hello and welcome to fridge cat if you eat food then this is the show for you in the fridge today have you ever wondered why cooking is just so great but we're going to show you why plus a few reasons you wouldn't expect and us and our crew give you all of our favorite horrid date stories but first that's cooking make you more attractive Ben cooks a lot and I've not been attracted to him once so you know according to a recent reliable study it showed the partners find that other house more attractive if they can cook which is why we've got three delicious dishes for date night first up Ben's scrapping all foreplay and gave his pork schnitzel out for me first up our parsley and lemon roasted new potatoes that's new potatoes already washed and cleaned into a baking tray with salt pepper olive oil and into an oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 40 minutes you might wanna give them a shake or turn every so often state noid Ben you've got some good meat for me I've got two wonderful pork chops although this recipe is enough a four ball demo it with - okay no I knew yeah that's why I'm doing it for two we want to do is bash them out really thin between two sheets of cling film and season them up nicely see where your dough nights go if you don't have a rolling pin you can use a meat tenderizer or even your fist basically you want to bash it out to about the thickness of a centimeter if it even all over kill this book yep and if you just give it a little sprinkle perfect next up we want to pan a our pork pieces so flour egg and breadcrumb a few twists yeah the flour is gonna have KN pepper in it all spice up your night the eggs are going to be whisk so it's actually just egg white whipped up until they're frothy makes it really light and fluffy good when it's frothy and the breadcrumbs have been made from toast as always when you're panning best to keep one dry hand one wet hand [Music] to cook our schnitzel we're going to do it in a pan on the hob in half butter and half large large the perfect date food slow and steady you got three to five minutes on each side so go nice and crispy but the pork will cook through whilst our schnitzel does its thing in the frying pan we can chop up some parsley and get some juice from some lemons to toss through our roast potatoes when they're ready so squeeze of lemon over our potatoes it's already got the oil plenty of parsley it's a lot of pastas a lot of parsley and then up you're going to want to watch out where your teeth are being soggy a wedge of lemon and a big plume of fresh parsley dish one for date night pork schnitzel sorted if you're not a fan of the pork and you want something a bit more life and vegetarian that you can cook with your day and this is for you naki and we're going butternut squash with apple and pumpkin seed absolutely delicious perfectly seasonal it's can begin with a gnocchi very simple ratio three times as much mashed potato no butter no milk has flour so we've got 150 grams with 50 grams a handful of grated Parmesan and one egg yolk season generously and bring it together into a dough I just realized why I said clarify this it's not a date state food they say this is a bit a meal to cook on a date this isn't a date right now I clarified it with Jamie yeah the thought continues with your dough made and a floured surface this is where you can do it with your date you want to roll it out into a large sausage just to clarify again we are not gonna go and buy large sausage I actually mean long sausage not particularly large less girth more length again definitely not a date my sausage is falling apart cut your sausage into new key shapes once you've got these little pillows of potato dough basically use the back of a fork and just press it in like that it will do a couple of things it will show you got a consistency right because it should leave the prongs on the fork it flattens them so they cook more evenly but it also gives you some texture for the sauce to cling to that's why the Italians love it with the gnocchi made they take very little time to cook at all so while we leave them on the board we'll move on to the sauce the sauce needs some of this diced up as fine as possible that mean it will cook as quick as possible in olive oil with a little bit of garlic top tip I was once told by an Italian peel with the garlic but leave it whole it's gonna give the flavors a dish they don't actually eat it and whilst they're frying we're also going to chop up an apple add some chives like this Apple actually your lunch yeah what was walls whistling oh well I want nothing deal once your squash has softened you want to fish out that clove of garlic it's done its job everything is smelling amazing and then everything else happens pretty much the same time and Yaqui pieces going to rapidly salted boiling water until they float Apple chives and cream going to the softened squash to make a sauce if you want to be fancy and you don't mind the excess add a bone we should be you don't mind the extra dirty pan then in another pan some butter and you want to cook your gnocchi in browned butter so you want that butter