on September 9th my dad and I went to a horse auction we found this little guy being picked on and kicked and bitten by two other males this auction is notorious for sending horses to slaughter and every horse there was in terrible condition he was in good shape compared to the other horses he is incredibly fearful of people and especially men and he was covered in cuts and scars and had some pretty bad respiratory infections right when we loaded him up on the trailer he started eating hay and then when we got him home he drank a lot of water because he was severely dehydrated it took only a few days to get him to warm up to me because I used alfalfa hay to lure him and then eventually I would put my hand out until he touched it [Music] [Music] the reason why we picked him out of all the other horses was that he could tell he was pretty young just based on his looks and he was the only was there that didn't have literal bones sticking out for her body his wounds started healing pretty quickly and he was getting comfortable with people he did have a pretty nasty biting habit so if you tried to touch him he would flinch and try and bite you or if you moved your hand they wear below his eye she would try and nip at you this is pretty much completely gone away now that he's castrated when teaching him to halt her he also came into an issue where he didn't like having his ears touched so I just rubbed the halter all over his face and then he got used to that [Music] after he was comfortable with a halter I started working with him on the lead rope and then started teaching him to tie after two weeks with us I cut off this huge dreadlock and evened up his name right before he was castrated we left him out into a bigger pasture this was his first session learning how to lunge the first month and a half we only worked on taking up his front feet as he would you strike out if you try to touch his back feet you picked up lunging and the different gait cues pretty quickly I started working with him on both sides leaving without a halter and then eventually lunging [Music] this was his first low Bubba lunch line [Music] J'Accuse transfer really well 200 [Music] as was him waking up after a castration when we were putting the ketamine into him he was still very fearful of men and so was running around in the little stall and ended up knocking over the bag [Music] and I lunched him with a bareback pad here and put tarps over him and use bags and flags and after I gained his trust he pretty much let me just do whatever I wanted to him he was still afraid of men but we started working on that as well as other people being around him and then we put him on the trailer and he got right on and then we worked on putting a coat on him [Music] our vet aged him at around 1 year old so we're not going to be doing any saddle training for a long time but I just after our one month with him I wanted to try something new so I tried to get on him [Music] the first time leading him onto the trailer he got on right away at this point his respiratory infection was mostly cleared up about two weeks post castration we introduced him to our horses from outside the fence we did this a few times before actually introducing them first time putting a coat on him was pretty uneventful he was scared at first but then settled down once he figured out he couldn't get off he introduced him to our pony and everything went really well and then we introduced him to our appendix mayor and she was very excited to see him then he got introduced to our quarter horse and we did this when they were all together we did work with him getting comfortable with men and multiple people being around him his biting habit has completely gone away and he's very sweet now and enjoys cuddles he's not really nervous of anything anymore he's very confident [Music] in two months he went from being completely feral and terrified of people to loving people and coming up to you and asking to pet him [Music] [Music] now he has turned out 24/7 with our mayor's and he's become such a sweet little guy every time anyone goes out to the fence he'll dicker in come CS the first month that we had him we were throwing names around and just calling him a different thing every day but one nickname stuck and we ended up choosing that which is bubby and we call him bubbles and mr. Bub's and mr. tubby and he's gotten very round and happy and he loves eating and being cute and the other mayor's hate him or they tolerate him and our little ponies finally has someone because she can boss around and she bites him a lot [Music] you [Music] [Music] you
