6 ABANDONED Disney Attractions That Are Still Standing

wall who comes to this happy place welcome Disney of course is a company that's known for their attention to detail whether it's the theming of a certain land or attraction or the food that you can find in that land because let's face it buffalo wings are totally the food of the future Tomorrowland Disney sure knows how to female land and that's what really separates them from other industries in the theme-park business there's this really interesting thing Disney likes to do with old extinct attractions and that's not to tear them down and rebuild new attractions in their stead no that would be too easy instead Disney likes to leave former attractions laying around almost in their entirety backstage blocked off from viewers so today I figured we'd talk about some Disney attractions that are still there and you could still go visit but I highly recommend you don't because you'll probably get kicked out or banned from the park so this is my official statement do not sneak into areas you're supposed to not be in because that would be really bad for you and you'd get in a lot of trouble go ahead and attribute that to me now most of these attractions for some reason are in Walt Disney World as opposed to being in Disneyland that's just because they have a lot more room to work with in Disney World so I'm assuming that they don't need all of the attractions to be operating at maximum capacity and all the time so they can just keep some clothes to not do anything with them for 20 years you know that's until a very intrepid urban explorer sneaks back there and gets all the sweet sweet footage of these shut down Disney rides so that's what I'm gonna be showing you guys today seriously buffalo wings and cheeseburger pizza is this what Disney has in mind when they're talking about the food of the future oh sorry um anyways everybody here are six abandoned Disney attractions that are still standing today number one brings us to the granddaddy of abandoned attractions at Walt Disney World and that of course is Epcot when Epcot opened in 1982 it featured two distinct lands the World Showcase which is still there today and future world which is I mean kind of still there today I guess the future world that we have at Epcot today is very different from the one that was at Epcot Center on opening day now the first attraction on our list didn't actually open until 1989 but it still counts as an abandoned Disney attraction that's still there because I mean it's a band at Disney attraction that's still there stop testing me people okay I'm sorry I'm sorry I just get really emotional when I talk about cranium command now a lot of you guys probably remember creating him command I on the other hand do not even though it was open until 2007 I probably went on it don't remember it though now if you're wondering what cranium command was just picture inside out except with the different emotions being different people it was the different body parts being different people you had commander buzzie the left brain the right brain the hungry stomach the bladder the adrenal gland the left and right ventricles and of course you had the very exciting and very upbeat hypothalamus now this attraction taught you how the parts of the human body work together to form who you are on the inside and on the outside it was a very old classic Disney attraction that unfortunately got closed down in 2007 but did Disney tear down cranium commands did they repurpose the theater or anything that was left over from the attraction oh but of course not as you can see in this video graciously provided by youtuber mats on SWA cranium command is still very much there and the sets are all still very much intact even Buzzy's face is still lit up from his chair which is a little unnerving if you ask me so let's just move right on ahead from this because I'm getting a little creeped out looking at that guy's face you know looking back I probably could have combined number one and number two into one single entry and just called it the wonders of life pavilion because here at the wonders of life pavilion to the left of mission space is body Wars now if you've never seen or heard of the wonders of life pavilion obviously it's really old and it's been shut down for a long time but sometimes they'll reopen it during flower and garden or food and wine festival for a festival center it is when the wonders of life pavilion is open where you can get a closer look at cranium command as I already mentioned and body wars now I'm not sure if you can get into the old simulators of body wars basically it was the same style attraction as Star Tours just instead of flying through space you fly through the human body pretty simple stuff also very gross I may make a video on body wars in the future I'll just call it the grossest Disney attraction ever it grossest to word now I'm gonna say this now keep in mind that cranium command and body wars are both off-limits to the public so don't go trying to sneak back into these attractions because again you will get caught and I do not want to be held responsible but just between us I don't think you'll get a ban or get kicked out of the park if you just peek behind the curtain just real quick just a quick peek I don't think that's that's that I think that's okay now the cue for body wars used to feature you going through scanners and different types of machinery on your way to the pod those scanners are still there today though obviously they're not working but you get to the loading zone and the doors are closed and locked who knows though the simulator may still be in that room unused and dusty to this day so yeah if you guys ever want a taste of raw vintage mid-1980s Epcot whenever you get the chance just going to the wonders of life pavilion there's so many interesting things to look at in there especially body Wars which is the grossest yeah yeah grossest ride that in my personal opinion Disney has ever made now finally with number three we get to go all the way across the United States to Anaheim California to my home park Disneyland no I've talked about this shuttered and abandoned attraction many times before but I feel like I