10 EXTINCT Disneyland Attractions That Should NEVER Return

whoa happy please welcome now when talking about extinct Disneyland attractions one usually thinks of attractions that we dearly miss and attractions we wish we had back like the Skyway or the people mover we tend to look back on the past with rose-colored glasses and today I'm going to take those glasses off and talk about ten extinct Disneyland attractions that yeah maybe they should just stay dead now in case you haven't seen it I highly recommend checking out the five extinct Disneyland attractions that we all miss video but this video is going to be a little different it's not going to be attractions that we all are glad are gone its attractions that I'm glad are gone so everyone because this is my personal list make sure to go down into the comments and let me know what Disney attraction has faded into obscurity and you would not have it any other way alright and that is enough of me talking so without any further ado ladies and gentlemen here are 10 extinct Disneyland attractions that I am glad are gone and what better way to start our list than with number 10 the flying saucers of Tomorrowland now these are infamous if you don't know about them let me tell you now the flying saucers of Tomorrowland opened in the early 60s they were am a different kind of futuristic attraction the flying saucers of Tomorrowland were a futuristic take on a bumper car attraction the saucers were being pushed around by gusts of air and the goal was to bump into as many people as you possibly could now these flying saucers of Tomorrowland are sort of an infamous Disneyland attraction of the past because they tried to bring the attraction back into the present with the luigi's flying tires attraction in karsland at Disney's California Adventure so it goes without saying that both times the attractions were tested they did not work very well so they took them out both times and replaced them with something new if you're curious and want to go deeper into the past of the flying saucers attraction I suggest checking out some of my older videos about extinct attractions I go over at plenty of times and give you all the history you could possibly want on the the flying saucers were only open for five years before closing in 1966 so the attraction met an unfortunate or fortunate and early end now I think you're going to start noticing a running theme here a majority of these attractions that I'm glad are gone happen to be in Tomorrowland and that's not Tomorrowland's fault per se it's just because it's so hard to keep that land up to date and you know futuristic because the future is progressing so quickly and may I point you towards Exhibit A the Astro Jets I mean just just look at it now if you've been to Disneyland at basically every point in its life cycle you know about the Astro Jets or something similar to them the Astro orbiter the Tomorrowland Jets or the rocket Jets unlike Walt Disney World's where they get a sweet Astro orbiter we have to go up into an elevator to reach it and it's super high up in the air the Astro Jets and the Astro orbiter are unfortunately on the ground now in the two iterations following the Astro Jets the Tomorrowland jets and the rocket Jets they actually moved to the right system on top of the people mover station giving you that extra height that Disney World has but it's not the attraction itself that I'm criticizing the spinny attractions are just fine and they're super fun to pass the time with no I'm talking about the look of the attraction you see if they called the Astro Jets the ocean spinner instead I'm not sure anybody would notice a difference it looks like you're writing torpedoes around a lighthouse to me it looks just so unique all right all right that's enough of me making fun of Tomorrowland we're gonna give them a little bit of a break and we're going to move over to Fantasyland now now kids in the area that is now today known as the Fantasyland theater where they show Mickey in the magical map used to be an area called vide obelisk now if you've seen any of my past videos you know that video palace is the reason you can find churros and the Disney parks to this day basically a very short version of the story is oh man how do we bring the kids into video Plus kids like churros all right let's bring some churros in that'll get them to video and that is the history of churros in the Disney park thank you thank you very much now here's a picture of the video palace venue and I know you're probably asking yourself well that looks awesome there is nothing I would rather do than sit in a metal folding chair for upwards of an hour and listen to music but here's something you might not have known you can dance to alright well this one doesn't come down to me hating the actual thing that's their video polish sounds fun and it sounds harmless they could just use the space a little better even today the Fantasyland theater is a large area that they could use for another attraction or another themed area even though vide appleís itself wasn't that bad I'm glad it's gone well would you look at that we're just blazing through this top 10 so on to the next attraction that I am glad has gone from Disneyland coming in at number 7 we are moving across the Esplanade to Disney's California Adventure and to more specifically Paradise Pier golden Dreams was a film presentation hosted by Whoopi Goldberg about the history of California please everyone contain your excitement now this is nothing against Whoopi Goldberg I love her I love her work but it's just a movie and it's boring I know it's got a good message and I know it's well produced but come on there's better things you can do with that space and Disney got the message apparently because crowds were declining so much they demolished the theater and replaced it with the Little Mermaid Ariel's undersea adventure the dark ride that stands there today now even though golden Dreams was a staple of early DC a back when it didn't quite know what it wanted to be I'm glad that it's not coming back anytime soon or at all because as time passes Disney is focusing more on the adventure part of the name rather than the California part of the name but because early DC is very easy to look back on and say what were they thinking we're going to stay in this California Adventure for our number six spot this next one is pretty infamous and you can probably see where