hi folks i'm mith with two guys in a ride and welcome to our uh car tech how-to video on the 2022 chevy silverado 1500. this is the lt trim level today i'll be covering the driver's information and infotainment screens i'll do a general overview show you how to access information and do a deep dive let's get started today we're working with our friends at mankato motors chevrolet in mankato minnesota all right so we're going to start with this awesome brand new digital screen here so this is a 12.3 inch digital screen and it is very customizable so uh over everything you see is digital i mean there's no analog whatsoever so um over on the left currently you have got um your miles per hour and then over on the far right of course you got your rpm gauge and then you've got sort of your traditional digital information screen in the middle all right now inside of the rpm gauge you've currently shown a compass which you can customize and then over on the rpm gauge you're seeing the the drive mode and then your gear selectors now down the very bottom you've got a range uh and then you've got engine temp and fuel and then at the very top you've got of course your um a dynamic cruise control and then you'll have some other symbols that will show up like your sign sign reading and so forth that's a white square that's up there okay so to control the information to manipulate it you're going to use the right and left arrows right here on the right side of the steering wheel and then these are not arrows but they are a scroll up or down and then a push to to for for okay so let's get started by just taking a look what happens when we go right and what you're gonna happen is you're gonna see all these little symbols at the top okay so you have information media navigation uh phone and then uh setup so uh then you're gonna notice that there's a little line on the far right and a little brighter white dash all right so these are that when you see that that indicates that there's more to the menu than you're seeing all right so uh right here under information we've got digital speed and then when you go to the next one it's cool because it puts the digital speedometer at the top got your drive summary here i got trip one you got uh the miles you've gone miles per gallon and miles per hour all averages trip two and then to reset anything you push this button right here all right you got a timer and again push it uh to go to the menu and then you can start by pushing on this or reset okay to go back i'm just going to use the left arrow okay we go down here we got tire pressure i like it that they light up in a different color kind of that nice bright green makes them really visible driver assistant so this would be stuff like your dynamic radar cruise control supercruise if you ordered that lane keeping assist and so on oil life again press to reset anytime it says that press right here brake pad life air filter life and then a blank page for now um which is just if you just don't want all that information showing and then if you go down one more i love this because they they make the information that you can access in this particular window customizable right here you don't have to go to a separate screen so i'm gonna click here to edit and everything you see with the check mark is showing but you can show everything so i'm gonna add fuel economy i'm gonna add trailer brake gain off-road engine hours transmission fluid and there i go now everything is showing so if i go left you're good and then i'm going to go actually scroll up now there's a transmission temperature there's the engine hours i added there's the off-road gauges which is pretty cool so if i switch from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive you're gonna just see that little little change right in the screen there all right you're also gonna see it flashing inside the rpm gauge all right i'm gonna keep going up there's a trailer brake gain there and then we these ones we've seen but fuel economy we had so there's a new one so you can customize which ones you want and i absolutely love it that they make it customizable from the same the same menu i don't have to go right to some other settings or something all right i'm gonna go uh back one and i'm gonna go right here to media because this is the this is the second uh icon we have at the top and of course you have am you've got fm sirius xm bluetooth usb google news podcasts and so to do any of them you just click right here and then in order to change the channel see i can go up here and just scroll and i can change the channels which is awesome all right i can click here to go back to source if i want click here to go to the source i'm gonna hit the back arrow i'm gonna go uh over one more to navigation now right now it's just showing a compass but if you had the navigation running and a plot uh course plotted your turn by turn would show up here all right i'm gonna go over one more uh there's no phone connected but if there was uh this is where you have access to all your phone stuff right on your driver screen and now here comes the kind of cool part so under options here display layout so we'll click on here you can have this view which is called classic we can go to progressive okay you can go to digital kind of like all the little graphic lines running around and you can have clean and clean is going to try to get rid of a bunch of information eventually that little menu on the right would disappear i'm gonna leave it on classic for now okay i'm gonna hit the back arrow because there's more that we can do now let's take a look at just a lesson and you notice how it highlighted the left side i love that you can have it showing the compass time and temperature tire pressure and i love it that when you scroll through it actually shows you what it is and then whatever you want okay anything and you can have none okay um you can just go ahead and click and now that's what's going to stay there i'm going to hit the back arrow now we'll adjust the right side again you can see it kind of highlighting the right side so it has all the same choices on the right side cup is time and temperature tire pressure fuel economy average transmission fluid temperature none but you do have the addition of the driving mode enhanced so you get the