From a whale that crash landed through a fishing
boat to the guy who was actually eaten by a whale! Plus more chaos and carnage, here’s what
happens when fishing goes wrong! 10: Whale Lands on Fishing Boat
In Australia, a normal fishing trip turned into a horrible nightmare after a whale literally
jumped out of the water and landed sideways on a fishing boat. The incident was so incredibly brutal that
a teenager onboard had to be rushed to the hospital and was in critical condition! It happened off the south coast of New South
Wales. Two guys were just, “just doing what they
love.” Nick Myhill from Narooma, was only 18 years
old when the whale came flying out of the water like it had a jetpack on and then belly
flopped onto his head! Luckily, his stepfather was there too and
saw the whole thing. I mean it was kind of hard to miss when a
massive whale jumps on the boat you’re on. Nick’s stepfather did not sustain any injuries. He was able to phone emergency services, advising
them that Nick had suffered a serious blow to his head. In the end, Nick had to be airlifted to the
hospital but was expected to live. As for the attack, it happened completely
out of the blue. There was absolutely no warning. One second they were fishing, the next, the
whale lurched out of the water, fell sideways, and landed on the boat, nearly snapping the
vessel in half! This is known as breaching. If the whale doesn’t know the boat’s there,
it can sometimes breach right under it, flipping the boat over and killing the fishermen on
board! 9: Needlefish to the Neck
A teenager in Indonesia also had a horrifying accident when his fishing trip went wrong. In fact, this kid is beyond lucky to be alive. He got a fish through the neck! I mean that as literally as possible. The 16-year-old teen had been fishing with
his mom and dad, having a wonderful time, when a flying needlefish jumped out of the
water and stabbed the boy right in his neck. Now, it's not called the needlefish for nothing. This fish has a snout as pointy as a needle
and as sharp as a razor. It jumped from the water with such speed that
it was like a spear being shoved through the kid’s neck. But by some miracle, the fish didn't stab
through anything important. It got the meaty bit at the back of his neck,
missed every major artery, and its nose exited the other side without ever hitting his spinal
column. At the hospital, the teen was rushed into
emergency surgery and the needlefish was removed. The operation only took about an hour, but
it was successful and last we heard, the kid was in stable condition. As a side note, this is actually something
that has been known to happen before this incident to the fishermen in the waters around
Indonesia, needlefish are often viewed as more dangerous than sharks. Can you imagine getting stabbed in the neck
by a fish?! 8: Through the Ice
Something scary and a little shocking happened during an ice fishing trip on Lake Winnebago
in Wisconsin. This was in the small and remote town of Quinney. According to the local police, a 44-year-old
man and a young girl of 10 were both found dead after their pickup truck fell through
the ice and they drowned. Well, either drowned or froze to death, or
maybe a bit of both. It happened on the first day of the sturgeon
spearing season. Every year, thousands of people are drawn
to the lake to go spear fishing for these impressive fish. Normally, the lake is frozen. People drive their vehicles out, make little
holes in the ice, and then try to catch fish. This year, the ice proved to be a little too
thin. They had gone out at about 11:30 am, but shortly
after driving onto the ice, the truck hit a crack. As soon as the cracked ice felt the heavy
pressure of the truck, the ice gave way. The crack got bigger and the truck started
sinking into the freezing cold water. The two that died were father and daughter,
but there was also a third girl involved who was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She was a friend of the daughter, only eight
years old. While she will undoubtedly survive the incident,
the others weren’t as fortunate. And to be frank, the 8-year-old was beyond
lucky. She was in the freezing water for around 30
minutes before men from the fire department were able to get her out. Have you ever driven across a frozen lake? Were you scared the ice was going to crack? Let me know in the comments below and if you’re

In Summerville, a young boy had a pretty terrible accident while trying to hook a bass. The kid was just 11 years old when he nearly
lost his eyeball! He was fishing with his father. It was about 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon,
and the kid successfully hooked a bass. He was eager and excited, so he yanked on
his rod to try and reel the fish in. Unfortunately for the boy, the hook came loose
and stabbed him in the face! Ouch! Naturally, the poor kid was taken to the emergency
room immediately! His father took one look at his eye and knew
he had to get him to a doctor as soon as possible. The hook had gone through his eyelid and narrowly
missed actually penetrating his eyeball. Had the hook sank just a few millimeters deeper,
the kid probably would have had foggy vision in one eye for the rest of his life, or he
may even have been blinded. But instead, the doctors managed to slip the
hook out of his eyelid and he was perfectly fine. 6: Swept Away
While fishing on the Housatonic River in New Milford, a pair of men vanished. Johnny Sanchez and Wilson Pacheco were fishing
on a Wednesday night when one of them fell forward into the river. Authorities aren't sure which one fell first,
but they're fairly certain the second man tried to rescue the first. The friends weren’t going to leave each
other behind. His rescue attempt was a complete failure
though and the current whisked both men away down the river to their doom! They really didn’t stand a chance against
the strong currents. The body of Sanchez was found on Friday morning,
while the body of Pacheco was found the next day by a boater at the local lake. It's not believed that any foul play was involved. Instead, it was a simple incident of man vs
wild – and this time, the wild won. 5: Boat Collision
A Japanese fishing boat got into a bit of trouble just recently after smashing into
a giant Russian ship, capsizing, and causing the death of three crew members. According to the Japan Times, the Japanese
