it is a warm sunny day at the 49ers new stadium as we get set for AFC NFC matchup Kansas City and San Francisco coming up here on CBS ello friends Jim Nantz along with the Super Bowl MVP quarterback six or seven running right into the heart of that 49er defense with Justin Smith and Patrick Willis Charles coming off big numbers on Monday night and that explosive victory put up by the Chiefs over words where you just go out there in one basic place now they're more creative moving to quarterback lots of formations and it's tough to really zero in on anything that they're doing now Davis is the running back now he's had back-to-back 100-yard rushing game on the right side he's got a gain of three but back to Alex's descent year out of the University of Utah it all started here number one overall selection and oh five five forty niners and he went through a whole slew of coaches and coordinators 20 days nineteen five and one the last two years and now in his second season in Kansas City again as I mentioned he's been razor-sharp the last two weeks well he thought he was the man here in San Francisco that was taken away from him by Colin Kaepernick the way he played but make no doubt about it he's the man in charge in Kansas City in the leader of the team and here is hooking up again with Hemingway who's hammered down at the 22 in another first down gain of 17 this offense really fits what he does very well puts a lot of pressure on the quarterback watch his eyes to the left turns and finds the wide open receiver over the middle when a quarterback looks at the second receiver like he did that time remember when he looks left what happens everybody moves that way and that's why Hemingway was wide open over the middle Kaepernick just waiting to get his turn his opening drive for the Chiefs managed any points on their first possession of the season in any of the games up to this point but they're threatening here with the first flag while Coleman our referee neutral zone infractions number 65 defense five-yard penalty still first down until Jim Harbaugh became the head coach here Alex Smith went through three head coaches total one interim head coach and a new offensive coordinator every year until Jim got here well he had great success under Jim Harbaugh the record speaks for itself but also how about his match with Andy Reid it's almost like Sean Payton and Drew Brees they are perfect for each other in their talent and the system here at Western hence the pass play the Fasano downs at the five well you've run the ball couple times it looks pretty good it's a good time to do it the nice fake inside the brawl in the middle that's a play that two years ago Colin keflavik would run about six times a game and have success with don't see it that off from Kansas City's offense but he was wide open that ball was fumbled around a bit but he recovered it the sanno did his third catch on this Drive goes for 12 San Francisco defense they play a lot of zone they sit back they rely on coming up and making tackles right away to keep you from getting those extra yards off the Anthony Thomas in the back first and goal and Smith with a couple of they got everything but with Alden Smith not in their gym that that premiere pass rusher they can't get to the quarterback fast enough and when you have that kind of time too much pressure on the defensive backs Vic Fangio the defensive coordinator he's upstairs and he's looking down at his defense trying to make something happen here on Kansas City's first stop inside of the - well that's his Jim Harbaugh said that was the kingpin of the defense that's Patrick Willis what a job just coming up inside and he takes on the full by Anthony Sherman and stops him took note for a linebacker to do this to stop the fullback in his tracks wants to pull by 42 Willis hits and just clogs it up and gives no extra yards there that is a linebacker enhances bullets that can do everything never comes off in but these wide receivers I think they have some chances when you look at what they can do Stevie Johnson can make those kind of moves Brandon to Lincoln to it we saw Brandon Lloyd two years ago Jim up and New England get open many times with dozen moves down the field for Tom Brady they caught 70 some-odd balls last time he played he set out all of last year after a short pickup going to taken well they're good receivers line them up together but short yardage catches and then how about that three tight ends throw the screen outside so you have two good lead blockers really well-designed second and the bottom foot so they're gonna try and go to the big play made the catch over the shoulder if Alex Smith had a little more time to get team Bo just an extra second he's going to hit him down the field that's going to be a touchdown but it looked like quick pressure and it's inside that time it was draw Teddy they got there he's by the corner Cox put the football as he turns there it
