come together and unify because where there's unity there's strength and when the saints of god get together i wish i had somebody to talk back to me when the saints of god get together it's nothing the enemy can do listen my time is almost up but i got a song that simply says lord i need you to hold me in your arms so much is going on come on so many things are going on i need god [Music] y'all keep that music quiet y'all know i'm quartet to the bone so i gotta you ain't quartet unless you shush your musician [Music] i'm 21 years old but in my life you might sit there and say well he don't know what he's talking about but in my life growing up to be a young man i have to experience growing pains but my mother and my grandmother taught me about a man because they said son we ain't gonna be here always but there's a man you got to know for yourself and every night i have to steal away i have to steal away [Music] and tell the lord you know all about my problems you and you know all about my trouble you knew me before the foundation of the world and what i need you to do i need you to come see about your child somebody here can testify when i see these words right here let me say this sometimes this whole life will make you feel so all along people are looking for a friend and a savior they can lean on somebody he could say i've been tossed to and fro by the ways of life's tears for water think about all the nights you cried yourself to sleep but god allowed you to wake up to see another day and when you can think of that one thing as loud as you can when you can think 70 weeks we now ain't the time to sit down now is the time to bless the lord because god has been a keeper god has been a waymaker he's been a hedge of protection he he's been a shield he he's been a defense he's he's been a wheel in the middle of a wheel he he's been my everything now is not the time to sit down but now is the time to give god to pray [Music] has he been good to you i said has he been good to you if he's made a way for you you want to wave your hands in here over these 70 weeks god has kept us through the virus he's kept us from the pandemic some caught the virus but look at your own this morning you're here in the house of god because god has been good you want to give them some glory in here [Music] i went over to psalm 34. i went over to psalm 34 to see what david had to say about bishop wooden's 34th pastoral anniversary and david said in verse three and four he said o magnify the lord with me and let us exalt his name together and then he said i sought the lord and he heard me and delivered me from all my fears over these past 70 weeks have you dealt with any fears have you dealt with any anxieties have you had to deal with the fact that you might lose your job for not taking a shot you might catch the virus going here and there have you been dealing with any fears but then i heard him in verse 17 saying that the righteous cry and the lord heareth and delivered them out of all their trouble if god has delivered you out of your trouble you want to give god some glory in this house today [Music] he got me out of trouble he got me out of trouble hallelujah the lord is good and he's worthy to be praised 70 weeks and counting [Music] somebody told me the other day they said john y'all put too much faith in that bible stuff y'all need to start focusing on the fact that people are losing their lives but i want to tell y'all something today our bishop wooden reminded us several weeks ago he said that worship was worth the risk and there is no greater place there is no other place that i would rather be in today than in the house of god people go to the abc store they go to the vape stores people still go to those video entertainment stores people are going all around the country but when it comes to coming to the house of god they want to tell you to stay home but i come to tell you today with hebrews 10 and 25 says that we are not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together god has given us a pandemic pastor he's given us a man of god who is unmovable and even when the church of god in christ was saying we shouldn't have church this man thought it not robbery to do what was right he kept the doors of the church open and let me tell you something that takes courage that takes determination and it takes confidence and you know he wasn't one of those flighty preachers that said you know we'll keep the doors open but i keep my family home his wife came to church stood beside her man of god and pushed him on clap your hands with that you remember i'm not making it up you you got the video then i was here crystal was here his children were here grandchildren were here and then every now and then when she could get him his mother 85 years old making her way two hours away came to the house of god now if you're gonna allow mother ellison to come to church and all of these beautiful mothers that have given him strength come on can we thank god for these mothers this morning these women of god these men of god the deacons the seasoned saints that have trusted in god's word over these past 70 weeks and guess what you know what this is a good space a good time to sow because you're sowing into god's deliverance after judah was in bondage in babylon for 70 years god reversed it and set them free and you know some stayed and babylon but then others left and when the judge overturned roy cooper some stayed home but then some others came to church and i don't know about you this morning but i'm so glad to be in the house of the lord one more time if you believe that give god some praise and we're gonna move on up in this place i'm glad about it i'm glad about it listen if the world can make a boast about sin we can make a boast about righteousness you see the kingdom cost listen to me the kingdom costs but it pays well it costs now i'm sure it caused some sleepless nights bishop wooden while going from the 70 weeks you had to wrestle with some things but nevertheless the kingdom cost but it pays well you know i came to find out that if there is a mist in the pulpit then there will be a fog in the pew if the pulpit is confused on what god's word says then the people will be in a fog but our men of god stood here week after week contending form of faith preaching not sermons that he had preached 30 years ago a fresh word fresh manna from heaven every time he came before the people of god you could tell that he was in his prayer closet hearing from the lord and not only him but first lady wood and every time we had prayer women of god on thursday she god bless you and we praise god for you we thank god for you tuning in today i know you've been blessed by the service thus far you see that we are a hand clapping toe tapping tom speaking sanctified holy church and all of this is because today is the pastor pastor bishop patrick l wooden senior 34th pastoria anniversary and we are excited we are been excited for the last four or five months looking for this day after all the planning after all the preparation and much prayer god has brought us to this grandiose day and occasion i'm elder robert l williams i'm here with my lovely wife evangelist van williams and uh evangelist crystal armachuku the wife of the first assistant elder john namuchuku and the daughter of our great leader bishop patrick l wooden senior and we're coming to you at this part of the service this part of the service is just as much as praise as the praise and worship what we're talking about is sowing into our man of god's life you know we can't give too much to the man of god as a matter of fact when we give we imitate god the most because god gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have everlasting life there are approximately 500 scriptures that talks about fasting and prayer but when it comes to giving there approximately 2 000 scriptures in the holy bible that tell you how much god put emphasis on giving and we're going to we want to encourage you on today to be a part of this given sowing into this pandemic pastor this pandemic man of god who has brought us for the last seven weeks amen preaching and teaching the mighty word of god and you're not giving a loan my wife and i we are giving 2 534 dollars evangelism for the people of god and so we want you to be a blessing to our leader we want you to be excited about giving like we are excited about our man of god crystal absolutely i think the best thing that you can do in a pandemic is to give to the life of a man of god or a woman of god i think about the widow of zarephath i think about so many people who were in the bible and times of famine in times of struggle and interestingly enough the prophet of god the man of god would speak to them and say feed me first take the meal take the wheat that you