a beautiful Sunday afternoon the temperature is in the low 60s the humidity only 30% and the forecast calling for no chance of rain certainly different than last Friday when Hurricane Hugo tore through the Carolinas and Virginia with torrential rains and winds up to 135 miles an hour causing millions of dollars in property damage but somehow Martinsville Speedway escaped the wrath of Hurricane Hugo good afternoon everybody I'm Bob Jenkins and it's a beautiful sunny day now and we're set for racing here at Martinsville we did have some rain on Friday and a little bit of wind but absolutely no damage as a matter of fact on Friday afternoon the track was dry and they began to qualify it resulted in one of the most unusual qualifying sessions in recent Winston Cup history for more on that story let's go to the grid dr. Jerry punch well thank you very much Bob dick as you know Friday morning Hurricane Hugo didn't roll through Martinsville with its 55 mile-per-hour winds but the real story here was Friday afternoon when hurricane Hensley yes local short track ace Jimmy Hensley was called upon to qualify the Goodwrench Chevrolet Dale Earnhardt just merged the track in time to watch his car qualify a big smile on Earnhardt face as Jimmy Hensley had just turned the lap of near 92 miles per hour congratulating Hinsley her heart was extremely happy and that's right jimmy hensley is in the Busch clash but Dale Earnhardt will start the car from the pole today and what Hensley did Vinnie Parsons was give her and her a chance to stay atop the Winston Cup point standings Jerry punch I can't believe how lucky Dale Earnhardt is because there were eight drivers that were late get in here along with Earnhardt was Ken straighter rick wilson and lakes beat unable to qualify because of the storm there was four other drivers that were got very little practice Davey Allison Phil Parsons and Rusty Wallace Ricky Rudd Ricky Rudd is starting seventh that's the further stuff anyone is started of the eighth except Earnhardt and Jimmy Hensley qualified this car on the fold Ned Jarrett it's so important that this racetrack starting the front isn't it oh it's absolutely the place to be starting on the inside and then up front as well last week we told you how many positions each driver that's behind her and hearted the Winston Cup point standings had to gain in each race in order to win the Western kept championship well after Earnhardt won at Dover let's take a look at what they have to do now Rusty Wallace last week only had to gain two positions per race now he has to gain for Mark Martin who's third in the point standings last week only had to gain seven now he has to gain eight Darrell Waltrip only had to gain nine now he has to gain 14 and Bill Elliott with an impossible task last week had to gain 16 and we knew he couldn't do that well now he has to gain 21 points per position from here on out if he's going to win the championship well as we say this is a very tough racetrack and Rusty Wallace starting back in 20th place and dick Berggren that's not the place you want to start Ned Jarrett you're absolutely right of all the racetracks where a guy would rather not start in the back this is number one why because the turns are so tight when the leader goes in the first turn he's going to hit his brakes the guy behind him is going to have to use a little bit more brake guy behind him is going to have to use a little bit more brake too and by the time it gets to Rusty that's what's going to happen Rusty Wallace has got to avoid any sort of trouble here at Martinsville Speedway if he's to have any hopes of winning the championship starting in the back he's got a tall order to avoid any sort of trouble well dick while rusty has his work cut out for darrell waltrip won this race last year and he started from the 20th position we'll see how things go this afternoon as we are live in Martinsville the engines have been started down on the front stretch they're beginning to roll away for five warm-up laps during which they'll seat their brakes these five laps will not count and then they'll be getting the green flag for 500 laps of racing let's look at the race track it's point five to six miles in length the pole lap time was twenty point six oh two seconds and the speed ninety one point nine one three miles an hour race length is 500 laps of the fuel range about 150 laps thirty two cars and drivers are set to go and now here is the starting line up on the pole Dale Earnhardt from Kannapolis North Carolina the GM Goodwrench Chevrolet outside is Darrell Waltrip from Franklin Tennessee in the number 17 tie Chevrolet going to row number two it's Jeff Bodine from Shaboom New York he's driving the number five Levi Garrett Chevrolet and on the outside of row number 2 will be Sterling Marlin driving the number 94 Sunoco Oldsmobile sterling hails from Columbia Tennessee going to row number three it's rookie point contender Dick Trickle from Wisconsin Rapids Wisconsin the number 84 Miller High Life viewing and on his outside starting six will be Terry Labonte from Corpus Christi Texas in the number eleven but wiser for starting in seventh position inside row number four it's ricky rudd from Chesapeake Virginia in the number 26 Quaker State Buick he's flanked on the outside of row number four by Alan Kulwicki from Greenfield Wisconsin he drives the number seven Zarek's Eddie frees for in the fifth row will be Mark Martin currently third in Winston two points he's from Batesville Arkansas and drives this throw light for car number six outside of row number five will be Bill Elliott from Dawsonville Georgia