good day to you god bless you welcome to the shepherds chapel welcome to this family bible study hour praise god we've been waiting on you we're ready to get into our father's word we thank our father we ask a word of wisdom in jesus precious name amen if it seems i'm a little out of breath i just barely made it from a few miles away so chapter 15 16 rather 15 what was it 14 16 15 16 14 we got to in the last lecture in this great book of samuel and how precious it is his word the key to david it's important that you know that key to david and as we start this 14th verse i want you to make a note that it should follow chapter 19 9. i will explain that as we go because david has basically just been anointed he's a small boy or you know a teenager and we have an insert here as to the condition of saul let's go with it and you'll understand why chapter 16 verse 14 and it reads but the spirit of the lord departed from saul and an evil spirit from the lord troubled him now where was this evil spirit from the evil spirit was from the lord you read it right the holy spirit left him and in came the evil spirit what is god trying to teach saul god has not i supposed to say god has turned his back on and would be incorrect because saul still loves our father but in as much as saul being the king and responsible with orders to utterly destroy all let the very evil spirit that evil man ag live samuel had to kill him himself saul likes bad spirits god allows him to have one you invite one in god will allow it to happen many people say well god wouldn't send a bad spirit he'll allow it and it would seem as much as saul liked to play hands he's with them he's given him one verse 15 and saul's servants said unto him behold now an evil spirit from god troubleth thee 16 want to make another footnote on that a lot of people say an evil spirit from god what do you think satan is all evil spirits flow outwardly from satan satan as well as the other angels appear before god as recorded in the book of job so it is no mystery to god when evil spirits proceed forth or who they affect he knows therefore he is present he allows it you play with fire you get burned verse 16 let our lord now command thy servants which are before thee this is to saul to seek out a man who is a cunning player on a harp and it shall come to pass when the evil spirit from god is upon thee that he shall play with his hand and thou shalt be well god has a wonderful way of leading whom he will he chose here to lead saul's servants verse 17 and saul said unto his servants provide me now a man that can play well and bring him to me he didn't want relief so certainly even as much as god had made him a different man in a prior chapter he's made a different man again and saul's aware of it because he had enjoyed the good anyone that has been filled with the holy spirit as saul was mightily when he rode and led his armies knows the old depression of something demonic verse 18 then answered one of the servants and said behold i have seen a son of jesse the bethlehemite that is cunning and plain and a mighty violent man and a man of war and prudent in matters and a calmly person handsome attractive and the lord is with him now you as a student know that because of the way so uh david is the as as he has described here that we're not talking about the david we know that is a mere lad we're talking a man that's a mighty man of war this would have to have happened after the battle with goliath naturally so that's that's fine that's well and good the scribes seem well defeated in here and i think it's to show david in contrast to saul david can drive out that that is evil and saul absorbs that that is evil and you begin to see the foundation why david was a man after god's own heart and why the very key to the scriptures the key to the truth lies within this one david the key to david opens doors that no man can close 19. for saul sent messengers unto jesse and he said send me david thy son which is with the sheep verse 20 and jesse took an ass laden with bread naturally if you sin to the king you send gifts and a bottle of wine and a kid and sent them by david his son unto saul to saul the king saul as god had in as much as he was the first king what had god given through samuel that message to the people that when they wanted to accept a man king and refuse him almighty god yahweh as king that a manservant a man king that is to say would bring a curse upon them would take this would take that their own sons their own daughters therefore people feared saul in that respect and no doubt this is the reason jesse was trying to set david in an array of good gifts 21 and david came to saul and stood before him and he left him greatly saul took a liking to the lad and he became his armor barrier bearer now you must remember that for a man to allow someone to be his armor bearer is one that even helps the man put the armor on and catches that man at his weakest moment at that time that the blade of the knife can be slipped between his shoulder blades for he is a man that the wearer of or bearer of the armor must turn his back to even in placing the armor on and in place the reason i bring that out is to show you how saul trusted this one david he trusted him with his very life verse 22 and saul sent to jesse saying let david i pray thee stand before me for he hath found favor in my sight what that is is a nice way of saying i have taken your son all right verse 23 and it came to pass when the evil spirit from god was upon saul that david took a harp and played with his hand so saul was refreshed what does that mean the evil spirit could not stand the presence of the holy spirit of almighty god in that one david and was well and the evil spirit