have give it to me take the oil that you have and give it to me and then given to the man of god we are extending it into the kingdom and whatever we place in god's hands becomes so much more i know that we're in a pandemic they are so much uncertainty in the land this is the perfect time to sow a seed into the kingdom there's so much uncertainty with our jobs with the pandemic with what's going to happen will there be closures will there be shutdowns whatever is on your mind a seed into the kingdom of god through the man of god will be a blessing to your life how do i know because it's been real in my life in the life of so many others and we see it in the word of god whether it's healing financial blessings restoration mental anguish whatever it is sow a seed into the kingdom and watch god bless your life amen we here at the upper room elder armachuku he chairs this great committee he asks every member for 330 there have been many of us who have given above and beyond that because our men of god is worth worth it you know we cannot give too much to the man of god we cannot uh honor the man of god too much because all that he has done all the words that he speaks into our lives amen the prayers that he sent up before the congregation and i know that you are blessed because you watch him you send in and you let us know that you're watching him and you're praying for him we're asking you today to join us be a blessing to the man of god and watch god do great things in your life god's got a tremendous blessing for you sister crystal she talked about the widow of zaraphat god commanded a raven uh to feed elijah in the morning and in the evening yeah and then when the brook dried up god sent him to zarephath and commanded that widow woman to take care of him god spoke to her yes and told her there is a man of god who's coming your way take care of him and when she when he got there he said make me a cake and she said all i have is just a handful of meals yeah and a small cruise of oil he said well make me a small cape first and the bible says she did not hesitate she went forth and did accordingly to what he asked and then the bible said because of her obedience because of her willingness because of her trust in the man of god the bible said that she he elijah and her household her son and those who came and visit her house during this time of famine for one whole year every time she went to that barrel a meal she emptied it out but every time she went back god had filled it again and god is going to do the same thing for you amen that's the kind of god that we serve you have an opportunity to be a blessing to the man of god right now and right here we ask you please sow into the man of god life amen you know him you know the bible say know them that labor among you amen and we know that bishop wooden he's a man of character he's a man of truth he stands on god's word amen he preaches god's truth we love him you love him and love is an action word and we're going to show him in in action today show him how much we love him because he's not a man out walking by himself he's a man with followers he's a man who has the support of the local members he has the support of the members who are in other states he has the support of visitors and friends who follow this ministry and we thank you for it and we ask you to continue to follow support him on this day continue to pray for the man of god pray for his lovely wife we cannot appreciate the man of god we cannot love him without loving the first lady of the upper room church of god in christ we say she is the fragrance to this ministry she's a wonderful woman she's an anointed woman she's a prayer warrior at hand sister crystal you want to talk about the first lady a little bit absolutely it would be my pleasure i was just thinking about in the program today that we have we have the the top picture of bishop and first lady and on the inside we have the picture of first lady and we have mrs unmovable and i think that that just looks so good but it really tells the story of how she is right beside her husband standing unmovable in the doctrine and in the things of god throughout this pandemic she has been coming to church she is the directors of women's ministry and we have grown by leaps and bounds correct so much has been going on we've continued everything that we usually do we've had our seven week studies we've had our prayer retreats we've had our summer empowerment and we are coming up on women's weekend and the thing that god gave her was to sure up our processes of our financial getting receipts and offerings from the people of god extending that online god gave her that vision in january december of last year and look here we are today we're able to connect with you and so many others because of even the vision that god gave her we ask you to sow into bishop william's life amen you have a great opportunity amen let's be a blessing to him he's going to come at the end of the program and he's going to bless you he's going to speak blessings into your life for 70 weeks amen he's been preaching and teaching us the word of god the ways to give on the screen please let's here a very short period of time there's a oneness in the spirit here that's just totally amazing i'm just getting here but but we because i'm a part of it now are so blessed to have you bishop to have you first lady we are so blessed and for the convocation um i think it was the women's night or i forgot maybe his birthday or whatever but god gave me a poem for him and i mentioned it to you and it was called and i will give you pastors according to my heart and since my mom read it with emphasis i'm gonna let her read it my son i have called thee before the world began my son i have called thee to deliver my people from the depths of sin my son i have called you to show them me i will make your name great because you have made mine greater a priest of the gospel clothed in white linen the angel of the house of god is swiftly sending a pastor according to my heart cut out by me direct meaning god with love and compassion you are graciously standing in a godly fashion preaching and teaching with knowledge and understanding to the souls of men women boys and girls on a global scale giving them a sound word to deliver their souls from hell a pastor according to my heart who you are i have give who you are i have given you keen sensitive sensitivity for my people you trusted and you obeyed knowing it's a suffering way my son you have always been in it to stay in my presence is fullness of joy walking in the light and doing what is right a soul winner according to mine heart a servant a leader a dynamic dynamic pastor and preacher caring for the flock as my son jesus christ the solid rock i'm using you in this hour filled with the holy ghost and fire your heart is as pure gold saving the lives of the unborn souls goodness and mercy shall follow you all the have seen and what i witnessed with my own two eyes this morning we have a preacher in our midst an anointed man of god who has forged a brotherhood with our leader i am grateful to god to have him with us on today after the sermonic selection i would ask that everyone would stand on their feet all over the sanctuary and receive the prelate of texas gulf coast jurisdiction all the way from houston texas bishop destroy c bell but today we have a treat the sermonic selection is coming by this wonderful woman of god please receive mother gwendolyn ellison and brother thomas wooden come on let's show us some love this is the mother of our leader hallelujah let's thank god for [Applause] [Music] giving honor to god i wonder if anybody might know how i feel besides me and the lord i am so thankful so grateful that the lord chose me to be his mom this young man that everybody's talking about i'm the first i took care of him i loved him from the first moment that i saw him up until now [Music] he has three brothers and i love all of my sons my sons gave me four daughters-in-laws and i love all my girls i have wonderful daughters-in-laws they treat me very nice but today marks the 34th anniversary for my son in ministry at this upper room church of god in christ and we all know that know him know how the lord has elevated him just taking him up higher and higher [Applause] i thought i was going to cry but i'm not going to cry because i'm happy i was there to teach him things he was my little boy so one day i met elder turner i'm gonna make my story short and mother hurt mother turner's husband in the grocery store and i had heard a lot about him but i had never met him so i looked at him and i said this clean tall gentleman that was dressed in a suit the curl of his car he walked into the grocery store and you know i had to kind of look so somehow another we got behind