sticky-fingers 7:45 a fellow ration reviewer and good friend awesome dude set me a british operational ration pack 24-hour ration menu G from 1997 I've been looking for this specific one for literally 12 years and this one here has actually been open already doesn't matter everything's in there including the Duncans of Scotland chocolate and that really weird Primula cheese that has been discontinued let's check this thing out thanks again sticky fingers we'll set for sending me the saying dude like super awesome cut I mean I'm going to loss her words Junkins of Scotland boiled sweet cream of tomato soup add 300 milliliters of water here's a neat one Kleenex for men tissues weird huh pretty unique when how many of those are still floating around or maybe they're still sold in the UK here's something I can smell through the Oh God you can smell it through the box Pramila original cheese spread it look at Li the hole oh that's gonna be fun this gets brown - ass we'll see if those are still good biscuits fruit - ass those like some of the best crackers ever there's something now really block you up oatmeal block that's right and that's pretty much what it's for from what I've read keep you from you know anyway yeah the largest accessory packet known to man I mean this thing it's like it weighs like up hounds alright look at how the old entrees were packed in this outer sleeve this Oh meatballs and pasta March 1997 another one chicken and herb dumplings mmm January 27th 1987 and here is something that you gotta love these chocolate pudding December 3rd 1987 oh yeah so let's check the sing out get it out on the tray I'm actually going to start with breakfast it's quite a bit of stuff right there let's see what's in this accessory package oh yeah lemon powder I'll put that stuff strong says you got to mix it in a liter of water a bunch of 10 gram sugar packets one two three four five six seven so far at least sugar packets aqua tabs here's a good look at the sugar packet you get two instant coffees hard to read on that oil packaging to you beverage whiteners yes for your coffee now here's something that's really nice well the beef stock feels like it might have been a little compromised no big deal but here's something that all these look good check it out instant white tea packed November 1996 real nice definitely going to treat myself to some of that right about now a look at the drinking chocolate mix of the contents to 568 millilitres one pint of hot water and stir briskly ah so you get eight sugar packets total there's the eighth and then NATO matches you want to save those for a rainy day literally here's something cool Wrigley's PK peppermint gum I'm going to start with what I would consider breakfast we're going to get that out on a tray well this looks like a nice little breakfast got the fruit biscuits the oatmeal block the cream it's made of beef stock three packs of sugar some white tea coffee and of course it dumplings milk chocolate and some boiled sweets let's get it out on a tray and I got myself a nice modern British operational ration pack spoon because the guild ones here didn't have any spoon start with instant white tea is like literally creamer mixed with an instant tea smells pretty strong smells nice I'm already like that and the coffee oh and that looks perfect that'll be good for 12 ounces my guess coat meal block that looks fine we're going to put the creamer in that coffee looks nice check out those fruit biscuits yeah this'll be nice here hopefully all they smell and they look fine that's that nice cinnamon smell and you can smell the dried fruit it's like almost like dry cranberry or something actually still smells good there's a nice creamy tomato kind of smell to it I can't wait till I can add the water and see how that's going cut them out in there geez when will it end and the beef stock which doesn't feel good anymore something something to happen with this but I might be wrong you never know till you check well me it actually looks like it might be okay I don't know the smell pretty strong but beef stock naturally smells strong it's you know that's a concentrate so we'll see here's something I'm really looking forward to rum and raisin down to the Scotland only seen it in a couple low resolution photos through that 19 year old chocolate looking perfect hey you yeah oh gosh look at that how is that even possible there's nothing to indicate its age at all it does not look gold I mean there's that slight splotchiness but that's the raisin in it Junkins of Scotland right sugar add one to the tea then let's check out the old school mixed fruit flavor boiled sweets any different from our ones oh yes and look at that they wrapped in a strange parchment paper cool and there are 11 boiled sweets let's start out in some hot water these things there we go I'm already picking up all sorts of aromas mainly the beef stock it's strong off that's interesting you know I'm pick it now I'm picking up a tomato bisque smell that is just creamy and seems like it might be really good yeah got some clumps into it let's check out these soiled sweets - oh gosh the notorious old school green anybody ever see Bravo two zero green is like the lawn nobody likes oh thanks orange thank you sticky finger 745 470 the same dude this is and you guys have no idea looking for a ration for 12 years well you might have an idea by looking for something that you've been looking for for years this is just amazing these are not easy to find grape mix up that bisque one one more go and while we do let's try out a fruit biscuit do that thing oh that's fantastic I taste cinnamon I taste a little bit of nutmeg tastes like a little bit of raisin and some cranberry maybe maybe even cherry like a plethora of fruit undertones I was amazing I'm gonna eat those it's fall up with some nice white tea oh that's perfect you'll want to add only maybe eight to ten ounces per pack it's smooth and that coffee smells nutty I like that I mean it's just quality oh my gosh all right let's try out that oatmeal block yeah it looks good yeah let's check this out hmm that's still perfectly good what's really wholesome lightly sweet wholesome kind of way about it it's a lot like a digestive biscuit you know if