he's driving the number nine course board starting in 11th position inside of row number six in the peak Pontiac car number 42 from Randleman North Carolina Kyle Petty and starting in 12th position another rookie contender from Spartanburg South Carolina number 16 Chattanooga to Buick is Larry Pearson in the seventh row will be car number two Ernie Irvan and 75 Morgan Shepherd the eighth row Michael Waltrip in car number 30 and Brett Bodine in 15 starting in row number nine and Stevie twenty-eight in Jimmy means in 52 the tenth row Gary Koch and Rusty Wallace in car number 27 fast a second a qualifier starting 21st was Ken Schrader he'll be alongside Rick Wilson the 12th row Greg Saxon Harry ganden as you look at the rest of the starting lineup you can see the cars here on the main straightaway getting their tires warmed up and there break seeded for 500 laps for a pre-race report let's go to dr. Jerry punch and you believe this baby Dale Earnhardt's weekend I mean when you're lucky you're lucky when you're hot you're hot take a look this is a wire they found sticking out of the left front tire just moments ago before they rolled the cars off and NASCAR allowed him to go over and change the left front tire it was going flat and they not been able to see this in fact rear tire changer wheel Lynn saw it the left front tire was going down they change a tire and the good race Cheryl aluminum will be back in the front to start the race what a pray for an arm up seeing things seem to be going his way that's the type of break that you need to win a Winston Cup championship and Dale Earnhardt can move one step closer this afternoon here in Martinsville you can see 71 races only ten have won from the again I'll tell you what's going on they're running five warm-up laps here and they're doing this to seek the brake spinning to get the brakes to be embedded in just a little bit because yesterday afternoon it brain you're the last Winston Cup practice the drivers will not able to do this NASCAR said okay we'll run five warm-up left inside the Quaker State bid with Britain off corners number two and and how close they are to each other we're in the middle of the corner because I tell you the groove at this racetrack is the same place if two cars go through there at Brest they need to litter the rubbish sheetmetal to do that now because of the unusual circumstance regarding the pole position that Jerry punch explained to you there's no unit count money that's available today it will be rolled over to next week and worth almost one hundred seventy five thousand specifically 174 eight and we got one more lap to go before the green flag Jeff Chandler from the Levi's Garrett Jeff bodean crew will be wearing our crow cam this afternoon he's the front tire changer on that car and we look for some good shots from him this afternoon cars now entering the backstretch the pace car has pulled off on the backs that's and it going green for five [Music] the straightaways handled the upper part of the turns and to go in to see they're still running on submit in the early part of the race the crowd is on its feet cheering as the great flag comes out and the goodies 500 is on to impress racing through the first and second quarters everybody through okay down the backstretch into turn number Darrell Waltrip is third Rusty Wallace in car number started in 20th position he's got the inside line that's where he means to he needs to be passing cars and moving up his foot [Music] Gary cope at number 10 just ahead Rick Wilson on the outside there to a fresh is no place with Rusty Wallace to go [Applause] [Music] look at the traffic this is from Harry [Music] number three [Music] showed us about the domino effect that is brakes being hit and you get hit from the front and the rear will look what happens to Rusty Wallace exactly that in the opening lap as he gets hit from the front and the rear and we have a car into the pits Geoff Bodine is scheduled pitstop here's Jerry punch well NASCAR is called bow dine in because a lot of smoke can davies-carr is well into the grassy area in turn number two and so far no caution he stuck with all the rain we've been here during the Hurricane Hugo come through the ground is softened Davey Allison is stuck in still no coffee and he's out of the racing for baby he's pretty far off the race group now the caution is coming out while hurricane damaged things here at Martinsville it certainly has created interesting situations last Friday with the qualifying and Davey Allison gets stuck because of all the rain here's a replay there Pearson then Kalpana get together going into turn one Davey house and I guess tried to stop looks like someone who Rusty Wallace just barely gets by that now here's the two shots of the Pitts the pace car goes by there's baby Alison sitting on the ends in the infield stuck unable to go anywhere and so the caution flag does come out over the Speedway for the first time this afternoon on the per tent ahead of Waldrop Sterling Marlin ricky rudd terry labonte Alan Kulwicki Mark Martin Bill Elliott Ernie Irvan Michael Waltrip Morgan Shepherd Jimmy means now the green flag indicates to the drivers that the pits are open the only one however taking advantage of the situation is Davey Allison now here's our split-screen and we're going to use this throughout the afternoon the left the front pits the right side of your screen their back pits and we should see a difference in the amount of activity there they won't hit this early only five laps into the race or ten laps in the race they won't pit but what happens is that the cars in the perfect