graphic there i'm going to leave that one i i like that one ah now lower gauges you see it highlights the bottom of the screen so here i go so then in addition to your engine temperature and your fuel gauge you've also got a battery gauge and an oil gauge um let's see let's go to medium which is where we were and then if you don't want all that information to show you can make it minimum and now you get just your gear selector your uh fuel tank and your range and then your your uh odometer on the left so it kind of simplifies it okay i i like this maximum view i'm gonna leave it there now info page options do you remember that first page that we were on we had all those pages this is just another place to go to it and the thing is this used to be the only place you could adjust that which is why i made the comment earlier that it's really nice that in the information page screen you can adjust it right from there so that that's just that that's why i made that comment all right so now under here you've also got you can change your units from us to metric you can set up a speed warning if you want now if you enable that you get to select the speed that you want a warning at okay and yeah wow it it lets you really crank it up so pretty much anything you want to set it to all right i'm gonna go left and i'm gonna go left again uh speed sign display so you see uh see the little white icon with dashes at the very top of the center part of the screen next to the digital speedometer so that's gonna be your display so if i click on this i can have that on or i can turn that off and then it disappears okay hit the left button software info if you want to go into that reset to defaults in case everything gets wonky this will bring it back to the factory settings if i change my modes here you're going to see a little graphic over in the rpm gauge you can see that changing oh see that little where it runs on dirt runs on the pavement okay i kind of like it how it makes it look like it's driving on the road and you got a silverado right there i love that all right and so that is it for the driver's information screen uh and next we're gonna move over to the infotainment screen wow what what a beautiful improvement over the the previous infotainment systems this is uh first of all a 13.4 inch digital screen i mean it is just huge i i absolutely love it now there is a little storage here right above the screen um and of course you've got a bunch of buttons down here but everything uh in the infotainment screen easy to touch or voice activated or both all right so the basics all right we've got it's got am and fm radio sirius xm uh 360 l we've got wireless apple carplay wireless android auto bluetooth and then of course uh google built in which is a huge deal and then a google assistant and advanced voice command now it also has a 4g lte wi-fi hotspot so wow okay so let's talk about the screen basically all of these buttons on the left are gonna stay there but they are customizable okay so that's your google assistant that's your trailing that's your phone that's your navigation your media and this is your home button and you do have two screens of apps which we'll get through then over here you've got kind of a split screen where you can scroll through you've got here you've got a clock a trailer status you got your media and then google maps okay so um what we're gonna do is uh first of all um the the google assistant is great now you can click here but you don't need to do that you should just be able to say hey google play fm 101.9 okay here's fm 101.9 now the interesting thing is it doesn't actually pull it up but if i hit audio there it is so it's playing it it's just behind the scenes it didn't actually need to flip to the radio we also have the volume of course turned all the way down because of copyright issues but it's this was this you know it did switch and in the background had i had the volume up it would have been playing you'll notice that one of the dots disappeared out of the side screen and that's because we have media showing up here and so it took it out of there uh let me go back to the home screen here man i told you that uh this was customizable so let's say i would want the camera button over here instead of trailering i can just take this and put it over there so any one of these are customizable in there now i can also take this and put it over here and rearrange that order okay so that is really awesome all right uh let's take a look at the different apps in here so first of all um let's go back to audio for a minute because there's one couple things i want to show you first of all just you know tuning it'll scan to the next station hey if i go here now i can enter a station okay and then of course i can click on my favorites here how do i make a favorite well i just find a radio station click and hold and it sets it now i can override something too and you'll notice that it has not only fm but also sirius xm and it would also have am radio so it makes it takes all those um uh favorites and puts them together which i think is really really cool all right uh if you want to select your sources you're going to click up here and here you have all your sources now to adjust sound you're going to click up here and then you have equalizer just click and drag and fading balance right here again click and drag and then if you hit reset it'll go back to the middle and manage favorites so you can take a look at a favorite and say well i don't want that one i'm going to trash it and it will disappear uh and then radio text or that's like traffic information that comes across radio you can have that on with the check mark or off okay i'm gonna go backwards because that's how you adjust the sound so now let's go back up here and let's go to am radio you're going to see that it looks identical so everything's going to work the same way that i just showed you and if i go up here and i go to siriusxm all right so if i go to siriusxm then you're going to have the ability just to scroll through here very easy very fluid gosh you got your tune button right here again if you want to actually type in a station and again you can just go by um the buttons there if you want okay and then you can click on your favorites the additional buttons of course use is you