could not overstate this enough because if any Disney executive is watching this video please bring it back we all know what what I'm talking about we're talking about the People Mover now usually when I talk about the People Mover all discuss its history but today I want to talk about where it still stands we all know that it's shuttered and closed down and it probably won't return any time soon but I'm gonna look at the tracks today I'm gonna look at the things that are still standing that represent the People Mover number one the loading bay now as you can clearly see from the tomorrow landing or anywhere around Tomorrowland there is a large circular platform with a long beam jutting out towards the entrance of Tomorrowland this massive circular platform is the old loading bay for the people mover there'd be a revolving stage up there and guess what step onto the people mover very similar to how they did at Walt Disney World or I suppose how they still do at Walt Disney World because it's still open over there if you pay very close attention while you walk around Tomorrowland even while you're in line for Space Mountain you can see the old track of the people mover above your head even while you're riding the monorail or riding the Autopia look to your left or to your right and it's usually above you and you'll see an old metal trap these are the remains of the people mover a very easygoing attraction that would give you scenic views of Tomorrowland unfortunately of course these tracks aren't up to code anymore and they're covered in debris like leaves and trash so Disney would have to tear the entire track and loading bay down in order to build up a new people mover which I hope they do sometime in the near future but until then we have the old abandoned track of the people mover to look at admire and cry over of course [Music] for number four we are sticking in Tomorrowland at Disneyland and we are going towards the Star Wars launch Bay as it's known today or as it was formerly known America sings or the Carousel of Progress or interventions one of the three take your pick now the structure of interventions or America sings or the Carousel of Progress is still standing to this day but if rumors hold true it won't be that way for very long you see the first floor of interventions used to rotate like a carousel which is why I guess they called it the carousel theater when General Electric moved the Carousel of Progress to Walt Disney World's Tomorrowland America sings moved in and it didn't really fit the tone of Tomorrowland so eventually they closed it also something tying it into the last entry on our list the Tron SuperSpeed tunnels segment of the People Mover ride went through the second story of the carousel theatre interventions then opened in 1998 and it was very similar to the interventions you could find at Epcot unfortunately though because it was so similar it meant that interventions became outdated very quickly interventions then became a place where they showcased Iron Man armor and things from the Marvel Cinematic Universe before becoming Star Wars launch Bay unfortunately though it has been rumored that interventions will be coming down very soon with the addition of new Tomorrowland in Disneyland hopefully before the Disneyland 70th anniversary so I for one say goodbye interventions you will be missed and well you tried your best and that's all we could really ask going back to the father of all abandoned attractions we're heading to Epcot in Florida and going over to the imagination pavilion now of course journey into imagination was a very classic Epcot ride that will be missed but we're not going to be talking about the attraction today no we're gonna be talking about the post-show after exiting journey into imagination you would go upstairs into a little place I like to call Imageworks well I mean I guess that's what it was officially called it wasn't just me who called it that now I know what you're saying to yourself you're saying Dalin Imageworks is still there no I'm talking about a different image works you guys are thinking of the image works what if maps those are on the first floor of the attraction but the image works I'm talking about was there when journey into imagination opened and was on the second story now is gone but if you look through a certain grade on the wall you can see what's left over of the once imaginative Superfund place he could play after getting off journey into imagination now it's a Disney Vacation Club lounge it just makes me wonder how much of the old image works is still up there and how much of it still well image works Disney has since covered up the great to keep you from looking into the old image works but I mean it'll all still be alive in our imaginations right guys okay moving on the last entry on our list is sort of infamous in the Disney Parks fandom we're going to be talking about the abandoned water park at Walt Disney World River Country now I made a very very old video about River Country where I go a little bit more in depth you could see that here if you want to take a look at it but very quickly River Country was an old Disney water park that was attached itself to Bay Lake and was part of the Fort Wilderness campground River Country closed in 2001 not because of a brain-eating ameba but because its water park just wasn't doing that well compared to typhoon lagoon and Blizzard Beach the park incorporated water from Bay Lake into its attractions and slides so I guess the water was very very cold which makes me not want to go already as you can see from these multiple urban exploration videos that have been taken over country it's all still there and it's very dry and nature is very slowly taking back control over the Florida swampland on March 5th 2018 Disney officially filed permits for a new mystery development labeled project 89 to be built along Bay Lake and built over where River Country stands today and what is the mythical project 89 that is replacing the legendary River Country it's a DVC resort well I mean there's always next time so for the very near future you can walk up to the fence and peer over it and take a closer look at River Country just don't go in because again