if their work finished before the fellas in the back bids can even get so it's a for the 16 cars that's pitting on the front straightaway you can't see a couple of cars coming into their rear pits let's go to Jerry punch who can update us on the situation involving Davey Allison who's back out there there appear to be very minimal they have until the Hamilton Ford AVL's bid come in and take on all four tires and when he spun up there and give across the track apparently flat spotting and tires they didn't want to take any chances they may have cut a tires they brought him down and Robert Gates the crew chains all for today he had already lost at least a couple of laps the leaders and you know another ones sitting here in the mist getting those tires [Music] yes [Music] the time they had to replace an oil line in the front of the car and put some or all of the track-ready trace and he is certainly Batman Harold [Music] laughter 12 reports about balls [Music] [Music] those cars have been he did it on the outside coming off the turn for Waltrip got a good jump off of that turn went into turn one on the outside of Dale Earnhardt out braked him going into the turn and took the leap that laps down and Navy Alison is two laps down on the field baby Alison moving to the inside at break Saxon article 48 he's forced high on the racetrack in 33 alongside like brakes accent we go inside Wallace try move up through the traffic alongside of Jimmy me kyle petty also just ahead Rusty Wallace and Ken Schrader's just ahead let's go to Jerry punch who has a comment on Rusty Wallace but the fortunes that they learn are dead this weekend finding that piece of wire it is tired in support [Music] they found a pinhole to go into green so they had [Music] rusty has moved up my position since the green light terry labonte in number eleven this is the battle for sixth position Alan Kulwicki [Music] of a freak [Music] out the back glass of the ricky rudd car couple of a si guys instant competition doing very well another AAS a veteran Mark Martin is having his problems is dropped off the pace jesse has dropped down to the inside penny engine problem well I think all that tire I believe he has a flat tire because he came off turn for the last time the car was extremely squirrely the crews only [Music] boy he can lose a lap in a hurry those going at that kind of a speed around here now there we have second and third position in the Winston Cup point standings the number 27 car Rusty Wallace second and the number six car of Mark Martin is third mark finds himself 200 points leader Dale Earnhardt's going into this event while Rusty Wallace is 102 real Park decided to get back in line dick Berggren what might be the problem rule that says that one wheel has the Prairiewood be locked together and that's what gives them all a drive off the corner the ratchet is what locks them together when that ratchet is broken only one of the two rear wheels drive are very squirrely very fast and that is what's wrong with Mark Clark almost certainly take forever to fix it exactly right dick Berggren they cannot fix that problem in less than 15 20 minutes so all he can do is set up and ride around The Cure's itself darrell waltrip begins the lap some of the slower traffic putting a lap on Bobby Hillin in car number eight but there is Dale Earnhardt who is locked right into his back bumper first and second position here Walter bleeding is going for his third consecutive goodies 500 win and he had the last three out of five races here at the well after he passed Dale earnheardt Burkhardt has stayed right on his bumper so hard [Music] early in the race he wasn't going to take any chances inviting baby he wanted to using up more of his break so he said I'll just get along behind Darrell here and ride for a while the race so I'll just sit here and ride for a while battle going up here is another one as there are four he goes to tail the number 94 car driven by they are passing Hut Stricklin and putting a lap on him at the number 57 Pines in which the ricky rudd just amount of court and inside blessed are the Quakers debuting [Music] whole scheme here [Music] mile we have the top 15 at the end of 36 laps here at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia we'll be right back bill Elliot is in trouble what happened I think he blew a tire going into turn four he went up very high up next to the wall I don't think he hit the wall but I believe the right front tire is flat on the gorge forward he's got on the inside the track going into turn one he's got a long way to go to get back to his pits because he's hitting on the front side well he's killed you know there's no way in the world it's gonna take him a lefty at least a lap to get back to his pit and then probably a couple left to change a tire so a tough break from bill added at least two left and maybe three laps down the defending Winston Cup champion currently fifth in the points here's Jerry punch with a report on pit row his younger brother veil to come in and apparently they are signalling to their I'm trying to fix it here on pit road today we look to be more severe than actually maybe they have LoJack fitting the right side of the car they will make a four-tire change Bill Elliott hurry Elliott man Tommy Cole with all the crew now hazing Ernie has picked up that spreaded my for Bill Elliott and probably what happened many hearts the blow he probably blew melted the interview that's probably true here as we see Billa as he comes off turn four with the right ton front tire flat and we see it just ripping itself apart and as he comes off the