get the the play and pause button you get skipped backwards and then you can skip forwards and eventually it'll say this is what's currently playing and so it's called live and then your settings are up there now you do have under here uh the the settings and you can change those up there you can subscribe because this of course would be a demo when you got it and then you can do a few more things but that's just really cool so that's how you say a tune that's how you save a favorite that's how you scroll through their favorites how you delete a favorite all right let's go back to home for a minute uh i'm not gonna press the google assistant because this is you know we already demonstrated how that works if you do all it does is bring up the same thing cancel all right so uh let's take a look at maps i could click on it but i'm just gonna say hey google take me to the closest home depot sure the home depot okay and there we go head west toward rain tree road now if you can see on the stream here and i'll move it down a little bit but you have your turn by turn directions coming up in that window as well okay so you notice i just did voice command i didn't have to push a button i just started out with hey google and then told her what to do now you also notice that i kind of paused between when i said the phrase and what i wanted to do but you don't need to it's intuitive and it's a system that learns so as you go and you plot more courses and it kind of figures out what your favorite things are it may be it may do things like if you always listen to a certain uh siriusxm channel on the way to work it's going to bring that up as a suggestion for you the google system is fairly intuitive so let me demonstrate here so the temperature currently is 76. okay hey google turn down the temperature got it turning down the temperature so it turned it down four degrees hey google turn down the temperature a lot all right turning down the temperature now turn it down 10 degrees so you can do that up or down but if you say the word a lot it's going to go by 10 if you say it you just tell it to turn it up it'll go in increments of four which i think is pretty cool okay cameras oh boy okay this so we have got some great cameras um this this um particular vehicle does not have the 360 system on it but if it did oh man you have got like a million and six choices down here uh okay this one i just took the the uh these are dynamic swivel guidelines okay and i and i don't remember off the top my head but these markings like the red and then the oranges they are actually a certain amount of feet um i want to say that the first one is is is about six inches and the rest of them are about three feet apart but you know look them up in in the manual and you can see then when you're backing up exactly how close you are to something which is phenomenal now i do have a a trailer view so i can have a line up with my hitch and then i can actually shine down right at the hitch and that is terrifically helpful both this one and this one when you're backing up to a trailer but absolutely phenomenal i love how it takes up uh just about the whole screen there's a little bit left here it doesn't use but that is a really nice picture okay that's the cameras now because this has google built in of course you can go to the play store why not so i'm not going to sign in here uh but uh when you do and if you went to the app store you're gonna find a whole bunch of apps that are specifically designed for this system so you're not gonna see the entire app store um as time goes there's gonna be more and more and more apps that um you'll be able to download and there are quite a few already just uh not as many as you would expect like it's not the full store it's just the the apps that will work on this vehicle which makes sense so that will continue to grow let's go back to home again all right uh we'll skip android auto and apple carplay for now climate now you've got physical buttons for everything down below the infotainment screen but if you want you can click up here and do it digitally okay you want to see the nice little graphic about where the wind is blowing okay uh you can increase the temperature here decrease to here power on or off right but everything is down here including the sync button so way to go chevy putting the sync button physically in there then of course you have your your you have your heated seats now you do have the possibility of heating both the bottom and the back or just the back okay let's go back to home for a minute okay settings let's go through that this is where you can make a lot of the little changes down here under vehicle you've got a bunch of options teen driver that'll do all sorts of cool things it'll geofence so it'll send you a alert if the driver goes outside of that area you can limit things like volume on the stereo and so forth um you can also click on buckle the drive now if that's check marked you cannot put you you cannot put it in gear and go i'll until your seat belts buckle now you can turn that feature off if that annoys you but that's right there collision and detection systems okay so right here alert automatic emergency braking you can choose between alert and brake just alert and off i'd recommend leaving alert and brake on and then front protest front pedestrian braking again alert and brake alert or off and again i'd suggest leaving that there it it just it helps since you know if there's an option in front of you it tries to help you stop lighting okay vehicle locator lights when you hit remote lock on lock the the blinkers flash you can turn those off right there if you don't want that to happen exit lighting if you get out of the vehicle and you need the headlights to stay on for a little bit till you get to the door you can set that from 30 seconds to 120 seconds or if you click off as soon as you turn the vehicle off the lights will the headlights will go off go back twice here power door locks every car has a an adjustment here so this one here is going to be either all the doors uh or just the driver's door when you put it in the park okay so do you want all the doors to unlock when you put in a park or just the driver's door or you want that feature off and you want to manually hit the button so under delayed door lock what