you've ever had a british type digestive biscuit so yeah stir out the chocolate you'll actually that stuff what a gem yeah here oh wow what are that amazing it looks perfect for 19 years old mmm that's the best chocolate ever had in my life I'm not kidding oh my gosh I have to find rum and raisin milk chocolate somewhere now there's one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life that is the best ration dessert I have ever had I am not exaggerating like I can't help myself I have to get another piece of that's real right now mmm this is your milk chocolate contains cocoa sauce 20 percent minimum milk solids 20 percent minimum so it's a nice light milk chocolate it's a silky smooth you can taste the rum undertones with da-rae's and this is amazing it has such a complex burst of flavor I'm never going to taste milk chocolate ever the same now I'm always going to be wishing I had another one of these it's literally everything and then some of what I expected from the rum raisin chocolate bar something I've looked for for years and it's not just the anticipation that makes it so good Hey look it just knows there's also a looks like lemon oiled sweet cool yeah oh look at that it is that looks nice let's put that up there too so the coffee is amazing the tea is really good chocolate pop oh my gosh hands down the best ration dessert I've ever had and now let's try out the tomato soup yeah look at that smells really nice and tangy creamy Oh it just smells like an amazing tomato bisque let's give it a shot that tastes perfect does not taste 19 years old none of this so far tastes that old it it's incredible tastes like a high quality tomato bisque soup it is probably the best dried ration soup I've ever had that's insane let's try out that beef stock nice dark tone to it strong stuff mmm oh this would be perfect on a cold day or rainy day perfectly fresh incredible oh my gosh so now let's try out the yellow look at that mmm nice lemon oil this is all natural or at least taste it I really like that makes all natural kind of flavor - makes your mouth water feel boiled sweets I think I like it more than the new ones they're certainly different mmm you can chew in dome easier try out the grape I also really like that but it tastes like artificial grape but not like something overly offensive it definitely has a nice way about it let's check this out kind of smells like tangerine mmm absolutely delicious orange tangerine a little tangy this tastes natural tastes like they use natural tangerine or oil acids to it just like a lemon let's check out the green the line so like I've got bad experience with the line okay inserted the British guys the British SAS in Bravo two zero so let's see if the old school Bravo two zero era green boiled sweets live up to its horrendous name hmm oh yeah hmm no this was actually pretty good but I do understand it is the least enjoyable of the four oh gosh you know what I got to try a s'more that's tomato bisque maybe there's something I might have missed on the description of flavor seemed relatively complex I mean it just tastes like a beautiful creamy tomato soup I mean I think I taste basil with it there there's something else going on there yeah there's been hazal a nice acidity to it without being overly acidic it's almost tangy breakfast yeah not bad at all I'm going to eat the rest of this this was awesome a real quick look at the gum and the NATO matches let's actually first start off with these NATO matches check that out that's one way to do it I guess it beats regular matches alright and with the Wrigley's pique you get four pieces let's try one of these out nice and tender you can pry it right in with there's more peppermint oil than regular Chiclets they're pretty strong definitely good stuff made with real sugar there's nothing chalky about it that's some of the best gum you can get in the military ration four pieces that's not too bad you know it's not perfect or anything give one piece for each meal and then one piece in the middle of day or whatever alright let's go to lunch cool now we got lunch going on here it's meatballs and pasta let's check that out I put in some boiling water you boil it for 7-8 minutes and here's the actual indicator of what you got going on there see do not remove this protective over pack until about to prepare for consumption see that put it in boiling water for 7 to 8 minutes Wesler Kreutz limited yeah United Kingdom cool stuff hmm smells ok uh yeah ooh not ace smells fine maybe a little metallic or something which isn't good I usually will see oh yeah there we go those meatballs they really don't skimp out that looks nice what do you think it looks pretty good for nineteen years old alright and here's something I'm not really looking forward to Primula original cheese spread with a hole with it huh why ok let's open this um yeah my trusty fork oh yeah oh I can smell it from here oh look at that thing look at it oh jeez oh let's poke at it with the fork just for fun you know like oh it's hard as a rock Oh like yeah not going to try that okay he couldn't pay me to try that well I guess you could pay me but look oh it just wafts out even worse air it's like it smells like terrible Bo you know what it kind of reminds me of us huh I don't even want to say it you know what some things are better off not being said in this case we're putting old Primula back in the box and we're gonna try to put that over there yeah so like lemon powder yeah here we go some lemon powder we're gonna pour this in here let's check this stuff out I'm sure it's just like a white powder it's probably not like yellow or something stupid like a lot of us stuff oh yeah necessary food coloring like why I don't know it just smells like some strong lemon powder kind of has a library smell to it though to like I can't explain it just smells like old books and lemon powder this is great all right so like there we go let's get that we'll let that kind of mix up while we check out this gets brown knee little classic I have this bad feeling that these aren't going to be so Swift I don't know again the biscuits fruit we're fine so why not right I mean if I can actually open the thing they look fine right nice old stack of biscuits Brown actually