that takes the fans by surprise i'm the man hey you look at me when i'm talking to you or we can straighten this out right now does that surprise come from the form of a cafe break and thus mentioning someone's personal life we don't smoke we don't drink we don't do drugs but you know [Music] well over the years there has been a rise of savage moments delivered in wwe promos i can fall off really tall things and get back up look daddy i can survive a helicopter crash [Applause] this is due to the rise of social media and the internet as a whole as fans are more likely aware of the ins and outs of the wwe and this also extends to wrestlers personal lives talk about your obsession with dean ambrose i mean after all you're the one sleeping with them sometimes one savage line during a promo or a segment can make a segment famous for instance some of these on the forthcoming list are 15 years old hey it's nothing he says he knows you you're nothing ah don't laugh at the rock's jokes although limited sometimes in relation to the audience meta references and references that people's personal lives can reach they sometimes can do wonders in enhancing a feud and really sell the fact that the individuals involved in the promo segment actually dislike each other and right now this isn't cm punk talking to triple h this is phil brooks talking to paul levesque but with that being said join us one of the most featured story lines on smackdown between 2017 and 18 was the storyline that involved kevin owens and sami zayn vs shane mcmahon [Applause] the story culminated in the in-ring returner daniel bryan at wrestlemania 34 when he teamed up with shane to beat the heel duo of ko and zayn now there was a stipulation in the match that if ko and sammy won they would become members of the smackdown live roster once again this was after being fired by shane months prior [Applause] well they lost the aforementioned match and thus remained free agents what are you doing on the next night on raw wwe aired a segment which involved kerr angle being interrupted by ko and sami and the pair requested that angle sign them to raw so they could join their tag division but angle simply replied well um my tag team division is full but i hear that tna is higher the moment blew up on social media as it was the first time in wwe history that tna was officially name dropped on wwe television number two no enhancements needed the first time they meet on pay-per-view is gonna be at summerslam we're gonna finally see the beast versus the viper when wwe announced randy orton vs brock lesnar for summerslam 2016 fans were definitely excited this was because the two had only faced off once in a random episode of smackdown in 2002 and this was before they were both megastars i'll tell you what if you feel the sports entertaining from the ground up ladies and gentlemen that's what it would look like the build for the match began at battleground and orton was a guest on chris jericho's highlight reel orton explained that he was going to beat lesnar no enhancement needed [Applause] what did this mean well orton was referring to lesnar's recent drug suspension from the ufc ufc superstar brock lesnar will be out of the octagon for the next year what's funny is that this was the first time that lesnar's ufc career was mentioned on wwe television and it was certainly one of the highlights of the rather underwhelming feud something tells me you're gonna pay for that little comment randy okay number three it's a promo kid in a dream wrestlemania worthy two heroes colliding at no mercy roman reigns and john cena will be in the ring for the no mercy pay-per-view in 2017 wwe booked cena versus reigns a match that should have taken place at wrestlemania but instead it was given away at an october pay-per-view for well unknown reasons you come out here and say it's your yard they don't agree so much you come out here and say you're the guy they don't agree so much the build for the match received a lot of attention as it involved cena virtually running down all the problems fans had with reigns and in turn cena agreeing with them they look at you they see what i see a cheap ass corporately created john cena bootleg it was a very interesting move for wwe to do this and it simply drew attention to reigns's weaknesses rather than his strengths congratulations it took you five years to go to halfway decent promo but now i'm about to shrink you down the size the bill consisted mainly of shoot style promos between the two where the two would trade personal shots in order to sell the match no mercy consider me like a drug test holmes [Music] [Applause] you ain't getting past me one of the more memorable promo exchanges involved reigns forgetting his words mid promo and cena interrupting him declaring it's called a promo shut your mouth you want to be the big dog you're going to have to learn how to do it so go ahead the comment clearly took reigns off guard who looked completely lost following the remark after the promo the two would go on to face off at the no mercy event where reigns would win the match number four aj lee calls the divas division worthless i am the divas champion i will forever be the savior of the divas division this this is never leaving me by the time the summer of 2013 came around aj lee had solidified herself as the face of the women's division she was virtually untouchable and was one of the most popular female stars by a mile and merchandise and ratings were evidence of this my favorite thing ever is kind of meeting uh little girls that look up to me and and kind of get emotional in august of 2013 aj lee cut her version of the famous cm punk pipe bomb this time on the women's division and more specifically the cast of total divas i didn't get here because i was cute or because i sucked up to the right people aj stated do you want to know what i see when i look in the ring honestly a bunch of cheap interchangeable expendable useless women women who have turned to reality television because they weren't gifted enough to be actresses and they weren't just talented enough to be champion i have saved your divas division i have shattered glass ceilings i've broken down doors why so a bunch of ungrateful stiff plastic mannequins can vault on through without even as much as a thank you guys want to walk in your 4 000 ridiculous heels you will never be able to lace up my chuck taylors the promo became infamous but arguably the greatest promo ever delivered by a female talent and it was the first time a promo of this lent was given to a women's champion you are all worthless excuses for women and you will never be able to touch me aj later revealed in an interview that her promo was so well received backstage that vince got up to hugger the moment she came through the curtain number five sunny days [Applause] but whatever you do stay out of this match the feud between shaw michaels and bret hart became one of the most famous feuds of all time mainly because unlike the majority of wrestling feuds brett and hbk actually loathed each other in real life a clear example of this was on an episode of raw on may 19 97 during promo between the two brett was in the