[Music] you're in the heart of the Great Pyramid of Giza just outside Cairo this is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world it was built over four and a half thousand years ago the tomb of the pharaoh Khufu you're now traveling along a ceremonial passage known as the Grand Gallery it's 45 meters long and nearly nine meters tall duck the roof here is just a meter high [Music] and here we are the King's Chamber where it's thought the Pharaoh was buried his mummified body was stolen by robbers many centuries ago along with any grave goods only the broken stone sarcophagus remains and now we can pass through the chamber wall and the millions of solid stone blocks that make up the pyramids core from here we can see the chambers and tunnels laid out all around us the King's Chamber above a space known as the Queen's Chamber in the middle we now believe it howls not the Queen but a shrine with a life-size statue of the Pharaoh himself and below the mysterious subterranean chamber this one is usually closed to the public and its purpose has never been fully understood unlike the rest of the pyramid it's dug out of the bedrock well below ground level it appears to be unfinished the walls are rough and irregular here's a strange three metre deep shaft and over here a narrow tunnel that Peters out after just 15 metres but looking up through the bedrock millions of tons of stone you can see that the subterranean chamber was no blunder the great pyramids architects and builders worked with precision the three access corridors and the three chambers Alai almost perfectly and all on an exact north-south axis the Great Pyramid still holds many secrets but now it's also a true wonder of the virtual world [Music] you
