look into a day in the life of a law enforcement officer this episode will feature a car unlock an alarm check and two welfare checks law enforcement live is filmed live with the men and women of law enforcement all participants in tonight's show are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law viewer discretion is advised [Applause] [Music] i'm deputy yost i've been with the berkeley county sheriff's department for just about six years now i enjoy it every day is a new day never a boring moment in berkeley county for sure right now we're going to be on our way to an unlock off of warm springs i guess somebody locked their keys in their car having a rough morning so we're going to see if we can assist them with that six years is a pretty long time is that the grand scheme of things i'm still new i guess depending on how you want to look at it it goes quick now you're one of what three female officers would well let me think when i started uh we had one captain female she retired about three days after i started with the department that left us with two females since then we've grown to we're four of us on the road and one that works in evidence five of us so definitely definitely more females at our department which is nice to see does it feel like a boys club when you're getting into law enforcement it does it does but i've never been one to have any issues rolling with the boys so you know let's get the beat up on the guys at the academy not too bad you definitely i can only speak for myself but you definitely feel like you're held to a higher standard being in a predominantly male career i hold myself to a higher standard maybe that's just something that i have for myself but you need to you know i try to look at everybody as as equal when we do the job so i don't i don't feel that i'm any different than the guys but in the same token i hold myself accountable differently just because of the environment of being a predominantly male job but it must not some people's don't work so if i try to unlock it that way it's not going to obviously work well let me think i gotta i lock it with my key with my bob we'll figure it out grab your id for me yeah there isn't a framing around this yeah the tension that i'm going to create by pumping this open is going to stress this window well it's a crazy crap okay i just want to let you know because normally i don't i let people know because you're you're stressing that window when you do it you know the button the unlock is out toward the window i saw it put this vehicle over operator sign it go ahead i'm sorry what's that sir vehicle operator oh i think we'll be all right so your uh your button isn't working sir hey where's the keys at huh where is the keys in here i think you're between the door and seat but i couldn't see them are you sure they're in here yes i've looked everywhere i heard oh you betcha oh i'm sorry oh you're fine the rest of it's not my job to pull up hey i appreciate you that i'm sorry 109 is that the same as the person that the alarm company made all right yeah history is that female here is that your vehicle up front the mercedes yeah yeah is your is your id in there no i'm gonna go look and see if i can find my do you mind if i step inside real quick oh no do you have any if you have a piece of mail with your name on here i'll accept that your dog's taking off the bandit i had to carry her for miles the other day because i she let me pick her up will she let me pick her up if i tried to get her uh i don't know nobody else starts to give her come here bandit come on treat treats treats that works for my dog treats i just give her the treat i don't ever say oh you see i use it for bribery that's what you're doing wrong you're gonna get this out of the way you want to grab um she won't i literally carried her miles back home the other day when she got out quick if you just got a piece of mail it's got your address here and your name and then we can see um i don't know well i guess this is close enough this is the inside oh i know yeah no notify senator you don't have anything mailed here yet how long you been here um i don't know i've been here for months do you live here with anybody else my husband what's his name um steve wright smith you're talking to us oh probably just really um just messed up because that alarm has been going on forever not that a high pitched alarm just come on in she's fine do you mind if the camera guy steps inside with us sure okay or no i don't mind my husband takes care of all that and i don't even i don't even look you you drive correct yes do you have an id you should have a driver's license um if i could find my wallet yes did you maybe leave it out in the car no no okay yeah because i don't i don't uh since we've been here i have to change my driver's license to drive so i'm not driving right now okay is your husband here or is he at work you know he's at work and i called him to let him know that the alarm was going off and and of course he didn't wasn't able to answer the phone so [Music] something that's got your name pardon something that has your name here's my wallet that one i knew i had one somewhere i'm sorry i'm just that alarm going off that long was not good let's see here's my social security card and i do have an organ driver's license here that's probably expired but i don't drive here and i won't until i get my my license for here okay do you need to do you need to call somebody to figure out how to turn the alarm off or probably but i'm i may just ignore it entirely and i've already called my husband and i've already called my husband and said hey you need to call back because the alarm is going off and off and off and i don't know how to turn it off okay well we just want to make sure you were okay yes then step out from here and see if i can see your dog oh that girl bandit she'll if i see her i'll try to get her for you okay okay all right it's not hard to get if if she knows you but i'll give it a shot for you all right thank you very much [Music] i can't listen very well we'll ride down there those eyes are out see if they've seen it come here come all right ferocious guard dog [Music] what i was down there talking to the lady and her dog took off i feel so more responsible for this stuff yes [Music] oh come on let's just go home let's walk home [Applause] wow this way this way okay come on [Music] oh huh oh [Music] all yeah wow that was a lot of guide or she wouldn't let me get close enough to pick her up so thank you so much you're welcome she's a pain in the tooth i love her i feel you i have one like that too take care you're welcome getting them fitbit steps in the day [Applause] yeah well i figured she wasn't gonna let me pick her up but if i could run her back to the house she'd probably go in the door when she opened it little dogs are strong-willed animals god in reference to the alarm it was accidental by give a listening phone number so if you would try that for me please [Music] so go go [Music] oh they come over and walk the dog and say you left about six o'clock this morning you go to work so that would be wise they said he parks here so obviously you can't fit a car in there well there is a car in here right now that you use evidently the way it looks so i think it's safe to say yeah it's safest person all right all right well we'll clear it out i appreciate it already 135 shares department would you call back the caller on the cat that i'm on for corey underway let that female know