each other at the checkout counter and we i introduced myself and he introduced himself and i told him about my singing group i have a son that's can sing he can really sing he's sick today he couldn't come he was going to sing with me today but he's got this coal and maybe a little touch of this pen that uh uh uh virus that's going around but he's doing well but elder turner told i told another term about my singing group it was my son two sons and my nephew and he invited me to bring them to church and sing for him so they could hear him preach so one day i took them to the church to temple church and i don't remember now whether it was that sunday or another sunday when the altar call was made and my son went to the altar to be saved and he told me later i said mama said uh when i went to the altar i didn't know what being saved really was because we came out of the methodist church and he was happy to light the candles in the church but he said i went on to the altar and uh when i got through friend i stood up and something got a hold of me turned me around and i was facing the altar again and a boy spoke to him and told him this time uh be be uh truthful be sure be serious about what you say and you went back and called on the name of jesus for real the lord saved him and that was beginning of my son's and elder turner's relationship and his ministry so now here we are years year and years later and son your track record is second to none and it speaks towards him itself so i don't have to say all that much but i just thank god for where he brought my children from i remember the day he showed me his little girlfriend and uh we were in the barlow went in the bylow grocery store and he was hunching me mama mama that's pam that's pam so i she was with her mom and he was with me so i saw him smiling at each other and we went on and i went on david's shot that thing took off and here they are gave me two beautiful grandchildren i just and i got great grands from them so now son when the holy ghost turned you around and you really was serious about calling on jesus i believe you told the lord am i [Music] here am i [Music] here am i send me [Music] here am i [Music] me i would do what you want me to do i'll do what you want me to [Music] do what you want me to do what you want me to do i will do what you want me to do [Music] i know where you want me to go [Music] to go i will know where you want me to go i will go where you peace he's our deliverer he's all we need and if you will just celebrate with me i know we've been celebrating but this is his day this is her day let's give them the best praise of appreciation come [Music] and i think i think i want to say this a great god deserves great praise a great leader deserves great appreciation let's do it one more time come on lift your hands and give god some praise magnify him for who he is what he's doing in your life bishop told me to preach i'm gonna preach what he's doing in your life and what he's doing in your home and what he's doing in your family you need to know that your blessing is tied to your man of god your blessing is tied to your man of god your sowing your seed your sacrifice is tied to your man of god these great superintendents who've come to bring love gifts because they're sowing into god will pour out on them you see what you make happen for someone else god will make happen for you and if you believe that when someone is blessing someone else you won't get jealous if god is blessing your neighbor you ought to shout because that ought to tell you he's in your neighborhood am i right and so you got to make sure today that you honor him that you love him and you can't love him and don't love his wife you can't you can't be good with the bishop and not good with lady pam no no no no no amen they're not half they're whole i wish i had somebody here to help me out i folks say well here's my better half no that's your hole amen the bible said the twins shall become one and uh he can't do what he does without her and she can't do what he he she do without him and our wives and our families and our spouses are are supportive of us as we do ministry and the only reason he's able to do what he does is because lady pamela have released him to do it unimpeded no blockage no complaining no momentum no whining just i love you honey and whatever god says that's what we're gonna do hallelujah i'm going to i'm going to have you be seated for a moment but women of god do you not know if you have a man of god as your husband i'm not talking about a preacher but your husband is saved you don't even have to have faith if god has told him to do it you stand on what god told him touch and agree with him and watch god bring it to pass anybody waiting on something just tell somebody say it's coming to pass so we celebrate you bishop and i want to thank you again i honor you to the highest of steam you're one of the church of god in christ's greatest leaders you're one of the great leaders who is yet emerging in this church and i want you to know your ministry is a credit to the church of god in christ your organization your leadership your business expertise your administration is part excellent and the anointing and grace that is on your life and your wife's life the church of god in christ everywhere need that i think we ought to [Music] and celebrate all the pastors and superintendents who lovely wife aretha my lovely wife of uh this coming november will be married 38 years 38 wonderful years and wonderful is encompassed of all of those years the struggles the hard time uh amen uh don't let nobody tell you that it's just yeah you you are together to go and to grow in faith together i married her when she was 19 years of age i was 19 years old didn't have anything but faith and a name and ministry and she trusted god and took my hand as i invited her to do so and joined me in marriage and i know she's watching and i love you darling and i appreciate you so know that if you're going to be successful you got to have a good wife bishop wooden wouldn't be as successful as he is without that lady sitting over there and they're sure buying and uh i know a lot of you all and now i want to say that but a lot of times people you know the test have a problem with the first lady but she's the first to suffer the first to sacrifice the first to give back the first say honey go hit on and do what you need to do she's the first the first to meet him at the door when he's discouraged the first to encourage him to say it's going to happen anyway she is the first hey man hey man hey man so you ought to you ought to praise god for her the lady the elect lady the first lady of this house who serves her husband well but she have to be prepared to minister to him when he come home after he had finished ministering to you if you stand with me for the reading of the word first corinthians chapter 15 verse 58. therefore my beloved brethren be steadfast unmovable always abounding in the work of the lord for as much as you know that your labor is not in vain in the lord i'm going to preach from the subject unmovable you may be seated when i think of the life and work of a pastor i am reminded of how it is a call to serve serving in this position is not for the faint at heart it is also important to remember who has called you i thought about how most people may not understand the weight of and the place of the pastor it is important that you understand that this call is a call that god himself has to make and it is up to god to deal with the heart of the individual he's calling to say yes to the call many preachers who are called to preach the gospel to travel and give the word of hope and assurance to people around the world they have a tremendous challenge but when god assigned you to a people god assigns you there to walk with them in life's best situations to stand with them when they're facing challenging and adverse circumstances in their marriage in their home on their job in their health in their finances we must be as preachers willing to take the challenge and stand up and be heard as it relates to the call of pastoring that god has placed upon our lives a quick perusal and observation the day of the church world i see many people operating in the pastor pastor rick who had never really been called the pastor i believe i'll say that one more time there are people who are operating in the pastorate who has never been called to pastor less known to preach i'm just i'm just going to be real with y'all understand that people many of them go into the pastorate because they think it is a lucrative occupation one preacher said to my former pastor the bishop ac nelson many many years ago he said i'm going to pastor one day because the pastor get the hug the sisters y'all don't want to help