113 receptions last year to lead the NFL that was only his 44th reception or deep into the season and I think he's frustrated I think a lot of players of the frustrate now they've had changes the quarterback position because of the injuries to RG three cousins came in he struggle a little bit we had to go to Colt McCoy that certainly affects the timing and the rhythms in the passing game for daring these young quarterbacks to throw the football San Francisco has had a lot more success throwing the football in the first half both teams those struggling running the ball I'm not surprised to see that nearly that exactly let's take a look now at some of the numbers with a look at Robert Griffin the third who was so much the focus going into this game from a perspective now you look at that just neither teams had success running the football but what the 49ers have done a good job of is throw the football on the early downs and they've thrown majority of those 151 yards have been shots from Colin Kaepernick Anquan Boldin and to Crabtree down the field on first down that they're gonna continue to play eight-man front football you've got to be able to throw it on the early downs you may recall the Niners won the toss they deferred so San Francisco will retrieve the kickoff to begin the second half I couldn't tell him the going out of the first half comments of Jay Gruden if he was all that in amber with Robert Griffin well I don't think he was pleased with the start given the first couple series actually the first four series four straight pumps but after that he seemed to settle in that one possession 10 plays 61 yards where he was four for it and kind of got him going and kind of got his confidence felt like he didn't seem to me he was more in rhythm throwing the football San Francisco six in four one two straight after losing two in a row the kickoff and Carlos I'm ill bring it out for the 90s hit by Meriweather and ushered out a bow near the 25 27 yard return scott kept the news on our sideline Kevin I walked from the locker room with a very intense Jim Harbaugh to the field he said this first possession is critical his team plans to go for the second-half touchdown Kevin a second half has been a struggle for the 49ers offense just 63 second half points which is the fewest and even more of a concern are the issues late games in the third quarter just 26 fourth quarter points which is the fewest in football as well now we'll go to the air and look in deep and it is petcock dropped Clark will come the other way but it looked like the defense of Freeland it was well positioned as they went for Stevie Johnson the former Buffalo Bill this is a terrific play by Breeland he just out jump Stevie Johnson he's just not able to quite hold on to it as he goes to the ground has a terrific job by Stevie James you're on watch Stevie Johnson at the end here he's still fighting for it it's on the on the on the stomach well then it comes out but it's a good effort by Stevie Johnson making sure that if he doesn't get it nobody gets it out of play some defensive back sometimes if you're a receiver third and seven run for trying to block out Robinson doesnot off balance with a falling tight end Davis it's incomplete from camper Nick and Clarke was there in the vicinity and it's a three and out and the skins hold with Jimenez will doing a nice job defensively they're freeing out for San Francisco well that's what you want right nice start there by jim has up his unit actually been playing pretty well can you hold the 49ers to 10th speeds up and sometimes rg3 resorts back to some old habits and you know he looks good and practice you got to the game the game speed much different he got away with some things early in his career but not so much anymore think defenses are doing a much better job setting the edge and forcing him to step up and function in the pocket as he has all day Donte Johnson described as an extra gotten no I mean you got to know where he's gonna be what he's gonna do and but both of these quarterbacks day whether it's Kaepernick or rg3 you'd better bring your track shoes and you have to be very disciplined with your rush because all they need is a small crease and just they can practice both these defenses to you running quarterback they do they see quarterbacks that have the ability to the offseason sitting in a room with deep sets of coordinator Jim Haslett and talking about the history of this offense of course Colt McCoy was a quarterback for the 49ers last year and he went through what all the checks were with all the audibles were with other the hand signals were so he has shared that information obviously with his defensive football team now we just saw Porter he's going to the locker room they relaunched they put him on the right side this time third and one the push shove descendant in time that was like the first stuff conferred in wine extra bodies were in their hands light is doing a nice job with this defense today watch the center Marcus Martin watch how high he gets after the snap we talked about lopat level he gets pushed right into the back right
