it's often known as the happiest place on earth when people think of Disney parks they usually think of princesses and pirates wonderful food and fanciful music what they usually don't think about is the darker side of Disney aliens ripping apart maintenance workers before your very eyes deadly decapitations and sometimes maybe a scary-looking bug come on it's okay they're gone they can't hurt you anymore while Disneyland and Walt Disney World are the dream vacation destinations of millions of people each year they can also be nightmarish in ways what you don't believe me okay well today I will be taking you through a tour of some of the scariest most disturbing things that can be found in the Disney parks all over the world starting with something that's a bit closer to home than you'd think these are the scariest things at the Disney parks were originally designed as a tie-in with Ridley Scott's alien franchise the working title of this attraction was known as Nostromo this idea was later scrapped and to the Weiland corporation from the alien movies was turned into excess tech and the popular xenomorph was turned into a more generic spider bat scorpion looking thing fear not though when it comes to Nightmare fuel this ride is chock-full of it pitch-black darkness sudden loud noises jolting motions and of course that poor poor maintenance worker for those unaware a live cast member would make it appearance in the ride similar to sweetums in Muppet vision 3d although sweetums probably wasn't eaten alive by an alien oh yeah spoiler alert the cast member was eaten alive by an alien [Music] [Music] pretty neat huh when the chairman of the company responsible for teleportation technology excess tech decides at the last minute to take a trip to the Magic Kingdom things begin to go awry because of this last-minute change the teleportation signal is sent to an unknown planet instead bringing guests face to face with a giant insect like alien when the giant creature knocks out the power of maintenance worker the cast member from before is set to switch it all back on the alien attacks and a fluid is sprayed on the audience presumably the workers blood a little graphic there the creature would make its way around the room and guests could feel its weight breath and drool on them as it did when the power is turned back on the alien is driven back into the teleportation tube which is then overpowered causing the giant bug bat to explode the ride had to be tweaked a few times before opening to make the pre-show more sinister in order to dissuade those who may be frightened by the actual show you know the alien might be super scary looking but just think about it from his perspective okay the poor guy was probably just going about his day before being teleported into a claustrophobic glass tube surrounded by tiny screaming creatures I mean of course he'd be a little frustrated wouldn't we all know while the extra-terrestrial alien encounter is a bit more in-your-face scary the next entry on our list is a bit more atmospheric and I'm not talking small world when one thinks of haunted mazes our haunted houses odds are they think of Universal Studios and not Walt Disney World and that's true they've never had one at Walt Disney World to my knowledge but the story changes a bit would you hop over to hong kong disneyland in 2016 and 2017 disney opened up a few scare houses turning your favorite disney characters and properties into something twisted something scary from Hercules to Toy Story 2 The Princess and the Frog there are no wonderful childhood memories that are off-limits here now upon inspection I can say that these haunted houses are little less intense than Universal Studios or maybe a local one you go down to every Halloween there are way less scare actors and you know because it's Disney there isn't a ton of gore or graphic content like you'd find in a universal haunted house I wouldn't know though I've actually never been to Universal the tour is led by multiple characters but the main character is a man named professor woo he sends you into the most nightmarish Disney realms I guess to test your progress whatever that means but essentially the professor is using the guests as crash-test dummies to provoke the Disney villains the nightmare experiment ran for two seasons in 2016 and 2017 respectively and has not returned since maybe they wanted to test it in Hong Kong before bringing it over to the American parks or more than likely they decided it wasn't worth the time and money and scrapped the idea altogether but if you're interested I have some videos linked below that I'm using in this video right here that you're watching if you want to watch a full walkthrough of the nightmare experience scenes but with all that being said maybe someday we will see the nightmare experiment re materialize in Hong Kong or maybe even the American parks with more characters and more importantly more scares but hey if Disney's looking for another after-hours event to charge guests for and they want to find a use for the old millenium Village at Epcot I've got a good idea mmm but until then we can only hope that the nightmare experiment will return in some form in the future because this dark take on Disney characters is something that apparently resonated very well with fans out