me out people have wrong motivations for wanting to stand in the pulpit the poor pit is a place of reference the pulpit is a place of consecration the pulpit is a place of influence and if you are not using this place this platform to tell the world the truth you are misleading you are misguiding you are you have forfeited your right to even be called a preacher in this day and time in which we live you will be tested you will be tested to preach the pastorate the office is more than nice shoes it's no more than custom-made suits it's more than driving a nice vehicle it's more than living in a very spacious five or six thousand square foot heist house all of that's nice but the truth of the matter is this is a suffering way those who live godly will suffer persecution if you tell the truth you will be ostracized light on demonized you will be you will just be shot down as it relates to your character trying to destroy your influence but if you just keep on being unmovable god will always show up and then show out i hope y'all gonna pray with me just for a few moments you must understand you must understand you must understand that god has a plan and purpose on your life you see the blacksmith takes time to shape and form precious metals and to objects that can stand up to the test of time no matter if it is a chisel or sword these tools all have to go through the foraging process in order to make sure that they are strong enough to withstand what they will be used for doing that process i'm preaching already there is a stage where tempering takes place timbering is the process of heating holding hammering and reheating that adds stress to the metal until it becomes the desired instrument sometimes god allows us to be tempered tempering takes place in the lives of preachers in the lives of those who are called by god because the lord is allowing us to go through a process that when the stresses of life come your way when trouble come your way you will not be moved god knows how to allow you to go through what you need to go through to get you ready for what he's going to take you to have you ever noticed that looks like the more some folk come you know god's getting ready to bless you sometimes prophet you know i don't mean no harm you know sometimes people say you know god get ready to bless you god get ready to bless you well then i start i started bracing for something to happen because god never just bless you until he carries you through some process to prepare you for where he's carrying you because if he don't process you you will not be able to withstand or to appreciate what god is going to release in your life some folk just got it too easy why don't y'all say that with me some people got it too easy they didn't have to pay the car note their daddy paid it for them they didn't have to pay the insurance their daddy paid it for them so they would tap a car every year but when you got to pay a car noted when you got to pay insurance and when you got to pay amen the light bill you cut the lights off you'll turn that thermostat from 69 up to round 73 74 and then cut the ceiling fans on why because of the responsibility that comes with the blessing so so when the mental is tempered it pulls out the brittleness that's in the metal and the metal becomes even stronger i would dare to say that going through pastoral ministry is uh a consistent or a constant process of timbering as an instrument until god has removed all of the brittleness out of us as servants you see bishop wooten is rooting his unmovable because god allowed him to go through the process long enough and if you go through i know i know don't nobody want to go through but let me share with you going through is better than being stuck because if god is carrying you through he is going to give you the assurance and the power to withstand the heat but you got to be willing to live for him throw those hands up and say i'm going to live for him i'm going to live for the lord so we all won't be perfect in this life and that really won't happen until we meet jesus but in our text paul is encouraging those who are in the church of corinth with words of their own victory over death in the face of adversity immoral behavior corruption worldly activity paul is writing to remind this church that they have the victory in jesus christ the christians of corinth were going through a tempering process and they are being hammered with the corruption in their local church thankfully for them paul is reminding them that even though they are going through this process they can be encouraged that jesus christ gives them victory even over death the old testament kept the mystery of the revelation of christ's mystery at first but though the people of this day knew that christ was coming paul now preached the factual truth that christ had been revealed to them through his death burial and resurrection he opens up the chapter chapter 15 paul lays out the historical facts that christ has indeed risen from the dead he has risen he has risen anybody glad to know that he has risen from somebody say from the dead oh yes from the dead and as he as he moves on this is a historical fact it is not something that has been made up in some fictional way paul then reminds the believer that if christ did not rise from the dead then our faith is vain christ's finishing work on the cross at calvary has paid the ultimate debt for all sin that alone should encourage all of us to remain fixed in the faith to remain fixed in the faith of jesus christ paul gives those who serve christ a spiritual pickup when it seems that a load of ministry becomes too much you see the main idea of this whole pericope or this passage of scripture is the text is tailored to teach you and i that if you continue to serve christ with your whole heart it pays eternal dividends now and forever the first thing i'd like to live one of the ways that we see this is to stay unmovable or to stay committed to the call of the resurrected christ sermonically we are putting uh an emphasis on verse 58. but i want to share with you that is what we will anchor down here in the text we'll go back there but paul has now revealed the great mystery of the church at corinth he has told them another historical fact he has reminded them that christ has a new body as well after the resurrection this new body that jesus has is one that we will also have if we keep believing in christ in other words christ is a testimony he's an example just follow christ stop following gossip mess confusion stuff that's not true stop following people on social media just because they're famous many folk famous are full of demonic conversation the wrong spirit is leading them and you think it becomes law because famous somebody said somebody said somebody said this that it's not right but what does the bible say what does the word of god say it says we all hole in this church i wish i had somebody here that believed that we are holding this truth he said come out from among them and touch not the unclean thing said the lord and i receive you unto myself all liars will have their part in the lake that burn it with fire and brimstone we are living in the last days men have become lovers of themselves having itching ears can i preach a few minutes here itchy ear everybody say touch your ear touch your ear touch your ear just touch your ear now you know your ear is too close to your mouth your nose and your eyes your eyes your ear your ear gate have to be protected because what goes in your ear affects your sight it affects your discernment and it affects what comes out of your mouth that's why children that can't hear well can't talk well they they hear so when they talk but if the ear gate is ever open they are progressing right and they hear clearly they're going to speak what they hear that's why it's important for you to understand you need to be able to hear the word of god how can we hear without a preacher and how can he preach except he be sent be sent being made away for paid for like y'all doing today we got to send our preachers out of stress send them away from stressful situations why that's why you got to bless your man of god man god ain't got no business worried about how you gonna pay his bills how are you gonna keep the church how you gonna oh okay okay okay you got to know that we got to do this we got to know that we got to tell people the truth you got to tell people the truth he's telling though he's telling these people whose church resembles the world that what they are seeing now is not what christ has called them to be he's talking to the corinthian church you must understand that the issue of the corinthian church are not far-fetched from some of what we are experiencing today in the local church amen ain't no need y'all acting like