ring while hbk was on the titantron as they were going back and forth sean made a comment about brett believe me you couldn't go 10 minutes in any situation if you know what i mean oh boy he then followed up by saying brett has been seeing a lot of sunny days recently [Music] even though lately you've had some sunny days my friend you still can't get the job done thus giving the idea that brett was having an affair with wwe superstar sunny when i got home i was really offended when i realized that my kids and my father came up and asked me what was going on with sonny that's crossing the line a few weeks later after the sunny days comment brett confronted hpk about it backstage but told him that the comic crossed the line saying you want to talk about my effing family hpk simply walked away from him after which brett pushed him into a wall i couldn't believe they were in the same room as soon as i came out of the bathroom these two went at it oh deep number six what would your father think did in the past i went kicked your ass in the past and it will again one of the highlights of the invasion storyline was a promo segment on a random episode of smackdown leading to the survivor series i've waited so long to tell you to your face that i hate your stinking guts but it's not just me it's your children that hate your stinking guts vince in this segment paul came and let loose and cut a shoot style promo on wwe chairman vince mcmahon in the promo heyman mentioned several personal subjects to mcmahon including the failure of the xfl and how he wasn't a self-made billionaire see you're a billionaire on other people's hard work your father your father vince mcmahon in the promo hayman declared that mcmahon stole everyone's ideas and put everyone out of business he then followed this up by telling mcmahon that he only did this because his legendary father had died your father shook the hand of every promoter in his country and swore to them that he'd never compete against them that his son would never compete against them cayman over a decade later revealed a storyline between name-dropping mcmahon's father and the promo i went up to vince halfway through the day and i said do you even want to know what i'm you know some of the i want to say to anyone nope draw me money you know heyman stated i knew i wanted to invoke the name of his father because i knew his father i worked for his father i was a teenage photographer that used to get paid for my pictures by vince mcmahon's father so i felt i had the right to invoke his father's name which is a no-no unless you're going to say his name with reverence number seven talking smack oh i love this show every time you have me out it's weird cool and fun we never know where we're going talk talking smack was one of the most popular wwe shows of the modern era it was created so superstars could get themselves over in a non-scripted environment and fans could connect with them on a deeper level i don't care about john cena's opinion i don't care about steve austin's opinion i don't really care about your opinion sometimes one of the more infamous segments on the show was an exciting exchange between daniel bryan and the miz after 2016's summerslam pay-per-view there's no gentle way to say it to me you wrestle like a coward you wrestle like somebody who's who's afraid to get hit like i i i rest i wrestle like you wrestle like a coward mistake the reason i wrestle the way i wrestle is because i can do it day in and day out all the time for 10 plus years i have never never in my career been injured i don't get injured for six months to a year i am here each and every week but you sit there and call me a coward brian retorted saying if they would let me come back i would come back oh dave you would yeah the miz then delivered the most famous part of the promo when he stated you loved that wwe ring you loved being in wrestling you love being right in that wrestling ring and you love wrestling right well why don't you quit why don't you quit and go to the bingo halls this is my show my show and i'm sick of all of you my gm sitting there criticizing me calling me the coward the segment is still talked about to this day four years on and could go down as the career highlight of the mirrors number eight triple h didn't want to work [Music] tuesdays ecw one night stand 2005 was an extremely successful pay-per-view both from a financial perspective and from the perspective of original ecw fans one of the more memorable moments on the show was when paul heyman cut a promo on the wwe superstars who were on the upper deck of the hammerstein ballroom i almost forgot about you during the promo heyman told jbl that the only reason you were wwe champion for a year is because triple h didn't want to work tuesday [Applause] the promo became incredibly memorable and one of the best of heyman's career you can even see that jbl has nothing to say number nine raided r we've been kicking down doors we've been breaking bears we've been setting records one of the best feuds of the modern era was the 2017 feud between the usos and the new day the feud highlighted how special tag team wrestling can be when it's presented with respect and attention what we're trying to say is this respect arguably the most notable moment of the feud came during a rap battle segment on smackdown and speaking of butts say hi your pops during the rap battle the uso stated you know what's good just don't get all red at all like your boy xavier woods now the comment was in reference to woods's tape video with paige and it was unknown if wwe management knew about the inclusion of the lion as it was edited out of the youtube upload shortly after obviously they didn't want younger wwe fans to put two and two together and number 10 the pipe bomb cm punk did something unique that is what makes him stand out the pipe bomb is potentially the greatest wrestling promo of all time the promo sent shockwaves through the wrestling world as cm punk sat on a stage and mentioned every taboo subject that's possible in a work shoot style promo there's one thing you're better at than i am and that's kissing vince mcmahon's ass but the part that fans remember the most was when punk declared that wwe will be better off once vince mcmahon is finally gone you're still gonna pour money into this company i'm just a spoke on the wheel the wheel's gonna keep turning and i understand that punk stated vince mcmahon is going to make money despite himself he's a millionaire who should be a billionaire you know why he's not a billionaire because he surrounds himself with glad-handed nonsensical douchebag yes men like john laurenitis who's going to tell him everything he wants to hear and i'd like to think that maybe this company will be better after vince mcmahon is dead but the fact is it's going to be taken over by his idiotic daughter and his due first son-in-law and the rest of his stupid family let me tell you a personal story about vince mcmahon all right do we do this whole bully camp it's still not known today whether this was a 100 work shoot but sadly work shoot or not there was a lot of truth in what cm punk had to say this was years before
