Howdy Folks no man's Sky 4.5 Omega is finally in our hands well it's been for a while and I think it's fair to say it's not exactly what everyone expected after that epic tease at the game awards in December you know the one right before the light no Fire trailer after that a lot of folks have been looking forward to the new space stations myself included of course despite those still being on the way Omega manages to impress with some subtler changes to the game it's an update full of smaller quality of life improvements that might look a bit sparse at first but it becomes denser upon closer inspection so let's inspect from ownable Pirate dreadnots to new story missions these are the 10 coolest things added in no man's Sky Omega according to me kaju you might have your own list so feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below I'll throw in my two sentence review of the update as well at the very end so this video is like a two for one special thanks is always to valued members of the channel for your support thank you so much and to all of my subscribers and longtime viewers thanks for your continued support so let's get to the list number 10 free to play well it kind of felt like Omega lacked a big headline grabbing feature in Truth No Man's sky going free to play even for a weekend was pretty big news by the time you're watching this that initial trial period has ended but hell games didn't spend all that time and effort to produce a feature that they'd only use for 4 days in fact as I wrote this script it was announced that no man's Sky Omega Expedition would go free to play for a second weekend although again that's already passed by the time we're watching this video I'm expecting them to host even more trial periods in the future likely coinciding with upcoming updates and Expeditions it's a brilliant idea if you think about it and 4 days you can get a pretty good taste of what no man sky has to offer but it's practically impossible to see it all so if you enjoy it even a little bit I mean it's going to leave you wanting more expeditions also do a good job of showcasing lots of different game systems very quickly if you tried the game for the first time during this trial period please leave a comment below with your experience cuz honestly I'm curious did you end up buying the game do you already own it on another platform did you complete the Expedition let me know number nine the starborn runner fans of cool looking Starships rejoice because this is one cool looking Starship it has a cool cockpit cool hover effects cool engines and cool decals this one is particularly special it's a Joe Danger Easter egg for those who aren't aware the Joe Danger games were Hello Games first games before they created no man's Sky they were pretty well received if I'm not mistaken I think this is the first Joe Danger Easter egg in the game though which is pretty cool I wouldn't mind them adding this out to the exocraft customization menu I mean seems like a good fit right and heck you know might as well let us use it in our bases if we want to build a Raceway you could even give it some weird unlock requirements or something anyways in addition to the exterior the interior of the ship is pretty cool too well not the cockpit though I do appreciate the pre-installed Polo bobblehead but the tech within the ship that right there is a photonics core now I have been wanting one of these for over 7 years you see this Tech was originally part of a pre-order bonus for the original PS4 launch in 2016 there were some rare ways of requiring it in game but in general it was exclusive to that pre-order bonus now I won't recount my no man's Sky origin story I have a video for that believe it or not but suffice to say I forgot to pre-order the game and thus I missed out on that exclusive Tech so that slot in my catalog was always empty I mean back when it was in the catalog and it's been empty for 7 years but finally it's filled in and actually I I packaged it from my starborn runner in the Expedition and transferred it to my main save at the end and now I have a photonics core in my golden vector and let me tell you it just such a beautiful feeling happy days before I move on I also wanted to mention that the starship's design just overall it really really looks like it's teasing Starship races or something similar now I know I know I shouldn't speculate right I shouldn't read into Sean retweeting this fan mockup of the starborn runner in I think that's wipe out I just think it would be neat it's all let's carry on number eight AutoPage NPC staffs fans of the echo's update key art Rejoice because the autof Fage NPCs found at camps can now carry their own procedural staffs just like in the key art besides looking super sweet it also makes perfect sense right building your own staff is a tradition among the AutoPage so it's kind of odd that the traveler was the only person in the camp carrying one around it also makes these already highly variable NPCs even more variable funny enough it also marks the first time we've ever seen an NPC equip a multi-tool like of any kind sure they seemingly use something akin to NPCs with multi-tools and some of the update trailers but