it's not true it's corruption in the church it's politics in the church there are liars in the church let me just go and say like this y'all think that isis is a terrorist y'all thought that bin laden was the only terrorist i want to tell y'all we have some terriers in the church they would just they would destroy your character they would blow they were so discarded among the brethren and keep right on speaking in some kind of tongue but i came to let you know it's not about your tongue the holy ghost really didn't come to give us tongues he came to give us power y'all don't want to help me that's what he came for he came to give us power he came to give us power sometimes we have the biggest misnomers about what's going to keep love and what's going to keep the marriage together you know if you love one another your marriage is going to work that's a lie too cause a whole lot of folk love one another but they don't have wisdom wisdom it takes wisdom to know how to stay with a woman it takes wisdom to know how to serve and handle your husband you just can't have love you got to have some sense too [Applause] i'm preaching too long this small town west of athens and greece is a city that is one of the international commerces in the home of the greek god aphrodite it's strange to me because the great new testament scholar gordon feed likens corinth to las vegas nevada and i know we call that in america sin city but i want you to know every city of sin city you got sin in everywhere you got sitting in houston but we highlight las vegas and this theologian likens it correct to las vegas he makes it clear that there is a calling for cho for those of us who are in christ paul says there's a calling to remember that though what we are dealing with now cannot be prepared to what is coming in christ's second coming what about what about the call of the resurrection let me tell you something christ is on his way back we're living in the last days oh we're living in the last days every day that we live on this earth these earthly bodies are beckoning in to be with our lord and resurrected savior every day i can hear the voice of one sage pastor who said these words as he was eulogizing a member he said we are decaying daily oh yes we are it is it is not merely just dirt that is being scrubbed off of our bodies when we shower it is the decay of these earthing tabernacles in the language of paul that is consistently making their way home to be with christ i want you to know that we are living in a real troubled time the devil is on the rampage look at the world in chaos look at afghanistan look at washington dc look at the the the gridlock in politics look at what's happening around the world in every state in every city look at what's going on the devil is doing what he's supposed to be doing my question is is the church are we responding the way we're supposed to be responding i want you to know that ministry pastoral ministry this walk this is not a playground but it's a battleground it's not a playground it's not saying cliches and good rhymes and good tweets to be popular on facebook and on instagram it takes more than that to cast the devil out of your husband out of your daughter out of your son you're gonna have to have power [Music] you're gonna have to have going to have to have power you see the perishable cannot inherit the imperishable oh as stated in verse 53 we are longing for the calling to be with christ what do we do with the time that we have left how much time do we have left nobody knows at what corner at what red light nobody knows the day of the hour that god's going to call us out of uh from here to into eternity and so we don't have no time to waste i found out bishop i got to unload some stuff i've been evaluating things that people have been trying to pull me into the we need your on this board and we need you on this committee we need no they just want my good name they don't really want they want they want me to be but i don't have time to deal with stuff that's not going anywhere if it's not expanding the kingdom i don't have time if somebody is not getting saved i don't have time if somebody's not getting healed i don't have time i'm tired of going to meetings and nobody's getting saved i'm tired of giving money ain't nothing happening i'm just ready to see the move of god i want god more than anything in here if you want god scream i want god [Applause] i'm gonna leave you alone i won't i want god i want god but see let me help you out but many of us don't want to do what it takes to get god we we don't wanna we don't wanna do what it takes to get god because we so full of ourselves we don't wanna be humble we don't wanna be submissive we don't wanna be dedicated folk now i don't want to be a member of the church they just want to do what they want to do i just go every night then if you ask them on the street well you go well you know i go here i go there get in a church somewhere get in the church and folk calling the office talking about somebody died and they want to rent the church to have their funeral i say if they didn't go to church while they was alive why you want to bring them to church hidden death have it at the funeral home [Music] y'all don't want to talk back to me if you can't make a decision to serve god why are you alive why do i need to call the church ushers why do i need to call the church choir call the church musicians call the church deacons and they didn't care they'd give a dime to the church and supported the church but bury my whomever [Music] because people don't understand that we suffer he and i we don't belong to ourselves we don't belong to our wives we don't it's hard because our children and our wives make the greatest sacrifice y'all don't want to hear what i'm saying they walked into a room we became bishops and signed sign our mortal remains over to the church they don't even get a chance to decide what day the funeral going to be or what my husband gonna be dressed in all they know we've been signed over because we are prisoners of the lord's church and so because we are we must remain unmovable i'm going i'm going to exit here i'm preaching too long i'm going to preach it more correct the next time but i need to tell you what it's going to take to become unmovable before i close there's a church in the holy land called the church of the nativity and the interest way to get into the church you have to um kneel because the doorway is only about four feet high i'm talking about where jesus was born and uh it's called the entryway of humility it is called the interest of humility and i've studied this because i looked at this very very very vividly and close and reason why many of us can't stand elevation is because we haven't went low enough [Applause] if y'all just say preach i promise you i'm going to do it we cannot stand elevation and so in order for me to go into the church of nativity lady wooden i would have to get down on both my hands and my knees and crawl in crowling but i also look at at when they build lords skyscrapers they dig way down in the earth to lay a foundation and many of us don't want to bow low enough to get close to god so god can make us unmovable when the wind comes that big building ain't going nowhere because it has been i'mma close it i'm not out of worry about about a time i'm gonna close it because it's just kind of like when the huracan canes come to texas or better yet when they go to florida those big palm trees that you see being tossed about by strong winds oh yes sometime the wind is so strong until it bends and pulls and it bends and it pulls but i don't care that 150 when our hurricane when it's all said and done the palm tree it went down but it bounced back up in other words it's unmovable gods want me to tell you you've been trying to get certain places by using the wrong method but do like bishop wouldn't it he went down on both his hands and his knees when jesus said come unto me all you that are laying in heavy burden i will give you rest isn't anybody here lord help me say is there anybody here that know god he will keep you you know the word says and now unto him that's able to keep us from falling if you just wait on god god will how many of you know he will you know i've been down before but i'm glad i'm glad i'm i'm glad i found out he's a very present to help in the time of trouble god will bring you through god will bring you out god will bring you over god will bring you under won't he make a way [Music] i say won't god make a way whoa they won't even want it won't he do it won't it do it yet if you don't mind i want y'all to help me preach for a moment if you're not too dressed up if you're not too stuck up i'm not going to tell you to touch nobody but i need you to get up and walk across the church and