fishing boat was called the Hokko Maru No. 8. It had five crew members and was out searching
for hairy crabs at around 6:00 o'clock in the morning. The Russian vessel was significantly larger,
crewed by 23 men and transporting seafood to the island of Sakhalin in the Far East
of Russia, which of course is very near to the northern Japanese islands. At the time, there had been a dense fog advisory. The crew of the Hokko Maru probably never
even saw the Russian vessel coming, or at least they didn't have time to react once
they did see it. The fishing boat hit the Russian vessel so
hard that it flipped 180 degrees. It capsized immediately. Only two of the crew members were alive by
the time Coast Guard showed up. The fishing boat was unable to be recovered
since it sank. It's now resting at the bottom of the ocean. 4: Swallowed by a Humpback
Off the coast of Provincetown in Massachusetts, a man was diving for lobster. His name is Michael Packard, and he is an
experienced commercial lobster diver, with countless dives under his belt. The incident happened in the middle of the
summer on June 11, 2021. The bizarre encounter that you're about to
hear didn’t last very long, it actually only lasted roughly 30 seconds. According to Packard himself, a humpback whale
came out of nowhere, swallowed him whole, then spat him out a few seconds later! Other than a bit of bruising and an injured
knee, Packard made it out pretty much unhurt. He spent between 30 and 40 seconds inside
the mouth of the whale. This may be something that has never before
happened in history. Packard was 45 feet(13.7m) deep looking for
lobsters when he felt as though a truck smashed into him from behind. Everything went dark, he thought for sure
he was being attacked by a great white shark, and then he realized it was so much worse
than that. He was inside of a whale's mouth and the whale
was trying to swallow him into its giant belly. Somehow, Packard managed to keep his breathing
apparatus on throughout the whole affair. His scuba gear was still functioning properly. He struggled and tried to move, thinking to
himself he was going to die in the mouth of a whale - what a way to go. Then, just as suddenly as it happened, it
was over and Packard was splashing around in the water. He couldn't believe his luck. Whales don’t eat humans. Not on purpose anyway. Packard was just in the wrong place at the
wrong time. As soon as the humpback realized it had an
unfamiliar taste in its mouth, it spat him out! In case you doubt the story, it really did
happen. His crewmates witnessed the entire thing,
it's been reported by almost every major news network around the world, and there are countless
interviews with Packard himself detailing the horrible event. He's the only guy to ever be eaten by a humpback
whale and survive. 3: Crash of the Fishing Shanty
On Devil’s Lake in Michigan, a fisherman was killed in a rather unusual way. He had gone out onto the lake to ice fish. The fisherman set up a small fishing shanty,
he drilled his hole in the ice, and he sat down to have a bit of peace and relaxation
while trying to pull fish out of the frozen lake. Everything was going fine until about 7:00
PM when a lunatic on a snowmobile drove straight into his fishing shanty, ran the guy over,
and killed him! The driver of the snowmobile only suffered
minor injuries and may have been under the influence of alcohol. The police have refused to release the name
of the victim or the snowmobiler, but it's safe to say the man on the snowmobile is in
some serious trouble. I mean, Devil’s Lake is a pretty big place. There was plenty of room for him to drive
on his snowmobile, and yet he still managed to crash into the shanty and kill the unsuspecting
fisherman inside. The poor guy didn't even know what hit him
– then he was dead. 2: Ruined Waters
In 2021, a cargo ship off the coast of Sri Lanka sank. It was arguably one of the worst marine disasters
in recent memory. The vessel was filled with nitric acid and
heaps of other dangerous chemicals. There was an explosion that happened on board
on May 20. Flaming chemical barrels tumbled into the
sea, and over the next two weeks, the ship slowly sank. What happened because of this incident was
that a huge stretch of coastline, about 50 miles(80km), was absolutely ruined. It affected about 5600 fishing vessels, as
the waters have literally become unfinishable. The chemicals ruined the water, tainted the
fish, and cost thousands of people their jobs. Head of a regional fishing union, Joshua Anthony
said, "The ship has dealt a death blow to our lives, we can’t go into the sea which
means we can’t make a living." Pictures taken by the country's air force
revealed the charred wreck of the doomed ship. White smoke spewed into the air as it tipped
to the right and began sinking, and part of it soon touched the seabed, just 73 feet(22m)
deep in the immediate area. To give you an idea of just how bad the situation
was and still is, about 1486 containers of dangerous chemicals fell into the water. Those chemicals are now poisoning the sea
life surrounding Sri Lanka. It was a huge blow to fishermen and an even
bigger blow to the local marine life, which may never recover. 1: Mauled by a Bear
Charles Mock went fishing in Yellowstone National Park one day, and it would be the last thing
the man ever did. He didn't fall into the water and drowned,
nobody ran him over with a snowmobile. Instead, Charles was attacked and mauled to
death by a bear. According to CNN, he went into the wilderness
alone to fish, something he did quite frequently. He took bear spray with him as a precaution
in case he ran into an ornery animal. Well, he did. An old male grizzly bear spotted Charles at
the edge of a river with his fishing pole and decided Charles was invading his territory. It charged him, claws the fishermen to death,
and then hightailed it out of there. The bear was really just doing ordinary bear
stuff, it wasn't really the animal’s fault. But nonetheless, it was deemed a safety hazard,
hunted down, and shot. But what's really crazy is that things like
this happen all the time at Yellowstone. According to the National Park Service, 44
people have been injured by grizzly bears since 1979. Thanks for watching! What’s the worst thing that’s ever happened
to you while fishing? Let me know in the comments and be sure to