nice and hot and foaming beginning to go nutty brown and if you just color gnocchi in it a literally a second it just adds another level of Awesomeness my mum was really one of your recipes the other day what a date and well she didn't specify and but she was in the shops and she was shopping for brown butter he she read the recipe wrong some of that gorgeous creamy squash and Apple mix and then some pumpkin seeds lovely I tell you what if I was served on a date I'd be mighty impressed it's our squash and Apple yaki sorted your first course has gone down well your date is really enjoying it but it's getting to the business end of the evening now and she utters the immortal words what's for dessert and you save salted caramel apple garter and she says what it's basically a classic Italian dessert but with the salted caramel twist think tiramisu flavors but a hot and cold combo it's sublime and really easy to knock up as well as in it way ahead of time so you can whip up mascarpone cheese with sugar and caramel sauce until it's super smooth and silky [Music] ah ah now I know what you're gonna do so far so good and this is where we add in the sea so and if you do it bit at a time and you can control it inside how much salt you want anywhere between a pinch and a level teaspoon but that's really on the salty end and salted caramel is this generations aphrodisiac isn't it fact like Joe sugg then we need to do is freeze this solid so get it into a bowl and into the freezer and that's why this is awesome date night food because if they're in the freeze if you need it if it doesn't become required it'll wait till next time oh I see what you mean you mean if it goes really well or if you're full of zanuck tea left that's what you made if you're full of gnocchi if your fill of Miyake just before you're ready for dessert take the ice cream out of the freezer because it is rock solid and too hard to scoop while you make your coffee yet now you want a good quality strong coffee so none of that instant rubbish we've got Kamaka pot here come our pot and if you unscrew it like this take this little bit out here you fill that with full of water remove the filter and pack it full of fresh ground coffee pop the filter inside put on the lid and put it on the hob to heat up the water will boil and go through the coffee and into the top part the mean delicious lovely instant but only in time coffee when you've cooked on a date before do you wear the chef's jacket while you cook is it like a do you think it's a chef's jacket of power do you think it makes your gaze we've have weak at the knees thinking this is palpable I vote no I very rarely cook on a first date I led to hand the food over to somebody else the nice restaurant but if it's more relaxed then you're in your home I still wouldn't wear this okay hot ice cream scoop going into a glass there is I feel like this is the one way of presentation matters right you're gonna lay it crumbled biscuits in so amaretto arm and biscuits nice smooth ball for the top if you get the whole hog a little dribble of almond appeal yep that's it thanks and then the moment of truth and this is the one you kind of do at the table in front of your date you pour over the beautiful hot expressly that is very very impressive finish it with some coffee beans and there we go an incredible salted caramel I forgot Oh salted I think we see we're easing the sexy [Music] let's take a while cut I cut the pork into bite size anywhere it feels like we've got a starter a main course and a dessert he's also an option yeah or it looks like we've got a starter aside anything one might one I got this for Matt fish from posh knocking I'm going for schnitzel ladies decisional schnitzel got real I tell you what the gnocchi has been absolute demolished lighter equally tasty prepare your faces I'm ready for this it's adult Lili sex in a glass I win also going to leave the schnitzel with oh we just came back to say that cooking for a day is a fantastic reason to cook but there are loads more have a look at this so I'm fitting with our main feature we thought that we'd come up with five reasons why you should grabbing dinner with friends and ordering your own entrees doesn't have the same bonding effect number four chefs get to have tattoos a survey of a number of tattoo parlors in the u.s. revealing the most frequent occupation held by phones was cheffing there are many suggested reasons for this one being the work hard play hard lifestyle and the passion for food required to maintain the tough working environment or as Anthony Bourdain for it it takes a special kind of crazy to stay in this business number five represent your nation market in consumer research organization GfK queried over 27,000 people aged 15 and up from 22 countries about the amount of time expertise and passion they devote to kitchen duty on a weekly basis as you can see India came out top 1 hours per week with an average of 13.2 hours Italy came out as the most passionate with 43 percent and South Africa with a country most knowledgeable with 50 percent embarrassingly the UK came out below average in all three