departed from him god's spirit that was in this one david overshadowed overpowered the evil spirit that was and had taken over saul at these moments of and there we will find that they would drive him to fits of rage now as we continue chapter 17 you must remember that chronologically it follows verse 13 in other words it follows where we completed the last lecture so with that thought in mind let's read how it came to pass that david was known as such a man of war okay let's go with it chapter 17 in verse 1. now the philistines gathered together their armies to battle and were gathered together in shoko which belongs to judah it belongs to judah and pitched between shoko and azeelka as between that and zilka in ephes dem now the fest down him means simply a cessation of bloodshed so you'll see a message within this this location means dug over such as you would dig a trench over and shoko means to be hedged up or to be bushy or simply an entwine or a thorny hedge so we see this place and we see the philistines still anxious for war you'll find out why they were anxious in a moment too and saul and the men of israel were gathered together and pitched by the valley of elah and set the battle in array against the philistines this was about 16 miles this would be about 16 miles southwest of jerusalem so that you can grasp the geographical location saul still leading his troops and again the prior verses we have read are chronologically out of order so you have to go back to after just following the anointing of david three and the philistines stood on a mountain on the one side and israel stood on a mountain on the other side and there was a valley between them in other words they are separated by this great valley what's going on here verse 4 and there went out a champion out of the camp of the philistines named goliath goliath means splendid or splendor of gas that's to say the wine press whose height was six cubics and a span i want you to note the number that is placed all over this man you will hear six implements of armor red he is six cupids high and you will recognize the handwriting or the sign board that god has placed upon us so you recognize it as the same beast that was reported in the what was it the third chapter of daniel that was six six zero in other words the number of course of satan therefore connect this little critter who stood this would be some say anywhere from nine more like twelve and a half to thirteen feet tall as one of the nephilim the office the off-cast of the fallen angels the beast system is it not written by the lord and savior himself in matthew 24 is it not written there that the end as that old beast from revelation 13 comes forward as it was in the days of noah that there will be giving and taking in marriage again with these giants these fallen angels of course it does so the type is set and the key to david unfolds before your eyes six cupids now the six pieces of armor are armament and he had an helmet of brass upon his head and he was armed with a coat of nail and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels or as we commonly say shekels of brass about 30 pounds the armored coat about 156 pounds and he had greaves of brass upon his legs that's to say leather studded with brass to keep a hamstring from being cut or something about 30 pounds and a target of brass between his shoulders and the staff of his spear was like a weaver's beam now do you know how long a weaver's beam is 26 feet and his spear's head weighed six there's the number again hundred shekels or shackles of iron and one bearing a shield went before him if you were to total these all up in what i believe would be about the nearest weights of and measurements that we could know even close about 273 pounds think of that very few men could even carry 273 pounds much less have armor and armament that would weigh that amount quite a bully in other words picture it real good and it has six all over it six weapons and six cupid's high verse eight and he stood and he cried into the armies of israel and said unto them why don't you come out to set your battle in a ray what are you doing over there on that ridge am not i a philistine and ye servants to saul choose ye a man for you and let him come down to me you send out your best i'm the champion the deal verse 9 if he be able to fight with me and to kill me then will we be your servants but if i prevail against him and kill him then shall you be our servants and serve us what an awesome sight that any man would look upon this man of war this goliath this no wonder he was called splendor verse 10 and the philistines and the philistine brothers said i defy the armies of israel this day give me a man that we may fight together verse 11 and when saul and all israel heard these words of the philistine they were dismayed and greatly afraid it would seem that most any man that would charge this one would be like walking into a meat grinder verse 12. now david was the son of that aphrovite of bethlehem judah whose name was jesse and he had eight sons again new beginnings are you ready for new beginnings the key to it is here the key to david bethlehem judah the place the birth of benjamin as well as the birth of christ and as well as the the place of the anointing of king david who would be leader if you would uh to that king of kings and lord of lords verse 13 and the three eldest sons well we and the men went among men of an old man in the days of saul and the three eldest sons of jesse went and followed saul to the battle and the names of his three sons that went to the battle were eliad the firstborn god refused him god passed over him when he anointed david and the next unto him abinadab passed over him and the third shema