I'm going with this super star limo was one of early DCA's e ticket attractions now if you need me to explain why this attraction is bad and why I'm glad it's gone not quite sure you understand what this is all about basically your horrifying abomination puppet agent would take you on a tour of Los Angeles and you'd see all the stars like Antonio Banderas Tim Allen Cher and Regis filmin now I'm not quite sure you know who those people are and I'm not quite sure I know who those people are but I do know that Antonio Banderas was in the best movie ever put to screen that's right Shrek 2 baby after seeing all the cheaply made sets at all the terrifying looking celebrities you would unload at the unloading zone and I assume would be very very confused just showing you guys this footage kind of cements my opinion that I'm glad this attraction is gone but this next one is going to be a little bit more on the controversial side number 5 on our list is the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's California Adventure Park whoa no wait hold on before you close out of the video please hear me out now I know putting the Tower of Terror on the same list as superstar limo is basically Disney heresy but it is not on this list for the reason you think it would be I am glad the Tower of Terror is gone not because I did not like the attraction in fact I loved it but I am glad it's gone because it is making way for a brand new DCA experience guardians of the galaxy mission breakout completely revamped the feel and style of the Reich which if mission breakout is any allusion to what we're going to be getting with the marvel addition to DCA I'm very excited do I miss the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror of course I'm not sure there's anybody out there who doesn't miss it and if you want to write a superior version of the attraction just go to Florida I know it's hard if you're a local but I mean if you're a local you get to go to Disneyland whenever you want so I mean that guess it kind of evens out you know staying in DC a 4 number 4 on our list the orange stringer over at Paradise Pier now I'm not quite sure what it is about Paradise Pier and Disney but Disney loves putting swing rides in that if you're familiar with Paradise Pier today just think of the silly symphony swings now imagine you're inside a dome and everything is orange and that is the orange stringer when Disney began redeeming the Paradise Pier area to reflect more Disney properties they changed the orange stringer into the silly symphony swings not only do the silly symphony swings make more sense in a story fashion you're part of the band concert Mickey Mouse short and as Mickey conducts the whole concert gets lifted up into the air and swings around a tornado hence the swinging but why Disney I ask you why and what the swinging have to do with an orange and for that reason I am glad the orange stringer is gone and I hope it never comes back to Paradise Pier well Pixar pier so I guess yeah that kind of cements its fate doesn't it now I think we're kind of done in DC so we're going to head back across the Esplanade to Disneyland for those of you who don't know there used to be an attraction in critter country that wasn't Splash Mountain that featured animatronic bears that is the country Bear Jamboree now before we all start to panic know the country Bear Jamboree is not number 3 on my list what is number 3 on my list is the country bear vacation hoedown now I saw the country Bear Jamboree the original country Bear Jamboree at Walt Disney World on my last visit but I have never seen the original country Bear Jamboree at Disneyland and I have never seen the country bear vacation hoedown but I watched the video that you're currently watching now and I must say that the original is leagues better basically the vacation hoedown was all the bears from the country Bear Jamboree reminiscing about their favorite places to vacation yeah the country Bear Jamboree vacation hoedown was sort of a permanent overlay and it lasted until the country Bear Jamboree shut down completely in Disneyland in 2001 now if I could wish an attraction back into existence at Disneyland it would be the country Bear Jamboree well it'd be journey through in her space but it would be the country Bear Jamboree after that okay well it actually be the people mover before journey through interface and then journey through interspace and then like way down the list would be the country bear I would love the country Bear Jamboree to return to Disneyland as what we should be taking away from this but there is one thing that I would not like to return to Disneyland and that is the country bear vacation hoedown just bring back the original that's that's all that's number three now if you know me you know that I have some opinions on the Autopia but for the most part I think it's a wonderful attraction it just takes up way too much space but you know what attraction was really weird the rescue Ranger Raceway try saying that ten times fast the Raceway as I'm going to call it was a version of the Autopia in Fantasyland except it was Chip and Dale themed and the track was super short eventually the rescue Ranger theme was removed and the Fantasyland track was combined with the Tomorrowland track to form the Autopia we know today but if you were to ever bring back an overlay to the Autopia may I suggest something that is not chipmunk related so that Chip and Dale Autopia is number two on our list what pray tell can top a Chip and Dale themed racecar attraction in Fantasyland well I am very glad you asked number one on our list the one that you have all been waiting for Innoventions now I can't fault the Imagineers here with interventions it was a great idea it just doesn't age very well intervention still kinda exists in one form or another at Walt Disney World in Epcot where interventions used to show you a sneak preview of the future and new technology coming to the world now it's just a Star Wars show building and with rumors spreading of its demolition to add even more attractions to Tomorrowland I can't say I'm really upset about it leaving Tomorrowland is the lens that needs the most change in the entire resort so I can completely understand the demolition of interventions to add on more experiences but the original spirit of inventions and innovation will always remain in our hearts so everybody what did you think of this do you agree