this is the first time we see it in game now I won't be jumping to any conclusions about NPC's holding weapons though don't worry I enjoy a good stretch before workout but that's a bit too far number seven Expedition rewards Expedition 12 features some pretty unique rewards besides the awesome ship I'm also not just talked about the phase rewards you can redeem across saves however I will start with those the atlas flight pack and head Shield are pretty cool but it's the atlas scepter that I find most exciting and I'll give you two reasons why first off it's the first ever multi-tool Expedition reward that we've ever gotten so that's historic right also comes with the runic lens pre-installed now that piece of tech is exclusive to the Atlant class of multitools so this is the only non- Atlant multitool in the game that has a runic lens combine that with the unique visuals and animations and this is possibly the most unique multitool we have in the game at this moment another surprise from this Expedition are the creature eggs given as rewards for the optional objectives these include companions that were previously exclusive to past Expeditions and twitch drops research project two gives you a Helios egg we I love the this is an official feature it's so silly research project 3 gives you a sandworm egg research project 4 gives you a sentinel quad and research project 5 gives you a whispering companion those are some amazing bonuses the quad in particular is my favorite companion in the game you may have also noticed that each bonus objective grants you 900 Quicksilver 900 each that's 4,500 Quicksilver from optional objectives alone and then Expedition phases 2 through 5 also Grant 1,200 Quicks overreach which is an additional 4,800 uh at the end of the Expedition I think it totaled what is this 10,800 Quicks silver that is quite a lot of Quicks silver considering it's one of the few it's the only currency in the game that's like time limited you can only earn so much per week and as someone who doesn't engage in the nex's Quicksilver missions that often I appreciate the Boon now this isn't the first time in Expeditions granted Quicksilver as a reward right however it's the most we've ever seen and it's the first time it actually matters to most players since we can actually bring this Quicks back to our primary save this time I mean that loone makes the playthrough worth it for me besides all the other cool stuff which I really enjoy number six catalog improvements now I'm not kidding they made three great improvements to the catalog in this update firstly they added something I've always wanted a way to look through all my Expedition Patches at once I love collecting patches right I used to be a Boy Scout and I loved you know getting patches and now that I'm an adult I love collecting Expedition patches uh I've always wanted a place to display them in the game right and yeah I've tried putting them in various bases over the years but this is much cleaner I also find it interesting that beach heads patches the fake out one instead of the Normandy one that we actually received but otherwise it's really cool it helps Tha Expeditions back into the core experience much the same way the pirate and AutoPage faction challenges do the other two changes I want to mention are to the Wonders catalog first off glyphs are now displayed for every Discovery in your wonders catalog not just the planetary or custom ones well not every Discovery but like flora fauna all those types so now it's even simpler than ever to revisit your most outstanding discoveries on top of that the gy in which it was discovered is also listed these are some pretty simple additions but I'm sure they'll mean a lot to the explorers and catalogers Among Us I've been happy to see Hello Games improving the catalog little by little over the past couple years it's slowly becoming a more robust way of celebrating player Discovery and accomplishment which is important for a game like this where everyone's journey is so different but all righty we're halfway through the list and you know what that means obligatory asking you to like and subs subscribe break ready here it goes if you're enjoying the video so far please consider leaving a like and subscribing thanks for your support all right back to the list number five planetary NPC missions one of omega's most prominently promoted new features is the addition of new procedural NPC missions on planets the patch notes read quote alien life forms offer rewards for a huge array of new planet AR missions with objectives specific to the aliens personality as well as their home planet's climate geography and ecology that sounds pretty awesome funny enough despite this being somewhat of a headline feature I personally haven't been able to find one of these new Mission givers at all and trust me you can ask uh the people watching my stream I did look but you know that's okay because thanks to the magic of the internet I can live vicariously through others from what I've gathered these new missions are pretty pretty simple in nature they utilize the same interface as the new auto Fage missions added in Echo no man's Sky resources has compiled a list of mission types