remember them all passed over little david was anointed and david was the youngest and the three eldest followed saul they were on the battle line 15 but david went and returned from saul to feed his father's sheep at bethlehem and the philistine drew near morning and evening in other words twice a day he would come out and chant at them and presented himself 40 days now what is 40s value in biblical numerics it's probation he literally put all of israel on probation that 40 days making them all quake in their boots 17 and jesse said unto david his son take now for thy brethren and ether of this porched corn and these ten loaves and run to the camp to thy brethren go there and apparently food was hard to come by and it was common i suppose that many of the people in the area sent food forward to sons fighting 18 and carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand and look how thy brethren fair and take their pledge the pledge was a token it could even be a lock of hair for the mother or father to let them know that their son was well and that they were still alive in other words uh buttering up the sergeants and the commanders in charge and so forth 19. now saul and they and all the men of israel were in the valley of elah eli meaning oak or strength like strong as an oak fighting with the philistines well in all truthfulness they weren't really doing much fighting they were doing a lot more quaking than they were fighting understand they were ready to go but no one seemed to move 20 and david rose up early in the morning and he left the sheep with the keep up and took and went as jesse had commanded him and he came to the trench as the host was going forth to the fight and shouted for the battle 21 for israel and the philistines had put the battle in array army against army standing one-on-one hill one on the other never the twain met all right and david left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage and ran into the army and came and saluted his brethren 23 and as he talked with them behold there came up the champion while david just happened while david was at had just arrived on the scene the philistine of gas goliath by name came out of the armies of the philistines and spake according to the same words and david heard them 24 and all the men of israel when they saw the man fled from him and were sore afraid quite a shock this boy's big brothers in all their weaponry and everything ready to do battle and beat their chest and the whole army runs 25 and the men of israel said have you seen this man that has come up surely to defy israel is he come up and it shall be that the man who killeth him the king will enrich him with great riches and will give him his daughter and make his father's house free in israel hey that's quite a reward verse 26 and david spake to the men that stood by him saying what shall be done to the man that killeth this philistine and taketh away the reproach from israel he wants to make sure he heard that the bounty was right for who is this uncircumcised philistine that he should defy the armies of the living god you know he didn't say israel he said the armies of the living god knowing god with you you can defeat any enemy apparently the others had forgotten this verse 27 and the people answered him after this manner saying so shall it be done to the man that killeth him in other words you get his daughter you get the ransom you get a free house where's 28 and eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men and elijah's anger was kindled against david little maybe maybe a little jealous and maybe irritated also that his younger brother would see him ashamed to attack and he said why cameth bowed down hither and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness i know thy pride and the naughtiness of thine heart no doubt after he was anointed there was a great deal of jealousy which would be passed off as naughtiness to these strappers for thou art come down that thou mighty see the battle no doubt he was ashamed verse 29 and david said what have i now done is there not a cause in other words this is kind of a slam in a way what have i done it would seem to me there's a lot of things that somebody around here should have done that would be a better translation that would no doubt really shame the older brother let me repeat it he says what have i done now it seems to me that there's a lot should be done around here after listening to this uncircumcised uh philistine 30 and he turned from him toward another and spake again the same manner and the people answered him again after the former manner in other words getting the record straight 31 and when the words were heard which david spake they rehearsed them before saul and he sent for him 32 and david said to saul let no man's heart fail because of him thy servant will go and fight with this philistine i want you to know this is a mere lad says i'm not afraid of him i'll go fighting a lot of people in their heart say what difference can one person make friend in this case one person made a big difference and again i warn you within this you see the key to the key let me say that again so you hear it well within these events i'm now reading you see the key to the key you'll understand in a moment some have ears to hear some don't 20 33 and saul said today that thou art not able to go against this philistine to fight with him for thou art but a youth and he a man of war from his youth you see there was a a command i i i probably will not remember it correctly but until you were 20 years old you weren't allowed to do anything but hold horses while the battle was fought you had to be 40 or 50 years old before you were able to even become a warrior here you got