corner Jerry punch once again on pit road with the tire antenna here looking this is the tire that came off the right front of the competition between Alan Kulwicki in car number seven and Dick Trickle in number 84 and Palicki waves the fourth position our in-car camera right behind Dick Trickle now there are a lot of cars and the number of the cars beginning to slide a little bit now is to come off of the turn so the track is getting a little bit it certainly is then as we watch Sterling Marlin Alan Kulwicki [Music] the golden window [Music] fifth and sixth meanwhile here is the laughs the number 48 Lag is out for the second time today I don't see anything on the right there must be some degree or something on the racetrack [Music] the pace car will enter the racetrack pulling out of the backstretch pits lap number 50 and second caution of the afternoon maybe some of that slipping and sliding was from some oil from the car number 51 of Butch pillar there we see the green flag down in the corner that signifies that the front pit is going to be open now we're going to show you what we're talking about here's the 16 cars that are pitting on the front they're all going to drive in but look at the back pit there's nobody there simply because the field hasn't reached that point exactly see they're working on the cars on the front they're changing tires put it meanwhile nothing's going on in the back and they're going to be finished before many of the cars even reach their pin on the backstretch okay now they just start coming into the pits in did you say most of the work post on the front have already got their work levy in fact Alan Kulwicki is going out of the pits right now he beats everybody out here Ernie Irvan they learn hard comes out third and the crews on the backstretch let's go to work on their cars see all the cars are leaving the front pits and they're just going to work in advance women in the back ribs are just going to work in this disadvantage you put it on the back trailer at mark half the waist and get back there is if you don't qualify you're not to talk the end at the let everyone come back in and pity one time so the first set of pit stops have been made here under caution because of debris on the racetrack on lap number 50 the pace car is on the racetrack in the is held by the number 7 car for working second now Bill Elliott is there between first and second position but the several laps down Jim Sauter has replaced Britt Wilson in the network but are still bothering them they'll learn hard gets on the inside of Bill Elliott but move over now mr. dat car 17 [Music] stop right side powers maybe and he got it [Music] here is Earnhardt trying to take the lead away from Alan Kulwicki and he does and he's off my car that's not the place to be brushed first the third just that quickly and you know commitment right of only take no to power big difference here so we're back where we were before we started they'll learn art leading then Darrell Waltrip in second place the wiki was able to get by in the exchange of pit stops [Music] tires that may explain why the car isn't sticking quite as well Waltrip will challenge earn art for the bleeding in and take it or at least yes he's going to do it the inside track favorite oh yeah alright he's getting out man bottom Darrell Waltrip has won 10 races at this particular track or in this fall race the other six of course the top of the screen races [Music] the urban gardener by Sterling Marlin you can see came in an eighth position and came out in second he has dropped to fourth however since that time what he's not running that better that [Music] they take long to adjust assured area practice yesterday in the car not let's go to dick Berggren with a comment on darrell waltrip Waltrip's ability to choose the right gear ratio for this racetrack he picks a gear ratio that if he were to keep his foot on the throttle down the straightaway he'd probably wring the guts right out of the engine at the end of that straightaway the gear ratio is six turn a whole lot more welcome that will become important later in the race other thing it does Oh coming out of the corner and he picked that thing up coming out of the corner and that's how he got my welcome to the spark one thing about having a good gear ratios you can't get off the corners quite a bit but let me show you what a problem may be for darrell waltrip take a look this is the tire that came off Walter for that career they're getting some shoulder separation what call him is putting the bill will burn their tires questions of the tide crew the car is so strong coming off the corner again it's so tight he actually is spinning the tire and separated forever having a problem here the tire lovin also having some problems so see we're starting to blister started separate these are the boats a rear tire left rear and right rear is there he come across from the asphalt on to the concrete they're going into turn one and the car will begin to shudder later all right thank you gentlemen down on the racetrack Dick Trickle a little bit sideways they're coming into turn number one as he received a little bit of brett bodine the number 30 car of michael waltrip as up to 14th position he was higher than that but has been dropping back in here is a replay and a shot from our side camp [Applause] Jericho just ahead of the bureau [Music] we talked about how close these cars run to the [Music] before they start going into those short order [Music] they wish that wall with a little father Alton I position here's a side-by-side battle between Rusty Wallace and number 27 in Ricky