the National Football League mostly cloudy 49 degrees at Paul Brown Stadium here in Cincinnati if John Fox and the Broncos win they clinch a five alive for the number one seed in the AFC playoffs they're already in Marvin Lewis and Cincinnati get into the playoffs if they win tonight they can win the division only with a win next week at Pittsburgh if the Bengals win not only do they get in but New England clinches the number one seed in the AFC plus one by Denver defer to the second half so the leading kickoff return man in the NFL Adam Jones set to bring it back Brandon McManus set to kick it off for Denver final act of week 16 17 games left to the playoff and I think one here in Cincinnati Jones won't bring it back as with most big madness kickoffs it's a touchdown Andy Dalton's been here in Cincinnati since the Bengals took him in the second round in 2011 every year he's been in he's taken his team to the playoffs John trying to do it again and get win 40 of his career yes and under offensive coordinator Hugh Jackson this is a run first offense and it's important they have such success running the football Eric Winston at right tackle has only been here for ten days Green is alright but it's this Denver defense Mike that has made a huge impact that'll be an interesting one John because as he catches it the ball the nose of the ball hits the ground and then moves if you can keep firm control underneath with the hand there and it doesn't move then they were keeping an ear since they can touch the ground as long as you have control meantime does major concern about greens with the ward head it's a turnover and a score automatically being reviewed ruled the touchdown on the field bill vinovich has just completed his look in consultation with the gameday central league office in new york it stands it when the tip of the ball hits the ground and it moves the question is the control does he maintain the control with his hand with pressure on the ball to the sidelines yet with all offensive coordinator Adam GaSe hit take a look at some of the deployments that the Bengals have shown him on the first do series a lot of movement a lot of disguises and lead they have to stop again all these disguises on both names are fooling both quarterbacks and the Denver defense in that boat as well DeMarcus Ware is a pass rush situation he and von Miller off of and you got to be careful with this pass run kidnap his hands quick it's Bernard again game tracked and chased down by Chris Harris jr. the Broncos just gave him five years and 42 million dollars he's gone from undrafted player to excellent corner for Denver well Cincinnati is going to have to do more than throw screen passes that's the fourth screen in the first quarter you're gonna see Bernard slide across the formation and Denver does an excellent job rallying for the screening back Harris Roby's collision tackle here to burr step was high last time this time good pass back to the plays misdirection runs a lot of different types of plays in this Bronco running game and they're using six offensive lineman baton and he's got to be careful what audibles he gets to with an extra then they have the explosive open formation runs for Giovanni Bernard hard to defend nard comes out wide third and six Dalton again plus he's five Miller just it gets rid of it and will keep alive the chance for go-ahead field goal pressured by von Miller shut down third down von Miller his signature is his effort here he is working a spin move against Eric Winston nice finish by von Miller and here's Nugent he's hit his last 11 straight it's that potential game-winning field goal the end of the game gets Carolina that forced the tie that both teams have as of missense as you said this from about this field goal with the timeout Barth has made a lot of close-range field goals Mike this Bronco offense has struggled in the red zone and he's hit a number of mid-range field goals let's see for a rhythm it is a Bengals lead here at the break 3rd quarter set to start Mike Tirico Jon Gruden and our Zales extraordinary moments very extraordinary but Cincinnati is confusing Bateman here's a double a gap blitz look then they stem out of it they show three Blitzers on the right then they shift out of that and they bring two rushers on the left coverage changes front changes confusing the track goes there Peyton Manning audibles to a quick screen to his right and as soon as Reggie melson hears and sees the signal he brings his Bengals to the quick screen and they reject that play so Cincinnati has read some of the hand signals they disguise fronts and coverages they have confused Peyton Manning in his Bronco offense John you talked about the different looks of five or six defensive backs when they've been in four DB looks it's been more effective for the Denver offense but the Bengals defense allowing under three yards when they're playing five DBS and when they're playing six that was part of the game plan and right now it's working because John to get pressure on Manning when they're in those 6 DB loops in Denver's offensive lines got a block better and Cincinnati's got to continue to mix up the looks they played a number of different kinds of zone coverages and they've used flinches as well second half underway Newton picks first return opportunity for Omar Bolden got a big opening folded 40 midfield Bolden 40 30 down the sideline and brought down inside the 25 yard line that's one way that creates some emotion on your sideline Omar Portland's a reserve cornerback yet does this ball at the numbers starts to cross the field and he hits it he outruns Dre Kirkpatrick he gets the corner and here's Denver in the red zone mutant and Shawn Williams the kicker in the backup safety pursued Williams was the one who would look injured he has come across the field under his own power but what a chance was Denver to get right back in this game after not your everyday route runner what a beautiful double move he's going to break sharp to the post back to the corner and then he broke back to the outside I've not seen that route run ever every week they have a game plan specialty pattern for Demaryius Thomas and for a six-foot four wide out he has a huge inventory of patterns bursting goaltender at the two - Thomas again trying to pay it off at the pylon covered by Terrence Neumann is still going strong with his 12th year in the league that's just a high point fade this is an area where Denver has really struggled in a tight red zone usually Demaryius Thomas brings that ball down but San Diego rejected Denver twice last week inside the 5-yard line and they continue to use these open formations with multiple receivers sometimes they just don't have enough blockers Mike three receivers again [Applause] second goal fake to Anderson over the top - Chavez interfered with you she call on Terrence Newman it'll be first and goal - what what I want coverage and Peyton Manning is gonna find his favorite target who has a size advantage against anybody he plays against that time just the simple slant route Newman clearly interferes but pass protectors and that's a huge momentum shift for this Denver Bronco football team the point tacked on by counterpart Omar Bolden 77 yard kickoff return with Anderson in place for the school sent and John they're really missing Brandon Marshall and Danny Trevathan those linebackers zone replays big openings trying to trail these running backs those injuries are really crushing the Denver a lot of seasons and John Fox knows that and so is Peyton Manning so this Denver team wants to take care of walking down that bicaz Peyton made the great point to me last night you win this game