a a teenager 34 and david said unto saul thy servant kept his father's sheep and there came a lion and a bear and took a lamb out of the flock or you got your thinking cap on i want you to think of this beast goliath as that great beast of beast that rises up in the end times that one you count the number of that is 666. and i want you to remember in that revelation 13 what the political nation is described does it not have a bear does it not have a leopard of the lion family do you not see even that situation recorded verse 35 we continue and i went out after him and smote him and delivered it out of his mouth and when he arose against me i caught him by his beard and smote him and slew him hey that's pretty heavy stuff friend but when god is with you you can accomplish many things verse 36 the thy servant slew both the lion and the bear and this uncircumcised philistine shall be as one of them seeing he hath defiled defied the armies of the living god i can take him just like i did the lion just like i did the bear 37 david said moreover the lord hath delivered me out of the paul of the lion and out of the paul of the bear he will deliver me out of the hand of the philistine and saul said unto david go and the lord be with me he recognized faith when he saw it i tell you this dear one when you are delivered up in the end times before that beast called antichrist which is satan when the living god goes with you to the point that you don't even premeditate what you state beforehand but the holy spirit speaks through you the living god shall protect you also 38 and fall armed david with his armor and he put in helmet of brass upon his head also he armed him with a coat of mail can you imagine a full adults armor on this child 39 and david girded his sword upon his armor and he has saved to go he decided and weighed the chances of of his with this stuff on and david said unto saul i cannot go with these i want to take this off i can't go why for i have not proved them i'm not skilled with them and david put them off him 40 listen to me closely and he took his staff in his hand what is his staff that's what she directs sheep with you count the sheep he took the staff in his hand and he chose five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had even in a script and his sling was in his hand and he drew near to the philistine and you listen to me closely what is five in numerix it's grace some might have said well how can i connect all this have you never read have you never read in the book of revelation concerning why would it be smooth stones why would they say smooth stones chapter 2 the book of revelations following the church or smyrna and are following the church of pergamus he that hath an ear let him hear what the spirit saith unto the churches to him that overcometh will i give to eat of the hidden manna you know what the hidden manner is it's god's in-depth truth and will give him a white stone and in the stone a new name written which no man can knoweth saving he that perceiveth it he that receiveth it rather what stone this is the stone david picked from that riverbed the river of life if you want to go further with it the river of the living water do you want to know something further if you were to read on the third chapter of this in the seventh verse and to the angel the church of philadelphia write these things saith he that is holy he that is true he that hath the key to david do you want that key to david that this stone and whole entails a truth that is hidden from most ears he that openeth and no man shut up and shut us and no man openeth now you listen to me that stone that is written there in the greek is the same stone that is used in revelation chapter 13 verse 18 where you are instructed to count the number of the beast hidden within that word count is a greek word with the prime that says count by counting the smooth stones war and smooth over a long period of time to enumerate this antichrist and his followers it is this stone that killed this one beast it is this stone that was utilized to bring wisdom to the minds of those that have eyes to see and used to hear a stone that would do in this one goliath a stone that shall bring down the giant the same as the stone that comes from your mouth as christ speaks shall bring down antichrist ultimately verse 41 and the philistine came on and drew near unto david and the man that bear the shield went before him there they are in line verse 42 and when the philistine looked about and saw david he disdained him he hated him for he was the youth and ready and have a fair countenance and the philistines said unto david am i a dog that thou came as chemist to me with staves did you bring that stick to beat me do you think i'm a dog and the philistine cursed david by his gods which of course would be dagon and bam we'll take up this battle tomorrow i will repeat the key that i gave just prior to the battle be ready to receive the hidden manna be ready to know and understand that key of david as we read in the third chapter of revelation written to the church of philadelphia one of the only two churches that jesus christ had nothing against which do you belong to there's seven of them does the church that you belong to have the key to david were we to have continued there it would said then no those who claim to be of judah but do lie and are of the synagogue of satan meaning the kinites does your church teach that well if it doesn't you've fallen short friend your you're shortchanging yourself the hidden truth of god is the simplicity of understanding his word without the traditions of men spoiling the understanding thereof we'll take this up in the next lecture bless your heart she listen a moment please