Rudd in 26 this is the battle for sixth position let's see the inside line can take over this spot Rud battling back on the outside but nope let's listen [Music] you folks at home are wondering how Rusty Wallace run so quickly because he was reading stop running back right away miss Rusty Wallace pretty it's proof [Music] other to fifth position in the first 75 laps started 20 in this lapsim Bobby Hillin appears to be experiencing some major mechanical problems smoke coming from the car he had slowed on the racetrack Bob and there back hard look at rescue Wallace on the March trying to take over the fourth position now Ernie Irvan so all those flames that starting in the back of the pack isn't the place to be quickly now side-by-side of Ernie Irvan moving out of turn number two and down the backstretch Wallace [Music] well one thing that he could hope for would be repulsion some [Music] trying to take over the fifth position so ricky rudd does move into this position and [Music] back to Derrick open number 10 they're banging around out there well they really are the past now as it goes hurt what bread drives and all that there the past and meanwhile Dale Earnhardt's trying to make the pain darrell waltrip it's going to suicide to all afternoon now they are hardly back to this battle we go they tell us at number 21 three boards battling it out certainly no stranger Locke yesterday in the Busch Grand National race that was won by Tommy Houston that you will see later this week here on ESPN huge all promises [Music] Wacka Wacka how close he comes from the outside instance Talladega except that as as as is the case in Talladega when you get out of the draft and my side in those positions and so it is here I sided gets stuck out there you can see the damage to of darrell waltrip scar and watched this here's Michael Wall Michael Waltrip's car one in turn three Kurland Marlin leaves him a little bit of an opening well he pictures a little bit and open it anyway he makes an opening he gets Stirling knocks inside westerly comes back they bump one more Michael those on patient spot away all kinds of action on the racetrack as the lead is held by Dale make that pit stop in his class he is with only two tires he was able to keep up with Waltrip and with Earnhardt with fort Goodman this guy could be a rocketship he could be really flying and we're watching the action in the back pits now Tommy Ellis they're the first car second car is Michael Waltrip as for tire changes are being made on those machines Morgan Shepherd in the bound lane car number 75 bill Garrett was that back there Phil Parsons Nichol so nerd' the wrinkle there's no time [Music] someone not too tired and her lucky that is not in front of one of the other car Michael Walters Ely baby Alice because some have a serious problem he's been in several times today dick what might be the problem there well what seems to be happening Bob is that there's a section about an inch or two on the outside edge of the tire inside edge of this one that seems to be just breaking the weight and they were worried about this before the start of the race they said probably it shouldn't hurt a whole lot but I'd rather not be running on a tire that's got this going on we've seen several of them come off cars both today and yesterday so tires could emerge has a story in this changing the right rear spring on that car you see the fellow the back loosen up the bone that sits on top of the spring they've changed the spring that I put Jerry punch aren't they against what they're doing Benny actually they're changing the right rear spring they're concerned about the car getting looser and looser so they want to stiffen the car for a bit right brother change the spring in the car [Music] the fella back there jack in the wait in it and getting the new spring in the car so he'll try anything to make the car go a little better a great job they did not lose a lap one day he was having a tough time out there to drink green flag conditions Dennis Rader was sliding all over that racetrack so he said get me a salt for spring on that right rear so I can get a better bite coming off of the turn and that's probably what he did is put a spring that's not quite as strong on the right rear there and that will let it get better traction coming off the turn because it's it and not only that but even we didn't really run that well that was a concern but if we're not in that position and we've got to only think about getting a good finish they ended up not doing more for any oil that might have been put down on the racetrack by the peak Pontiac driven by Kyle Petty and we will reach the halfway point under caution now this is what happened as Kyle came off of the corner in the fourth corner and he knew something was wrong right then as Michael Waltrip went around and so did Ernie Irvan and the leaders are now in Jerry punches and Rusty Wallace has been Kodiak crew going to work again Timmy bait car Mary Dodson John Johnson of the brood now married the left side things with you right on the bottom here is waiting fingers take pro get into work on that car about the transmission - well dick what's been going on some of them people that monitors wonder about whether we have a transmission troubles but yesterday you know we had a large rainstorm and we didn't get a chance to change but our race agent into late in the afternoon so what has happened is we've got a little bit too much split in the rear ratio versus the transmission ratio and it's not as as good as we'd like to have it on restarts and stuff like that it's not it really a problem it's just something