just elbow someone come on help me out here just elbow someone and say neighbor never i know you've been through heartache and pain but i got a word for you out of all i've been through [Applause] all i've been through i still have my joy yay [Music] [Applause] my joy i'm gonna leave you when i tell you bishop you're looking good you're in shape let me tell y'all something i'm glad i don't look like what i've been through why don't you go to somebody else and tell them don't let the maker fool you don't let the hat fool you don't let the wig fool you don't let the suit fool you tell them say i'll i don't know look like tells i'm so glad i don't look like what i've been through i've been through the storm i've been through the rain i anybody here is it anybody is there anybody here that made it over did you make it wave your hand and say lord thank you thank you thank you oh thank you [Applause] [Music] i'm done i'm done i'm done bishop our setback is a setup for our comeback [Music] now i know some of y'all tell me what they talking about you'll catch it real soon but i want you to look at somebody across the aisle and say be encouraged your setback is a setup for your comeback now preach this with me i'm on my way back with a greater anointing i'm on my way back with a brand new testimony i'm on my way back with more power resurrection power holy ghost power and what's to come is better you got a better tomorrow that there are moments in time where literally the earth stands still and god himself is waiting for an answer or a response david asked is there not a cause and i'm here to declare on today that a man from rockingham north carolina answered and stood when that opportunity came bishop wooden put on the gloves and stepped into the ring and began to fight like never before and he's proven as he put his trust in god god brought him out with his hands lifted high god brought us out with our hands lifted high in victory in jesus at this time it is my privilege to present the honorees for the day god knows i love this man of god and this woman of god thank you thank you so without further ado please receive the greatest pastor and first lady on this side of glory bishop patrick layne wooden first lady pamela wooden come on put it together praise the lord well clap your hands for the lord jesus and give god a mighty praise in the house hallelujah oh we bless the lord and we thank god for his goodness toward the children of men and we certainly thank him for his goodness toward us amen you may be seated in his presence we do give praise glory and honor to the god of our salvation amen and we thank the lord [Applause] for this day and i i tell you i must begin with all the way back to monday this week has just been an amazing week praise the lord it started on monday when uh a brother of harris and sister harris came to the house and cooked dinner for us i tell you they they prepared a scrumptious meal for our whole family and just blessed us they and their families came over and it was just a beautiful time it started there and then on wednesday a night the the women's department executive team and auxiliary leaders took me out to dinner for my birthday amen on thursday was my birthday and my husband i tell you he took me out and um i'm gonna say whined and dyed me but it was non-alcoholic praise god he gave me some tea and died on me praise the lord amen it was a beautiful evening and then on friday oh just some of the saints the staff and the workers came together again and just blessed me on um friday for my birthday and many of you have sent call sent have sent texts you've called you've given cards you sent flowers text messages facebook posts so many things have been done i've always celebrate my birthday with the anniversary and you always take time i'll make sure that there is a distinction and that you show me love and kindness for my birthday and i want you all to know that i thank you and i appreciate all that you have done whether great or small god bless each and every one of you and for today for our pastor's anniversary i'll tell you when i think about my husband you know in december we will celebrate 41 years of marriage amen and i tell you we have had some experiences in those 41 years oh we have had we have been through some things we have gone through some things together we have had some experiences over these 41 years and uh you know one of the things that i can say in truth is that through it all i love and respect my husband but i tell you his stock went up a hundred times higher in 2000 in 2020 and 2021 as this man of god led us through the pandemic oh my goodness oh you're talking about a leader extraordinaire oh my god i respect him even more today than i ever have before for the way that he was determined to stand for god the way that he was determined to keep the church doors open so the saints of god will have a place to come and worship and serve the lord oh i love him and i respect him highly in the lord for his work's sake praise the lord and i tell you the sacrifices that he has made to make sure that he was ready sunday in and sunday out to preach the gospel with the virus being in the world with the virus being everywhere he was always careful where he went careful what he did he made sacrifices wouldn't go on vacation because he wanted to be ready and prepared to preach the gospel to the saints of god hallelujah thank you jesus hallelujah thank you jesus oh i thank god for this man of god i thank god oh i live with him every day and i see the sincerity of his heart i see the love and the compassion that he had for the saints of god and i thank the lord for you for how you stand with the man of god for how you help him champion the causes that god gives to him i thank you for how you have been devoted and committed to the ministry thank you for the sacrifices that you have made that the work of god could continue to go on thank you for the sacrifices that you have made for this pastor's anniversary many of you have made sacrifices and have gone deeper and deeper and deeper you have put things on hold you've saved and you've done what was necessary to make sure that you were able to be a blessing to the man of god and i just want to say thank you you know we don't take it for granted we don't take it lightly oh we appreciate you and there are those who have you know that didn't give today but they've given throughout the week and in in during the week the saints of god have been a blessing to us and we want you to know that we love you we appreciate you and it it inspires us the more to go to work to do the will of the lord amen to to invest to give back to god to serve on a higher level on a higher level and you know even as you know being in over the women's ministry the president of the women's ministry you know being connected to this man of god is what it inspires us to work praise the lord what he preaches is what we pray about on thursday amen what he preaches is what we teach about in the women's ministry we thank god for the leadership of this mighty man of god amen the time is far spent they told me to be short i've already gone too long but god bless the saints i tell you i thought that word was good at eight o'clock oh my goodness but i'll tell you bishop bale took us to a round higher in this eleven o'clock thank you man of god for the word of god amen to prophet dave god bless you superintendent stone lady stone praise god to uh my superintendent superintendent and lady cooper god bless you to all of our visitors and friends god bless you to my daughter's mother-in-law who who we share the same birthday amen so they have to celebrate us both on the same day and i think they do a great job you god bless the bereals god bless everybody god bless you guys would you please give my wife a big hand [Music] amen she's talking about me but um we we uh we made a pact and i think that that's one of the reasons we're alive today we made a pact when the pandemic hit kid that if god would open the church then during the week we wouldn't we'd be very careful we would go uh out if it was abso absolutely necessary um we would do what was absolutely necessary no more no less for the privilege of being able to come here we went over a year or so without a vacation without a break without a sabbatical even because we were concerned that if we went on break we might contract the virus on break i wasn't afraid that it would kill me as much as i was concerned that it would keep me from preaching right i wanted to uh be able to come to the house of god and the saints needed to come when they shut us down for seven weeks they never stopped us for having services actually and kenya you could testify to and clarence and so many others musicians it was a it was a wonderful time in that we would