[1333] Opened With Hot Glue & Bolt: Pinhead Bike Lock

this is the lockpicking lawyer and i've received dozens of emails asking me to take a look at pin head bike locks they're an unusual design that use an individualized wrench to open up it's not a traditional key lock because the same wrench that opens the lock will unscrew security bolts that retain bike parts like the wheels handlebar and seat so this was a security compromise from the very beginning the lock is less secure than a traditional bike lock but the system as a whole protects more of the bike that may or may not be a compromise you're willing to accept but the question remains how would i open this or put differently how would i improvise this unique wrench well i went down to my garage and smashed the head of a bolt with a hammer that provides the base of the tool in the field i'd probably use a five minute epoxy to impression the security nut but here on my desk another solution might be this cordless glue gun okay that should be enough now let's get it into position and we need to hold the bolt in place just to allow that glue to set up we'll probably give it about 20 seconds that should be enough holding now let's let it firm up for another 10 seconds and we'll give it a try okay i think we're ready okay folks i'm sure there are countless ways to impression this lock but they will all require at least some preparation preparation that will likely not be present in the field unless your bike is specifically targeted even so the defeat methods seem to be very low skill in any case that's all i have for you today if you do have any questions or comments about this please put them below if you like this video and would like to see more like it please subscribe and as always have a nice day thank you