based on the game files now I won't spoil them for you here but if you're interested I'll leave a link to the resource in the description I will say that there seems to be a pretty good variety of mission types and objectives nothing complicated or particularly Innovative but such a range of possibilities paired with the relative uncommonness of these Mission givers means that players unlikely to burn out on them anytime soon I'm not sure what the full range of rewards are yet so let me know your experiences in the comments below also I thought I should mention that while this particular version of planetary NPC missions are new the game did in fact have planetary NPC missions prior to this update lost person cases fighting Pirates and other such missions could be encountered at random before however they didn't have the same Snappy interface so it often felt more like a favor than a side quest I'm happy with this because I've always wanted to see more procedural side quests I built my own procedural Mission generator prototype for a video last year in fact check out that video after this one if you're interested in even more possibilities now if we could just get Hello Games to take this new NPC mission system and combine it with the NPCs in our settlements now that would be cool number four the atlas path light spoilers ahead for the atlas path though most of this is actually written in the patch notes or just showed in the trailer feel free to skip ahead to number three using the time codes below though if you prefer okay just the interested folks here now so funny enough I think this bullet point in particular might be where the update gets its name Omega Omega is commonly associated with endings and the Omega update makes some changes to the end of the atlas path one of the game's primary quest lines first off are the visuals I normally wouldn't show something this late in the game in a video like this but it's in the trailer and it's in the patch notes so if you've seen the trailer read the patch notes or already beat the game it's really not much of a spoiler honestly it looks great the second part of the atlas path rework is the final choice I won't go into details but the patch notes read quote the classic Atlas path Mission has been given a new Breath of Life culminating in a final consequential Choice Witness the atlas in all its Grandeur and decide whether to embrace the path it offers or deny it either path will permanently impact your relationship with the atlas now the repeating mission is a simple one where you share your discoveries with the atlas for some Fair rewards honestly I think it's great you probably didn't know this but I've been avoiding completing the atlas path on my main save since I didn't want to lose interactions with Atlas interfaces I say I didn't want to complete it I'm pretty sure I completed it back in the day pre Atlas Rises but you know the the save has been upgraded so many times I lose progress on things and that's not important but now Atlas interfaces they're a part of the end game so I can go ahead and complete it worry free players also have the chance to turn the atlas down as the patch note stated and doing so will unlock a unique piece of tech with its own interactions with the atlas but I won't spoil that here and not just because I don't have a footage of it uh number three pirate dreadnots while this one isn't at number one it might be my personal favorite edition of course I'm talking about the ability to command deer pirate dreadnots I can't believe it um for those who are newer to the game we've had the same ownable freighter since 2016 when the foundation update first gave them to us almost 8 years of updates and this is the first new freighter model we've been able to own granted they did update all freighter interor interiors and exterior visuals in 2022 endurance update but they all shared the same hanger and Bridge designs as always we finally have something different just like the outlaw stations added in 2022 these new pirate Interiors give us a look at the darker side of No Man's Sky literally I love the darker lighting the red lights on the bridge feel especially appropriate for a war vessel the outside of the freighter is also surprisingly customizable there's a good sele ction of patterns inspired by classic Sci-fi vessels and probably some old Naval vessels as well a new interaction has also been added to dreadn battles to facilitate this update when you lower dreadnots Health enough and ensure it's unable to escape you'll have the option to Parlay in addition to destroying it for the usual Bounty when you board you'll again have two choices you can either take command of the dread knot or demand payment for sparing their lives now I haven't tried tried demanding payment and then exiting and blowing them up for the Bounty anyway so let me know if yall have and let me know how it went altogether dreadn battles are probably the coolest scenarios in the game you have two Capital ships locked in battle multiple destructible FRS on both sides pirate Starships space Torpedoes multiple ship systems to disable separately trench runs and tons of different endings where the rewards vary from money to