this is going to do is if it's on and you hit the lock button and you get out and you close your door it's not going to automatically lock the car right away so you're like oh shoot i forgot yep you can just open the door and still be open so it's just delayed and then it's gonna lock now if you hit the switch a second time okay and these aren't the interior switches lock and unlock uh it'll lock it right away and then remote lock and unlock you've got lots of different settings here i won't go through all of them but there are quite a few uh one of the things i like is remote left and vehicle alert it'll chirp at you you can turn that off if you want but i'd leave it on um remote remove from vehicle you can have the same thing right there but these are all basic just click and you can turn them on or off you can have that remote window operation if you want okay let's go back down here now uh date and time you can go here and you can set it but you can also just click on the clock and it brings up the same thing okay um display okay i can the if it's an auto mode um it's gonna be a little brighter during the day a little darker at night but you can say i want day mode or i want night mode and then it will stay there all the time okay you can turn the display off and then it gives you this outside temperature time and date click on the screen and it comes back up right now under sounds okay maximum volume at startup so um this one has to do with your audio so you can set it so that when you get in the car and start it up the radio automatically turns on and the volume is turned up if you don't like that then you can just take the volume and turn it all the way down that way when you start it up even though your radio's on no volume comes up and then you can just turn it uh yourself using the steering wheel controls okay audible touch feedback you can i don't know if you can hear that little clicking you probably can't but if i turn that off now when i click on this i don't get that little pop up sound all right we'll go back so users down here you can set up of course a profile here we're set up as a guest today but if you can set up you can set up your phone you can program a key fob and then when you get in it's going to remember you know your your driver's seat position uh if you have a power tilt and telescope which this one doesn't it'll do that it'll remember all your favorites all that kind of stuff okay uh under updates here you can check for it and you can look at preferences and then you can say download updates in the background or download updates via wi-fi when available so that means you can pull your car next to your how your truck next to your house hook it up to the to the house's wi-fi and download from there so then you know it's not go coming off of this data all right let's go back under google services on this device our google assistants okay and send feedback so under google assistants um you can choose a language free assistant you can use this phrase to use the hey google phrase or you can turn that part off okay so a few settings you can make now you can also control your home your smart home devices from here as well uh through the through the google system okay so that's settings let's go back home again you can set up the wi-fi hotspot here if you want you can share data with connected devices you can see your password uh under the my chevrolet you can schedule service look at uh your wi-fi plans and you can also shop okay when you and when you hit shop now it's okay this is in demo mode it's not the app store uh it's a little different but those three options are available there okay let me go back here and because this is uh google built in you have google news and then you can search for podcasts right here okay so you can you would you would want to sign in for these sign in to google for those and then you could then open up your google news and the podcast that you want okay so let's go back to home a minute this does have wireless apple carplay wireless android auto so i i absolutely love this 13.4 inch screen uh it makes all the icons and the words so much bigger which i think is awesome now uh basically these are your most commonly used apps so let's just take a minute and talk about siri versus google assistant and so forth so um if you're an apple carplay you can activate and you have an iphone you can activate siri just by voice like hey siri alright so you can do that and you can also push and hold on the voice command button but you can do it through voice and then you can tell siri to do things like send a text message to somebody or open up it to you know anything you use siri to do you can do it here okay however if you're not connected via apple carplay but you are connected via bluetooth you can use the car's google assistant to send a message on your iphone so if connected via apple carplay you're gonna have to use siri if you're not connected via apple carplay but you are connected via bluetooth and you're just that's the only method you're using then you can use the google assistant to do things but phenomenal uh phenomenal app way better than bluetooth okay in prior systems if you hit the whatever vehicle you were in if you were an apple carplay you would hit the name of the vehicle and it would take you back to that car system doesn't do that here it actually wants to take you to the to the chevrolet app so what you need to do instead is press the home button and that takes you right back up uh other than that let me just mention you do have a physical power button you have a physical volume nut and you do have a physical home button just down below this home button on the screen right here i should also mention that you know unless you want to download an app or really customize something you don't actually have to have a google account to use a lot of the features on the system okay chevy says if you log in you're going to have a lot more ability to personalize things and customize things but you can do all the basics without even logging in that's it for the infotainment screen this beautiful 13.4 inch screen and the 12.3 inch digital drivers information screen on the 2022 chevy silverado 1500 and again this is the lt trim level all right i hope this has been helpful thanks for watching you
