whether 96 consecutive time RFK Stadium has sold out as today now Washington Redskins will the six and four record play host to the st. Louis Cardinals who are three and seven hi everybody I'm Gary bender along with Sonny Jurgensen and the Washington Redskins have lost two in a row last year you might recall they last five of their last six games and they folded up they come in here with good success against the Cardinals they've won six of the last seven but fullback John Riggins Sonny probably summed it up that's what he said if we don't win today our playoff hopes go up in smoke I think having experienced a letdown at the end of last season it's going to help the Redskins in their last six game there's no question they're not an overpowering football team they have to be hitting on all cylinders to be successful or they can be very bad at times well the other hand with the balance in the National Football Conference with six games left the division titles aren't sewed up and neither is a wild card as a matter of fact mathematically the Cardinals still have a chance the Cardinals last week rolled up 325 yards on the ground that's a record for them they broke a three-game losing streak and they have renewed confidence as they come in here I would think that they should have but after playing Minnesota the way they did I would think one thing Gary that going into the last six games they can be spoilers and I think they have to end their season on a positive note because it's going to have a lot to do with the future of the Cardinal football program the Washington Redskins have won the toss they've elected to receive as Steve little you're looking at him number 12 will be kicking off Ike Forte it's the middle man he's back inside the five there's Forte he'll be running kickoffs back they cause buddy hardemann is out with a broken jaw purchase a football and it's underway this is Forte from the goal line last week he averaged 31 yards returned from the kickoff department he's across the 15 to the 20 and jumped out about Kenton Green knocks him out and now let's set offensive ly this Washington team John Riggins boy he's having a super year been him alone at the other running back the wide receivers bugs Warren the rookie from San Diego State who's been starting the last five game he has gene few kits ready but warns doing a good job and we'll start and that offensive line had stayed healthy this year it has that's been a big success at the Washington Redskins keeping them healthy and Joe Theismann who's ranked third in the NFC is the quarterback from the 20-yard line in motion that's Ricky Thompson Riggins and Riggins to the 22 yard line and let's set defensively now the football Cardinals ranked fourth overall you see Dawson and poverty poverty play very well this year six sacks already young good football player now you have some changes in that linebacking core but Calvin fav Ron they really like you have a young rookie and Jack party's high on the bear field - just keeping this offense - to go straight ahead with a football he may have had a little trouble with it exchange let's look at it I thought he mishandled it but maybe I'm seeing things let's see not