upgrades to new frig to address not itself I love to see it number two the Expedition Terminus this was the big ticket item advertised as a primary feature of this update the Expedition Terminus in a nutshell you no longer have to create a completely new save file to play Expeditions instead you can play Expeditions through your existing saves the Terminus allows you to start your Expedition from the space anomaly on top of that you can provide Provisions in the form of of cargo and package Tech that you can later retrieve within the Expedition this is especially helpful for Milestones that require you to construct specific Tech or acquire specific items once inside the Expedition reaching the Terminus grants you access to those items however it also gives you the option to clone your primary saves multitool and Starship complete with upgrades and Tech installed cloning them costs nanites which helps to keep things balanced but it's still an awesome ability you can also pause your Expedition and return to your primary save whenever you like either from the Terminus or the pause menu you can then return When the fancy strikes these improvements may seem inconsequential to players uninterested in Expeditions but for the rest of us this is game-changing stuff hell games have addressed so many complaints players had with Expeditions we no longer have to clear safe slots to play Expeditions we can take some of our acquired wealth and upgrades with us when you start the expedition ition from the Terminus who also keep your character's appearance which is cool discoveries and bases are also shared from your Expedition to your primary save wealth acquired during the Expedition such as unique items packaged Tech and even currency including Quicksilver can also be transferred to your main Save which means that expedition progress now contributes to your main progression that's awesome especially the Quicksilver as previously mentioned completed Expeditions are now cataloged in your Milestones on all saves all of this combines to make Expeditions feel like a properly integrated part of the game rather than just some bonus game mode but Hello Games didn't stop there when you complete an expedition you now get this awesome summary screen that tallies up all of your stats and accomplishments and Deals actual rewards it also summarizes the rewards you earned at the end of each phase feels so polished and cool and it makes the completion feel more significant at least to me and you know what it also fits the theme of Omega by giving us a cooler ending to Expeditions sneaky sneaky all right so we have one item left you ready mentally physically let's do this number one biscuits new man's Sky Omega added like a dozen or so new biscuit I'm just kidding I don't I don't talk like that but yeah n and Sky Omega added like a dozen or so new biscuit recipes yum yum in my T they look more like macaron and they're really cookies but Hello Games calls them biscuits because you know they're very English over there I wish they had more visual variety even just different colors and I wish they actually showed up in my catalog of cooking products and I wish kronis like mine better but overall it's a positive addition biscuits and that's it for my list of the 10 coolest things added in no man's Sky Omega upon reflection I might have gotten number one and number 10 mixed up since there's a one in both those numbers but eh nothing I can do about it now what about you what are your favorite additions in no man's Sky Omega did you try it while it was free to play and end up buying the game did you beat the Expedition the atlas path have you tried those new NPC missions which biscuit recipe is your favorite I can probably guess most people's but I want to hear yours and did you get the same bug I got where you're unable to move at all after the Expedition completes I learned through the subri it that dying while in that Frozen State actually fixes it so most folks get the Hostile Sentinels to kill you on that last Rendevous planet or you can do what I did which was set up the shelter next to an underwater vent since the endgame prompt won't trigger while you're underwater it waits until you have air so I put the shelter here because it uses is a cube for its indoor breathable space and a small corner of that sticks out which gives you breathable air outside of the shelter just in the smallest corner so I stood in that corner to trigger the ending right which worked then the force of that underwater vent damaged me and pushed me out of that little air bubble and then it was just a matter of time I was able to retrieve my gear and I even got a new tidle out of it which uh cool but yeah they need to fix that bug ASAP anyway I don't think I'll do a review of No Man's Sky Omega like a full video review I agree with the majority of folks who took my poll I think it's great for a small update some great improvements to existing features but nothing altogether new of course nothing wrong with that I just don't need a whole video to say those two sentences as always please consider liking the video If you enjoyed it if you're interested in more No Man's sky or sci-fi gaming content deep Dives stuff like that