in Hong Kong also you could put a Black Cauldron segment in there because that's definitely the scariest Disney movie of all time and we'll hold on speaking of the Black Cauldron staying in the foreign parks but moving from China to Japan now we find ourselves at Cinderella Castle at Tokyo Disneyland for the Cinderella Castle mystery tour and I'm sure you have seen defunct lines video on this he does an amazing job going into the details in the history of this terrifying and honestly kind of interesting attraction but I'm going to give you a quick rundown of the attraction here and hopefully by the end you will realize why this is one of these scariest rides Disney has ever built you know but besides Snow White at Disneyland the castle mystery tour is a walkthrough attraction featuring animatronics and displays from classic Disney movies the tour begins with a cast member telling you about how they're going to take you through the upper levels of Cinderella Castle showing you different props and scenes belonging to different Disney movies like Pinocchio Sleeping Beauty Snow White and of course the Black Cauldron you know the Black Cauldron the 1985 blockbuster spectacular Disney classic that everybody knows about okay well the reception was a little less warm than that but the film is infamous as Disney's lowest point after Walt died and before the Disney Renaissance beginning with the Little Mermaid in 1989 and because the film came out a year prior to the attractions opening of course they had to work it in somehow I mean you guys all know how frozen went now just imagine that frozen failed critically and financially and you essentially have yourself the mystery tour before the cast member can take you on your magical tour through Cinderella Castle the magic mirror appears and says that a hero is nothing without their villain the portraits of these classic beloved Disney characters are transformed into ones of their enemies a secret passage then opens down into the dark depths of the castle and the mirror challenges us to face these villains do we really have to do this right now magic mirror I mean I'm on vacation I have a Fastpass in 20 minutes and I really don't feel like fighting the forces of evil we're then shuffled through various scenes like the Evil Queen's laboratory from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Bald Mountain from Fantasia and Maleficent's castle on the forbidden mountain not Mount Everest from Sleeping Beauty each time being scared along to the next scene by various goons and creatures popping out upon escaping from Maleficent goons guests enter an elevator and then exit in a hallway decorated with tapestries depicting the legend of the Black Cauldron the magic mirror coax his guests into a room beside the tapestries and a child is given the sword of light from the movie to wield against the forces of the Black Cauldron that they may or may not encounter spoiler alert we do meet up with the Horned King and the Black Cauldron upon seeing us the Horned King laughs a terrible evil laugh and goes on to deliver probably the most metal quote of any Disneyland attraction ever created and now everyone here it is everyone welcome in this Black Cauldron everything in the world is controlled do not be afraid it will all be over hopefully no one can escape from here and he'll be sacrificed to the Black Cauldron Oh Satan's killed awaken and resurrect the soldiers of death rebuild an army without rivals the army of death rise the Devils servants go and capture them and throw them into the cauldron don't leave anyone behind the Black Cauldron wants more bodies I swear to the death nobody can destroy me capture those fools and gratify the Black Cauldron see pretty spooky stuff but at the last moment right before the Horned King is about to kill all the guests and make them join his army of the Dead in the Black Cauldron the child holding the Sword of Light pointed at the Horned King and destroys him once and for all we can only hope upon leaving the Horned King's room guests passed by a sign of the sword that says good conquers evil I guess the point of the sign was keeping the children from being forever tormented and traumatized by the mystery tour just for the next couple weeks instead the child who was given the Sword of Light was then relieved of the sort of light and given a special Hero medal a medal that you can still find readily available on eBay to this very day the castle mystery tour was very similar to the nightmare experiment aimed more of families but sort of the same idea a walkthrough attraction meant to scare and excite guests the tour closed forever in 2006 and was replaced by Cinderella's fairy tale hall a more family-friendly child appropriate walkthrough mainly featuring murals from Cinderella but it will live on forever in our minds as a remnant of Disney's weird 80s era of animation and to the countless nightmares that it gave children over the years memories that will never fade but what about you what are the scariest things you have personally experienced at the Disney parks and don't say the prices seriously let me know down in the comments below and always remember that if you forget who the Horned King is you're not alone who-who is he I've been talking about this whole time I don't know who he is hello
