the culture of your workplace is the foundation for everything your company does it directly impacts your team's happiness well-being productivity and more now leadership really really good servant leadership that focuses on the team is the main ingredient in crafting a great company culture but that's just the first step here are 10 specific ideas you can Implement to make your company culture Thrive with number one being the most important we've used these to build a culture that wins national awards for workplace culture if you find this helpful like And subscribe as I regularly create videos like this number 10 give individualized appreciation we all love to be appreciated we all want to know what we're doing matters but we all like being appreciated individually so one of the things we found is that appreciating people globally is way less effective than individualized appreciation so there's a wonderful book and basically the premise is there's five different ways that people enjoy being appreciated for instance words of affirmation is the way that some people like to be appreciated if you write them a card if you tell them thank you personally that means a lot to them whereas other people are feel a lot more appreciated through acts of service if you do something for them so if you can determine what your team members like how they like to be appreciated it's really really powerful and companies that have managers that understand their team and know how they like to be appreciated are much more effective one of the things we did to help us with this is in our internet all all of our team members have a bio page and it lists how each team member likes to be appreciated what type of appreciation matters most to them and then it has some of their favorite things like their favorite food their favorite restaurant their favorite coffee things like that it makes it really really easy to appreciate people individually number nine is to have regular team shoutouts So speaking of appreciation one incredibly effective tactic that we found is public shoutouts so when we have our team meetings the whole company gets together we always take time at the end to go around and give people shout outs now we will let anyone give shout outs to anyone else so usually someone will say hey I want to give a shout out to Jay and to Katrina for helping me on this project their help was invaluable they were so positive throughout the whole thing I couldn't have gotten it done without them and then everyone claps for Jay and Katrina this has been really incredible people who receive the appreciation love it and people who give it love it too and it's not just coming from High the CEO it's coming from everyone in the company everyone who starts working here at our company loves it and they always say wow this is the most positive meeting I've ever been in so think about how can you do public shout outs in a positive way number eight is to play games together one of the best things you can do to boost your culture and business is to build great relationships and one of the ways you build relationships is to bond together and one of the best ways to bond together is to have fun together one of the things we're very purposeful about is planning game times for our team members so sometimes we'll do companywide games where everyone will get together we'll play a massive game of like Pictionary everyone has a sentence they draw a picture that depicts that we'll put it up on slides we have to guess what they are there's a lot of laughs it's really funny uh people can get on teams sometimes we'll do trivia there's so many different ways you can get your team together whether it's virtually or in person to play games together it's often good to give the winners some rewards like gift cards it's often good to purposely pair people together or get teams together of people who don't necessarily always work together or maybe even people who need to work better together a really really great thing to do it create some great memories and helps people Bond number seven is to provide frequent transparency it's really important to let your team members know what's going on now if you're a leader of course you don't have to tell everyone every little thing but it's really important to let them know not just generally what's going on and what's planned but let let them know your thoughts too and how you're feeling so this is another opportunity we take whether it's meetings that departments have and the manager will share everything that's going on or our team meetings I will share generally what's going on we're very transparent here we'll actually show all of our financials to everyone we have slides where we'll go through how much we made you know who our top clients are what percentage of our Revenue they bring in how much we invoice in our internet anyone can go in at any time and see all the invoices that are going out see how much we've accumulated that month so we just have a lot of transparency here and you know sometimes leaders say I don't know about that I'm worried you know if I share all that financial information that you know some of my team members will say you know I deserve a ra or I should get paid more if we're doing well and if we're not doing well they'll get scared and maybe they'll look for another job and you know maybe that happens but we've never had a problem with that here I think everyone can figure that out already and everyone just really appreciates it so you don't have to share all your financials but try to figure out ways that you can share generally what the plan is where you're going in the next year as a company and how your leaders are feeling your team members will really appreciate it number six is eat together this is one of the ways your team can bond together but try to find ways that you can eat together whether it's just a department just a couple people or the whole company together we do all of these things even if you're virtual if you can ever have a lunch hour together and just just chat and small talk it really brings people together and we've always enjoyed doing this here at our company it's something we've spent a lot of time doing over the years there's something special about breaking bread together and just having that conversation and small talk when you eat together number five is to have regular one-on ones you should always be having one-on ones with your team members and the manager that's so critically important it's a great time to build the relationship to build trust and it's so important that the manager simply listens ask what's going on ask how that person's feeling ask what the biggest struggle is ask how the manager can support that team member this critical one-on-one time is so important don't skip it do it regularly do it once a week if you can if not once every two weeks we've really benefited from doing this it's a great way to almost have like a Job review every single week or every couple weeks where both parties talk about what's going on what they like and don't like the communication and transparency is really fantastic and it will benefit your organization number four is provide growth opportunities all humans want to grow and get better whether they realize it or not there's something about personal development and Improvement which makes us happy and fulfilled and of course makes us perform better in life and so think about how can your organization be more purposeful about helping your team members grow about helping your team members get better it's so critical to do that so one of the things we do is we'll have regular department meetings and everyone in that department will share something they learned over the past couple weeks or month we will do webinars we'll do lunch and learns we'll send team members to conferences we'll do regular book clubs here which are really great we're a digital marketing company so one of the things we do is have one of our team members take a half an hour every week and just compile all the important things that have happened throughout the week what are Google's latest algorithm changes what are social media platforms up to and then send an email out to the whole team so everyone on the team can quickly just learn and digest what's happening in our field anything like that is important so think about how can you make your team members grow that will give them more fulfillment and happiness and make them more productive number three is ask for feedback great leaders listen one of the biggest communication problems we have today is most people listen to reply not to understand so if you your leaders your managers can ask for feedback that is so critically important one of the things we did here is remove all the doors none of our offices have doors we want everyone to feel comfortable coming in so we have not just an open door policy but a noo policy and it's just a way to Signal we always want to hear from everyone uh we always want to be open to an idea no matter who it comes from everyone's ideas are worth listening to if you can create a culture where people know that they can say what they want to say where they know they're Listen to It's incredibly powerful and it will really boost your workplace number two is to celebrate success is okay this might seem really simple but so many companies miss this when you have a win when you get a new client when you launch a really great project when you go above and beyond when something goes right take some time to celebrate it it doesn't have to be a huge party that you throw it could be just an email sent out to everyone celebrating it it could be just giving someone a shout out verbally it could be ordering in a cake it could be having a little get together a wine and cheese a clock something like that but when you celebrate successes it really instills the value of those successes and it brings those successes to mind and it's such a positive thing to do for your team there's so many workplaces that try to find people doing things wrong we try to find people doing things right and you get what you focus on always celebrate your successes and before I get to number one if this is helpful for good solid values and they have to be visible so we have them on the wall we have them on our internet we have them in our proposals we have them on our presentations when we go for a new business with new clients we have them in our team meetings whenever we do a team meeting I'll stand up I'll run through our values and then we'll give someone a shout out for fulfilling that value over the last month so you got to have a company culture where everyone knows and loves the values believes in them you hire by them you fire by them and you live by them having good strong values makes
