in case you don't know our mission here at salted is to get people into the kitchen talking about and cooking great food because of this the guys at Tesco have asked us to take some everyday ingredients and use them to create three incredible dishes this week we're looking at broccoli I love that stuff today we can do three awesome recipes all very very different sent it around property and they're gonna start now I'm making a peanut butter and broccoli soup I'm gonna cook a cockatiel tin morning but to start us off I'm making a roasted broccoli salad this salad is awesome and it begins with a sweet potato which we need to peel and then chunked up put into cold salted water and bring to a boil simmer for two or three minutes and we can peel it the slicer middle so I'm gonna cut a broccoli try3 into smaller floor ahead set for a technical term and if you can peel and slice a clove of garlic yep now the sweet potato is the only green that needs pre-cooking everything else can go into a roasting tray we toss it all together so sliced onion broccoli florets all raw branches rocky trees are like mini tree like shrubbery isn't it often people underestimate broca's is something you just Steve and you serve with a yeah it's not the most exciting of ingredients is it well I think that's cuz people don't know what to do with it but one thing's doing it is roast it off from raw you get amazing nutty flavor and it's that nuts of flavor that works with our sweet potato and two other ingredients salt on us we're gonna add in here and I have four pine nuts and the garlic when the generous pinch of salt and pepper and a plug of oil you can eat it raw and it's great in salads just shave their heads but roast on the last ingredient going to our salad is I'll sweet potatoes who just drain that off and that gets scattered on toast on the pinch of salt and pepper Jay yep get the whole thing one final toss and it needs roasting in an oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes add just a splash of water in otherwise what will happen is the bottom bits will burn that's just enough to stop it from burning everything else will roast now roasted broccoli salad on this lightly sounds fantastic but we were dressing on it better it would improve it no end which is why I'm going to take some sour cream some finely chopped tarragon celery salt mustard and a splash of milk and mix it was getting about okay now we do have this salad on its own or would you put it with something else I thought okay just with the dressing and a crusty bread it's a curator of lunch or brilliant sides next to grilled meats maybe white meat chicken or pork open to fish okay once roasted you get all those smells different textures but it really looks great you smell that nuttiness now this is such an awesome stage ever hot or cold it's an idea I saw in staff a in salt cafe in California they've recreated our own version and it really is gonna transformed with the drizzle of that oh yes crusty bread piece of fish but a roast chicken we're delicious it looks incredible but it could be improved by this spoon you liked it along as soon well there we have our spoon that's better there perfect we could add something up to say that that is a roasted broccoli salad sorting let's stop peanut butter broccoli soup which is one of your favorites this is where you're so excited so and it's starter and space to a lot of our soups with onion and garlic and then like all of our recipes a whole head of broccoli as well so you do the garlic other than you do see him 40 giclee take the onion away from me and the garlic sweat that off in a pan with a shot of oil it needs a three or four minute head starts they start to soften and then we can prep all about broccoli any garlic prep I've done today you can done with this hand because otherwise garlicky fingers for the next two weeks so get home so you've only got four guys you can use instead of me go home lemon bang it's got lemon juice cuts through it for trinny and Susannah with the onions soft and sweet all of our broccoli can go in plus the stalk and to that we add our liquid liquid in the form of half milk and half water so it's a really creamy soup as well this isn't boiled it we just store our water in a kettle and that should really be stopped we haven't got stalks we're gonna use a vegetable stock cube and just crumble that in as well and that's it the soup is pretty much there all you need to do is bring it up to a boil and let it simmer for about ten minutes and it's chopped up then we can add in the real twist this recipe remember we said before that study broccoli not being good in this case that's exactly what you want over the broccoli install just took down just take about 15 minutes and then blend the whole thing up so you go with that I'm gonna go with this while your Billings in that I'm gonna add in on peanut butter its crunchy peanut butter and it might sound like an odd combination with broccoli you think about it peanuts often using stir-fried broccoli yeah the flavors were you just might not bulk that pretty and super cool lucky for you Ben has already thought okay there we go super creamy look at the color on that pour it in for useful portions and a little bit of olive oil to finish it mainly some bread with this well lucky for you we've just been back from feeding the docs know if it's a dunk there you go farmhouse granary brick so looks to me like that is our broccoli and peanut butter soup sorted and lastly property and Skilton morning now this starts with a really creamy cheese sauce so make a root butter and flour in a pan with a bay leaf and add in the milk a little bit of time for two I'm the same as you I have no idea one more layers now I carry on making a cheese sauce berry you can prep our broccoli yeah just cut it into for it and we can start to power boil it just get a cooking process going when you flip your cheese sauce if you're adding a couple of bay leaves dried or fresh you just add a real good sort of base flavor is that what makes it a more nova sauce morning is a cheese salt fun so you can put a more Nate over lots of different things like will you make your money to go into cauliflower cheese you make a mornay to go over a grass and you make a morning or it'll fish you can serve it with lots of things a good morning and the cheese bit comes in the form of cheddar a nice mature once a nice strong flavor if you can grate that up and we're going with Stilton so quite a strong blue cheese you need a little bit of that think it's a really nice saltiness it's important not to over cook the broccoli because you want it's really vibrant and green at this point I agree if you can just arrange it you're probably burn your fingers closer yeah that's going to be hot but basically what you want is arrange it green side up into the bowl lovely and while Barry's doing that I'm going to finish off our cheese sauce and moment it's just white sauce we haven't seasoned it we point to because they're adding cheese it's a white sauce sort of pepper we're going in with cheddar and blue cheese she's naturally very salty however you do want a pinch of black pepper so what's the smell is cheese another great quick strong question from the bench I don't know lots of smelly cheese's vacherin thanks and remember the year reversal we did we love our two plates that was a good one and it's all getting this one out and I had a Swiss cheese which I connection in the name of it but it was a but it's like a mountain goat cheese it was oh I'm together last thing to do is pour the cheese sauce over the broccoli be generous some pumpkin seeds yeah and why are we doing that because they're amazing they are amazing howdy Tex your Edit crunch brilliant flavor and when it goes under grills wouldn't we need a two or three minutes just to make the cheese sauce bubble that kind of toast as well so it's all really awesome paulie's left you can make sauce way ahead so you can have a side dish like that read my note I'm great with crusty bread recipe awesome good fish that is how broccoli and Stilton male who knew broccoli give you that good oh man name is amazing whoa place that you get you get broccoli soup first and you're left with peanut butter that is our best pair of shoes I've ever happy it's I know you're colorblind but it's actually green it's got broccoli in it that is really good these are three old favorite property recipes but tell us which of these is yours or if you
