wait for it wait for it pause yeah that's r2d2 i'm sean ferrick for trek culture and here are 10 more most paused star trek moments number 10 klingon cleavage i don't think anybody was quite expecting when they went into the episode of discovery into the forest i go to see quite what we saw really we'd seen lersa and baitor and the uh interesting uniforms that they were put into back during the next generation and for a hot minute in ds9 and generations but i don't think anybody was ready to see laurel completely out of uniform and um a stride tyler mostly because in star trek we're just not used to frontal nudity quite frankly i'm not saying it wasn't pleasant but it was unexpected nine star trek and doctor who are one happy family in the season one finale for starting the next generation the neutral zone we have three 20th century humans wake up after cryostasis for i suppose the guts of 300 years now understandably they're having a little bit of trouble in adjusting to life so counselor troy sits down with claire raymond and starts to try and trace her family back there's actually two versions of this so technically you could have two different entries because when the episode was remastered they changed it up a little bit initially they had william hartnell patrick trouten john pertwee tom baker peter davison and colin baker were all listed as members of the family in claire's descendants again you have to pause it to see it there's a lovely way of linking the two franchises eight depaul's bomb i mean it is what it is guys but in the season three episode of enterprise harbinger tapal and tucker have had this kind of simmering relationship boiling for the whole season they have been engaging in vulcan neuro pressure sessions which is effectively massaging each other in this episode it goes a little bit further effectively depaul sees tucker getting on very well with one of the mako recruits and so she sleeps with them and then afterwards quite coldly says thanks for that poor tucker is left a little bit all over the place really but i mean seven picard speedos captain's holiday is one of the most fun episodes of the next generation because it's patrick stewart acting almost completely out of character i mean captain picard had been this stalwart you know steadfast captain of the ship suddenly here he was lounging back in a speedos i would be lucky to look that good in a pair of speedos this whole episode was just about having a bit of crack and about loosening up it also introduced vash into the franchise she was a lot of fun in the next generation it also introduced max grodenschick really hope i pronounced that correctly who wasn't playing rom this time around but most certainly was playing a ferengi it's a very low stakes episode it's a very fun episode and i mean like i mean if if anyone is up for a bit of jamaharan i just pass it my way six starship graveyard a slight change of mood here in unification the enterprise is investigating the disappearance of some vulcan ships they go to the quail or two effectively dumping ground for dead ships and there is an absolutely you know it's a gorgeous shot for people like me who just like looking at ships you have a klingon katinga class battle cruiser just sitting there in front of the screen it's really quite lovely hey wait a minute what are those ships well it's only one of the prototype models of the uss excelsior and the ralph macquarie uss enterprise that model of the enterprise had in fact appeared in star trek before specifically in star trek 3 the search for spock but this was a fantastically fun reuse of models that for better or worse might not have ever found their way to the screen again blinking you a mess at the moment but it's a really nice way of just honoring a lot of the work that goes in behind the scenes that doesn't necessarily get a light shone on it sometimes five what ship is that in the season one episode of the next generation the battle we see a little change happening to the decor which actually has a lot to do with the plot of the episode the ferengi daemon buck presents picard with a present and it is in fact his old ship the uss stargazer now for the entirety of season one running up to this point there had been the traditional yellow four nacelled model in the captain's ready room sitting on a plinth that was the uss stargazer when the stargazer itself is revealed on screen for nacelle not yellow this time but it's that for nacelled constellation class ship however in this episode that model on the plinth got changed to a constitution class ship because at seemingly the 11th hour they decided no no stargaze is going to be a constitution class ship that's it that's the end of it thankfully along the way they changed their minds now some filming had already been done hence the existence of the model but also they had already recorded levar burton saying that's a constitution class ship so they had to come up with a name of ship that would match as close as possible what he was saying which is where constellation class came from even though in the episode picard seems to have just let go of his love for the stargazer and stuck a model of the old enterprise there instead well they bring it back that's just lovely four seven of nine is having none of q's nonsense in the episode q2 we finally see a little bit of a follow-on from q and the female cues baby obviously as we know q had tried to father a child with janeway jane ray was not massively interested so himself and the female q played by susie blackston conceived a child child is born everybody's happy a couple of years later keegan delancey john de lancie's son appears as this adolescent cue what would you do if you were a young man with no moral compass and god-like powers he appears in the cargo bay and with a click of his fingers seven of nine is totally de-rolled and it's done brilliantly because she turns around and it's just okay i'm naked now so i love the way this entire scene is handled because the way they set up the character of little q yes that's absolutely something he would do and the way they've set up the character of seven of nine is that i don't care if i'm wearing clothes or not doesn't affect how i'm doing my job it was a brilliant move and a very paused moment three jean-luc picard does not do his own stunts in the high ground which is an episode we have covered to death on this channel there is one little moment that doesn't tend to get a lot of appreciation and that is for the wonderful stunt double who stood in for patrick stewart that week he looks nothing like the man one of the great things about being a stunt double on any show is that a lot of the time you can you turn up you do your work you don't kind of have to worry about some of the things that you know the lead actors go through because you know you don't have to do close-ups for example this bloke i mean he fills the screen and it's one of those things that the remaster of the next generation brought more attention to than it really should have now look this is far from the only time that a poor stunt double ever stood in for a captain any time with kirk two trips untuck in the early episode of enterprise acquisition were introduced to two things were introduced to the ferengi and we're introduced to tripp tucker saving the enterprise in not put his boxers i mean like did did someone just go through my christmas wish list or something like i mean i put a request in for this one i'm just gonna say number one the face palm i mean how this didn't make the first list i don't oh hang on i wrote that list anywho in the third season episode of the next generation deja q q turns up on the bridge of the enterprise completely starkers hanging in mid-air they're a little bit like what are you doing here go away because they're dealing with other things they'll find out later on some of these things are connected now q being q has no interest in what they're going through because they need to look after him now he makes his demands and he announces what's gone on and picard is just like [Music] really really today it became an iconic moment and then when the internet became what the internet is it became an instant meme it's a brilliant moment it's one of the most recognizable images from all of the next generation and it is number one on our list today and that is everything for our list there are so many pause moments in star trek there's probably going to be