you know what that's not too bad hmm now let's dip it in this I have no idea what I'm doing now mmm here we go take some stale cracker and this is the way to go actually you know what let's try out a spoonful first get a new get a meatball that looks uh kind of has a slight chef buyer D look to it why hmm how the heck is that still good that's decent let's try with the old biscuits Brown do it right yeah here we go hmm um yeah I'll live yeah like um so let's go for the gold here has some key one thing I can say about these old paksas they really are missing the filled tear notch deal like what are they thinking with that actually while that's stirring up you know I really am wanting to go tangy oh yeah that's nice and strong that doesn't look too good now does it I mean this looks like the kind of thing you find on the side of the road you know exactly what's going on I mean like I know known around these here parts I see that quite often it's like a truck driver or something on a long drive anyway I don't know how long these old British operational ration pack entrees should last I read three to five years it's got meat fooled I'd say that thing was maybe a three year old Andre at the most does have a slightly metallic smell to it out of the pouch but I think that's because when you boil it he'll do that anyway plus I boiled it for probably 12 minutes to the eighth that doubt you're supposed to do that a big deal so this is lunch to your thumbs up and then for breakfast I give two thumbs up in this had a nice savory meatball and red sauce kind of deal I mean it just wasn't bad um this gets brown spoiled it's sad I mean like it's really sad because that's an amazing cracker it's like the best ration cracker we're at least up there with heart qex you know German I mind packing hard cakes and yeah you'd be hard-pressed to find a better biscuit the tea without sugar is just not as good alright but I usually don't put sugar in my tea but just tastes a little bland without it like it brings out flavor with the sugar and you really need to use the sugar you're out in the field you need many calories you can get use every calorie if you can do it Primula cheese it's a friggin miracle they took that out of those things they were terrible and some of the guys here on the comment boards mentioned that those things were recalled so you know what kind of makes sense well yeah so we're gonna move on to dinner cool all right now dinner is chicken and herb dumplings we got the chocolate pudding milk chocolate was raisin in cereal and drinking chocolate mix so several chocolate fest and of course some Kleenex for men tissues to clean up after this chocolaty mess so you're gonna need them let's check out that drinking chocolate mix for starters whoo it's look so good I mean like I can't even see it yet my baby knows really good at least I hope so any like give it a shot you offer literally every single little silver color tone packet I've had to use my teeth just to open the dang thing we can't just sit there and pry it open it's like oh it smells perfect perfect hot chocolate and let's put it into a nice mess cup look again a lot in there enough for a whole pint so that's nice and while we're stirring that up let's check out the dump mess alright let's hope it's not a mess up kind of ooh doesn't smell very good no no yeah check that out kinda reminds me of chicken ala King or something u.s. Emory chicken ala King but just like you know with dumplings instead you know those big old dumplings they're I mean they're huge yeah like um let's stir this up first it mixes easily it smells like MRE hot cocoa there might be some hydrogenated oils in there which help with preservation of the product I mean that's what hydrogenated oils trans fats all about long long shelf-life alright actually let's get this open real quick check out Duncan's this was pretty oxidized and it has a slightly off scent to it I'm going to eat it all anyway I don't care it's fine that's just oxidized chocolate that's normal and it smells fine here going for that first mmm oh yeah good stuff the cereals like a nice little mild amount of like oatmeal it's like an oatmeal raisin undertone to milk chocolate alright let's check this out let's go for a dumpling first that just looks so good yeah oh wow far past my expectations on flavor texture of that dumpling is just absolutely fantastic alright and a nice almost like a chicken pot pie kind of deal going on here mmm oh man that's actually really good for 19 years old you know what no one for more of this sure can go for a big bite the light gravy let's get a potato I don't even notice that in there tastes like an amazing dark meat chicken stew like a cross between chicken and dumplings and lega chicken pot pie with a nice white gravy that's creamy smooth not overly salty it doesn't taste metallic it's really really good stuff I mean this ration was very well preserved and we're going to follow it up with some more of this fantastic Duncans it's no longer made like this anymore hmmm the raisin silky smooth chocolate wash it down with hot chocolate I'm living the life of Riley this is great yeah man dinner two thumbs up sticky fingers seven four or five is the man hook me up with this thing this is like ration gold check out these napkins yeah why are these fur men like what's the difference saw huge like paper towel tissue it's not super strong let's check out this this should be good chocolate pudding December third 1997 oh my gosh look at that thing so like let's check this out look at that rich like chocolate mousse hmm that's like chocolate mousse that is a beautiful thing ration gold vintage British operational ration pack you can't go wrong this thing's amazing take out the Primula cheese spread nightmare and you got yourself one heck of a nice deal oh yeah this desert desert desert Taylor food this is Steve 1989 off MRE infocomm this is a British operational ration pack from 1997 pretty vintage nice nineteen year vintage to the thing I'm gonna go finish my dinner thanks so much for watching guys this has been a pleasure I hope you liked the review I know I enjoyed making it until next time hope you have a great day or evening whatever's the case and see you soon cool