that we're making note of early in the race so that future reference will come back a little different that's what Darrell's told us on the radio earlier and some people have misinterpreted that having Mike trouble about the fuel you took that only one can and no tires why well we haven't really run that many laps under green and we've been trying to you know trying to save our tires make sure we got plenty good sis for the last part of race so we decided nothing else come in put some gas on any car didn't feel like we needed a tires cars really you don't look it up pretty good we still got a long ways to go we're going to pace ourselves you know telling you something so did Alan Kulwicki and Geoff Bodine as they went into the turn Phil Parsons spun in it you see his car on the left of your screen there so when you go into a turn Benny and that oil is down the racetrack there's not a great deal to do back I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't one in there because there wasn't a great deal of smoke connected with that car going in there it looks like he may have blown off the bread eater hose or something because again if it been an engine it looks like there should have been more blue smoke well in any case Richard Petty is out of the race after a great run he was running in the top 10 back with more is in having being asked to come in by the NASCAR officials and they say that an enterprise might be coming off of the left side so they asked him to come in to check it we gave the signal for one more lap to go so he's going to have to hurry and get back out he stays in the lead lap okay and takes off let's go to Jerry punch you can update us on Richard Petty first of all sure many fans around the country are wondering Richard is okay I just spoke to him inside the truck he's getting his breath he said the engine did blow in the STP Pontiac unfortunately knee back incorrectly in the wall he jerked his neck back a little bit by the waajid okay he didn't get hurt it's a little bit disappointed about being out of the goodies 500 all right so Richard Petty will watch the rest of the race from the infield as the field gets set to go green once again very slow restart as they come down the crowd on its feet the Greenway [Music] 369 laughs oh wow look at all those cars up in the oil got three four press private tiptoe through that corner there's got to be slick down there [Music] Wallace Waltrip then Labonte in here [Music] has fallen two laps off the face 26 [Applause] with some restart look at the scramble as they head into one and we see the oil dried up there these four start getting any [Applause] [Music] in control of that Buick it was looking and getting back down in a roof where he to get some traction mark mark going behind the wall he's been having problems all day long we'll say that was just about throwing his Winston Cup championship aspirations Ned yep they're going bickerman [Music] now that's it you just heard it from mark Barton the oil pressure is gone the red light is on they're looking at the motor but there's basically nothing they're going to be able to do about it championship basically goes down to two people they learn and Rusty Wallace be able to make up some points if the race continues to go as it is right because cart is in night so rusty will be able to make up more points than he lost last week at Dover but look at that black curry he [Music] 27 Rusty Wallace get in from then a caution flag come out boom he's back to the lead lap with a chance to win the race [Music] six laps to go the two and 84 cars boy again it seems like these guys have been battling each other literally lap on Bernard they get side there's nothing they could do Walter goes inside and three abreast one in the corner and the 84 carb Dick Trickle finally passed Ricky Rudd at number 26 and so Dick Trickle moves to third [Applause] Ricky Rudd has some type of problem he's just not as fast as he has been all day and it looks like his brakes might be going bad get us a little bit of a break problem that's how Dick Trickle went into third position well the significant Rusty Wallace has led the most laps today and so will get the five bonus points for doing so very important in that battle for the Winston Cup number 20 an entire problem what about a dick entire problem things are going exactly well of the anything at Darryl Waltrip damages radio do is cry the car take care of it and a whole pile of tight guys that are headed for victory lane properly so we're gonna let Jeff Hammond go join him congratulations to you Jeff so Darrell Waltrip wins his third consecutive Duty's 500 his 11th here at Martinsville and the 79th win of his career the top 20 finishers we have for you as we watch Darrell Waltrip our wool to the right here on the bait straight away on the start/finish line there you can see that Dale Jarrett finished in fifth position an excellent run for him as Rusty Wallace finished fourth Dale Earnhardt wound up in 9th position so rusty is going to pick up a few Winston Cup points as a result of this race 11 through 15 there is Terry Labonte Michael Waltrip Derek du Coq Bill Elliott and Phil Parsons and then finishing 16th root Buddha and Jim Sauter Greg better me so I tried to save my tires and keep him cool and I started cut off the corner but just as good as he was and you know he will really know his era for the head - mother - laughs - her run he wouldn't like some more laps Bob Jenkins you can believe it but in the Winston Cup points Titan now Rusty Wallace only 75 behind the alert heart he was 102 will have IndyCar racing at 9:30 night