come out here and preach to pews and the camera the church house band would be over there some praise team members um some um bearers alma bearers and a few of the saints tanya would slip in and be in the service and we did that for seven for seven weeks and we figured out that the governor said no more than i think what what was it 15 people 10 10 at one time all right so we figured that you know number 10 in a room is that what they said well we have a whole lot of rooms in this building [Applause] so we divided everything up and then we told i shouldn't even say this but you know we were trying to figure out how to do this thing so we told the we had a lookout man and we had a plan so if you see the police coming then we would be like roaches when the light come on we just scatter and reduce it down to the number amen because one of the reasons we had to do that is because right up there in that field we watched them pack the field out playing soccer and the police would be right there seeing them and would not say a word but they would watch us that's how i knew that the devil is in this and uh i i hadn't read where the the people had to have a soccer field but i've read where the bible talked about attending church and um [Applause] pam stood by me all the way through that time she did not say well honey we need to go somewhere we can go anywhere in the world we want to go didn't say take me on vacation i didn't say let's do this or that no if you say we're going to shut down and this is what we're going to do then this is what we're going to do and we did it and god released us last i think since 2020 the lord released us last this past july i think to go on a family vacation and we enjoyed that and you know what the lord took us and brought us back and kept everybody safe kept everybody home and so here we are on week 70 celebrating our 34th pastoral anniversary the word of the lord was incredible today amen just incredible i want to thank bishop dezrebel when i asked him to come he didn't hesitate and you have to admit he came on with a word from the lord for both services he didn't he didn't preach one message and typically we preach the same message um that god gives us to do every sunday but he preached the preacher in the eight o'clock and then preached unmovable in the 11 o'clock and he preached both times and just took us over the top and what a mighty man of god i'm i'm going to say some things but i want to say this while it's on my heart i [Music] love with all my heart coach hal stewart that is that man right there is men like him that causes men like me to say to garbage like critical race theory not song not so you you can't make you can't make patrick wooden believe that any race of people are evil based on their color you can't convince me that people hate me am i right gabriel am i right heath they hate me because their color is not my color because that man what what he want what he would never tell you is that when we were in high school chuck chuck chuck bishop said right there beside we were all playing together one of the reasons richmond county didn't keep him even though he delivered the first state championship to our county in the history of the county is that he did not see color he played whoever was best you could be poor and black and from the poorest side of town like me and start in front of a rich white boy if you could outperform him with pressure been placed on him by the athletic directors and everyone else and he still would not buy and deliver that championship and i'll never forget uh when we one night we were through uh done with practice and we had no way home and he got in trouble with his wife because he said you all don't have a way homeless no he gave us his car and said take the car and bring it back and he gave his car to a bunch of black guys and told me preacher bring my car back when y'all come back to school tomorrow and how about this the car was a straight drive and i had never driven a street before but i knew this i could not uh tear up the coach's car and we went home and we delivered the car there are so many stories that we could tell of how this man stood in the gap for us and he stood in the gap for me in particular and he taught me a lesson on being thankful i'll never forget it we played gastonia ashbrook see how we started talking about these games we beat them you know we beat them like they were red headstep step children we beat them good but they fed us and coach coach bishop chuck you remember the food that they gave us wasn't good but coach walked through and said make sure you thank everybody and i mumbled under my breath for what and he heard me he said wouldn't i see you monday and that monday he didn't say a word about it in practice i thought that i'd gotten away as soon as the practice was over he called me off and just me and him under a pine tree in the dirt i had to do a hundred breakdowns by the time i got to 100 i had to crawl to my feet saying in my eyes and my nose and my mouth everywhere i'm defeated i'm beaten but i tell you what i've been thankful ever since and i want to thank you sir i want to thank you and you always have a place here he's a first-class man and one day they were writing they were coming against me in the newspapers he showed up that sunday said preacher i read what they've been saying about you and i come to street him out today i said coach calm down come would you give him a big hand i love him i love him god gave me two fathers at the same time he was in my life at the same time mother turner your husband and my pastor was in my life teaching me the spiritual side and the funny thing is i don't know if the two men ever met but i know this both men made up for my not having my biological father in my life and so when he comes here the finest christians there is uh uh stand up sister lake i like to recognize her she comes up she's from augusta georgia and um she comes up every weekend to help fight for the lives of the unborn and she don't need fanfare she don't need recognition she doesn't ask for any of that but i think that she's one of the greatest christians ever put on this planet thank you thank you so much i want to thank the lord um they don't want me to say this but uh i'll just say i want to thank god for brother and sister beaujer um uh they came uh to the anniversary uh i point to it this way we've had two anniversaries thank you amen stop by the house wednesday you know sometimes gotta ring your doorbell and that's what happened say amen um to to all of um all of you to my superintendent my friend my brother the one and only william h cooper the sucker his lovely wife laverne thank you for for being here thank you for your generosity you all are so generous and and uh and so kind i love the bereals and i'll tell you something the singers did a great job uh but uh the the second artist the preacher he had a heart he had a tough road of hope and it wasn't because he's not an awesome singer but after the bereals had words and then the superintendent said god said it won't be water but fire the next time and the holy ghost just failed that puts you in a different place it's hard to go from there to um it takes a minute to get back into to to the groove because that was some visitation and some anointing it took me a while to pull myself back together for we serve a mighty god he's a mighty god and when there uh is a there's an anointing there's an anointing that's undeniable uh it doesn't take much and and things uh things change am i right about that so i'm i'm grateful i'm grateful that you would come all the way from los angeles california to be with us you blessed us real good thank you thank you so much [Applause] i want to thank the lord for my mother amen uh i thank god for her she's a walking living breathing miracle amen god have given her many miracles uh to see her stand and sing and have words today tears flow from my eyes because i remember now it's been almost two summers ago i sat with her and planned her funeral she told me what she wanted and everything only for god to turn around and say not so amen amen and um i just knew that that she was um about to go because i've never seen a person well i saw it one time i saw it in ala turner i never seen this person so happy to leave when uh when my mother was sick she light up at the thought of going to see jesus she almost get depressed at the thought am i right gabriel am i right heave uh lucy you know because paula at the pam we talked to him and uh well mama we praying for you well all right god bless the mcbrides amen all right son i'm ready to go see everything i've been reading about i'm ready to go see jesus then she light up i'm ready to go see uh my mother i'm ready to go see this one i'm like mama and uh i said well lord if