within the same division the AFC East they have been battling all season long they're two hot football teams a New England Patriots so the win tonight can clinch this division and they have won eight of their last nine games they lost the other game in overtime to the Jets meanwhile the Miami Dolphins have ever defeated November the third by this New England team they have won five in a row but there is something jinx over New England remember the little character and little after every time the New England Patriots come to the Orange Bowl they go away with the loss the last time they won here was in 1966 they have lost 17 consecutive games here in the Orange Bowl the players now say it's not a jinx well we don't know about that a man who can tell us a little bit more about what New England's going to have to do tonight to defeat Miami Joe Namath Joe thank you Frank well Raymond Barry the coach of the New England page it certainly doesn't put much stock in the jinx he says his 17 game jinx is not wearing a jersey out there tonight his football team the Patriots are playing better football at this stage and they have all season long they're healthier at this stage and they have been the entire season the question in my mind is will Tony Eason be able to handle the pressure now he's only in his third year this is by far the most pressure-packed game he's been confronted with people say well he's a California kid he'll be cool but we'll find out tonight the defense of the Patriots is a very good one they're second ranked in the entire AFC but they will have their hands full with Marino on the legs of the Marx Brothers now here's the juice the tunas in on the dolphin well Joe you said Moreno when you talk about Miami you start with Moreno 27 touchdowns near 4,000 yards and Don Shula says just now at the top of his game now his two worst games have been against New England one was the first game they played this year but Mark Cooper did not play they're a different team with d'hubert they're five I know since his return defensively what Miami must do is keep New England for running the football they don't want to they don't want to get in a shootout New England once a controller boss he's going to have to stop them from running the ball and key there it's going to be their nose times for Mike Charles they're two inside linebackers Jackie's ship and Jay Brophy when they lost the New England earlier this year the England with 80 yards on 20 yard drives late in the game and most of the runs will run right up the middle so those guys must perform well if Miami's gonna win here tonight in any event first place is on the line so it should be one well of a football game and the Orange Bowl is sold out of course it had been raining here stadium announcer we understand is going to announce the national anthem and asked a very enthusiastic stadium crowd if they will rise and sing the national anthem as we look at head coach Don Shula dolphins air but one the tars tonight they will have first possession do you talk about the Orange Bowl you talk about tremendous price for any team that comes in to the Orange Bowl the Dolphins are six and oh here this year they have a remarkable home feel that if you were with us a couple of weeks ago at the pair game you realize that the crowd becomes almost a 12th man for the Dolphins on many occasions the Bears had to stop and wait hoping for some kind of quiet where they could hear the signals snap and the call the automatics and they didn't get much of that deep for that often Lorenzo Hampton is back there the first-round draft pick this year out of Florida averaging a little over 23 yards on the return Joe Carter is back there with him and Tony Franklin will kick off for New England if no England wins tonight to tell you once again they are the AFC Eastern Division champions for the first time since 1978 a win for Miami they still have to go on and for themselves an AFC East title the stadium is rocking you stay in and zone the field was covered prior to the game although it did have a little bit of a mist after they had taken the tarp off as we look at Dan Marino clearly remarkable career he's ever so young to accomplish what he has accomplished there are the people that work on the other end with Dan Marino Mark Clayton needs seven receptions a season set yet another dolphin record break his own as a matter of fact he needs seven the break his bucket of 73 reception son a year ago Cooper of course back and healthy they are awesome when they're together first and 10 Miami Moreno let's back into the pocket and tries to get the ball to Clayton and you saw Clayton slip a little bit and I believe the field is a little damp it was misting on and off after they had taken the tarp and earlier we saw tavin port in the end zone slipped it'll be mostly a 3/4 Garen Ferris the defensive left in the rookie from Stanford is replaced an injured Ken Sims and he to tonight is able to stop the first offensive move by these miami dolphins look at it from a wide angle Nathan top of your screen played well by James they win his own defense that time in Roland Bears is that they they don't sometimes they even break at the offense who is capable of getting enough points to take care of it third down and one mostly tasuku is in there with Greg James as New England Patriots a win by the Dolphins tonight they will not fix the divisional title they would have to be Buffalo right here in the Orange Bowl next week but the Patriots for the win tonight
