i will cast her into a bed uh and then they commit adultery with her into great tribulation otherwise what he's saying is is i'm gonna put her in a bed of sorrow i'm gonna put her at a place where she's gonna regret the dates he was born i'm gonna put her in a place and god said i'm gonna deal with her and i'm gonna deal with everybody in that church that went along with that false doctrine god's a loving god is he not but when god has enough god has enough look what else he says and i will kill her children that's a strong statement people today that want preach in this list this uh kind of easy preaching boy it's kind of hard to preach easy even if you read the bible and i will kill your children with death and all the churches shall know that i am he which searcheth the reigns and hearts here's what jesus said i want everybody to know that i am god and i'm not going to put up with this kind of stuff churches get criticized in our day you know what's fundamentalist because we deal with sin in our churches because we deal with things like that but i got news for you i believe we don't deal with things like that god's gonna hold us accountable i believe we don't deal with things like that god's gonna say why did you let that go why did you let those things exist why did you allow those things free listen everybody gets up on this platform it's not perfect everybody sings in the choir it's not perfect every preacher is not perfect but we need to live our lives where we represent christ in a great way and we're not a harm to the cause of god no sense in singing on the platform or preaching in the pulpit if everybody knows outside of the church we don't live like we should can i get a witness tonight amen so anyway there's a spirit of jezebel in the church of thyroid tyrant that spirit is a spirit of lies and spirit of fornication and the spirit of idolatry and that spirit and she shouldn't even be in into leadership anyway she she calls herself something that she's not but the problem is people will follow anything they'll follow anything and that's why we got to be careful and i won't get into that but we got to be careful as a nation because people will follow anything now i want to give you a few applications and we're going to be done a few applications now when we get to the next church we won't be done real fast but a few applications that i want you to see i want you to notice when god deals with this our entire church here and especially jezebel whether it be just the ideology of who it was or whether it be i some even believe it might have been one of the pastor's wives or one of the leadership of the church and someone in her family i don't know i don't have any idea of that but i do know tonight that this spirit was in that church i want you to see some applications tonight this ought to help you watch this the first thing i want you to notice is that there is no sinner too great of a sinner that they cannot repent there is no sin or too great of a sinner that they cannot repent what an application you say preacher what do you mean watch this jezebel is in the church and jezebel is saying things about idolatry and saying things about fornication and jezebel is doing those things and yet with all of that junk god still gave her the bible calls the word space to repent how many of you glad tonight that god can save the chief of sinner how many of you are glad tonight that god gives all of us a space to get right with him how many of you glad tonight that even after the first time of the second time god didn't throw the towel away on you but he gave you an opportunity and if you're here tonight and you say preacher you don't have any idea of some things i've done you don't have any idea of some way i'm living well i may not but i do know this god will give you a space of grace god will give you time god will love you god will want to save you god will want to change your life but you have to be willing you have to be willing to repent and she was not willing to repent so god said because you're not willing to repent you're going to pay the price amen i'm glad one day i was willing to repent how about you i'm glad one day that's an application let me give you another one here's another application that god is not unkind to punish people of their sins because of how many times he deals with us to repent say oh i can't believe god i can't believe god i can't believe god would would do that to her and do that to those who have followed her he gives them every opportunity to get it right everybody listen to me in here tonight god will deal with your sin i was reading where somebody made a post uh one of the churches i was reading today and i was reading when somebody made a post and says you always reap later than you sow you don't put anything in the ground it comes right up it'll come up may not come up right then but it'll come up but i want you to notice if you would as you think about this in the word of god you think about the fact that god is a holy and just god and for the fact that god would give us some time the fact that god would allow us the fact that god would say hey i'm gonna give you space to make it right he is not unkind but when judgment does fall and friend i do believe this i believe judgment will fall amen now i want you to notice that god deals with her in three little ways here he deals with her comfort he upsets her life he disturbs her life god said i'm going to cast her into a bed verse 22. then commit adultery with her into great tribulation he said they repent of their deeds he deals with her comfort how many of you realize if you don't do what god says and let things in your life it can get very uncomfortable amen it's a whole lot easier to lay your head down tonight and peel your head when things are all right with the lord so not easier to have peace and comfort when everything's all right with god but if you let things like that uh simmering your life then they can get away second of all he deals with her companions he deals with the people that's riding in the trip with her let me say this to you tonight as a reference an application to us when somebody's not where they need to be with god when somebody's not where they should be with god and they're having to deal with and they get miserable and i got a message i'm gonna be preaching before long about some different things i'm gonna be preaching a message on why you should never listen to a backslider and i'll talk to you about some things about that but i want you to get a hold of this her very companions also had to suffer because they followed her i'll tell you what you need to do you see somebody getting wrong with god not right with god getting away from god you better break fellowship with that you better get away from that don't let it pull you down i tell our young people all the time there's good influences and bad influences you don't want to be caught in that bed of tribulation uh and be away from god and then notice also he deals with her children i think that's the sad thing the sins of the parents curse the children is anybody listening i said the sins of the parents curse the children oh preacher my sin won't bother my children you may not reap exactly as you sow but you will reap what you sow and if you sow a defiant ungodly life one day your children are going to follow the footsteps of that unless they get to god and they get some help quickly so this church in thyatira was a defiant church and let me say this to you tonight we do not need to be a church that is defiant we do not need to be a church that allows teaching that is not right we need bible teaching and bible preaching i was around a few of our not yesterday but a few of our uh younger career couples or at least one to them the other night one of them was a preacher i even consider him about to have way we were talking about how we need to be taught we need to be taught the right things that's why we have classes on wednesday that teach the right things it's just as important as me standing up here preaching you need to be taught the right things because here's what happens if you're not careful they'll come to spirit not necessarily jezebel but the spirit of jezebel i've seen again in churches how can a man at one day in his life be a fundamental preacher and then all of a sudden he's for everything nothing's wrong something's wrong with that i've got news for you if i ever get up here in this pulpit and all of a sudden this king james bible ain't the word of god or i get up here and we don't stand against sin you you play you asked me to go somewhere down the road don't don't let this church listen to somebody like that it's nothing more than a heraling is all it is amen we have to stand right amen and according to the bible the word of god i want to be that dependable church not a defiant church we're going to look at smyrna and philadelphia we've got some others coming different churches and i'm telling you what there's some of those churches listen i'm going to deal with one of them that had a name it was a lie but it wasn't even alive and they thought they were alive oh we got a great church we make noise i don't mean your life there ain't no breath you're not alive amen well i hope tonight that little teaching church authoritarian helps you [Music] you