that's it then um thank god she has a biblical worldview thank god she looks sees it the right way and the lord asked me said to me ask me to touch her because i didn't think i could ask him because about five years prior to that i had axed him and he did what i asked him to do so i figured you know you know he did because ain't nobody gonna live forever you did what i asked i did what you asked that time and so the lord says ask me ask me to heal her and i was still crying and driving the car you know i'm not the smartest person right about the third time it kind of dawned on me you might want to ask it could be that there's another miracle and so i asked and look at what god did and the song she did today is one of the cuts off of her upcoming latest album not only did god let her live but she was going back in the studio and have recorded again now if you think the first one was something you went to this when you hear this second one we had under the direction of the maestro or clarence rocky rayford himself and it's going to be something so god is amazing god is amazing and i have the greatest congregation in all of the body of christ right here at the upper room church of god in christ i wouldn't trade you for anybody and our friends our members online thank god for you our friends who stand by us you are fantastic people thank you thank you for your prayers thank you for your support it means so much to me i want to thank god for the man that my produ he produces our sermons and and and our uh trailers and the things that we put out there uh brother gary leach almost called you an elder gary he is a fine man who knows what he's doing a joy to work with we we with we collaborate together we work together good now i'm omitting uh a whole lot of people because i always do it's not intentional i do praise the lord for my spiritual mother mother willa dean turner [Applause] mother you blessed us today and did a tremendous job i thank god for her i thank god for all of our church mothers it was mentioned they are my heroes they're my heroines that's the that's the feminine feminine of hero and people you know they say shiro that's kind of made up word but heroin am i right she was made up but we don't like to say heroin because we think of the drug but females who are huma who do heroic things are heroines these senior citizens throughout the whole pandemic when we came back into the church we have not had one service and our mother's role wasn't very well are represented with these wonderful wonderful mothers and you know what it it caught it gave me an inspiration it caused me it gave me courage to continue on because if they can do it then you know good and well ain't no point no grown man being home sitting sitting down with five masks on in the closet under the bed talking about covert and you got church mothers in their 80s coming into church with their hands lifted saying thank god for being in the house of the lord uh bishop bell they could teach a lot of bishops some things that's right they could teach a whole lot of strong male leaders a thing or two about just simply trusting god i'm i'm working on a message i'm going i'm going to bless you and we're going home i'm working on a message entitled i still preach what i used to preach i'm not i'm not gonna i don't have a new gospel i still believe that god's a keeper how many still believe that still believe that he's a healer i still believe that he will make a way i believe he's as much god today as he was before covert and he will be god when covert is no more he's god he's god and he always will be god so thank you for your generosity uh brother roddy sister cheryl thank you so much for the beautiful dinner the fellowship that we had monday night it was something special and we'll never forget it just so many acts of kindness so many good things i have some cakes in the back that i need to get to oh my god it's so good so you know you know i got to ride the bike i get to ride a bicycle or something because the way you all feed me if i don't i have to come here and stand sideways just to be able to get to the microphone say amen because you take good care of me and us so i i feel the holy spirit i feel two things i feel the holy spirit and i feel common sense you know saying it's time to dismiss now we believe you says want to say you're welcome [Laughter] crystal thank you my dear great job today she's she's somebody special i'm proud of her proud of my entire family thank god for you i speak a blessing to you today for what you've done for me and for mine and upper room not only what you've done but wonder how you all did it the spirit of the it's just the spirit of a thing margaret brother owens patricia it's the spirit of the thing if the spirit ain't right you can't perceive it if it's done like you don't want to do it i can't receive you can't you can't throw a meal at me and say eat all of a sudden ain't hungry no more it has to be presented right i have to look in your eye and and see a connection between the eye and the hand if there's a disconnect i don't want it it doesn't go right and the connection between your eye and your hand has been so amazing i speak a blessing to you right now may the god of the bible good god almighty may the god of the bible and our friends who are streaming our members who are streaming this is for you as well you also may the god of the bible cause his face to ever shine upon you god bless you and i pray and speak the blessing a targeted blessing not everybody needs finances not everybody needs a blessing in in the home not everybody needs a blessing in their on the job but god knows what each one of us need and i pray and i speak today that the god of the bible will meet your most immediate need whatever that is may god bless you the lord bless you and keep you the lord cause his face to shine upon you the lord be gracious unto you and god give you peace in the name of jesus and it is so father they have encouraged and inspired and lifted the spirit of your servant lord they made me feel good they've given me encouragement to continue on they've given me nourishment like the oh god that widow woman and how she blessed elijah god these people have blessed me now i pray lord that you remember them one and all that most immediate right now gotta have it need we declare that it's meant and that it is done snatch that sun snatch that sun i see god pulling sons and daughters out the fire snatch them out snatch them out blah blah glory glory [Music] oh god thank you thank you heal in jesus name we pray thank god amen and amen would you give him praises [Music] at this time we turn you into the hands of elder wilson and would you do this for me when we dismiss we want to make sure our senior citizens and our heroes and heroines and anyone who may have a pre-existing condition be allowed to leave first and also i want to thank you for being good citizens in the neighborhood now i love idlewood village drive i love this neighborhood for our 20 years or so we built this building in 98 we built the church across the street on santa fe road in 92. from that time to this time this community has been very good to us and from time to time i asked members of the community is there anything that we can do and the other day a lady told me she was so nice she said yes bishop that's just one little thing i just have one tiny request and i said yes ma'am tell me what is it he said would you just remind the saints that when they leave to drive the speed limit and where those new four-way stop signs are so would you be so kind to mention to them to stop so saints would you be so kind and i said it's late today this is late by our standards because in the old days it was about right and we didn't think we had church till we got down there at 4. that's right and came back for the evening service but now you may want i know you're hungry you may want to drive a little faster drive the speed limit and it's not we don't have in this community slow down signs there's stop signs to stop all right and because we want to be good neighbors and you never know who's watching is that all right all right thank you let's thank god for our leader once again bishop wooden we're standing all over the sanctuary to aid in the direction from our leader as it relates to not speeding bishop wood and first lady wooden are always thinking about you as you exit on today there are meals already prepared that you can take when you leave so we can slow down amen all of our hands are lifted right our hands lifted everybody say god first we're gonna allow bishop wooden and first lady wooden as well as our seniors to exit the building bishop wooden and first lady are exiting our senior citizens and members with underlying conditions please allow them to exit first you
